Our FD X-Mas party last night was kinda lame and we only stayed until 10:30pm.

eeyoresmountainpals - great Santa picture!!! One of our FD guys always plays Santa at our party and he's great at it!! He's a real big guy and doesn't need any padding for his Santa suit, so he looks pretty authentic. Have fun in Gatlinburg, I haven't been there since I was a kid - let us know how your weekend was.

slo - SO how is the new dryer working out? Did you have to replace a bunch of clothes, too?

eeyore - I hope you enjoy shopping with your DD! What year is she in college? I may be hitting you u p for advice when Sarah heads off in a few months!

Well, today is the Youth bowl! Send us some pixie dust! We played this team in the championship last year and it went to triple OT!!

Our big recreational cheer competition is Sunday. Sarah & I coach Emily's squad! I am also director of cheerleading for our park & the conference so that will be a busy day. too!

Has anyone stayed at the old Dixie Landings (port orleans riverside) recently? It looks like that is where we will be onour next trip since they have a trundle bed. Did they renovate when they changed names?

Good morning everyone!!!
We are still getting snow here in the Chicago area and it looks like we are going to have a very white X-Mas I'm so glad, we love having snow for X-Mas - very festive!!!

Idroveallnight - The dryer is working out well, thanks for asking!! To answer your question about replacing laundry - yesterday we went to Sears and spent $82.00 on socks and undershirts for the girls . Kevin and I also lost socks with this accident, but we still have some to get us by for awhile. I finally put all the ruined clothes in a garbage bag yesterday to throw out - I had such a hard time doing this, but it needed to be done. I keep saying that this was the most expensive crayon ever!!!!

How did Youth Bowl go yesterday?? Please let us know.
Good luck with the cheer competition today - please let us know how that goes too.

To answer your question about staying at the old Dixie Landings - we never have. You should go on the Resort board and people there may be able to answer any questions you may have.

OK - so..... my son's team won Youth Bowl!!! We are so excited! THey have now won 4 championships & are 51-0! :thewave:


Today at cheer competition - mine & Sarah's squad took 1st in our division!

We have been so blessed this weekend! The football & cheering is such an important thing for our family because we all participate! DH coaches football, DS plays, DD & I coach cheerleading and DD cheers. With DD leaving for college next year, this will be our last year together as a whole! So that said - thank you for the pixie dust & good wishes!

slo - I know how you feel about the clothes! We have had some laundry incidents & you hate to throw things away, but what can you do! I am envious of your white Christmas! We haven't seen snow down here in about 10 years!! Enjoy!!

Good Tuesday morning everyone!!

Last night was elections at the FD and Kevin is now Lieutenant(sp?). He would have liked Captain, but at least he is an officier again. I'm very proud of him

I'm tired this morning because I was up late wrapping presents. Kevin went out last night with the FD guys, so I didn't fall asleep until later because I always have a hard time falling asleep when he's not home. So I didn't go to sleep until about midnight, which is 2 hours later than I normally fall asleep. I'm definitly one of those people that needs her 7-8 hours of sleep and anything less makes me feel like a zombie

Good Morning Everyone!

Sounds like there is a lot to "CHEER" about around here today!!

Idroveallnight ~ Congratulations to your whole family! That is all so fantastic. And don't be down about DD going away to college. It will be different and a lot of the stuff you all do together now may be different but then again there will be new stuff for you all! Trust me, I know from experience. The only thing that has stayed somewhat the same for our family is Special Olympics spring games. DD has come back for those each year since she went away to college. The first year she didn't have a car with her at college and wanted to come up and surprise her brother. She was able to get a ride but they didn't leave Charlotte until 3 a.m. and she got in here at 6 a.m. and we had to be at the Olympics by 9 a.m. She didn't get much sleep and was exhausted but it made for a great memory. That year DS got to light the Olympic torch (a once in a lifetime thing!!), there were about 40 men and women from law enforcement and fire departments that walked in the opening ceremonies and DH got to walk with DS in the opening ceremonies. It was different for us since DD had to come up from college for it and had to go back shortly after the olympics, but although it was different, it was still great! And DS was thrilled that DD made it 'cause she has always been his coach on Olympic day!

slo ~ Congratulations to Kevin!!! Tell him I said way to go. I know you're very proud of him! (And as far as spelling...I always cheat...Lt. )

Hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday. Kids are out of school here due to snow (again) so I think we'll do some Christmas baking.

eeyore - thanks for the reassurances!! She is such a good kid! Who has now decided to try out for cheerleading at Bama! I know her dad would be thrillled because then he could build a new tradition of going to ALL the games to see her!! LOL

well DH starts a vacation today!!! He'll be home for 11 days!!! We woke up this morning to muffins & folded laundry!! He has worked so much OT lately that he's barely been home! After this week I will be done coaching and things will settle down some. We won't be at the park 5 days a week!

