Glad it worked out for you. It may be a tough exposure, but if they just told everyone to be really still, and did a 1 second exposure at f/3.5 with 200 or 400 ISO, it would turn out fine. I do it all the time with night shots of us each trip, and I don't have any problems (as long as WE are still). My bet is they probably use some preset mode like "night portrait" though. Can't blame them, though, given most of the PhotoPass photographers are only "professional" (as Disney advertises) in that they get paid by Disney.

I agree it's not the greatest photo. And I'd be a little annoyed to have paid $15 for it. But I wouldn't say, despite it's mediocre quality, that it's lost. It still looks like a nice memory for your family. I'm glad they resolved it to your satisfaction. :goodvibes

As it turned out, the other one wasn't much better, but we did get a nice one in front of Cionderella's Castle.

PS A photo-intensive trip report will be coming soon, either tonight or in about ten days (depending on whether I can finish post-processing before I go away for a week). I'll post a reference to it in this forum

glad it worked out ok for you. my daughter's were pretty bad as well. i haven't used them personally but it does make me wonder. at $15 a photo you'd think they put a little training into the photographers or give them the necessary equipment or something...most of my daughter's had basic photo problems( ie tree growing out of a head type thing) and she didn't buy any of them. it seems like it would be in their best interest to have decent results.

And you can do it anytime even after your trip. I did that last year, I went to disney, came back, edit my pics, "pre" purchase the CD, they will give you a code, then after you done with your editing and ready to check out, click purchase CD and enter the code you got via e-mail, that would make your balance from the regular cd price to zero balance.

Yep ... i just did the same thing. We came back ... I edited all my photos and friends (we shared account) and then preordered my cd for $99. Only problem...my friend and I were going to split the cost but when she logged in and realized she only had 5 shots it was not worth it. Well she had more but basically they were all the same. I had way more because i looked for them and whenever I saw them I always asked DH if we could do it. Her DH just always hustled past them all. My DH knows that pictures are my thing. They look good so far, but we will see when the actual disc comes. Just ordered last night. I am just happy to have pics of entire family and I am in them. Usually I only get in pics if I take it myself...kind of tired of seeing my arm. LOL!!!

Personally I am glad you can still preorder even when you return. I would have been upset to be my friend and have done it then found out there were like 3 (tops) decent photos.

We had a similar situation occur last year. We were chosen to be in the daytime parade at Animal Kingdom, and were told we would have two PhotoPass photographers take pictures of us at two different points in the parade. We were excited, thinking this would justify buying the PhotoPass CD (because we also always get PhotoPass as somewhat of a veil for getting them to take pictures of us with my camera).

However, when we reviewed the picture, we were quite disappointed when we found that every single picture (about 40) was a closeup of us on the float. You couldn’t even see the float itself! What’s the point of having pictures of you in a parade if it doesn’t even look like you’re in a parade?! Now, I could see having some closeups, but all of them? Give me a break. The pictures I took of us (by holding a P&S out with my hand) showed more of the float than they captured. Not to say all PhotoPass photographers are bad, but I have been less-than-impressed by the majority (there are a couple very good ones that I know of).

I had to go to Best Buy to get a new card reader (I work at the corp offices so I tend to shop there for electronics) and got the bag. The cashier helping me and the one next to her came over to look at it as they thought it was very cute!! I will use this for around town. I was at the Arboretum yesterday evening and with the backpack on my bag I was sweating by the time I was done. I don't see this being a Disney bag, but it will be a good around town bag. :)

None of the Best Buy stores around us have them anymore and I was going to order it online until I rechecked the dimensions. I was looking for a bag that would function as a purse/camera bag/tote bag so the Diana bag sounded great but it's not big enough! It won't hold my laptop plus my travel stuff when I fly but it would have been perfect if it did!!!

I ended up buying a work tote bag from Target that has a separate padded laptop case and places to stuff things I'll need while travelling like itineraries, folders, a paperback to read, ipod, snacks etc.

