Christine, wow.. i didn't know there was a Margaritaville at Mohegan!!! I would love to go do that! I personally like MS better than Foxwoods - but my gram got a room for $39 here tonight.. lol.. so i didn't have a choice. :) But, definately will hit Margaritaville some other time! Took me 1.5 hrs to get here.

Angie - i got these blister bandaids that are for blisters - by Band-Aid, they cushion it nicely.. I just wasn't sure as to what the normal healing time for blisters were - mine don't seem to want to go anywhere - but probably b/c they are under that bandaid - they are staying more moist. I don't know..
Guess i will see how i feel after my LR sat.

I love reading everyone's training stories! You all are really inspiring. Now you have me thinking of running the 1/2 next year!

I'm running the 5k. I live here in Central Florida and always train outside. What I usually wear is New Balance running shoes that I bought in late January for the race, running capri pants, and a moisture wicking shirt. I'm not planning to change any of that for the race, even though it would be fun to get a pink shirt for the race. (I guess if I see one I'll pick it up!) However, will I want sunglasses or a hat for the day of the race? I'm thinking yes, but I hear a lot of people say running in sunglasses bothers them.

We're not staying on property since we pretty much live on property, but I am thinking about going to the WISH meet on Saturday evening.

I always run with sunglasses. They used to slip off my nose constantly because of my sunblock and sweat, but now I tuck the earpieces under my headband and they stay put. I will put my sunglasses on my head or carry them until the sun comes out on race day.

Warning - Yucky Blister talk...

I always pop my blisters on my feet with a pair of sterilized pointy tweezers or a sterilized needle. I then get some hydrogen perioxide on there to get in the hole and bubble up. It almost instantly gets the pain to go away. The hydrogen perioxde dies it out. I can't deal with a squishy blister on my heals or balls of my feet-makes my gait funny. I recently had a blister form at the end of a toe and went under the nail. The first thing the podiatrist did was - POP IT!!! It felt instantly 100% better.
After awhile the dead skin on top come off and the skin under is good to go!!

Hi Everyone:

My bf and I are running the half on Sunday....my family wants to come and watch us. Will they have to use a day on their park hopper ticket to do that? I'm wondering b/c we weren't going to go in the parks on Sunday....we were doing to do Downtown Disney, etc.

My bf and I would be able to stay in the parks all day, right? Or how does that work? Now I'm worried...haha. I feel so lost sometimes.

Well I think I found the answer to my question....if they don't want to purchase a ticket they have to view from the Imagine Lot just outside of Disney. Does anyone know if that's right at the end of the race? I mean...will they be able to see us running? And get a shot of us going across the finish line?

I know those sound like silly questions but this is a big deal for my bf and I. haha. I want my family to be a part of it! :lovestruc

Wow, you sure are a busy group of posters! I missed checking in for one day and there are PAGES to catch up on.

Let me start by posting my bib: #4885 (not sure if I was suppose to post it here or somewhere else, I'm still finding my way around these boards!) and my friend Kate's number for the 5k is 2304.

Thank you Caitsmama for the logo - I haven't found it yet, but I'm still reading posts. I appreciate your reply and the time you're taking to make it!!! Where are people putting them? I was thinking of doing a full sized one to hang from my number and another reduced size one to wear to the meet & greet. What do you think?

Next question: What are the bondi headbands, and how do I order one? I don't even know what they are but if I can get it at the expo and its Pink/magenta, I'm IN!!! I usually wear something from my running club but I may forgo that this race and just wear pink...

As to where I'm staying, I have no idea. My friend from Ft. Myers is making the reservation, someplace near the airport so that I can get to my flight the next morning... she'll drive me to the start on Sunday, but then I guess we'll just go hang out somewhere. So I wonder, do I need a ticket to go to POR for the meeting? I've never been to WDW...

Again, thanks to all who are helping me find my way; its hard being new so close to a race...

Looking forward to meeting y'all!
Tammy

Sorry I can't help you lock3130

On another note...maybe some one could start a separate thread for blister talk. ;)

Hi Lock3130!

Your family can watch you in the MK on Main St and after you pass they might depending on the crowd be able to move to see you as you run thru the Castle.

Since this is the 1st Princess I'm not sure how the crowds will be and all but in January people also view outside the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian oh and at the Ticket & Transportation Center. In Jan we have had team mates cheer at the TTC and then move to the Polynesian because it's an easy walk over.

After that they can jump the monorail back to Epcot and catch you as you cross to the Epcot backstage gate. You know where the buses drop guests off, say you were leaving Epcot the 1st group of bus stops (I think AKL is in this group but don't recall who else)... that is the section we will go thru to get to the Epcot. When they see you at this point you will have just passed Mile 12.

The MK will be closed to day guests and no park pass needed but they will then clear the park after the runners are done going thru. Epcot will need a park pass to view the runners going thru INSIDE the park.

Your welcome Lock3130!

I went looking and they still have the Spectator Tool up on the Marathon pages...

Hopefully this link will work and it take you right to the tool...

http://disneyworldsports.disney.go.com/dwws/en_US/marathon/spectator/detail?name=SpectatorDetailPage

The one difference is how the course moves from Epcot to World Drive heading to the MK but that wouldn't affect friends/family watching :) As far as I know we will still go thru the TTC but this can be reconfirmed at the Expo. They will probably have a Course review which is why John Hughes is listed as a Speaker. :) He's the Race Director.

A note about getting from the section before entering Epcot for spectators, I don't think it's a quick turn around and you are at the Finish Line so they might not be able to catch you going into the Finish Line.

