Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Hi all!!!

Helped out in DS's class today. Then I walked home...it is only on the other side of the subdivision!! :)

Needing to head out to the store soon.

DD has decided to NOT go on the field trip she earned for getting straight A's, saying she would rather not miss school and have to make it up. Who's kid is this??? I would totally go if was me!!! :thumbsup2

slo I have my thoughts on the whole health care subject. I think more constraints will be placed across the board. There are already some in place on medicine companies that I've heard of from my brother in-law who is a doctor. I don't think it will remain as profitable as it is now.
I think you should let Katie pick out two outifts at night and then in the morning she has to choose one from those and nothing else. Make her shake on it! :thumbsup2 My kids get their clothes out the night before. But I'm lucky having at least one boy. He could care less what he wears!! Today he wore a shirt he picked out that said 'I get my muscles from my dad'!!

Stitchfans I hope your DD made copies of all the crap her soon to be ex is saying about her.

Tigg Again, sorry for your family's loss. I feel bad for you DD.

irish dancer My DD made a comment once that cracked us up. She was recalling what "Santa" had given her and her brother in the past and said "I cannot believe the two of you bought all that!!!" :rotfl:

Gotta run!!
Play nice with others everyone!! ;)

Hello everyone! I'm back. Things have been kinda crazy insane here. I thought senior year was supposed to be easy? Well, its not. Hahah, I'm not sure how it turned to November but suddenly it is. My 18th birthday came and went (last Thursday). Thankfully my boss was cool and let me have the night off even though it was my scheduled night; I work a set schedule. My parents surprised me with a new 15inch MacBook Pro and a leopard print Snuggie. :lovestruc The MacBook Pro was also their way of saying that they are on board with art school. =) Which couldn't have made my birthday any better. I'm going to Boston in a few weeks to visit the art school there I want to go to and Minneapolis the weekend after that to visit that art school. I'm beyond excited.
I've been reading what everyone else has been up and am going to reply to a few, but I've got homework still. Heheh its 8:45 and I haven't started yet, yay being a senior? Sorry if I miss you! =)

Bunchkin Congrats on your daughter getting straight A's! That's so cute that she doesn't want to miss school. I love field trip because I get to miss school. Hahah, I hope she continues her good work ethic up!
agnes! So I'm interested in art, photography to be exact. That is awesome that you take your students on a "field trip" like that! I'm so jealous! My art field trip was a walking "architectural" tour of the Loop, a few random galleries, and the Modern Wing (for like 30 minutes). I was going to sign up for Columbia's Open House, but decided against it at the last second, not sure why. Thanks for the review of the day.
Flashpoint is a 2 year intensive program. I've heard they have a high rate of people in the business as well as the new equipment on the market. They room in UC with Columbia, one of the sickest "dorms" I've ever seen. A friend is going there next year which is how I know this.

Later everyone! =)

 Hi everyone! Life has been crazy, I have been reading but not keeping up enough to post regularly. I am now working at The Disney Store in Chicago Ridge.

ditto.. actually just interviewd at the Disney Store in Woodfield.. hope I get a job!!

Even after they both don't believe anymore, I'll still fill their stockings from Santa, but all the presents will end.

Kim - Can you change your password for your email? My email has a different password than Stephanie's email (she has an email for itunes only, but she'll eventually use it more).
Hope you're sleeping better slo!

Are you serious that presents might end, at 15 and 10, possibly? Do you just mean 'santa' presents end and parent gifts start? I was confused about that.

And yes, I COULD change my PW on my email (that would be easy ;) ), but there are SOME times when I need Kelly to log in and FIND if someone sent me something pertaining to her, of course. ;)

Does Flashpoint only have Associates degrees, do students attend there and then transfer to another school to get their Bachelor's? (And are most of them employed in 'the business"?)
Flashpoint isn't accredited, it has nothing to give you, paper-wise (degree), except payments. :rolleyes1 HOWEVER, my son had a fabulous 2 years there! He did A LOT of movie work, both learning, competing, etc. He is still using all he learned while there, still working on small & big film/video/music videos all the time. He is currently employed in 2 jobs. The one from Flashpoint is at the Big Ten (college sports) - he edits the game videos. He also still has his manager job at Kerasotes theatre. It's a risk, but he loves doing what he does! :goodvibes

DS is on the verge of not believing- he doesn't believe 100% right now but doesn't want to risk it. He has asked, but I have kind of lied (evaded the truth)!
I did that too. When YOU'RE ready to tell him the truth tho - you will. ;)

I am now working at The Disney Store in Chicago Ridge.
Congrats Kirsten!

