Blueeyes - I'm glad you are enjoying your teaching job:) Your students can sense that, and that makes them enjoying coming to school :goodvibes

I do love it--it gets crazy sometimes but i cannot believe I am more than halfway done my first year! By the way, im Jen

I have not read all the replies, but I wonder why it says "wifes" of firefighters. It should read partners or spouses of firefighters.

I'm a paid as well as vounenteer. At work we have lots of women, at the vol. station not so much. women can vounteer though.

fireflymedic - I believe the simple answer is that slo (who started the thread) is the wife of a VFF. If you read through you will see we have wives, husbands, siblings, parents, parent-in-laws, etc... We also have women who are FFs! There are volunteers and career FF. All are welcome! So please feel free to come and visit our happy thread any time!

blueeyes - we love having you here!

sandy - :goodvibes ! Good morning!

We will have a busy day today. We have CCD and Mass this morning. Emi has to be at the gym from 1 - 6. She will have an hour break between practices. I will be glad when this next competition is over and she isn't doing double duty anymore. i am glad she could fill in on the other squad though. She has some school friends on that squad so she likes getting to spend time with them. James has baseball practice at 2 and there will be a parent's meeting at 3:45. I am glad I went ahead and did laundry yesterday because there won't be time tonight!

Have a great day!

Great response - thanks!!!!!:goodvibes

fireflymedic - :welcome:
Please come by often - we would love to get to know you!!!!

Karen - Good luck with your busy day!!!:wizard:
**I did get everything done before the rain - thank goodness!!! It's been raining ever since, and will be all day today. It's so gloomy outside :umbrella:

Blueeyes - I'm glad you took the thread that way - we love having you!!! :grouphug:

Well, I gotta run and take Sophie outside!
Have a good day!!!

sandy - How are you this am? I saw there were tornados in IN - anywhere near you?

Well it's another Monday and I am hating dayllight savings time!! My body is screaming that I should still be in bed. Today should be a slower day at work. We will only see our phototherapy babies and we will do chart review on all the others.
I started reading the book Wicked this weekend. Has anyone else read it?

The time change always messes me up too--i was up late last night because i just couldnt get tired..but it was horrible getting uot of bed today....its gonnna be a long day!

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday.
I worked out instead, and found out it made my neck hurt again :guilty:
So, I've come to the conclusion that the exercising I'm doing inside the house is just not a good idea. I'm looking forward to walking again, once it's light out in the morning, and I'm hoping that doesn't make my neck hurt (it did last year when I over did it). I really don't want to return to the Chiropractor - I"m starting to wonder if my adjustments did more harm than good :scratchin I guess only time will tell.

Karen - There was inclement weather on Sunday, and we did have tornado watches, but nothing happened by us - thank God!!!! :)
**I'm the opposite about daylight savings time - I love it!!!! I do have a hard time adjusting to it too, but I love love love it being light out longer. I feel so much better with more sunlight :sunny:

Blueeyes - How was your class yesterday? Were your kids tired from the time change?

Well, I'm off to wake Stephanie up and get her to school - I think I may drive her today - it's so yucky outside :umbrella:
Have a good day!!!

sandy - I am glad you didn't have weather problems! I was worried! I am sorry about your neck! I hope the walking will go well!

Mom and I have revamped our diet strategy. We are doing a daily reporting (to each other) od everything we eat and our work outs. We will weigh each week and just keep at it! I really love WW, but we have all the info, etc.. (even the new stuff) and with money being tight that is $52 a month I can use somewhere else. If it doesn't work we can always go back to WW. I have been doing some running (not much) and walking and some ab and arm work. The warm weather has helped. We have been up around 80 the last couple of days. We will see!!

:surfweb:

So tired this morning!!!!!

