Calling all Chicago DISers #3

:surfweb:

I'm sitting here with a couple of homemade chocolate chip cookies and my coffee - I love that on a chilly morning!!!!

Donna - I'm so glad you had a nice trip visiting Christopher!!! :goodvibes It's to bad the flight home wasn't very good:guilty:I don't like rough flights either:sad2:

Bunchkin - I wish Stephanie could get her homework done earlier. She had so much of it last night, and will for the rest of the week. She did most of her math until dinner, after they ate dinner, she had to go to CCD, I picked her up from that at 7:30pm, and then she still had vocabulary homework, finish her math, a science page, and study for a science quiz - she didn't finish until 10pm :faint: Most of this homework would take other kids probably 1/2 the time to do, but it doesn't come easy for her, so it takes her much longer. Kevin or I have to always check her math, so that takes double time. The first time for her to do, and the second time for us to go over together. Tonight will be the same way, because she has soccer practice at 5:30pm - I"m not looking forward to it :sad2:

chell - Holy cow - you've got a full load!!! :faint: I hope you got it all done last night :wizard::wizard:

My cookie is now gone, and I just took the last sip of coffee, which means it's time to go.
Have a good day today!!!!

Brr! Good, chilly morning! Hope all of your weeks are going well! Just school, school, school here, with a little work peppered in for fun! My "fun" coming up is the pumpkin patch on Sunday. I can almost taste those apple cider doughnuts!
Slo- Cookies sound good, but I had a WW bagel this morning. I am still scared from the numbers on the scale. It will wear off, though. It always does!
chell- I have senoiritis, too....it is much worse in college, though, when you aren't held accountable for your absences! Nah...I've been good this semester. I've only missed one class!
Bunchkin- Feel better soon!
Donna- Glad your flights were okay (minus a few disturbances). Did they help you get over your fear? Flying again in the future?
Crissup- Dh wants to go to the Old World restaurant, too. I think it was the mention of all you can eat pierogis!
kim, mac, gef- I am so jealous! Have a great time!
ID- Nobody but me likes Monday. It is my day off-no school, no work. Of course, I usually don't do anything fun, but I get to do it by myself, in oeace and quiet!
Dgal- Congrats on DVC! Yummy cake choices, btw. Think you can save me the almond/amaretto part? Our wedding cake had almond icing and it was awesome!

Time to get moving! Gym, work, homework! Blah...

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: Man, I do not want to get out of bed in the morning. It's too dark and waaaay too cold.

ID ~ I didn't realize you were a DVC member. Can I get your opinions on it? Have you ever had any problems with it? Is it worth every penny? :goodvibes

Crissup ~ thanks for the link! :thumbsup2 i think one of these days i might take my dad there. it sound delicious!

Bunchy ~ feel better soon!:wizard:

Hersey ~ my allergies are awful too. i didn't have allergies in florida. i've come to the conclusion that i'm allergic to Illinois!

Donna ~ sounds like you had a wonderful trip!

Chell ~ good luck with all your school work. It's nice of you to help your brother with his homework.

slo ~ mmmmmmmm... chocolate chip cookies..... mmmmmm

Paint ~ WHERE do you find apple cider doughnuts???? i love cider and i love donuts so the combo has me quite excited! Apple cider is the only reason i like this time of year. have fun at the pumpkin patch! i always enjoy picking pumpkins!

MAC, Geffric, Kim ~ have a wonderful trip. Safe travels! :wizard:

everyone else ~ :wave2: have a wonderful day!

Morning all!!
All you Chicago Disers leaving this weekend :woohoo:Have a great time!!! And I agree-please bring back some heat!!
DG, not sure where you live, but there is a wonderful apple orchard in Hobart, IN. County Line Apple Orchard. They have the best apple cider and wonderful apple cider donuts. Also have a nice store. Great Taffy Apples!! Sounds like you had a wonderful trip to WDW and planning went great.
Slo, I feel your pain with the math homework. Kellie gets some every night and every night it's the same story. She does it, doesn't get it, we help her, she melts down. :rolleyes1 I was sure I was done with school 20 years ago.
Donna, welcome home. Glad you had a nice trip.
Bunchkin,:hug:feel better soon. Drink plenty of fluids.:wizard:
Later all. Have a great rest of your week.

Hey Tigg, Thanks for the info on the Apple Orchard. We are down in Tinley so only about 30min from the IN border... I'll have to google map Hobart though. I'm not sure where it is. :thumbsup2

DG, I think your best way will be to take 80E to Ridge Road south. Follow the apple orchard directions from there. Just google county line apple orchard and there will be directions on their website for you. It's a really nice place. Go early in the day. Parking gets packed. Oh, and don't wear yellow (the bees favorite color) and wear a bounce fabric dryer sheet. Helps to chase the bees away.