We lost a friend/family member this weekend. So not entirely a great weekend.
So sorry for your loss. :sad1:

KimRaye- I hear you. But until the divorce is final she has to keep that email address so she has some way to keep in touch with the idiot. Once it is final she will most likely change it. For now she isn't opening them up any more and just ignoring them.
I understand. If she closes that email, he will complain that he has no contact, right? Well, when it's over - soon, I hope - tell her to delete that email!

DD has decided to NOT go on the field trip she earned for getting straight A's, saying she would rather not miss school and have to make it up. Who's kid is this??? I would totally go if was me!!! :thumbsup2

What is Lauren thinking? SF, I agree with Nicole on the copies - even if she doesn't want to read them, read them for her, print them, etc. She might need them. Nicole, that is TOO FUNNY about us Santa's! :santa:

Happy Belated BD! Congrats on the great gifts (I LOVE my Snuggie!). Glad you got the night off, too! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the review of Flashpoint. They do have HIGH-HIGH-tech on location and at all the 'shoots' my DS has worked. I don't know about the 'dorm' situation, since DS lives at home and commuted everyday. :confused3

ditto.. actually just interviewd at the Disney Store in Woodfield.. hope I get a job!!
:cheer2: GOOD LUCK! :cheer2:

Good morning

Slo I have had Alex pick out his clothes at night for the longest time. He has such a hard time making a decision :headache:. It saves so much time and yelling in the morning.;) I hope you find something that works for you and Miss Katie. You both need less stress.

Geffric Good luck!

Stich I am sorry your daughter is having such a difficult time. To bad he can't understand this is only making the lawyers richer and it is time to move on. They never did say divorce was easy.

Tiggg I am so sorry to hear about your loss.

Princess Belated Happy Birthday!

Bunchkin Hunter is soo funny. I can't stop thinking about his muscles:rotfl2: Sorry Tony:rolleyes1 I can sympathize with Lauren Alex had a Indoor fieldtrip where he just missed one class (Art). He is still paying for that day. I think the teacher has major issues. Parent/teacher conferences are coming up. I am afraid my feeling about her will overtake my mouth.

Darn it is now time to get dressed for work. I should say oh yeah but I am not feeling it today.

Yesterday I had a special visitor at my store - SamIAm :)
It was so great to see her, and visit for awhile :)
I love getting unexpected visitors:goodvibes

I'm looking forward to tonight - I'm going to a Tupperware party next door.
I really like my neighbors family, so it'll be good to see them.
Plus, the Tupperware guy is a real trip, and he makes the party super fun.
It'll be a good time!!!! :teeth:

paint - I lied to Stephanie too, the first time she asked ::yes:: That first time, I could tell what she wanted her answer to be, she wasn't ready for the truth. The second time, she already knew, and just wanted me to confirm it. When I started to make up a story, she flat out told me, "Mom, just tell me the truth!!!!" At that point I knew it was over, and fessed up to the truth. I bet the same thing will happen to you - you'll just know when he's ready ::yes::

piglet - Congrats on your TDS job:cheer2: I bet that'll be fun at Christmas - helping parents pick out stuff for their kids. Have fun with that job!!! :teeth:

Stitchfans - You'll have to have StitchfansJr come over and say "hi" We would love to see her!!!!:)

Bunchkin - That's a good idea about the 2 outfits - I will try that!!!:thumbsup2

princess - Happy belated Birthday!!! :cake:

Kim - Just the Santa presents will end:santa: Currently, we give them something little from "us" because we give them so much from Santa. So when Katie stops believing, everything that Santa would have brought, will be given from us on Christmas afternoon :thumbsup2 The stockings will always be filled, because I can't stop doing that :)

HERSEY - I agree we do need less stress ::yes:: I'm looking forward to January when I can do my Sunday afternoon vegging out on the couch all day :)

To everyone else - :wave2:

I'm off to start the day
Have a good Wednesday everyone!!!

