Another suggestion--if you still enjoy running vs. run/walking. I follow a plan called "Run Less/Run Faster"--don'let the name scare you off. But basically, it's 3x/week--one interval workout/one tempo run/one long run. What I like about it: 3x/week is less wear/tear on the body and since I didn't start running til age 49, I liked that. I also like the variety of the workouts. And it's based on whatever your current fitness level is, i.e. the training paces are based on current 5k time.
Granted, this type of workout is still geared towards improving race result, but it's not ultra high mileage.
Otherwise, I think Galloway is a good way to go. I have no experience with it, but a lot of WISHers do--even have at least one Galloway leader on the boards.
Good luck,
Maura
I might have to check that one out. Thanks.

so now I was embarassed, proud, and the EGO kicked in So I pushed through the pain and made myself walk faster Then I realized, "Hey stupid, the heck with everyone else this is about you and if you don't make yourself slow down (my leg muscles were screaming) you are going to defeat everything you have accomplished" So if you didn't live so far from me I WOULD come to your house and remind you every morning
You'll be fine just listen to your body NOT your ego

feel better
I love hills (don't ask me why, lol) but a half mile long hill at the end of a race does not qualify for that love.
I've actually found more halfs than 10ks this fall! I'm going to try to run a couple to get my time lower for the PHM!
I hear ya! Though not so much in Feb. - this Floridian gets cold under 65*.
