Good very very rainy morning everyone!!
I guess today is another day that I'm not going to plant my flowers
Why is it, that every day that I can plant my flowers the weather is crappy I've come to the conclusion, that these flowers refuse to be planted!! I guess I will use this rainy day to clean the downstairs and touch up the upstairs. It hasn't gotten very dirty since last weekend (we are never home )


Today is the Indy 500 Any of you watching??? Poor Kevin didn't go to the race today with much excitement. The Indy weather is talking 70% rain there, and he found out last night that his dad wasn't going because he fell off a ladder and hurt his back Him and his dad have been going together since 1983, so you can imagine how sad he is about not having his dad today Kevin did take a change of clothes with him, because if the race gets cancelled for tomorrow, he is staying the night with his best friend, who has a hotel room in Indy. So we'll see what happens today. I hope the rain stops long enough to get the race in because that will make for a long weekend for all those people down there if it doesn't.


Karen - I'm glad you enjoyed the movie and how fun that your kids got all that stuff!!!!

Hello! We had sunny, nice weather here. I worked Saturday until 5. One of Jim's Marine Corps buddies amd his wife stayed with us Saturday night. We went out to dinner and then to a club that Jim's friends own. It was a nice visit. Of course we were home before midnight because we really aren't party animals anymore!!! They headed out around lunchtime today. We just realxed after that - no yard work or projects for us today.

Thank you to all the veterans in your family, and mine, that served to keep us free!!!!

I had the most productive, wonderful day yesterday!!! I cleaned the whole house in the morning, and then I went outside and pulled a bizzilion weeds and finished planting my flowers I went to bed feeling pretty successful!!!!!


Last night Stephanie and I watched Charlotte's Web, and what a wonderful movie!!!!! I enjoyed it so much!!! I read the book when I was a kid, but I didn't remember much of it at all. If you didn't see it, I would recommend it!!


Karen - How fun to have some time with friends like that!!! Sounds like a great time!!!!!

We had a pretty low key Memorial Day yesterday (which is a nice change). We took a ride to Kevin's parents to see how is dad is doing, and he's doing much better - thank goodness, I was worried about him.

Today I have a meeting with someone from the newspaper (advertising), and I'm really hoping that sign goes up today If it doesn't, than I'm really going to be mad!!!!!

Sandy - did your sign go up today? I hope so! I know you must be frustrated! I did not get the VA job and I have decided to move to the other job full time. This is the company I do part time stuff for sometimes. It will be more money (woohoo) and a great group of people. i will have to take call every other weekend, but that's just part of being a nurse!

What a stressful day yesterday!!!!!
MY SIGN IS STILL NOT UP!!!!!
The sign guy totally dropped the ball, and didn't fill out all the right paperwork. So I had to make a bizillion phone calls to get all this right, and make sure all the right people filled out their paperwork, and then make sure that the filled paperwork was sent to the town, and received in the right hands at the town. What a joke!!!!! So....now that all this paperwork is filled out, and the correct people in the town have received it, I should hopefully get my sign today This whole thing is like a soap opera


Karen - I"m sorry you didn't get the VA job , but I'm glad you have that other job available It's sounds like you will like it!!!!


Well, I gotta go and get ready to receive, or not receive my sign this morning. If this sign doesn't go up today, heads are going to role!!!! (well not really, but it sounded good )

I FINALLY GOT MY SIGN UP!!!!!

Yesterday was a very very good day!!!!
My sign was put up first thing, and then the electrician came in by 2pm to put the electricity to it (that was a nice surprise. I didn't think they would come so soon). We took a family drive to the store at 8pm to see how it looked turned on, and it looked great

Then yesterday afternoon I interviewed a great college girl to hire for the store. She unfortunately is only here for the summer, which is a drag, but she wants to work whenever she's home on break and holidays - that's awesome!!!! She's going to school for interior design, and has some experience - perfect!!!! So I think I'm going to hire her today

Then yesterday my local artist and friend, brought her first items to hang/sell in the store. She's very excited about store, and I'm excited to see her more often because I really enjoy her company.

So all in all, yesterday was a good day!!!

Today I have the visa/mc guy coming to set up my visa/mc machine and teach me how to use it. I'm extrememly familiar with these machines as an employee, but not as an owner. So all this is very new to me


Thanks everyone for your well wishes with getting that sign up - it worked!!!!!

Well, I gotta go get ready for my day
I need to get to the store by 9:30 or so in case the UPS man comes, which is different everyday. He will take my items to my friends insurance agency, but I hate cluttering her office up with my packages (even though she doesn't care, she's so sweet).

Hey all - I'm DISing for the first time from my store

I'm anxiously waiting for a delivery to come, because I really have to go. Stephanie and Katie have a b-day party they need to go to at 4:30, and I have a feeling they are going to be late. Luckily, the party is for my friend who is in the same mall as me, and I already told her that if this delivery takes forever then the girls will be late. She totally understood!!!