I woke up very abruptly last night at approx. 2:30am to the electricity being off in the house (something went off, and I literally sat up straight in bad trying to figure out what was going on). Kevin woke up too, and we didn't go back to sleep because Kevin was worried about the sump pump, and I was worried about him not getting to work on time, or Stephanie getting up for school. The electricity came back on at approx 5:45am, so I was happy about that. I told Kevin though that I feel like it's really really early, like when we get up for Florida. I would love to go back to bed :faint:

Karen - I hope the walking go well too. If I get neckaches and headaches, like last year, than I will need to try other things like pilates or yoga. I'm going to play this by ear, and see what happens.
**I wish you and your mom well with your contined weight loss goals:wizard: It's a good idea to stop WW and save some money. Now that you know how to do it, that should be easy.

Well, I must go wake up Stephanie. Her clock is all messed up, and her alarm isn't going off.
Have a good day!!!

I think so---disney!! A friend of mine works on cruise ships and is home for only a few weeks..so were doing disney!

That's great!!!!:cool1:
What are you doing? Where are you staying? Where are you eating? What's the details? :teeth:
I'm living WDW trips through all of you guys this year, because we aren't going :sad1: We decided to stay home until the economy gets better. My DH's work has laid many people off, and he doesn't think his job is in jeopardy, but you never know. I think we would be foolish to think is job is untouchable.

I have off today because my college employee is home:banana: but I'm suffering from a headache that I've had for 3 days now:guilty: I just can't shake it!!:sad2: There's nothing more irritating than waking up with the same headache day after day:headache:

I hope you all have a good day today!!!!

I have to start this post out by saying how much I love my Pediatrician!!!!!
Here's why.......
Katie's been having a cough that's been getting croupier all week - started Monday. Her nose also started running on Wednesday night. She has had no fever, and has not acted real sick, so I thought she just had a cold. I've been giving her Mucinex during the day and Dimetapp at night. Yesterday at 4pm she comes crying to me about her ear hurting ALOT. The last time this happened her ear drum burst, so I immediately called her doctor. They know me VERY well there, and told me they would talk to the doctor and see what she says in regards to us coming in, or them just calling a prescription - I said "okay" When Kevin got home a 1/2 hour later, Katie was crying more, and I told him I'm just going, and when they call back, to tell them I'm on my way.

When I got there, the receptionist said she was dialing my phone when she saw my car, and that the doctor did want to see her. When we got into a room, and the doctor came in, she said to me, "I told Cindy that this is not a family that messes around. When Sandy says there's something wrong with her kids, that means there is something really wrong with her kids." This made me feel so good that she knows me, knows my family, and knows that I'm not blowing anything out of proportion. She looked in Katie's ears and the painful ear has a full blown ear infection, and the other ear has the beginning of an ear infection. Then she listened to her lungs, and said that her one lung was full of fluid:eek: Basically, she has the beginning stages of pneumonia, and if I would have not gone in, she would have been a very sick little girl by Monday:eek: With Katie's history of having RSV badly twice when she was a baby, her lungs are more susceptible to this type of stuff. So she's on a strong antibiotic, and an inhaler (which she is having a hard time understanding how to breath that mediciane in, but she'll get it by the today). She also needs to use her vaporizer, and sit in a hot shower to breath in the steam (we did this yesterday, and you should have seen the steam in my bathroom - it was pretty funny. We are going to do this again tonight).

The doctor warned me that this could get worse before it gets better. She said I should expect a fever and the cough could get worse, but it's possible we caught it early enough that this may not happen - I pray it doesn't!!! She told me on the way out how grateful she is for not just calling in a prescription, and for actually seeing her. I told her how grateful I am to her for fitting us in at the very very last second of the day.

So that's how I ended my Friday, and I'm praying that Katie doesn't get worse.

So today and tomorrow, we are just going to be home, so Katie can rest rest rest.

Thanks for all for your kind thoughts about me and my constent headaches. I'm starting to feel a little better today, so that's good, because I need to focus on Katie. I'm hoping I continue to feel better today, and best by tomorrow. Thanks again!!!!

Well, Katie is now up, and she is hungry, so I'm going to get her some breakfast.

