Does anyone remember what they needed to include in your email to get a corral placement?

We still need to send an email with a proof of time for DD, but other than having the email address to send it to, I don't know what information we need to include in our email.

Also, anyone know if her time of 1:18 in a 10k help at all with corral placement?

Thanks!

There are several folks who are like that. I tend to fall off the wagon after marathon season. What I find is that I need to have a follow on race scheduled to keep me entertained. So after PHM, the Star Wars weekend race would make a great target... (OK jumping the gun, the Expedition Everest Race)

Any news to share regarding that possibility? :)

I did this twice for the PHM! I sent the following information:

Name of Race:
Distance:
City:
State:
Date:
Finish time:

The first time I submitted proof of time, I did not estimate my finish time for the PHM. As a result, they estimated my PHM finish time and it was over the time that most online calculators showed. I didn't like that, so when I sent a second e-mail to update my proof of time, I also included my own estimated finish time. (I estimated a 2:00 PHM based on my 0:53 10K - I hope that was a good estimate, but I've never run a half marathon before, so I'm just not sure.)

From several reliable and in the know sources, there will be a new marquee race at DL, WDW and DL Paris. The DLP will most likely be 2015 while the other two in 2014. This is from a higher up in the runD groups as well as a new job posting last week. Of lesser fact is a heavy rumor of a StarWars based race.
DIsney, known for dropping hints seems to have confirmed the SW weekend race. Two of their blog/tweet posts for the ToT weekend were of Star Wars characters. The other is that SW weekends start in May. A simple slide of one week could put a race date over opening weekend on May 4 - or said another way - May the 4th be with you.

Most definitely suggest your new estimated time if appropriate.

Just joining in on the thread! This will be my first half marathon. I thought what better place to run than in Disney World!

Completed my second half marathon today in 2:03:07. Definitely going to try to resubmit since it is 7 minutes faster than my first.

So exciting to think my next half will be the PHM!!!

Congratulations!! I'm hoping to have a similar improvement on my second one next month. I figure just the temperature difference alone should help me out. My first was in June and it was 85 degrees; my second is the middle of november and i'm hoping for HALF of that temperature! I am definitely a cold weather runner, that much is for sure.

That being said, I have two races next weekend. Guess I'll be getting a small taste of what GSC will be like early, lol. Saturday will be the Runners World 10K which I'm running in hopes of having another time to add to my list to consider sending into Disney. Going to run this one and then my half next month and see from the 4 or 5 times I have from this year which is best to submit.

Sunday I will be running in a local 13K (8ish miles). It is the third race in a "Hat Trick Series" that the township does and if you do all three races, there are special awards. The "trick" part of Hat Trick is that all three are different distances! In April, it was a 5 or 10 miler, August was a 5K, and now this 13K. After doing the 5K in August, I checked the updated Hat Trick standings and out of my age group, only one other girl did the second one! All I have to do is show up and finish the race on Sunday and I will be guaranteed at least 2nd place!

Hey guys! Just wanted to give a reminder that if you are in the market for a tutu now is a great time to buy them cheap! I just got my Tinkerbell 1/2 tutu at a local Halloween store on clearance, it is black and neon green got it for $9. Plan on wearing black tights and black top with it for Tink. Then I went to Joann Fabric and all of their Halloween costumes are 70% off. I got a premade tutu that is black, red, and white with a big black bow for $8! Wasn't sure what I was planning on wearing for the Princess but now I'm going to to do the Original Mickey Mouse club look with that tutu and mouse ears..... I was going to make my own tutus but for how cheap they are now it's worth just buying them! Just an FYI!

I need a little encouragement. I started the c25k in June. Ran my first 5k in aug and have 2 more since then. Well, I ran my first 10k on sat. I came in 286 out of 288. My time was 1:38. I ran interval 2 min 15 sec run, 1 min walk. It was raining on and off (hard at times). It was a flat course-Atlantic city boardwalk. On one hand, I am really happy I finished. That was my goal. On the other hand, I can't help but feel bummed that I was third to last. And the two behind me walked the. Whole thing. I think they let me beat them cause they felt sorry for me. I averaged 15:55 but need to do better than that for the PHM. I've come so far but, feel like I'm not cut out for running.…

You still have time! Don't put too much stock into what place you came in. After all you chose to get out of bed and go on a 10k run! One foot in front of the other..... Stay focused and dig deep!

