Okay, I'm official now! (myself, DH, DD (11) DS (13 mos) We will be sailing on the October 26th Halloween Cruise too! Can't wait--I'm beaming. :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce: :teeth:

SUE ELLEN:

:Pinkbounc WELCOME ABOARD !! :Pinkbounc

GOOFYDISNEY: We think excursion day is tomorrow. Anyone else have an opinion? Our penalty period for using Disney Vacation Club points for the cruise was 60 days out. We had to decide if we were going to buy travel insurance by then. DVC told me that the 60s out penalty period would start at Midnight on the 27th. So I figure the same for booking excursions. However, we plan to try to FAX the form tomorrow in the daytime.

Have a nice day all.

Tink and Sue Ellen - Welcome!

Jan - we will fax tomorrow also. But now I am in a quandry. I was really excited about doing Xcaret...but if you read my thread about Xcaret with a toddler...I have some real concerns. Am hoping someone has some tips. I know I still have time to book after tomorrow :), but I want to make sure I get the excursions I want, if I want them, and to do that I would want to fax as soon as possible. YIKES

GOOFYDISNEY: I have not checked the main board for a while. Can you give us the "address" for your thread? What kind of replies are you getting? We decided against it because of our love of snorkeling and water and negative feelings about seeing temples where humans were sacrificed.

Jan :earsgirl:

It's tomorrow It's tomorrow!!! Danielle at Special Services said we can start calling or faxing tomorrow!!!! (Aug 27th)

And there have been some really good responses to my thread about xcaret. So, I think we will be doing the Chankanaab National Park on our own. I am researching it right now.

And we purchased our MNSSHP tickets for Oct 25th along with making dinner ressies at the Liberty Tree. So, we will indeed miss the git-together at the restaurant and at the Rad. But I will be looking for ya'll on the ship! You'll recognize us right away...we will be the ones who look DOG-DEAD TIRED!!!!! hehehehehehe

GoofyDisney, When I was planning the excursions we were interested in I thought about xcaret but realized that the time and distance were more than I wanted. We have a guide that I discovered in the bookstore that actually recommended not taking kids under 8.
So tomorrow is the day. Can we start calling at any time? Never having done this I just wondered.
DD arrives home from Key West around midnight tonight so in the morning she will have all sorts of things to tell about what she saw and did. Unfortunately she does not like Key Lime Pie so I am sure she isn't bringing one home. Too bad.
Off to the dog for the last night for a while. Estelle

GOOFYDISNEY: We are also thinking about Chankanaab. Let us know what you find in your resources--web sites and stuff. One thing I found said that the beaches on the east side had good shells. But I am not sure if that is worth making the trip there.

ESTELLE: Sorry in advance for the non-arrival of a Key lime pie from Key West. Let us know if DD#1 brought any good info. I looked for her at Hog's Breathe several times. We got interesting brochures from Shirley. I have marked some stuff we might wander around town to see that we had not known about before. We will try to go on a snorkeling expedition first and then wander after we get back. I want to do dinner and sunset on the MAGIC.

This option to reserve excursions from home is a new one to us, so we have no idea when we can do it, but plan to try in the AM.

Jan :earsgirl:

Now I'm trying to figure out what excursions we can do with a 13 month old! YIKES!
I want to take my daughter on the horseback ride to the Myan ruins. I wonder how they handle Babysitting for something like that. I'm leary of leaving my DS on the ship while I do an excursion, but this is one of those that my DD REALLY wants to do. Any suggestions?
Sue Ellen

Previous threads I had saved about Cozumel and excursions are:

And Grand Cayman:

And somewhere, I cannot figure out where, there was a discussion about the changed times for the dinner seatings and that it was a summer experiment. It may be changed back by the end of August, depending on the comments of those cruisers.

Jan :earsgirl:

The trial dinner times are going through the middle of Sept now.

And here are some threads and sites about Chewie Natl Park

Jan...I think it is final.. we are doing CNP on our own. I have PMed a person who did it on their own. Waiting to hear. But from what I gather it is a 10 - 15 minute $5 p/p cab ride to the park. $10 p/p to get in and kids under 10 are free. There is a lot to do. You can pay extra to do sea lion show and dolphin swim, but we will just be content to do the snorkeling. The beaches and snorkeling are supposed to be perfect. THere are restaurants and bathrooms and everything we might need. You will be able to find us there on Cozumel day!!!

Sue Ellen, on the Eastern, you could leave your kids in the clubs and nursery when you went on an excursion.