Have a good day everyone!!!

Katie has not become sicker - thank God for that!!!!! But it's hard for me to know if she's any "better". I never heard the weezing in her lung to begin with (I never can hear weezing - this is not the first time Katie has had weezing) and the ear infection snuck up on us like a snake in the grass. I'm thinking she's getting better because she's not coughing as much, she hasn't run a fever, her nose isn't running as much, she did mention her ear is still hurting last night, but she wasn't crying when she said it, like last time, so that's a good thing. I'm going to have Kevin listen to her lungs today, and see what he thinks. The Doctor said for Kevin to keep an ear open this weekend, because he has a stethescope, and is an EMT - so we'll see what he hears later.

Today will be a long day though, because Katie was upset she couldn't play outside yesterday, and she'll be even more upset today. She feels Stephanie should stay inside too, but I can't make Stephanie stay inside - so we are going to have many many tears later this afternoon - I"m not looking forward to that at all :sad2:

I'm going to take advantage of staying in today with cleaning the house and putting up our Easter decorations. I also am going to go through some things in the attic to get ready for the garage sale I"m having in May. So, this day should be very productive:thumbsup2

Well, I must get going and give Katie her inhaler - she doesn't like it at all. :sad2: She said it makes her tongue taste bad, but she's a trooper, and takes it w/o a fight, which I'm grateful for!!!
Have a good day!!!

Katie was crabby most of the day yesterday because she couldn't play outside:mad: (that face is hers) I guess I can't blame her - it was beautiful outside :sunny: I tried keeping her mind off Stephanie being outside, but it wasn't easy:sad2: I was so glad when it was time for Stephanie to come in, so I didn't have to hear about it anymore :upsidedow

Katie is getting better all the time, which makes me so grateful!!!!:woohoo:
She is suppossed to go to daycare tomorrow, but I'm going to keep her with me - I really don't want her running around outside and getting sweated up and catching a chill. She'll be so happy about that - she loves going to work with me:banana:

Yesterday I didn't any cleaning done, which was a bummer, but I did get other things done. I got up in the attic and went through some boxes, and tagged and boxed more things for the garage sale. I decorated for Easter - the most I've decorated in years. I found more Easter decorations in the attic, that I haven't seen since we moved 4 years ago. Normally Kevin goes in the attic, but it's easier for me to do it, and I've been finding tons of stuff since I've been going up there. So the house is very springy and Eastery looking - it's great!!! :flower:

I take Stephanie tonight to the ENT again to get the true results of her hearing test, and see what he says about a 3rd surgery. 50% of me hopes for the surgery and the other 50% doesn't hope for the surgery. I"ll let you know tomorrow what he says.

Well, I need to get Steph up for school - have a good day today everyone!!

Happy St. Patricks Day!!!!!

I am so happy to say that Stephanie DOES NOT need a 3rd surgery on her ear :woohoo: The hearing test showed that her ear drum was fine, and the doctor said everything looked fine. The glands in her ears that cause waxy ears are on overdrive though, and that is what is probably leaking out of her ear:scared: The last time we saw him, he had to scrap wax out of her ear, and he said that the other ear had wax in it last night. This makes sense, because when her ear drains she's never sick, her ear never hurts, it just drains. I asked if this is something she will grow out of, and he said no, this is her makeup, and she'll be like this for life - poor thing:guilty: So he gave me perscription drops to put in her ears once a week to help control these wax glands. Stephanie is not happy that this is a lifelong thing, and not a couple of week thing. I told her that if this is the worst thing that happens to her, than she needs to be very grateful, because many people have worse lifelong ailments to take care of.

Katie is still doing better, but she is spending the day with me today - I don't want her at daycare. This way I know she gets her inhaler when she's suppossed to, and I don't want them thinking she's sicker than what she is (I wouldn't blame them for this at all), Plus, I don't want her running around outside and getting sweated up - we want no relapses:sad2:

Well, I gotta run and get this day started
Have a great day everyone!!!
