Thanks Christine on the date for the bondibands! I need to email her when i get home from work tonight. So THANKS for that reminder!!!

Caitsmama!!! Can I have a head too? AND I wanted to tell you that I took the one that said Endurance Princess and printed it on a window cling so it will be in my room window at CBR :thumbsup2 They are too cute!!! It printed on the small side since it's a name tag so I will probably print a couple more and have a line of them in the window princess:

For the Princess head tag, I wear a WISH shirt and will most likely be using my WISH bag in the parks but will either pin it to my shirt and/or have it dangling off my bag :thumbsup2

I forgot I have a lime green boa bought specifically for this race! Now I have to decide if I will bring it or not and wear it to which race. hmmm. the decision that still need to be made ;)

Hello Princesses! I had to do my 9 miler today as "sunny" California is supposed to get more rain on Sunday. Plus, I've just started taking a spin class Saturday mornings and that does not make for a nice long run on Sunday. Ran 4.5 walked 4.5, but this may be the last long one for me, when I got home my right ankle is pretty sore. It didn't bother me at all during, but after I cooled down, YIKES! Hope everyone is feeling great, not too much longer before the big day. I can't wait to meet everyone!

Disney Parks are Coca-Cola, so water is Aquafina and sports drinks are Powerade. As a volunteer at the Full in Jan, we recieved a lightweight pullover jacket and a one day one park ticket. (Gave mine to Maura).
Was lots of fun. I volunteered near mile 11 which during the Half is like mile7 behind Splash Mountain!

Cool, because I'd been training w/Powerade, yesterday I did my 14 miler tried my "worst case scenario pace" you know slow and sluggish and still I was right on time, so I am hoping to do better at the event, I also found in Marshalls some NIKE performance underwear it sells for $40 at Sports Auth and they have it for $5.99 I usually train only with my lycras because regular cotton gets me chaffed from time to time so this undies are what I need!!! yes I do BodyGlide too. My doctor personally call yesterday and told me he is amazed with my numbers: cholesterol, sugar they are super low, my iron really good and my hormonal count top shape, this for me is a major blessing and I credit it to God (first) and to running Question: is anyone register for the Cherry Blossom 10 miler in DC?

I am still hanging in there as the days get closer to the 1/2. In a way I wish it was here already and in a way I wish it was still months away. I didn't get any running yesterday and none yet today (I will have to see how I feel after work and my dentist appointment after work) I did 2 miles on Tuesday morning - I ran for 1/2 mile at 7MPH on the TM - I have never ran that fast ever. I hope to get something in tonight or tomorrow morning. I did stretch this morning so that is good. This weekend I will do a 10 miler and that will be my longest before the 1/2.

Hope everone has a wonderful Thursday

Tricia, your experience is making me wonder whether I can get myself ready for another marathon on May 3. I have not decided half or whole yet...I figured I would wait until after the Princess 1/2 to figure that out.

Aquafina is Pepsi.

Dansi is Coke. So it's Dansi!

Well, i am taking today off (supposed to do 4 mi.) but decided a couple extra rest days this week would benefit my sore big toe and my blisters.. I will try for my 8 mi. on Sat.
My toe is definately feeling better - Just hoping that the nail heals without deciding to come off -- eww.. i just don't have the stomach for that. LOL And my blisters are still there - but they don't hurt too much, i can walk in my new sneaks fine, but i don't want to pop them, as i have read that you shouldn't. (again, going back to the weak stomach.. LOL) I got some Band-Aid blister pads, which act like a second skin, and help heal the blister - i am not sure how long blisters usally last - but i have had them for 6 days now. The one on my left foot is rather large too. But, as i said, they aren't really bothering me.
I am going away for the night tonight to Foxwoods Casino / Resort in CT... taking my dd (yes, i know she is 8.. lol) we aren't going to gamble, but to just hang out and walk around (it's really pretty there) and use the indoor pool. We will be back tomorrow afternoon. Just a girls night out. My mom and grandma are also going.

Also, kinda OT, but does anyone have any advice as to how to best train a child to do the 5k?

My dd is expressing intrest in doing the family 5k next year (assuming they have it again) - for the princess weekend. And i think it would be fun, don't know that i want to do a 1/2 marathon again, maybe just the 5k and then volunteer for the 1/2.. not sure. But, i am lost as to how to start training an 8 year old ?

Don't use my experience as guide - I have just been really lazy lately and have not felt like doing anything. But once I am out there doing it I feel great. I think my mind is telling me YES you CAN do it and my body knows it can do it as well so then my mind tells me its ok to slack. :confused3 I think I just got burned out on waking up early to train but if I don't get out there early and get it done I usually end up not getting it done. I am not at the point yet were I LOVE to run or walk for that matter. :lmao:

I do plan on training for the full again for next year and I am pretty sure I will be doing another 1/2 in November but other than that I don't have any long distance races planned.

Is your marathon on May 3 going to be a full? Oh wait I just noticed that you said you haven't decided half or whole. I found that after my 1/2 last November I felt like I had the endurance to keep up with the miles and I would have never been as far ahead on my milage if I hadn't done the training for the 1/2 before the full. If there is enough time to decide after the Princess to sign up for your May 3 race then I would see how you feel after that. Good luck whatever you decide.

