I have to start this post out by saying how much I love my Pediatrician!!!!!
Here's why.......
Katie's been having a cough that's been getting croupier all week - started Monday. Her nose also started running on Wednesday night. She has had no fever, and has not acted real sick, so I thought she just had a cold. I've been giving her Mucinex during the day and Dimetapp at night. Yesterday at 4pm she comes crying to me about her ear hurting ALOT. The last time this happened her ear drum burst, so I immediately called her doctor. They know me VERY well there, and told me they would talk to the doctor and see what she says in regards to us coming in, or them just calling a prescription - I said "okay" When Kevin got home a 1/2 hour later, Katie was crying more, and I told him I'm just going, and when they call back, to tell them I'm on my way.
When I got there, the receptionist said she was dialing my phone when she saw my car, and that the doctor did want to see her. When we got into a room, and the doctor came in, she said to me, "I told Cindy that this is not a family that messes around. When Sandy says there's something wrong with her kids, that means there is something really wrong with her kids." This made me feel so good that she knows me, knows my family, and knows that I'm not blowing anything out of proportion. She looked in Katie's ears and the painful ear has a full blown ear infection, and the other ear has the beginning of an ear infection. Then she listened to her lungs, and said that her one lung was full of fluid

Basically, she has the beginning stages of pneumonia, and if I would have not gone in, she would have been a very sick little girl by Monday

With Katie's history of having RSV badly twice when she was a baby, her lungs are more susceptible to this type of stuff. So she's on a strong antibiotic, and an inhaler (which she is having a hard time understanding how to breath that mediciane in, but she'll get it by the today). She also needs to use her vaporizer, and sit in a hot shower to breath in the steam (we did this yesterday, and you should have seen the steam in my bathroom - it was pretty funny. We are going to do this again tonight).
The doctor warned me that this could get worse before it gets better. She said I should expect a fever and the cough could get worse, but it's possible we caught it early enough that this may not happen - I pray it doesn't!!! She told me on the way out how grateful she is for not just calling in a prescription, and for actually seeing her. I told her how grateful I am to her for fitting us in at the very very last second of the day.
So that's how I ended my Friday, and I'm praying that Katie doesn't get worse.
So today and tomorrow, we are just going to be home, so Katie can rest rest rest.
Thanks for all for your kind thoughts about me and my constent headaches. I'm starting to feel a little better today, so that's good, because I need to focus on Katie. I'm hoping I continue to feel better today, and best by tomorrow. Thanks again!!!!
Well, Katie is now up, and she is hungry, so I'm going to get her some breakfast.
Have a good day everyone!!!
