Hi eveyone!

Tomorrow is DD16's Teen Arts day. It will be her first time dancing alone for an audience. She is very I'm sure she'll do fine, but I do feel her pain.

I can't type long..lots to do to get ready for tomorrow.

This is going to be one busy day for me!!!!!

I need to get to work early so I can continue preparing for this car show + I need to get work ready for my employee to do tomorrow + help customers (I've been having more business, which has been wonderful ) Then I need to leave at 4pm to go get Katie, get us all changed, do hair, so we can go out to dinner with my in-laws at Horseshoe Casino - Jack Binnons (sp?). It's my in-laws 40th Anniversary + my MIL just retired (her last day was 4/30). Then we are going to their house to open their gifts, then come home, get the girls in bed, do some final prep for the car show, and then finally go to bed Yep.......I'm going to be tired when this day is over!!!

sandy - wow! You are busy! I hope the weather is great for you tomorrow! That is wonderful that you have had more business of late!

James' baseball team had a game last night. It was to decide which team would be the champs for the first half of the season. The first half was a little rough - we were down by 5! Our defense held them after that and in a huge last inning rally (with 2 outs already!) we scored 5 which put us ahead!!! Our defense held them off on their last at bat and we won!! Woohoo!

James' Honor's Day is today. Jim and I are taking the morning off to go. Then tonite Emily is donating her hair to Locks of Love again! We do have a baseball game this weekend, but other than that no real big plans. James has informed me he wants to get lots of sleep this weekend! What parent doesn't love hearing that??!!

Our dinner last night at Horseshoe Casino was just wonderful!!!
They treated us like Kings and Queens - very good service!!!
If any of you ever want to try this restaurant, I really recommend it

Karen - WOW! James had a big weekend! His team won and he had his Honor Day!! How Cool!! Tell him Congratulations
How sweet of Emily to donate her hair. My DD wanted to do this but it's not long enough yet.

Sandy - I hope you have a great - SUNNY - day at the car show. Hopefully people will be out and about and in a buying mood!!


Kayla did very well at Teen Arts yesterday! It was her first time performing alone in front of strangers. The dance instructor doing her critique gave her an 8 out of 10 and recommended her for Sate Teen Arts!! Unfortunately, NJ being NJ cancelled State Teen Arts because of funding!!
We are so proud of her for overcoming her fears!!

Unfortunately, between the long hot day spent outside at the Teen Arts Festival AND 2 1/2 hours of dance class that evening she got severely dehydrated and was sick all last night She's feeling a little better today but is still exhausted and can't really get up and around yet.

Jocelyn is helping to take care of Kayla and me...bad day for me...to much walking and standing yesterday. She's being such a good helper.

DH and DS are doing a job today so it's just us girls at home. (me), (Kayla) and (Jocelyn)

What an awful day yesterday!!!
It was so cold and windy, that it made the day very unenjoyable It was so windy, that my American Family friend and I (we were next to each other) had to literally hold the tents down, because they would blow away if we didn't (hers did blow away early in the morning). Finally by 11:30am it started spitting rain, and Kevin and I decided to take my tent down, and put away everything in it. He told me to go walk around and hand out my coupons while he packed up the car. Then after I came back, I told my AmFam friend that I would mind her tent, so she could go hand out some pens. The car show gave out the awards at 12:30pm and then we were out of there!!!!!!! (they were suppossed to give out awards at 4pm). I came home, got the girls, put Katie down for a nap, and Stephanie and I laid on my bed and cuddled under a blanket - I was so so cold !!!!!! Kevin was driving to Indy that afternoon, and he said he was going to have it butt warmers on the whole time Yesterday was not nice, not nice at all!!!!


Kimba - That's so great about Kayla , but I'm sorry she became ill last night I hope she is feeling much better today Jocelyn sounds like such a wonderful young lady You have a very lovely family!!!!!

Kayla is much better today. Back to her normal self I'm still recovering but I'm getting there. I was able to go outside for a little bit earlier today It's a beautiful day here. We have to enjoy it while we can, the bugs will be out soon and we hide inside till mid July
It's REALLY bad!!