Hi guys! I had the MOST productive day - yeah! Cleaned the oven, three loads of laundry, cleaned our side door entry area (tired of tripping over the multiple pairs of shoes!), farmers market, inside and outside Halloween decorations, dinner and homework. Now, if I could keep that up our house would be presentable. :rotfl:

Tiggerrn - I'm convinced we're doing more homework now than we ever did in school! Seriously, I don't remember homework until high school. :confused3

disneygal - we LOVE our DVC. The only problem we seem to have is we don't own enough points. :lmao: Since we're a family of 5 if provides us better accomodations than a regular hotel. I never thought a washer/dryer and kitchen would be a highlight on vaca but it is! We pack much less and eat in often which helps the budget. Feel free to PM me if you have questions! I wish we had bought in when we were newlyweds and saw the kiosk at WDW......

paint - have fun at the pumpkin patch!! My kids are going to the orchard with my sisters a week from Sunday so we'll have more cider and donuts - yumm! :lovestruc

slo - hope Stephanie's homework went better tonight. DD8 had a particularly heavy load tonight, thankfully it went well. I think the Dairy Queen after dinner made it go better.

MJ - you sound like you have a crazy schedule! You said you're western burbs, whereabouts? I'm in Elmhurst.

Bunchkin - yikes! I hope you're feeling better soon ! Here's some PD - :wizard:

Donna - so glad you had a great trip and that the flights went well. Sounds like a beautiful time.

 to all our homies heading south. Have GREAT trips and feel free to bring back some warmth. Take lots of pics and enjoy a Mickey bar for me!

Well, I'm off to bed. Babysit my nephew tomorrow and going to try tackling more jobs around here. Have a great night all! :flower3:

Thanks one & all for the trip wishes! Believe you me, I will bring back whatever heat I can! :teleport: :sunny: After the 'missed' summer we had , we can ALL use a little warmth! :thumbsup2

We are about 3/5 packed. How is that you wonder, for a family of 4? Well, Kelly & I are basically packed and, I got DH to pack tonight, now I just need 21yo DS to commit to packing, which leaves the last 5th - the toiletries! I swear I've never seen so many different toiletries needed for such a small family and, we take mostly travel-size stuff but...my goodness, the ziploc bags are numerous! 4 different shampoos plus a conditioner or two, 2 different toothpastes, 2 different mouthwashes, combs, brushes, medicine cabinet, etc. - you know the drill! ;) Sometimes I think we need a separate bag just for our 'personal' items. :rolleyes1

Anyway, Kelly is very excited, even tho in pain tonight. She got her 2nd HPV shot AND a flu vaccine today. Both her arms are sore. I got my flu vaccine as well today. I told her if I could do it, so could she. She's not convinced by my 'bravery'.

We're going to MNSSHP on the 6th as well. I'M looking forward to that maybe more than Kelly! Read alot on the boards about that and saw lots of great pics! BOO! :mickeyjum

Note to Donna: Congrats on making those flights! :woohoo::thumbsup2

In case I don't post again - Hi & Bye to all!! :wave2:

It's 5:30am, and Katie is already up
I'm already up, so no big deal, but she is going to be so tired after school :faint: I'm glad it gets dark out earlier, so I can put her to bed by 7:30pm :thumbsup2

paint - The cookies weren't for breakfast, they were just a treat with my coffee :teeth: I had some cereal for breakfast about 2 hours later:) I really need to get myself back on track with my food choices, because the weight is just pouring on - I can feel it in my clothes:guilty: With all the holiday coming, that won't be easy :sad2:

DG -It is hard to get up in the morning!!!!! :upsidedow

TTTiiigggernnnnnnnnn - I'm glad I"m not the only that goes through the math battle every night:)

ID - The homework was terrible last night. Stephanie got over 1/2 of her math homework wrong, so we had to correct that together. We finished that at 8:30pm, and she still had a reading sheet, a science sheet, and a spelling sheet to do  I very quickly helped her with the spelling, by basically giving her the answers, and then when she was doing her reading, I found all the answers to the science crossword puzzle. I felt wrong doing this, but I felt even more wrong about having her stay up until 10:30pm doing all this. That science page would have taken her FOREVER!!!!! Tonight will be another nightmare night. She has a rough draft for her report due tomorrow, plus she has to study for a science test, reading test, and spelling test for tomorrow:eek:. All this work is just to much for 5th grade - in my opinion.

Kim - Have an awesome trip!!!!!:cool1: I can hardly wait to hear all about it!!!! :)
**I hope Kellie's arms feel better by the time she leaves:wizard:

Well, I gotta run and get ready for a Chamber of Commerce breakfast at 7:45am. I'm so not in the mood to go, but once I'm there, I'll enjoy seeing everyone:) Have a good day everyone!!!

Thanks one & all for the trip wishes! Believe you me, I will bring back whatever heat I can! :teleport: :sunny: After the 'missed' summer we had , we can ALL use a little warmth! :thumbsup2

We're going to MNSSHP on the 6th as well. I'M looking forward to that ! BOO! :mickeyjum

Note to Donna: Congrats on making those flights! :woohoo::thumbsup2

In case I don't post again - Hi & Bye to all!! :wave2:

me too..

I love my DVC too disneygal
.. owned for a long time . since 93.. and I love having a full kitchen and a washer and dryer and another room and the big baths..love my DVC..