Editting to say... the other difference between the courses.... where the mile markers are LOL Mile 2 in March is farther up World Drive than it was in Jan so when you are looking at the Spectator map keep in mind the Miles are off. ;)

I am also running in my usual attire, and yes I am wearing sunglasses I always do, I live in Miami. Glad to see you already have another event line up, that is what it takes to keep you going and you are supporting the sport and charity!! You go girl:banana:

Hi Tammy-
I noticed these questions hadn't been responded to yet...

I think we are all doing a variety of things with the logo's that Stacy (Caitsmama) made for us. I'm still deciding myself. Some are ironing it on their shirts, some are attaching to the numbers.... Whatever you feel like doing. Personally, I keep going back and forth and have not made a decision yet...

For the Bondi hairbands, here is their website http://www.bondiband.com/
You can e-mail or call her and order the Princess Half hairband for $5.00 or any others. Then you have the option of having her ship them or picking them up at the Expo. You cannot order it via the website, b/c she is giving us a special deal.

You don't need a ticket to get into any of the resorts, and that's what POR (Port Orleans Riverside) is. Just drive up, get dropped off, and walk to the food court. POR has a pasta bar, and that's why we decided to go there the night before as the Dis meet, to load up on carbs....

Can't wait to meet you, I am probably going to be late to the Dis meet, I'm not getting in until late afternoon on Sat.:guilty: , but I'm still going to try to go. But there will be plenty of others there.

Hope this helps.

Tammy,

You don't need a ticket for POR. It's a resort near Epcot so no park entry required.

Follow the signs to Port Orleans and when you get close to the resort, there will be two entrances one called "French Quarter" and "Riverside" Go into Riverside and tell the guard you are there to eat at the food court. You will be good to go!

There are a number of places they can see you without buying a ticket. The location I like best is the TTC because there are always lots of people there and it's very exciting. Then, as soon as you pass, have them walk to the Polynesian and go just past it (as if you are going to Shades of Green) They will see another large group of spectators. This point is just a little under 4 miles after the TTC spot, so unless you're an elite, they will have lots of time to walk there leisurely. Then hop on the monorail to Epcot (it's actually quicker to walk back to TTC than to take it at the Poly) and hopefully they will get to the finish chute before you pass. If they want photos of you actually crossing the line, they will need to pay for those grandstand seats, but it's really not necessary. The photographers will take lots of photos of you crossing the line which you can purchase for a small fortune after you get back home. :rotfl:

Ooops, sorry, Diane.......I see you posted almost the exact same answer! (great minds think alike) I just quoted and responded before I read further down.

I'm curious about what you said about the MK passes. For some reason, I was always under the impression you DID need a pass to get onto Main St. even though the rest of the park was not yet open to the public. Then when they do drop line at 9a.m. it's no big deal because all the runners have either passed through or (as in 2008) been rerouted around the MK. Obviously, you can't have people running through the real runners to get to an E-ticket ride. I was not aware of the fact that they actually clear out the park once the runners have gone through. It doesn't seem very efficient to me since the people who don't want to use a ticket can always cheer at TTC or Contempory among other places. Are you sure about not needing a ticket?
I've always steered my cheering squad to other locations because I thought they did.

My DH, DD and SDIT are going to go to the TTC after the start, then to the Polly and back to the finish line. We are going to make a race of it......who can get to the places first.:rotfl:

Please don't forget your sun block, I started off the other morning with my minnie marathon jacket on, half way through I had to take it off and I had forgotten my sunblock, by the time I got back I was burnt.

LOL Jeanne! It's all good. Plus you pointed out going back to TTC to grab the monorail instead of taking it from the Polynesian. Save time and it's a nice maybe 5 minute? walk back to the TTC.

No ticket needed to view the race on Main St. They do a bag check as normal and let you in. You are only allowed on Main St and up by the Castle. My Mom has done it twice now and other Team Mates. So i'm going on what I've heard from them. If you go directly to the MK you might not be let in immediately. In Jan they don't let them in till 6 or 6:30 am. From what I heard in January and again not sure if this will be true in March...but something was open on Main St selling coffee. I thought it was the Bakery? Then I thought this year I read that it was Casey's. But somewhere there WAS coffee being sold LOL I can't believe it would be the bakery because you'd cross the course to get to it. But maybe they have it open for a few minutes and then close up again.

Anyways.. the runners go thru. then they clear it out and clean it up. The 1st year Mom watched us we were towards the back more so when she finished seeing us, she hung around abit, then hit the potty. Came out and planned on getting a photo of some characters that had been near the course and silence. Apparently everyone was on their way out, they were clearing the park. No characters, the crowd what was left was moving out. They will close and reopen. For Epcot you will need a pass to get in and I'm not sure if they let anyone in before opening. I have never heard.

Lots of people like the Main St/Castle because hey it's the MK! What a great place to see your family. Now that I've done it a few times I'm asking my Mom and DH to go elsewhere. By the way, I was surprised there really wasn't a crowd by the Contemporary during this year's Half. I think there was a group of volunteers or something but not like the 2008 Full's crowd. So I wasn't sure if they were telling people to not cheer there? I had actually told Mom to go there LOL She went to the MK instead. Which is good too, I was able to drop things off before my Castle photo :thumbsup2

Oh and another COFFEE mention... the Polynesian's counter service is open early. But if you go there and plan on monorailing to the MK they won't let you on or was it they won't stop at the MK till they are ready for the spectators. Mom mentioned the 1st year she stoped there for coffee and then headed to the monorail and either they wouldn't let her on the monorail yet because it wasn't stopping or it wasn't stopping at the MK yet. She still go in, she moved to the end of Main Street just before you turn to go towards Tomorrowland.

I hope all that is as clear as mud :lmao: And no you don't want me giving you driving directions to Goodings (which is over by Down Town Disney, very easy to find but I'd have you in Ohio LOL).
