wow sandy your really busy! I hope tomorow goes smoothly!

Today was fun and also frustrating.

Marc came home last night very late. He finished his shift and someone elses shift and 12 hours of overtime. This was supposed to give him 7 days off straight. Instead of staying the night at his moms house and come up to davis in the morning, he came home last night. He got here about 1:30. So i didnt have class in the morning and we woke up and decided we wanted to eat lunch together. So i skipped my statistics class and went out to lunch with him before work. While I was at work he found out some bad news about his schedule.

The guy that he traded with and who was covering his shift was sick and couldnt come it. So they are making him show up to work tomorrow! This same guy is also still in his probation period and hasnt passed his pack test. He only has one more chance and if he doesnt pass, hes laid off. If he doesnt pass, marc will more than likely have to pick up his shift as well! So he was here for only a few hours and had to leave again. So in retrospect im really glad i skipped class because i was actually able to see him and catch up a little.

Today was one of my friends from works birthday. a bunch of us went to sacramento to sky high. Its a trampoline place. There are big sections of trampolines together with trampoline walls and pads. It was pretty fun. Then afterward we had frozen yogurt. And tomorrow is Picnic Day. its a pretty big day for my campus. Its like our open house and is much much much more of a big deal than any homecoming. We have parades and battle of the bands. We have dachsund? races and tons of little exhibits. A lot of alumni and pre freshman come. This is my first year not participating in the band so i dont know what ill do. In Band our day starts at 4:30 and doesnt end until we stop our party late at night. But by time we ever get to a party everyone is asleep on their feet. We do 2 parades and a battle of the bands that is constantly playing for sometimes 12 hours!:scared1:

:wave2:

A quick drive by before I jump into the shower :car:

CB - I"m sorry to hear about Marc's schedule:guilty:
*It sounds like you had fun with your friend, and that you will have fun today :cool1:

Gotta run!!!

Hey y'all! I just found this thread and haven't had time to read it all but wanted to join if that's ok.

My DH was a vol FF in MI as well as being the township's fire inspector and code enforcement officer. He interviewed here in SC and got a job as a deputy fire marshall. Since I was looking for a job after our move, I applied for a admin position at the FD as well. I've been there just over a year and love it! I'm only a "secretary" but it's still great. Seeing all the guys, having a huge extended family and learning so much has been such a great part of my life. Wouldn't change a thing about any of it!

So...I guess I need to find some time to catch up on this thread :goodvibes

Have a safe day!

:wave2:

hi! Im sam! My fiance is a firefighter here in CA. He finished his academy a little over a year ago, did an internship, and then luckily got a job at an indian reservation down by our home town. I go to school at UC Davis at a wildlife major and marc commutes between davis and work(about 4-5 hours) every couple of days.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Yesterday was all screwed up because my employee was sick, and I had to work unexpectedly :guilty:So I wasn't able to get any of my errands done, and then I had to shut the store down a 1/2 hour early so I could go home and get ready for chuch and the wedding we went to - it was crazy!!! So, now I"m totally behind on everything I needed to do this weekend - I hate it when that happens:headache:

The wedding we went to though was lovely, and it was good to see many friends. I wish everyone's lives, including mine, were not so busy so we could see each other more. Maybe someday - when we all retire:rolleyes:

The girls are not here today, because they spent the night at my inlaws, so it's very quiet here. I'm going to catch up on some things that need to get done, and make a grocery list for tomorrows shopping trip to Aldis. Then we are having dinner at my inlaws, which is very nice of them.:goodvibes

newtodis - :welcome:
You will love this thread!!!! Please come by often and visit - we would love to get to know you!!!!:grouphug:

Have a good day today everyone!!!

Hello everyone!

newtodis - :welcome: My name is Karen! My husband is a carrer FF here in Alabama and he runs a lawn service on his off days. I am an RN. I do pediatric home health. I have three kids - Sarah, 20, junior at U of A; Emily, 14, cheerleader and all around great kid and James, 11, plays baseball, football, hunts, fishes, etc... Come by often! We would love to get to know you!

sam - the trampoline place sounds cool! Emily would love that! How was Picnic Day? Did you have fun? That stinks for Marc! I hope the other guy passes!

sandy - I am sorry about your employee! I know you must have been stressing! I have no excuse for not working out! The weather is great and the gym is about 1 minute away!:confused3 I need to find some inspiration!
Sarah called sevevral times today and is now headed to the ER. She cut her hand at work. It made me think of you when you cut your hand on the knife in your dishwasher. It made need a couple of stitches, she will hopefully call soon.