Hi all. Real late start since DD (Stitchfansjr) and I slept in. I was up pretty late with an upset stomach. Something I ate just didn't agree with me. For all of you who suggested oldest DD print out the emails from her soon be ex- I am way ahead of you. She already has them I mailed them out several days ago.

She gave me her password so I could help her keep track since she can't use the library's computer every day. So once or twice a day I pop in there and take a look.

SLO- I haven't been to a tupperware party in ages. Have fun. Pampered Chef seems to be the "in" thing around here. I really don't like their products. Everything I have bought was no good.

Hersey- I really got a giggle when you said you were afraid your feelings would overcome your mouth at the PT conference. It just did for me on my recent conference. Since they sent me on a wild goose chase the first thing out of my mouth when I finally found that teacher was "I'm p***ed." I know not smart but I was  Good luck with the conference I know how hard they can be sometimes.

KimRaye- you didn't say much for me to comment on. But it is funny that you suggested printing out the emails. I guess we think alike.

Geffric- crossing my fingers that you get the job at the Disney store. That might be fun.

Well. Hope everyone else is having a great day. Sun is out. That alone should put a smile on our faces.

Hi guys! Just home from Jewel. Note to self, do NOT try and coupon/Catalina shop with a kid in tow! Was a very frustrating experience because it is the last day of the sale so a lot of the items I was going for were sold out. :headache:

Conferences went well, no surprises. DD8 doesn't get letter grades til next year, DD12 had two Bs the rest As. She was only 3pts away from straight As with a 91 in Math and a 92 in Social Studies, she's going to try and push a bit on those two and hopes for straight As next quarter. DSs conference will be Mon or Tues of Tgiving week. New teacher this year so should be interesting.

Love the sun! Glad it's going to be hanging around for a few days.

Stitchfans - hope you're feeling better soon!
*Glad to hear you're on top of the emails from soon to be exSIL.

slo - have fun at the Tupperware party, haven't been to one in ages either!
*DS is easy as pie with getting dressed but we have a day of the week organizer in his closet. We fill it Sunday evenings for the week. Thankfully the girls wear uniforms otherwise I know it would be a HUGE battle with them. DD8 is VERY picky and DD12 would send us to the poor house wanting the latest and greatest designer stuff. I like the idea of having Katie lay out two outfits and making her stick with one of them.

Hersey - hope you have a good day at work!

geffric - I was just telling DH this morning that I should apply at TDS for extra $$. Think I'll take a run to the mall tomorrow to check it out. Good luck to you, I hope you get the job!

MJ - HAPPY belated BIRTHDAY!! Hope it was a great day! I got DD8 a Tinkerbelle snuggie for Christmas, hope she likes it. DS9 wants one too, maybe I'll get him a blue one.

Bunchkin - I'm with you on the field trip, I'd be there in a minute if it meant getting out of school. DD12 though would probably be like Lauren and not want to miss.

Tiggerrn - to you on your loss. I know how hard that is, we're still working through it around here. Will keep you in my prayers.

piglet - congrats on TDS job! How exciting. I think I'll head to either OakBrook or Yorktown and see if either are hiring. Would really like to work at the Doorway to Dreams store in Woodfield though........

paint - we've never done the Disney cruise either, way out of our budget for a family of 5. DH and I did a cruise/Disney for our honeymoon though. Someday I really hope we can do a Disney one with the kids. I think DH should definitely take you on one for a grad present. ;)

:wave2: to everyone else!

Well, time to put the rest of the groceries away and take the dog for a walk. Have a great day everyone! :flower3:

slo Congrats on the 15,000 posts!
Have fun at the Tupperware party!

hersey Alex's art teacher is a LOON!!!
And I can't see you getting verbal with anyone!!!

stitchfans Glad you made those copies.

Kim It's good to hear that Matt is happy with what he is doing!

piglet Hope the new job is going well and is fun!

geffric Hope the interview went well!!

