We had a very nice day here yesterday
I was a relaxing fun day here with both our families
We also had some good pool time and we all had some really good laughs in there. You never know what's going to happen when you get the whole family in a pool together
It was a good day!!!!!

Well there was no wi-fi at the condo, but I found some at this quaint little coffee shop. It's a rainy afternoon, so I am sipping coffee, playing on the laptop and pretending the noisy kids on the shop's computer aren't with me!!!

Sandy - I'm glad ya'll had a good day yesterday. It sounds fun!

We had some beach & pool time today before the rain. We will probably go back to the pool this evening. The kids like to swim at night. Well, I will check in again later!

I think this is the latest I have ever checked in

I was to tired to get us the morning and DIS because last night at 1:30am we got a phone call saying that the security alarm was going off at the store . So I had to get up and come here to turn it off. Then I was wide awake and couldn't fall back asleep for a long time. Then when I did finally fall asleep, I felt someone poking me at 4am, and it was Katie. She woke up from the thunderstorm. Then soon after that, Stephanie was woken up from the thunderstorm. I put them both on the floor next to my bed, and we all fell back asleep. What a night I'm sure tired today!!!!

When I got to work, I called the alarm company and told them that the police officer told me "it was time to fire my alarm company!!" I also told them that the town was going to start billing me $100 a false alarm, and that I'm going to take that $100 out of the bill I owe them - I'm not paying that!!!

Today the newspaper came to photograph me and the store. They are doing an article in the paper, and when I find out when it's going to print. I will give you all the link to see it online - I'm so excited!!! I hope this gives me some much needed exposure!!!


Karen - It sounds like you are having a nice, relaxing time I hope the rest of your week continues that way

After the store closes today, we are going to the first of 3 parades. We have so many coupons to hand out (3 reams of paper, each piece of paper had 3 coupons. So I've been cutting coupons the last couple of days). I'm really praying that I see some of these coupons returned. Tomorrow is parade #2.

Hi everyone!

Sorry I have been missing from here for a while. I've just been staying super busy. Although I haven't been posting I have been reading along just about every day to see what's been going on.

Sandy - Don't get discouraged about the lack of customers. It'll take time! I bet by the Christmas season you'll be posting on here that you hardly have any time for yourself because the shop is keeping you so busy!!! Please make sure you do post the link when the newspaper prints the picture and article. I'd love to see it.

Karen - I hope you're having a fantastic and relaxing time!

We've just been staying busy with normal summer stuff...

DH has been working a lot on getting his greenhouse operational - it's a very exciting time. He's wanted this for a long time!

DD was up for Father's Day and we did have a nice dinner together. She spent some time talking with DH. She so wants everything to be back to normal with him and it's just not going to happen overnight - if ever. But at least they are talking.

A friend of mine is having a belated bridal shower for DD next weekend (up here). DD is very excited about it. She knew when they "eloped" that she was probably giving up the idea of a bridal shower or wedding gifts. So the idea of it now is very exciting for her.

We are taking our summer vacation July 15th through the 20th. I am so ready for it! We're going to Gatlinburg and plan to spend a lot of time just relaxing by the pool!!

Today looks like it's going to be another nice day so I'm heading out to get another pick-up full of mulch for my front beds. Our front yard is finally starting to look nice - for the first time in years we've got some real landscaping going on! DH is off so I'm sure he'll be working on the greenhouse.

It rained so much yesterday and luckily the rain stopped long enough for the parade to happen. Because of the rain, there weren't as many people as normal, so we only handed out approx. 1/2 of the coupons we had. We are hoping for nicer weather today, and more people at the parade today - especially because today's parade is our hometown parade.


Kathy - So good to see you!! How are you feeling? I was stunned to see about your DD eloping - when did that happen?

After a reoccurring knee problem made it difficult for her to use the equipment at her old job, Sandy began thinking about realizing the dream her grandmother always had for her and opened her own business, using the 20 years of experience she has building custom frames.

"My husband starting doing research on equipment that would be OK with my knee problems," Sandy said. "We found the right equipment, and I thought about how my grandmother had always pushed for me to start my own store. This business is in memory of her."

