we did something similar for my mums 60th birthday but we took her to Vegas.
We did 1 clue a week for the 6 weeks leading up to departure date
I cant remember them all but we did things like
told her it was a spa weekend
told her we were going West of the city we live in
told her the number 35, 000 (cruising altitude of planes)
Final clue was a $1 casino chip from the hotel we had booked