I had a pretty productive day yesterday.
Stephanie and I finished her report and her poster that goes with it. Then I cleaned, cleaned, cleaned for about 4 hours. Vacuumed, dusted, Murphy Oil Soaped all the wood work - I felt really good when that was all done I really wanted to be outside (it was a beautiful day here), but I had to get that cleaning done, and now it is


Kimba - I'm glad Kayla is feeling a little better - I'll send even more PD her way
**What kind of bugs do you have? I"m nervous to ask We have a HUGE issue with boxelder bugs here, but we are changing the siding on our house (we know have cedar siding, and we are changing to aluminum siding) and that will make that stop immediately

Morning everyone! We had a good weekend. James' game was rained out Saturday soEmiily and I spent the day shopping. First we got her hair done - when she donated it they just cut off the ponytail and straightened the edges. Then we shopped. We got her dress and shoes for her Athletic Banquet. We then went to Buckle and got her a pair of jeans - $70+ - Mom paid for part of them for a treat for donating her hair. At least they hem them for free! We are having a hard time with Emi because she is 13, very curvy but very petite!! We can't find pants that fit her curves and aren't too long! I got a sweater and a new dress - I don't usually wear dresses, but I need some stuff for Rush week with Sarah's sorority.

kimba - I hope your DD is feeling much better! How disappointing that she made it to the next level, but now there is no next level!

sandy - I am sorry Saturday was so yucky! Hopefully the coupons will generate some more business!

I spent the day shopping for summer clothes for the kids. I am beat!! We did well though. I got everybody everything they needed plus some extra for our Disney trip.

Karen - Stephanie is exactly like your DD, when it comes to how pants fit - it's difficult to find her things - even slims aren't good enough I'm glad you were able to find something for Emily, and it's nice that the place hems them too I need to find somewhere like that

Jim got up early and made muffins this morning - yum!!
Last night was nice - nobody had practice or a meeting! James has practice today after school and Jim is back at the station so I guess I will have to have his coach pick him up! Emily will start Allstar practice next week. Back to busy!! (ok we were always busy!) Have a great day everyone!!

My DH was a fireman....until he was injured....I hated the thought of him being in this field until the day we were at a parade and he was driving the firetruck. He was smiling from ear to ear, everyone was waving, the kids on the street wanted the horn, he gave it to them...that second I was so proud and realized how selfish I was being to him. yes there are risks, yes there could be a day he didn't come home and yes he was doing something he loved...how do you argue with that....

Yesterday was absolutly fabulous - finally a warm day!!!!
It makes me so excited to be able to plant some flowers soon
My mom and I are going next Wednesday to do that - I can hardly wait - I love buying my flowers!!!!! :flowers: What I can hardly wait for even more, is that I can start having most Wednesday's off because my college employee is coming home - so excited!!!!! I love the fact that my staff is getting more and more experience

Hi everyone! Im not new to the boards, but I just saw this thread. my DFi just finished his fire academy and has secured a paid internship with a fire department. Were both 19 right now and while he is working, etc. I am going to college at UC davis and hopefully veterinarian school afterward.

So I was just wondering how you all deal with wierd schedules, worrying, and everything else. As everyone else here has experience being the wife of a firefighter I'm wondering what to expect. Thanks in advance for your insights.

Sam - welcome!! I find being married to and raising a family with a FF takes lots of planning!!! My DH is a career FF. He works 24 on, 48 off and runs a yard business on the side. He usually works about 50-60 hours OT each pay period. I am a nurse & we have 3 kids. We are blessed to have family to help with juggling schedules! I do have to say I have never been anything but a FF wife, so I don't know any other way! Alot of the FF around here are volunteers, so they work fulltime and fight fire on the side. I couldn't imagine my DH (or DW or DD or DS) jumping up and running out of dinner, games, etc... to take a call! Once I get him home he's mine! I hope you will come to visit us often! We would love to get to know you! Karen

Hi Sam Welcome to the crazy world of being a firefighter's wife(or soon to be wife in your case)!

You never stop worrying. My dad has been a firefighter for almost 60 years and my mom still worries when he's on a call. Of course he's not running into any burning buildings anymore! But although you worry I think eventually you make a peace with it. I know that my DH will do everything in his power to be safe and I just trust in God to take care of him. That's pretty much all you can do - if you don't want to drive yourself crazy!

My DH is volunteer so there are no schedules. He runs fire and rescue and the Dive team. Whenever the pager goes off - he goes!! He had a call at my DS birthday party and had to leave. The kids are really good about it....now if he runs out on my birthday
Just kidding!!

Seriously, you'll get used to the craziness eventually.

I think I've seen you posting on the podcast boards....Awful about Bawb...I still miss him
