Okay.........we usually stay for the two weeks on-site at Universal (HRH or RPR). Next year we have decided to stay first week in the "Disney"area (walkable distance to one or more parks) and second week on-site at RPR. This would save on taxi fares and allow us the same sort of freedom that we enjoy at Universal to pop back to hotel pool for a couple of hours during our stay when touring some of the disney parks.

So my question................which hotel would you recommend????? The W.D.W. Dolphin looks rather good....also.....Boardwalk - never been!!!Opinions on that too. Thanks alot. Over to you!!

Grand Floridian, Contemp Resort and Polynesian is walking distance to the Monorail that takes you to the MK.

Any Epcot Resort is walking (or short boat ride) distance to MGM and Epcot. I've stayed at Boardwalk & Swan. Did not care for the Swan, musty room and not the greatest service. Had to walk over to the Dolphin to get service that should have been provided by Swan. They were so helpful, I would be willing to try the Dolphin. Boardwalk was very nice and great pool. Yacht & Beach Club has even nicer pool.

Well, only a handful of the onsite hotels would be walking distance- and there isn't any one hotel that's walking distance to more than any 2 parks. There is however transportation to all the parks (including DTD) from any onsite hotel.

If you are looking for an offsite hotel, there are none that are walking distance.

As for the onsite one's- I'd visit the Disney Resorts forum here for more detailed info on each of them. :)

As Magiroux and Kilee stated, only a few wdw hotels offer "walking" to maybe 1-2 parks. As mentioned, BWV/BCV/Yacht & Beach Club/Swan & Dolphin resorts offer walking to Epcot (about 10 min) and to MGM (about 20 min). You can also boat to these to parks from the above mentioned hotels. Again, as stated, the Contemp/Poly/GF offer walk or monorail to the MK/Epcot. The WL offers a boat ride to the MK (maybe 7-10 min). All other resorts offer busses to all parks with running schedule about every 10-20 min approx.

Thanks for your replies. Looks like it may be the W.D.W. Dolphin for us then. Anyone stayed at the following and what did you think????....................

1) Disney's Port Orleans Resort
2) Disney's Caribbean beach Resort
3) Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge

You'll get alot more replies by posting on the disney resort board : http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=12

I've stayed at several wdw resorts, but not at any of the specific resorts you mentioned above, though I've visited the AKL for dining and it's a beautiful resort. But if you post on the boards I linked above, I'm sure alot of experienced people will be able to help you.

Thanks all.
MiaSRN62, I did post a similar question on the resort board but received no replies at all!
I think we have decided on the Dolphin but we'll keep our options open until we book in May.

We love the Universal hotels too for FOTL access. Can't beat that.

If I were you, I'd stay at the Epcot resorts for easy access to Epcot and MGM plus bus access to MK, AK and the others.

Hands down, I'd go for the Beach or Yacht Club if you can get it. Boardwalk and Dolphin are also nice; but I'm not crazy about the Swan. Dolphin is usually the best value, but you will not beat the Yacht/Beach pools, which is nicer than all of the Universal pools.

The Dolphin is lovely:)...and so easy to stroll or take the Friendship Boats to Epcot or MGM:)

Have you thought about renting points from a DVCer? and stay in the Villas section of either the Boardwalk or the Beach Club?

Studios have a kitchenette, 1 or 2 bedrooms have full kitchen, washer dryer, living room...at a fraction of the cost of booking "direct" with Disney..

Just a thought - you can find out more right here:

Good luck!

the Dolphin nor Swan are not disney hotels. so they don't participate in all the on site stuff...

but if that doesn't matter - then they are nice hotels.

:thumbsup2

BWV you can stay at for around $90 to $110 per night - standard view renting from a DVC member studio - value season (which starts in Sept)....

oh of your courses - POR is the closest to the parks (except AK)

AKL is only close to AK.