I hired my first employee today!!! She can't start until June 21st, which is to bad, but I really like her, so I won't hold that against her She is going out of town on the 8th, but she is going to come in a couple days next week to help get the store cleaned up and ready for my grand opening party on June 8th - this was totally her offer, which I thought was great!!!


Well, I gotta run - hopefully my delivery will be here ASAP

The alarm company called me at 4:30am to tell us there was a glass break alarm that went off at the store. So I rushed out of bed, got dressed, raced over there, to find out nothing was wrong. The police officer went inside the store with me to make sure everything was fine, and it was. So I have to call the alarm company later and try to figure something out. The police officer told me that a semi going down RT 30 could have vibrated the windows enough to set off the alarm. This alarm has to be made less sensitive.

So I came back home and went to bed (even though I was going to be up in an hour anyway). So when I did get up at my normal 5:45am I went on the computer, and no DIS It wasn't worth going back to bed, so I sorted through my emails, and did some other things. By the time the DIS was back up, it was to late because I had to get Stephanie off to school.

So now, I'm typing this as I'm finishing breakfast, and then Katie and I are off to do a couple of errands and then head off to the store - I have a ton of stuff to do there today.

I hate waking up in the middle of the night! I am glad everything was OK! I have a four day weekend. We are just relaxing right now. It is 11:47 and my early bird son is asleep. He got up with his dad this morning and then came and got in bed with me. I am up and he is still asleep! I love summer! He has his last baseball game tonight. I am looking forward to the end of the season!

Tonight we are celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary, which is technically tomorrow. Kevin and I are going to downtown Chicago, and having dinner at Weber Grill . My MIL and FIL are keeping the girls overnight, which is great, because now we don't have to feel like we need to rush home It should be a very nice night!!!!


Karen - Enjoy your 4 day weekend!!!
Don't you love it when your kids crawl into bed with you?! I do!!!!
I think it's because, even though they try and act older and cool, it's so sweet when they can put that aside and crawl in bed with their mom and cuddle like when they were a baby or toddler.
I treasure those moments!!!

I love when the kids get in bed with me. Sarah will still snuggle up with me! I worked with Azalea City yesterday and today. It's good practice for when I go fulltime. I will turn in my notice Tuesday when I go to work. I am giving a four week notice. I am so nervous. I hate feeling like I am disappointing someone. I know it's silly! I am doing what's best for my family! Well I am off to get ready for work!!

We had a very lovely evening!!
We walked around downtown, and did a little browsing through stores.
Then we went out to dinner, and our dinner was fabulous as normal from the Weber Grill
Afterwards, we did some more walking, and then did a 1 hour carriage ride - very romantic!
Then we had a sundae at Ghiradellis and came home


This morning we are going to take advantage of the girls being at my MIL's and go see Pirates III - I am so excited!!! I bought a new Pirates shirt that I'm going to wear that says "I Love Jack". I wasn't going to buy it last night, but Kevin talked me into it

I did love the movie!!!!

I do want to see it again, to pick up on things I missed.

The whole story about Calipso was a little confusing, but if I see it again, maybe I will understand it better.

Did you stay for the last part of the movie at the end of the credits?

Thank goodness I'm a DISer to know about that, because if I wasn't, I'd be gone as soon as the credits started.

So....do you think there will be a 4th one?
I saw something on tv saying there won't be, but the movie was left wide open to have a 4th one continue it.
It will be interesting to see what happens.

Today my new employee starts at the store, and I"m pretty excited about it. There are so many things that she can help me with. Plus, she is going to wait for a freight shipment while I go serve lunch at Stephanie's school.

I woke up with a screaming headache this morning
The stress of this Grand Opening party is really starting to get to me.
Yesterday my delivery didn't come until 6pm, and then I rushed to get Katie from daycare, rushed home, gobbled my dinner, and then we all went back to the store until 10pm. I can hardly wait until this party is over!!!!!!


The good news yesterday is 2 things:
*My new employee is very very nice, and I think she is going to work out great She offered to come in today, so she can finish her project. She felt this was better because then tomorrow she can focus on helping me get the store ready for the party Friday - I thought that was very assertive of her (in a good way)
*I had a customer come in yesterday - how cool!!!!! They asked if I was open, and I told them I wasn't, but I'd love to help them if they didn't mind the disorganization, and me calling them with a price because my prices aren't all in the computer yet. They said that was fine - so they stayed and picked something out.


Karen - I really want to see At World's End again too I know there will be many things that I will see that I didn't see before (it was that way with the other Pirate movies too). You should see the HUGE Pirate poster that I'm going to get for the backroom at my store. It's 70" long - awesome!!!!!

Stephanie has 2 more days of school and then she's done!!!