Try not to get too down on yourself over where you finished in a race! Here are some things you can think about instead:
1) Remember how hard the first few weeks of C25k were? Focus on how far you've come in only a few months! :)
2) You just finished your first 10k!! :cheer2::cheer2: That's an AWESOME accomplishment, regardless of how fast/slow you were!
3) PHM is still like 4 months away, and you have lots of time to improve your pace/endurance
4) If you're planning to do PHM in a costume, you could put some energy into working on that? Might help remind you that you're running this for YOU and it doesn't matter what anyone else says/thinks or where all the other runners place.
5) There is something to be said for racing in non-ideal weather conditions. It's usually crappy and frustrating and that rain would not only dampen your clothes but your spirit too. ;) So try not to beat yourself up!

I can definitely relate to focusing too much on a bad finish, and that feeling of "omg what have I signed myself up for..I'm not a runner!?!" At one of my first 10k races I finished 8th from last and last for my age group (20-24) and everyone who finished after me was 20-50 years older than me.:faint: But at another one I finished first for my age group and significantly farther from the bottom of the list, and my finish time was only 2.5mins different! I think you have to keep in mind you're always racing with different people, and who knows, the people behind you might have been training at speedwalking for ages to finish where they did, and the people ahead of you might all be seasoned runners! There's no way of knowing everyone's story, you only know your own, so try to keep a positive mind and only focus on the great stuff about your running journey so far :flower3: Getting out of the habit of comparing myself to everyone around me was one of the most helpful things I've learned since I started running in April.
You can do this!! Maybe play around with your intervals for a few weeks and see if that helps with your pace at all. And I'm glad you came to the Dis for some princess support when you were feeling unmotivated :grouphug:

Has anyone actually gotten an email back in regards to a submitted proof of time?? If so, how long did it take to get a response? I'm so nervous about it now that we won't be allowed to bring our proof of time to the expo in order to be placed in the proper corral. Over on the Disney Pacebook Running group somebody was saying they suggested calling the company, but who do we call, RunDisney or Track Shack? Sorry for the tons of questions, PHM will be my first half and I just want everything to go smoothe!

What are people sending in a email to run Disney? Is it a screen shot of there results, a email from the race?

I sent an email and had an answer back the second day. I sent it to rundisney.

Sounds like I need to resend or call someone about what I emailed in last week. :(

I just sent an email with the required elements, no screen shot. I didn't think of that.

Don't give up! I know it can be discouraging when you don't get the results you were hoping for. I am kinda in the same boat. I just completed the half at AC and I was really hoping to come in 5 minutes earlier than my time. I actually did better on the one there in April. I have to remind myself it was a different course. This one had hills and so much wind. We didn't have the rain like you did, the wind was always against me. Here are my thoughts for both of us. Perhaps change the intervals. I did 45 sec run with 1 min walks. Then I got tired and just did what I could when I could. I had walkers passing me. So my next strategy was to pick out a rabbit. Someone up head that I would try to catch. It would take me awhile, but I was able to catch and pass some of them. Never did get the woman in the purple peacock sparkle skirt. Her sparkle skirt was faster than mine. The other thing I thought about as I had several walkers pass me. Is this interval stuff really helping me? Or could I do just as well walking? I don't have the answer to that. I can tell you I probably walked more than I ran. My final time was 3:19:42 with a pace of 15:14.

So for you my friend, it is early. You still have 4 months to train! You will be ok! I will see you at the PHM.

It took about 2 weeks for a return email for me.

Unfortunately I don't have a good solution, just an explanation.

I don't think it matters to whom you sent the email (to track shack or runDisney), most of them end up in an intern's email at track shack. Last week was a recovery week from the trenches at Tower of Terror 10 miler. The marathon proof-of-time due date is in 15 days so they are most likely swamped.

The official instructions are to send proof-of-time to disneysports@trackshack.com

At least you know that you need to submit proof-of-time. Many will arrive at the expo thinking that they can move up corrals...

You have every right to request some type of confirmation for your proof-of-time submission! Might I suggest requesting from runDisney a better method for confirming requests to move up in corrals, separate from your request to change corrals. Put lots of sugar on letters to the intern.

I think the need to have very official pre-printed credentials for race area access outweighs the convenience of last minute corral changes. It's a Brave New World.

I didn't send a screenshot, and I got confirmation after 2-3 days. You could always email asking for confirmation