Just checking in. I'm scheduled for a cold 10k this weekend. In theory, I want to actually "race" it. My last races have all been more about having fun and taking pictures, so I don't really know where I am as far as fitness... I imagine I'll be miserable for about 6 miles, and then decide to just have fun at the Princess!

Caitsmama- Silly question, but does your child like to run? I've been trying to convince myself for 3 years that my 9 year old likes it, and dragged her to a bunch of 5ks, but she says running is not her "thing." She only tolerates the races for the bling. My 2 year old on the other hand, has run a mile with me and loves it. Anyway, we are big on destinations (the park), some treats for stopping a whining fit (Sportsbeans), and fartleks (letting the kids decide when). Our pace is about 13-14 minutes/mile so we're not winning awards, but we're beating the sweeper... I try to go about 2-3 times a week for maybe 2 miles. We actually haven't done it in awhile since Emma vetoed the Princess 5k.:sad2:

IMGONNABE40 Doing the 1/2 training you are 1/2 the way there to a full, I do recommend to follow some type of pattern, check this one out http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-238-244-255-11937-0,00.html Go for the full!!!! they said once you cross the finish line your life will change forever, I can testify It Is True!

Caitsma, get in touch with your local running club, here in Miami they start training (formally) at 7 years old, check out this site http://www.girlsontherun.org/default.html they may be able to help you find a running group for your DD, my DD race for the first time last May and she is doing the 200 yards at the Princess event, she is 4, can't wait until she is old enough to start training formally, in the meanwhile she is playing soccer (faster than many boys), what can I say running is a lifestyle, you have to love it and we do  About the blisters, my PT told me, long time ago, to suck it in because they eventually become callouses, I know in your case the shoe mess screw you up, but remember the event is not far so we can get on the plan, I hope to hear you are doing well soon, very important to have the "next" goal in mind, what about a run to support your local club?

I say GO FOR IT! race like an animal you'll surprise yourself of what you can actually do!!! check this site http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-238-244--11426-0,00.html, let me know how it goes

Elka!!! Great news on all those numbers from the Dr!!!

Christine just wanted to :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: on which ever distance for May 3rd you decide on :thumbsup2 Good idea to have another race in mind to keep going, and going, and going... :) oh and going!

Definitely Dansi. And strangely enough it's a good thing to mention because we do have at least 2 people on the team that can not stomach Dansi and that is why I remember which brand of water.

A reminder that if you are training with Gatorade you need to remember you can NOT get Gatorade on property, only Powerade. Which is why we use the individual gatorade powder, can bring it in our carry on even :thumbsup2

2 weeks out? Oh my! Let the packing lists be written! :woohoo:

Hi Stacy-

For what it's worth... remember the big blood blister I had on the bottom of my foot? I did pop mine, mostly b/c I could feel the fluids squishing every time I took a step, and I didn't like the sensation.

My blister healed almost instantly after that, and the pain went away, too.
I sterilized tweezers and made a small hole with them, and that's how I got the liquid out.

Just an FYI...

Jen, My dd is sooooo excited about doing the 400 meter kids race! She has a cute pink running tank and a pink running skirt.. LOL She keeps asking me to "train" on the TM.. LOL She sees me doing it, and i think (well, i hope, it inspires her).
She is the one who is asking to do the 5k next year.. so, we'll see how she feels about it after the race this year. I didn't want to push myself by doing the 5k and the 1/2 this year, but next year i would possibly just do the 5k if she really wants to do it.
She is starting softball this spring, and wants to join Soccer in the fall - so hopefully she will start to see what it is like to be active, and then she will decide.. :)

Ewwww ewww eww.. there goes that sensitive stomach!! LOL  :lmao:

ETA: I am going to have my mom look at them tonight - she is a nurse, and see what she thinks, but i am one of those, who say - "If it's not hurting (broken) don't fix it. " LOL
But, i also want them to heal up fast - i guess i will have to see how i do on Sat. for my 8 mi. - if at any point they bother me, i will stop.. and then i will contemplate the pin trick to drain them - or have my mom do it while i bite on a sock.. (did yours hurt???) LOL

(did yours hurt???) LOL

Um, not really. I think I was just a little nervous with the IDEA that it might hurt, plus I was so grossed out by the fluid (sorry:sick: ). I was tentative at first, being a bit of a wus, but I was very relieved when it was over. The pain of the blister really went away immediately. That made it worth it.

Funny you should say that, Stacie! My sister just took her 10 yr old son to Mohegan Sun to eat at Margaritaville...and they don't drink or gamble!! Just big Jimmy Buffet fans!! Have a fun trip!!

re:blisters...
I am prone to blisters (though I think I may have them under control, knock on wood) and just thought I'd share what worked for me...

The is this stuff put out by Spenco, called Second Skin, it's a bit pricey, BUT...it's gel like pads that you put over the full blister...it cushions it so it doesnt hurt so much to walk on it, and then you take it off at night while you're sleeping, and the blister dries out and disappears, really! A few weeks later, when the under skin has healed, the dead skin just comes off.
