Hello All,

We are contemplating making our next trip to GF Concierge this fall.

Please help! It has been 8 years since our last trip to the GF. We were at BC in May and OKW in July this year and we came over to GF to do some "research" .

We liked the Boca Chica building and would request it if we decide to stay in a Lagoon View.

However, we would prefer concierge and we need clarification on the different concierge options. Lodge Concierge?.....Main Building Concierge?....different food options...which do you prefer....location? views? etc.

We visit often so we spend a good deal of time at the resort and in the pools and on our balcony or patio.

Any and all information, likes or dislikes, etc will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Lodge concierge is situated in a building not unlike Boca Chica (Sugar Loaf). It works out around $160 or so a night less than main building concierge, depending on the season. To my knowledge the difference between RPC (main building concierge) and lodge concierge is that desserts and cordials are on offer in the main building, but not in lodge concierge.

While I would love to stay in the main building, I find I can't justify the cost difference and love Sugar Loaf concierge. I figure I can order a lot of desserts and cordials for the money if I so choose, but that's just MO.

Sugar Loaf is located fairly near to the main building, but does not offer lagoon view rooms- you get a choice of marina view or garden view (but only as a room request, not a reservation option). You have to use your room key to enter the building and the lounge is immediately as you enter. They offer continental breakfast, midday snacks (sandwiches, coffee, tea, fruit, cookies), afternoon tea (pretty similar to that served in the garden view lounge), and evening snacks (cheese, crackers, crudites, dips). Lodge concierge finishes up around 7pm (I think) whereas main building goes on till after 10pm (not sure of the times, but someone else will let you know).

Good luck with your decision

Joanna

Thanks Joanna!

Very helpful indeed. We have stayed in other concierge rooms, Poly, BC, YC, and AKL most recently...but I didn't understand the different buildings and/or different offerings. Even I can't eat $160 of dessert a night! lol

I have gained a lot from your latest GF thread as well. I look forward to your trip report!

Thanks again!

Do you know whiich concierge room you get when you book throug the DVC? We have a GF concierge room for the labor day weekend.

i don't know if you still can but when i stayed lodge concierge when it firt opened the CM told us we could go to the main bld. for the wine and nightcaps and the cards have worked in the elevator since for $160 a night i will walk to the bld. next door the one or two times i use it. and i save the money for better meals in the parks or mayby V&A's. however you stay i hope you have a magical vaction.

Thanks BeatleBailey,

I was wondering if Concierge guests had access to both lounges.
I will check when I make the reservations to see if this policy is still in place.

For $160 I would walk over to the Poly for a nightcap! lol ;)

Unfortunately, you can no longer use your lodge key to access the concierge floor in the main building. Only those staying in suites have access to both.

I have stayed in both and I really prefer the main building. In my opinion though, you are paying more for the ambience and the views. It's true that they serve wine with the dinner selections and offer cordials and desserts later in the evening, but other than that, the food is basically the same. I just enjoyed the main building lounge so much better. There was quite a bit of room, more tables and in the evening you can watch the band playing on the floor below you. I felt very cramped in the lodge lounge and didn't think that there was adequate seating. Our room in the main building had an incredible view of the castle.

That being said, we do tend to spend a lot of time at the resort and liked being able to spread out in the lounge. We also enjoyed a coffee laced with Bailey's every night, so it really did make it worthwhile for us.

Thanks TammiMcMan,

Since we visit frequently, we also spend a great deal of time at the resort and enjoy the patio/balcony/view/ etc....;)

I guess we must decide if the Concierge experience is worth the extra cost here. We have stayed Concierge at YC, BC, Poly, and AKL and have always enjoyed the service and "perks".

We have looked at the Boca Chica Building with a Lagoon view and it seemed perfectly placed.

Decisions...Decisions!;) (What great problems to have!!!)

Thanks again!
