I really need some advice!

We just rented some points for a 4 night stay in a 1bdr at the BCV in Jan 2009. What is the benefit of a dedicated vs a lockout? I know the lock-out is connected to a studio so does that make it less sound-proof or something?

Also, what about requesting a view? Do the rooms with great views of Epcot or the Boardwalk across the water require more points like the savannah-view rooms at AKV? I was hoping to use our balcony a bit and would love a view of Epcot or the Boardwalk!

What about parking? I have an AP so I can valet for free. Does BCV have valet parking and should I use it or self-park?

I plan on walking or taking the boat to Epcot and DHS. Should I request a room closer to the main hotel to minimize a long trek?

I would love to hear from those who own here to steer me in the right direction, thanks.

I read on allears.net that you can request a 5th floor villa that overlooks Epcot and we actually got it. Spaceship Earth was our nightlight, we slept with our curtains open every night. It was the coolest thing. We were also able to view Illuminations from our balconies every night. Also, very special. No extra points for that, just lucky to get it. They tell you how to request it as a DVC reservation, very specific way. Great website.

Parking is free for DVC.

WALK to Epcot, so awesome. THis is where a Park Hopper pass will be appreciated. When AK or any other park closes early, you can go home to BCV and walk to Epcot, grab your favorite dessert or snack/drink and watch Illuminations every night. My older kids took Grandpa on Test TRack over an over every night until Epcot closed! Then you just walk out the "back door" of Epcot and you're right there at home. (Younger ones watch fireworks in their jammies from the balcony with me.)

Take the boat to DHS from the dock at the lighthouse. The walk is long.

Have fun! BCV is our fave! :woohoo:

1 BR units are all one room. The 2 BR units could be dedicated or lock offs.
I am not sure about free parking with an AP, however if you are renting points you do not get the member perk of free valet parking.
There are no views from BCV of Boardwalk. Views are of woods, Dunes Cove pool, and as pp suggested Epcot view. MS will take requests but will not guarantee any views.
Take advantage of Stormalong Bay pool at Beach/Yacht Club Resort. A mere 5 min walk from BCV.

Not to be a party-pooper, but the last poster suggested going to the pool at the BC (which is illegal!) You are not permitted to pool hop to BC even if a DVC member. Sorry, just had to say it.

The person is staying at BCV.

The OP is staying at BCV, and can use any and all pools at the resort, including SAB.

I thoght the OP was staying at BCV. If so, you absolutely have the right to SAB. Even if you are renting points.

Do you have the link or page for this?? I would love to do this next summer. We had the quiet pool view. We were on the 3rd floor.

There are a total of 19 dedicated 1BR units
5 on 1st floor
4 each on 2-4th floors
2 on 5th floor
Most of them overlook the quiet pool, none would have an Epcot view for seeing Illuminations. I wouldn't get hung up on having a dedicated 1BR vs. a lockoff

BCV does have free valet parking for members, I don't think that includes renters. As far as I know an annual pass does not entitle you to free valet parking at any resort, only free parking at parks. Self parking at BCV is more convienent than valet anyway. If you want to be closer to the parking request the east end of the resort, If you would prefer being closer to the main BC resort and hence SAB request close to main elevators.

There are no spectacular views at BCV, my favorite happens to be overlooking the quiet pool and always on an upper floor. I use to like the woods view because some of them would have Illuminations views of the higher fireworks above the trees from the upper floors especially, and some beautiful sunrises if you're up early.
Believe it or not you can even see the Wishes fireworks from the pool views albeit from quite a distance.

It' only about a 5 min walk to the IG entrance to Epcot if you take the walkway behind the BC building, I think the best for DHS is the boat, it's about a mile or so walk. The walk to the Boardwalk is about 10 -15 min, you can take the boat across but it's almost as far to walk to the boat as it would be to walk to the Boardwalk.

I'll be there again next week, as you can see from my sig it's my home resort and favorite place to stay.

I hope you enjoy your stay there. It's a great resort.

Thanks everyone for the advice.

Does anyone know if there is a GOOD map of the resort showing the placement of the different rooms types (studios, 1br, 2 br, etc) like on diagrams of cruise ships?