Much of my weekend has centered around the dogs!:dogdance::dog2::dog: James and I went out Sat. to Lowe's and bought a new spreader and stuff to treat our yard for fleas. (Jim was at work) Then we put it all out and had to spend the rest of the day moving the sprinkler around to get it all watered in. Today I bathed both outside dogs (Fifi gets a bath every week since she stays inside) and trimmed their fur. I think I may break out the clippers in a few days and give them a big haircut - Hannah especially, she has long hair. Keep in mind that they all hate this!! But now all three are clean and flea free and so is the yard.

Have a great night!

It's cold, grey, and rainy here - it stinks!!!
The weather person said we could see snowflakes today:eek: Granted, they won't accumulate, but I still don't want to see them:sad2:

Karen - Did you get fleas inside your house? I'm always so worried about that happening. In fact, I need to buy some Frontline for Sophie - that stuff is so expensive!!!!
**Do have an update on Sarah's hand? I'll send some PD her way!!!:wizard::wizard:

Well, I need to go make Stephanie a lunch - have a good day!!!

sandy- i hope your weather gets sunnier! It must be murphys law about saturday right? Sometimes it feels like it will never go as planned.

karen- i hope sarahs hand it ok and you hear from her soon. How did she cut it?

As sandy already saw on FB I got a guinea pig. Im still not sure what to name it though the pet store said it was a boy, but it is definitely a girl. I hope its not pregnant. :scared:

It looks like we might also be getting another furry friend this week as well. Marc found a puppy that snuck into the engine bay yesterday and she spent the whole day sleeping on his lap and playing with him. He called her sunny. She left at night, but this morning came back to him.:lovestruc Theres lot of dogs up at the reservation and he thinks shes a stray. Hes wanted a dog for a while now and he seems smitten with her. lol. if he takes her hes taking her to the vet this morning to get checked out and take care of the ticks. :thumbsup2

Hi all! We just got home from James' baseball game. It wasn't going very well, bu they rallied the last inning, scored 6 runs and won!!! This is only our 2nd win of the season and everyone was pretty excited even though it's late! Sarah's hand is OK. The doctor at the ER let her choose between stitches or glue - she chose glue! She was very scred of getting stitches. i hope the glue holds and it heals well. Thanks for the PD!

CB - guinea pigs kind of scare me! I am always afraid they will bite me! Will the puppy live with you or is it ok if Marc takes her to the station when he goes?

sandy - snow?? It was in the 70's here again! I really don't think I would do well in a cold climate! I wish we would get a little snow every winter, but that would be plenty for me!

I am going to a leads group early this morning at 7:20am. My friend invited me to come as her guest, because she thinks it would get me some business. We'll see what happens!!

CB - You'll have to keep us posted about the puppy :dog:
**I saw on Facebook that you couldn't find the guinea pig. Did you find it yet?

Karen - Congrats to James and his team for winning the game:cheer2:
**I'm glad Sarah's hand isn't to bad. The glue will probably work well, because Kevin has used it on himself many times (he's cut himself bad many times while working outside). He doesn't like going to the ER for things, so he treats himself:rolleyes:

Well, I better get myself ready for this meeting. I'm glad Kevin is home today to get Steph out the door. Without him home, I wouldn't be able to go.

Have a good day everyone!!

yes i found my guinea pig. Actually my roommate found her when she sneezed. She was curled up inside the guitar stand. :lmao:

The puppy is tiny! maybe a month or so! Ill post pics later. Marc is taking her to the vet today. They are still down in visalia. Im going down there this weekend, and while marc is on shift ill take care of her. Her name is sunny, because she loves to sunbathe supposedly. He wants to take her back and forth to the station, but not until shes trained and will stay in close proximity to the station. She might run off to where shes been at. This way they have a good chance to bond first. Although she seems to really be attached already.