THAT'S what I thought you meant! :santa:

KimRaye- you didn't say much for me to comment on. But it is funny that you suggested printing out the emails. I guess we think alike.
Been there, done that. Proof wins.

15,000th post
Time well spent and well-shared! :goodvibes Congrats! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the congrats everyone - I'm pretty proud of that number:yay::woohoo:

I had a lot of fun at The Tupperware party last night.
I booked a party for January, so now Tupperware Joe can say he hosted an entire block with parties (people don't need to know our block in only 3 houses:rolleyes: ) This guy really makes the party - he's so much fun!!!!!

Stitchfans - Pampered Chef is very popular around here too ::yes:: I recently bought a chopper at a party I went to, and never used it. Now there's a chopper/mixer I really want from Tupperware that's much nicer - I may get it at my party :thumbsup2

ID - Did you "rain checks" for the items that were gone? I always do if it's something I really want.
**Congrats to your DD with her great grades!!!!:cheer2:

Time to run and get ready for work
Have a good day!!!

Slo Congrats on your post count and belated congratulations to Kevin on getting a job. Sorry I missed that earlier. How is he liking it?

Id I am glad Alex is older and I can shop alone. It is the one good thing about kids getting older.;)

Well I better go look at the socks in the dryer. It is always what I love doing a zero dark thirty! Someone chooses 10:00 at night to let me know he doesn't have any socks. Someone must be eating socks so be carefull the monster may visit your homes next.:rolleyes1

Cissup ~ Good luck with your interviews at TDS! Would you be going in as a Cast Member for the season? I am what is called a "Lead", basically it is like an assistant manager, but the store has a full-time one of those.

Slo ~ I have not been to a Tupperware party since I sold it many, many years ago. Let me know when your party will be, I would love to come if I can.

Morning all!

15 to 25 mph winds expected here today. But the high will be 70, so I guess I shouldn't complain....much! ;)

I got my Avon order delivered yesterday afternoon, it's filled with Stocking Stuffers!! I love the little Christmas hand creams they have! So cute! :goodvibes

Anyone buy their Thanksgiving turkey yet?
I haven't decided which store I'm buying it from.

slo That's a small cul de sac you're on!

Hersey Lauren is always running out of socks too! :confused3 No one else here does, so I'm not sure exactly what the girl is doing with her socks...and she has a ton of them!!!

Morning all. Have a few errands to run so I can't stand on that long. Ordered something for DD for Christmas on WalMart's (gasp) website and had ship to store option. It is ready for pickup. Also have to run to Walgreens to pick up DH's prescription. This week sure is flying by quickly.

SLO- never did congratulate you on your 150000 post. Congrats! Wow that sure is something! Happy to hear you had fun at the Tupperware party.

Bunchkin- I always get my stocking stuffers from Avon also. During the winter DH uses tons of hand cream otherwise his hands get so dry they crack and bleed. Need to order some soon.

Well guess I will just say a big hello to everyone else and wish you all a great day. Bye.

My DD made a comment once that cracked us up. She was recalling what "Santa" had given her and her brother in the past and said "I cannot believe the two of you bought all that!!!" :rotfl:QUOTE]

My 13ds said just last year -
Jon -the kids on the bus said there isn't a Santa"
me - Oh? What did you say?
Jon- My parents would NEVER do that!

So...at 13 - how can he believe? I don't know if he does or doesn't!

Lori

Looong day today. There was a breakfast at school with the kids today at 7:45, then I have school all day, and then work tonight! I so nned the money- just look at that ticker! Anyway, DD was home from school yesterday with a mysterious tummy ache (no other symptoms), but I know she wasn't faking since she did not eat dinner the night before (and she is a good eater). So, I was productive- painted the kitchen red! I love it and is has lit my redecorating/remodeling fire. I want to refinish the dining room floor. Anyone know how?
Slo- DS looks me in the eye, like I do to him to see if he is lying, when he talks about Santa. IT makes me laugh, which makes him suspicious!
ID- The DDs are always the trendiest, aren't they? DD likes the ugly stuff, you know the stuff all her friends like! Glittery shirts, etc. Yuck.