Good morning everyone!!

It's another snowy day here in the Chicago area

. I'm spending it at home from work today because Katie woke up in the middle of the night vomiting She was up for about an hour and she vomitied 3 times - poor baby!!! She is still sleeping now which is good because she needs the rest.

Thanks for the congrats for Kevin - he is pretty happy about being an officer again. He has vowed to do better about going on calls in the middle of the night and he started last night - unfortunately the call came in during Katie's sick time and I really needed him to help hand me stuff while I was cleaning her up - but I managed and everything worked out fine.

eeyoresmountainpals - Your DD sounds like a wonderful person for being so supportive of A.J. - you must be very proud of her!!!

Idroveallnight - That's great that your DH is getting some vacation time - it'll be nice for you guys to spend some time together.

Well, I better run and start taking advantage of this time home - Presents to wrap, laundry to do and bills to pay. I just hope that Katie's tummy is on the mend because she's not very understanding about not being able to eat or drink much when she's not well.

Good snowy Friday morning everyone!!!

I'm just loving all this pre-XMas snow we are getting - it makes everything even more festive!!!

We'll see what my attitude is about the snow after X-Mas is over, I'm sure it won't be the same!!

We are getting busier and busier at work and I'm glad that we only have 9 more days until X-Mas. I shouldn't be this way because it's good that we have business, but we don't have as much as help and the help we have is inexperienced. That means that myself and the owner are doing most of the work and there's just not enough time in the day. Oh well, only 9 more days, that is what I keep telling myself

Well, I'm off and running - have a good Friday everyone!!!

Happy Saturday!!!

I had such a good day at work yesterday that it feels awesome to have the day off today. Because of the weather, we weren't that busy, and the owner and I got alot accomplished - I love that!!!

Today Kevin, Stephanie and I are going to see the Polar Express at the IMAX theater in downtown Chicago. From what I understand, the movie is going to be in 3D - how cool!!! I just love this movie, and to see it on a massive screen is going to be breathtaking. Then after the movie, if the city is not busting at the seams with crowds, we are going to try and eat dinner downtown - Chicago pizza is what I'm hoping for .

I'm so glad that my mom lives 5 min. away from my house, because she is the one spending the day with Katie. I always feel bad that I leave Katie out of these family times, but I know that she would not enjoy the movie - to big and to loud - so it's better to leave her with my mom.

Do any of you have any plans for the weekend?

Well, I hear Katie in the babymonitor, so I guess I should go - have a good Saturday!!

slo ~ that is so neat that you live close enough to Chicago to take in the big city fun like that. I hope you all had a great day. And I'm sure Katie had a wonderful day with her grandma.

Idroveallnight ~ I hope you get a chance to really enjoy some quality time with DH while he is off. It's so nice when my DH takes a chunk of time off like that. (Of course, it's not all quality time together....it always entails some "Honey-do" time as well! )

I plan to finish up Christmas baking and candy making today. The boys have been out of school because of snow and/or ice five out of the past six school days and we've been doing lots of baking and such and have had such fun doing it together. I just need to finish up a few of the last-minute things. I'm so glad that they had so many snow days before Christmas! They usually get plenty after Christmas.

The news says that it's a very big 1 degree outside and it makes me wish I could stay home. But......I can't, this is my busiest week at work this week and I'm still not feeling mentally prepared for it. But, I guess I better get prepared because the store opens in less than 4 hours.

eeyore - I love it when mt hubby is home - because it is so rare!! The kids are thrilled because he cooks more than I do!! He has already cleaned everything in site, folded tons of laundry and shampooed the carpet! He is awesome! This week he will catch up on yards - he has a yard business in addition to firefighting.

slo - thanks for the card!! When DH brought it in I thought it had been sent to the wrong address because I told him I didn't know anyone with that last name! What a great suprise!! Thanks for thinking of us!

Well, my park team had our LAST competition this weekend! We won our division! Emily competed in individuals & she won her division. Recreational football/cheerleading is over until next year!! We have meetings in the off-season, but just once a month.

The GMAC Bowl is this week. They will have a parade Tuesday night - Mardi Gras style. The kids always catch lots of goodies and it gives them a "Mardi Gras fix". The game will be tuesday night and we are so fortunate that the bowl people give free tix to the firefighters so DH, my dad and a whole bunch guys all tailgate and then the game. The bowl puts on a kids area with lots of activities, food & free tshirts. They bowl people give free tix to that to some of the parks so I was fortunate to get some so I will be taking my kids & some others! It should be lots of fun.

As Mardi Gras approaches ya'll will have to let me know & will send some Mardi Gras treats your way!!