When I hear about people using glue instead of stitches i laugh because of my sister. She took her puppy to get fixed a couple years ago. They were still in CA, but lived pretty far from a town. They had to drive 3 hours to the vet. They got igor(puppy) home and he tore out his stitches! Instead of driving 3 or 4 hours to the nearest e-vet, guess what she and dan(my BIL) did? They superglued him! :eek:My dad was sooo mad! She got a stern talking to about that one. :rotfl: BTW she was about 21 or so when this happened...dan was about 38. They should have known better. lol

We are finally starting to get warmer weather - high of 58 :sunny: Now this may seem cold to many, but it's better than what we've had. Plus, we will have some sunshine today, instead of grey w/ rain. By Friday, we'll have a high of 80 degrees :sunny: I can hardly wait!!!!!:woohoo:

CB - I"m glad you found the guinea pig. Those little buggers get away quick:upsidedow

Well, I gotta eat my grapefruit and make Steph's lunch.
Have a good day!!

Hi! My name is Jen--My dad and brother are both career firefighters in different cities here in NJ. I love having the huge extended family! I am honestly closer with my firemen family than my "real " family--they can drive me nuts, but i wouldnt trade them!

Not to much new here
I took the girls to the library yesterday and brought home about 10 CD's for me to put music on my ipod - I love doing this!!! I also brought home The Da Vinchi Code - the illustrated version. I really looking forward to reading this, because I enjoy the movie, plus, the illustrated version is nice with the pictures:thumbsup2

Have a good day!!

This is a quickie post because I didn't allow myself much time. I didn't fall asleep fast last night, and by the time I dozed off, we had a small spring storm that woke up Katie. She ended up in my bed, and I ended up with no sleep. That child is the biggest bed hog ever!!! I used to say that about Steph, but Katie is much worse!!!!! So, finally at 4:30am I couldn't take it anymore, so I carried her to her own bed. But Kevin had to leave really early today, so he was waking up at 5am. I did doze off after he woke up, but the alarm was ringing at 6am for me to get up. I did snooze it more than normal, because I'm so darn tired. So basically, I didn't get any real sleep last night - just cat naps :faint:

So, to everyone, hello :wave2: I love ya!!! Now I gotta run!!!

Have a good day everyone!!!

Hi all! TGIF!!! The weather here is still great! We have Parent's Weekend with Sarah's sorority. there are events all weekend. We have a reception tonite, mom/daughter tea Satu. morning, clay shoot Sat. afternoon, crawfish boil Sat. night and brunch Sun. morning. Jim, Emily & I will be driving up and staying with Jim's sister. James has a game tomorrow so my mom is keeping him down here for the weekend.
Sarah's hand is doing fine. She cut it trying to catch a glass that someone dropped at work - it broke!

sandy - glad your weather is improving! I have been thining about reading the Davinci Code. It looks interesting. I read the Mortal Instruments series this past weekend. It was good. Emi is reading it now. You know we love some demons and vampires!

sam - how is sunny? I can't wait to see pics!

Hi everyone! We are home from Parent's Weekend. We had a really good time! How was everyone's weekend?

Yawn!!!!

We been having so much wind around here, that it kept me up part of the night. The weatherman just said it's going to get more windy today:eek: It's so windy now, that my ceiling fan in my bedroom is moving (the windows are cracked open). THIS WIND HAS GOT TO GO!!!!

Karen - I"m so glad you had a good time with Sarah :goodvibes I'm glad her had is doing better. One of the first lessons I have taught my employees, is to never try and catch falling glass (we work with sheets of glass everyday). I've told them that I would much rather replace glass, than have their hand all cut up. I've seen what glass can do to a hand (my own included) and it's never pretty:eek:
**If you do get The DaVinchi Code, make sure you get the illustrated version. It's nice having pictures of things so you can understand the symbolism better :thumbsup2

Well, I gotta run and make Stephanie her lunch - have a good day!!!

Good morning everyone!

sandy - how is the weather?

sam - how is school? How is the new puppy?

We are so ready for the school year to be over! I went back to the dentist yesterday. I don't know if i mentioned it before, but I have a huge dentist phobia!!!!:scared1: Well, I have been making myself go to get all caught up. Today my jaw HURTS! It popped a couple of times yesterday and now it hurts to open my mouth. I am such a whiner!!