No matter what we do.. the Hard Rocks in all three locales are on our to do list!!! Must have my City Tees!

We will be calling tomorrow bright and early to reserve our excursion on the sub!

Now I have to catch up with all of you on everything going on. I'm really getting excited.

Have any of you heard whether or not the dining times have changed on this cruise. I read that they were changing, but online it lists my dining time as 8:30--that is WAY too late with a 13 month old. If the early time is still 6:00 then we will ask to change, but if it is 5:30 and 7:45 then I want the late time. Anyone know?

Sue Ellen

I just had to share with you the MOST twisted thread I have ever read on these boards. Seems the poster and her sister are real people (They are the first two posts on the thread) who have indeed posted real threads before. Not sure what the heck is going on, or why these two are posting to themselves to be funny or whatever...but I had to share it!

P.S. The trip report regarding the sisters stay at Grand Floridian

I just read several pages of the complaints by the sisters staying at Grand Floridian that GOOFYDISNEY told us about. This posting was interesting.

I just remembered..... A comment made by a Disney employee at Port Orleans/FQ (Front desk) back in June.
I asked her was she happy that PO/FQ had re-opened, having been closed for quite some time.
She said "Oh yes, I am so happy to be back. I was placed at The Grand Floridian during that time and I hated every minute of it"........when I asked her why?...she remarked that the clientelle at that resort are such snobs and expect so much...everyone just 'hates' working there!! I remarked on the popularity of the Hotel and was advised it had dropped to the number 8 position amongst the deluxe resorts.
Interesting, I guess it works both ways!

Hmmm.......................

I just wanted to welcome Tink and Sue Ellen and their families to the HALLOWEEN CRUISE. I was just saying to my DH last night "I wonder what happened to Sue Ellen. Did she change her mind about the cruise."
We're glad you are all onboard. Only 60 Days to Go!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: Patty:teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

:Pinkbounc WELCOME ABOARD NYCDISNEYFAN! :Pinkbounc

Have you read any of the MANY pages of this thread?? Some of us were EXCITED and EAGER way back last winter. Infact, the DIS Board got me through the doldurms.

We have a lot of optional activities planned: Brunch together at Palos, Trick or Treating for the kids provided by the adults who want to be involved, many of us are staying at the Radisson Friday night so there will be a "meet" there and some may go to dinner together, green leis and American Flags for the sail away on Deck 10 Starboard as we JUST MAY have our photo taken by Shirley of The Perfect Gift so that she can post it for our scrapbooks, etc. We have a cruise list in the making that includes who is going, ages, involvements, etc.

No obligaton--each family participates as they wish.
If you are interested, let everyone know.

Jan :earsgirl:

Got all ours except the sunset cruise at Key West. Something about the boat not available. Oh well on DD's suggestion we're doing the tour.
DD brought back a flyer for another Key Lime place. Will check it out and put up their web site if it seems worth it.
Welcome to all the new folks. Do let us know if your children are interested in trick or treating.
Thanks Estelle

Wow! Lots of new, fellow cruisers!

Welcome TinkerBellPixie4GOAL! I bet you & your cousin will have a blast together!! I notice you live in Orlando. Do you get to go to WDW very often?

Yeahhh! Sue Ellen!! I'm so glad to hear that you'll be able to join us!

Welcome NYCDIsneyFan!! How old are your DS & DD? I have a 7 (turning 8 while on cruise) DS and 19 year old (turning 20 on last day of cruise) DD.

Excursions: I faxed my excursions list last week... and now reading your posts I'm not sure I was supposed to, so I called DCL to confirm receipt & everything is all set and entered!!
We are doing the Stingray City Snorkel Tour & the Cozumel Beach Break.

Town Car research: I did some research last night to decide whether we were going to get a Town Car. Here's a little summary incase anyone is interested:

From MCO to the Port Round Trip
YourRide.net $130.00
Tiffany Town Car $140.00
Happy Limo $160.00

I think both YourRide.net & Tiffany Town Car have $5.00 off coupons & Happy Limo has a $20.00 off coupon
We've had good luck with Tiffany Town Car in the past, so we are going to go with them again.
We also checked prices from Avis (with code D002907), but decided to just leave the driving to someone else. :)

Trick or Treating: Do we really have an accurate number of the children who will be doing the Trick or Treating? I wanted to start bundling up the little prizes I have for that event. I looked on the Excel sheet & there only seems to be a small handful of children with a "yes" next to the trick or treating.
