I heard somewhere that you can go to WL and tke part in a campfire/ sing along with characters and roast marsmallows, where can I get more information about this? Can you take part even if you aren't staying at WL? What about times and dates, anyone know about it? :cool1:

The campfire program is at Fort Wilderness and features Chip and Dale and runs nightly at 8pm near the Meadow Trading Post. It runs for about 40 minutes and you can bring your own marshmallows(I read they have a concession type stand but the prices are high)

This is at Fort Wilderness Campgrounds.. Not at WL.. and yes.. you can partake even if you are not staying there.... you can walk there from WL or Boat, or drive over or bus it from other resorts....It is free.. and is held nightly... with a different movie each night... you can bring your own marshmallows and stuff.. or you can by SMores kits there.... I haven't done it yet myself, but I have heard only great things and plan to do it in August!

The campfire movie take place in Fort Wilderness (near the Meadows Trading post if I'm not mistaken). You have to take a bus (the Orange one I think) when you get to FW (or walk about ten minutes) to get there. It starts at 8pm during the summer (7pm during the winter) and it is free. Chip and Dale stop by before the movie starts. Also, they have someone (who I believe has been there a long time) play some songs as well. You can buy a smores packet for $5 (I think) and make smores by the campfire. While the middle of the summer in Florida for a campfire sounds nuts, we did it in December and it was actually cold. The movie changes ever night. We saw the Fox and the Hound. I recommend it. This is one of those things in WDW not many know about unless they do their homework.

Here is the movie schedule for the rest of May:

18 May The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
19 May Monsters, Inc.
20 May The Pacifier (PG)
21 May Peter Pan
22 May Mighty Joe Young (PG)
23 May The Hunchback of Notre Dame
24 May Homeward Bound
25 May Aladdin
26 May Cinderella
27 May The Chronicles of Narnia (PG)
28 May National Treasure (PG)
29 May Valiant
30 May Herbie: Fully Loaded
31 May A Goofy Movie

Oh my goodness...this sounds like so much fun!!!! I think I will check it out in August!!! Learn something new every day!!!!

We did it on our trip in 2004. We did bring our own smores stuff and ate those before Chip and Dale came out. My dd was only 1 at the time so we didn't stay for the movie. It was fun, but don't know if we will do it again!

We did it last December. We loved it & will definitely do again. It was nice & cool! The movie was Belle's Christmas. The music was so much fun. We bought our things for Smores there including the sticks & it was quite inexpensive. Lots of fun.

We also did this last summer. It is soooo much fun! The campfire, the songs and Chip n Dale fooling around. It's a must do!

I am really planning on doing this again this fall. That campsite is a beauty.

Are there benches or something to sit on during the movie?

Ok I will tell your our expirence. It wasn't that great.

First off there are only 2 small fire pits and unless you stake spot pretty early you really can't get near the fire. You really have to lean over and try to squeeze your way inbetween people who never move. And you can only fit about 8 people around the pit.

Then I would bring something comfy to sit on because you will sit on metal bleachers to watch the movie.

Also we must have gone on a bad night because everyone was so LOUD in there chatting, we could hardly hear the movie.

Plus when the characters did come out it was a free for all and the little kids couldn't even get close unless they wanted to risk being knocked down and stepped on.

I don't know, maybe we went on a bad night or something but we left early because we couldn't hear the movie and we couldn't get near the fire pit to roast marshmellows.

Here's a review from my DD(10). When I was little :mickeybar I went to the campfire with my 2 sisters.I had a great time, but it was really expensive to buy sticks and marshmallows.my suggestion is that you bring things from home, also plan to get there early :surfweb: ! the buses at fort wilderness take an eternity.chip and dale leave before it gets really dark. :sad2:

Ok that last message was from DD(10). Now Mom's take on it. We drove to FW and got there about an hour before the scheduled campfire time. Thought this was plenty of time. Had to wait to get on a bus and then go all through the campground bus route to get to the campfire. By the time we finally got there, Chip and Dale were waving good-bye! DD(10) was 4 at the time and really enjoyed herself. DDs who were 6 and 8 at the time did not like it. They were disappointed. Probably frustrated at the length of time it took to get there (Me too!) Also, where we live we roast marshmallows outside alot. Maybe if you are from a city where you don't have a chance to have campfires, this may be worth it. Also could be good if your staying at the campground. Otherwise, I'd skip it!