It's too bad it didn't work for you. I plan on only using this around the Twin Cities, not as a travel bag. That is what the lowepro backpack is for. That one holds my laptop, the camera gear, with space for my wallet, keys, sunglass case and regular case and whatever else I might need while on the road. :)

I carry my camera gear in a Lowepro SlingShot 200 AW and my travel stuff including my laptop, novel, ipod, so on in the travel tote.

I seriously considered the larger Lowepro packs that held a laptop but figured that most of the time I wouldn't need to bring my laptop out on the trail or sightseeing with my camera. Those bags were huge and $$$$$. These decisions are so hard!

My only wish about the LowePro SlingShot line is that it had a water bottle holder!

Same here, DH knows that picture is my thing and he better stop when we see a Photographer otherwise he is in trouble with me  no! Just kidding, but you're so right, I am so happy as well to have pics of the entire family and me and same thing I take pics of myself :lmao: how funny I think the same about the arm and people look at me funny :rolleyes1
We had about 350 pics before editing from our last trip in July, don't mind paying the $99.00 myself. :confused3 Pictures are priceless.

I seem to remember seeing a list once on this board that listed all of the Photopass locations at WDW and the special effects that they can do at each. Does anyone know where I can find this message/link/information?

Thanks so much!

I am researching camera bags. I need one to carry my new Canon Rebel XSI :cool1:, an extra battery, maybe two additional lenses, and other necessities like my cell phone, etc. I would prefer it to have a zippered pocket to carry cash. Icing on the cake would be enough room to carry my Kindle too (but not one of my requirements).

I want something that will be a decent size for lugging around the parks (not too cumbersome). I am debating between the Lowepro Slingshot 100, Crumpler 5 Million, and the Lowepro Micro Trekker 100.

Anyone use these in the parks? How was your experience with taking them on rides? Any other suggestions?

Thanks!!

It really depends on which lenses you will be taking. I'm leaving in 5 days and taking two bags with me. Lowepro Slingshot 100 & 200 AW. The reason being is that the 100 isn't big enough to hold my T1i with the 70-200 attached. So I have the Slingshot 200 for those days when I want to take the zoom. But on most days I think I will be using the Slingshot 100 with a 17-55 attached.

Another bag you might want to consider is the Kata 3n1-10. Its a little more expensive but has dual straps to carry on either shoulder or both. It is roughly the same size at the Slingshot 200.

The great thing about either of these bags is the weather protection. Both come with raincoats that wrap around the bag. A must in Florida if you as me!

I have a Canon XSi and plan on bringing my 18-200mm and my Sigma 30mm f/1.4 most days. I also have a 100mm macro but will only use that around the hotel, and will bring my 18-55 kit lens just as a backup.

I did a lot of research on the boards and other camera forums. I decided on ordering the Crumpler 5MDH- just ordered it today off Amazon actually!!

This will be my fourth camera bag. I thought it looked comfortable for carrying all day and being able to carry a few lenses and anything else I might need.

DW carries a $5M home, I carry a $4M. Both of these do well and have many miles on them, at WDW and other places including hiking trails. They are ok on rides, for some of the rougher rides we put them in front or sometimes on the floor.

I've taken the Slingshot 100 a few times and like it in the parks. Depending on exactly which lenses you are carrying you should be able to fit everything in the bag. I've carried my A700 with lens attached and up to 3 other small lenses.

You shouldn't have trouble on rides with any of the bags you listed. If the bag doesn't fit in the mesh pocket you can put it between your legs on the floor and put one leg thru a strap for extra security.

Just did an ABD tour recently and I'm new to this digitial stuff to.I looked around at different sites and here for bag ideas.I bought lowepro Slingshot 100 and hauled a Nikon D40 body a 18mm-55mm and a 55mm-200mm lens in that bag for days with no problems. Even had room in the top compartment for other stuff.I'm looking at a different bags now too for an up coming trip and I think the kata 3n1-10 will work.Good luck in finding the right one,you can it's how much do you want to spend :confused3