The Perfect Angle offers custom picture framing, repairs broken glass, cuts mats and sells art work. The South Shore prints it sells spark many customers' interest.

"The South Shore prints just trigger a memory for so many people," she said.

"People are really into framing their memories now. I do a lot of shadow boxes with the war medals of ancestors, athletic jerseys -- either from a professional player or a high school kid -- and baptism outfits. My customers like preserving and looking at those things"

Since she first started in the business two decades ago, the trend has moved away from the country look, with its blues and mauves.

"People want everything more tailored, more dressy and put together," Sandy said. "The woods are also richer now."

She chose the **** location because of its proximity to home and the ties to the community.

"We've invested in a big inventory so we have a lot of selection," Sandy said. "Since I started in the business so long ago, people have moved toward an understand about custom framing.

"They know that a picture is like a piece of furniture," she said. "It will stay on the wall of a home for a long time, so they are willing to invest money in a beautiful frame."

Kathy - she eloped??? Wow! Were you very disappointed? I know we all start planning our duaghter's weddings the day they are born.Is that the source of the tenision between her and your DH? I'm sorry - I don't mean to pry!!


We had a great week at the beach. It was wonderfully relaxed! We came home Saturday afternoon.
JIm took the day off (suprise suprise) and I helped him build a new patio. I then went out and bought patio furniture. I am very tired now and will be heading to the shower and bed soon!

James' 10th birthday is tomorrow. I am a little sad - my last baby is joining the double digit club! We got him a new bike and a couple of little things. I also bought him The Dangerous Book for Boys. His sisters gave him the Pirates game for his PS2. Sarah really loves this game so I know why she wanted to give it to him - so she could play it!!! We will take James and some of his friends to a baseball game Wed. night for his party.

We had a nice little celebration this morning for James.

The new patio is out back - it's an extension to our deck area. Jim and I sat outside for a long time last night talking about the Disney trip in November!!!! I am very excited!!!! It looks like it will be Jim and I and all 3 kids! We are going to take the whole week. I am exploring the DDP. We always go as afordably as we can. Has anyone done this? It seems like a huge amount of money - we would all be adults. I would love the opportunity to try out some nice restaurants, though!

Today is going to be another very hot day here in the Chicago area

The alarm went off again last night - can you believe it?!?!
I told the lady that called our house that the owner needs to call me tomorrow, and not anyone else. I told her that the police dept has said we need to fire them, and now my DH is saying we are going to cancel service. I told her our future with them isn't looking very good We are now going to have to owe the town $300

Karen - Your deck sounds great!!!
**We did the DDP when it was free last year, and we decided that we would never buy it. We found that we don't eat that much food, and we left with unused meals and snacks. If you eat the amount the dining plan has to offer, than I think it's great, but we don't. It's a tough call to make.

That newspaper article really helped me get some exposure
I got several phone calls yesterday with people asking me where I'm located, and asking me questions about a jersey they want to frame.
I even had someone place an order due to the article
Yesterday was a good day!!!!


The alarm company came and strung a new wire, and they said if that doesn't work, then they have to change a panel. I told them that they now owe the town $300 (I told her I'm not paying the town and her both), and that they are losing money hand over fist, because my friends won't use them now, and the entire police dept thinks they are awful, and therefore, they won't suggest them to anyone. I talked to one of the owners for the first time today, and she didn't realize the severity of the situation - now she does!!!

Tonite is James' party. We are meeting at my house around 5 for hot dogs & cake. Then off to the baseball game. We are going to have 7 boys. We will also have 5 adults, so this should be fun! I made them party bags with candy, a metal puzzle and a new baseball & Sharpie for autographs.

I only have 2 days left at my job. It's exciting, but a little sad!

I got a very early start today - I was up at 6am doing bills and balancing checkbooks. As much as it's a bummer to do this so early in the morning - it sure does feel good now that it's done


It sure is a beautiful day today
The girls are home with Kevin, and they will be able to play outside all day today - they are very excited about that!!!! It's been awhile since they were able to do that.