. I just got home from Meals on Wheels and I am tired.. but I want to bounce back.. I was told that the Disney Store is hiring for Xmas.. so I am waiting for Eric to get home and we can both apply..:thumbsup2

If I am not here tomorrow.. I am staying at AKVs Jambo house, doing F&W and MNSSHP - going to be a great time.. and will be back in a week and 1/2..

Thank you God, that's finally Friday!!!!!:yay::woohoo::dance3:
It's been a long week with all of Stephanie's homework and test, and with different things that I had to do for work - I'm so glad Friday is here!!!! I do have to type out a report for Stephanie this weekend, but that shouldn't take to long at all. It will be nice to have a break the next couple of days :)

Do you think Chicago will get the Olympics?
As cool as I think it would be, I don't think it will happen :guilty: Just a gut feeling.
We'll see in about 5 hours :listen:

geffric - Have a wonderful trip!!!!:cool1: Be safe and have fun!!!!! :cool1:I can hardly wait to hear about your adventures when you come home.

Have a great Friday everyone!!!!

Morning guys!

slo - I totally agree - T.G.I.F.!! So glad we're done with another week of homework! I can sympathize with the homework, I think DD12 had the most homework in 5th grade, or maybe she's just better at doing it herself. Either way it was easier in 6th and now 7th grade.

geffric - have a GREAT! time. Enjoy the warm weather.....

KimRaye - hope you too have a GREAT vaca! Hope Kelly's arms are feeling better. If not maybe a Mickey bar would help. ;)

DD12 has a pizza party and poster decorating party tonight, tomorrow they TP the varsity football players, and I'm helping at the party. Tomorrow is her final bball game of the regular season and the much anticipated TP night.

As for the Olympics, I might be in the minority but I have to confess I hope Chicago does NOT get the Olympics. While it would be cool to have it close enough to maybe attend an event I can't imagine Chicago/Cook County actually pulling it off without it costing a fortune and without some sort of scandal. I guess we'll see in a few hours......

Well, I'm off to drop DNephew at preschool and start my day. Have a great Friday everyone!! :flower3:

Good chilly morning!

I caved! The heat went on this morning. After last night when it got so cold out I couldn't hold out any longer :sad2:.

I think today I am going to bake and make a pot of soup. That should warm us up.:thumbsup2

Everyone going towards the warmth have a great trip and bring some back!

I am disappiointed that we didn't at least go farther in the bid for the olympics. I am not sure if I really thought we had a chance or not. But to be knocked out so early?:confused3 I am not sure if this was not some big political move. I hope Rio does a wonderful job and brings a lot of people to their city.

Facebook friends - I'm sorry you have to hear this again.

I didn't have a good day yesterday :sad2:
Here's the story....

I go into the bathroom at work yesterday, and there's standing water in there:eek:

Not good, because this is also used as storage for finished goods (on rare occassions), and right now there are old highschool class pictures in there. Luckily, they were sitting on cardboard, and the cardboard took all the moisture - I think:rolleyes:.

I go next door, where a Chinese takeout is preparing to open, and I ask them if they are messing with plumbing, which I already knew the answer, by all the noise they've been making. They said yes, but they barely speak English, so I couldn't really discuss anything more with them:headache:.

I storm over to my best friends/insurance agent, in the same plaza as me, and I have a fit:mad:. If this is happening now, what is to come later????? (I'm extremely unhappy about this restaurant opening, because it's going to make store smell of Chinese food - that is not the image I want my store to have):sad2:

She calls the landlord, who owns a very highend martini bar in this plaza, and she said it is a problem with the roof, and the bar got flooded out last night (they are estimating $200,000 worth of damage:eek:). She said it was raining buckets in the bar. One hole was over the Chinese place, and flooded them out, and the water came in through the bottom of the wall - not good!!!!:sad2:

I go back to the store, and go into my office/playroom for the girls/storage for inventory, and that carpet is soaking wet along with everything on the floor I then go to the front of the store, and that carpet is wet also:eek:

The roof guy came in and apologized, and said that he will have someone come in and clean the carpet today. That's fine, but I had to move everything into my workspace, and now I can't work. Worse yet, my employee can't work now, so I'm going to have to pay her to do her homework. I don't want to shut down, because we can still help customers that want to place new orders.

After the cleaning guys came, he advised being shut down, because of the HUGE fans that need to be out front, and the noise they'll make. Plus, I had to take frame sample off my carpeted wall,, because that carpet is coming off the wall, because of the wall being wet (it will need to be replaced:guilty:). The store will now be shut down until maybe Wednesday:headache: because after the carpet is dry, they need to clean it.

This whole thing is such a pain in the arss!!!! Thank God I didn't have more water damage, because I have people's very valuable things here. The owner of the bar said it was literally raining in the bar, because of the water coming through the ceiling there. If that would have happened here, it would have been a nightmare. It's one thing when your stuff is ruined, but when it's other's, that's much worse.

So that was my Friday :headache:
I did not have a good day!!!!!:sad2:

So, now Kevin and I need to start making a list of everything that was damaged, what needs to be replaced, and money lost by all this:headache: I'm praying that the contractor, that did this damage, will settle up fast so I can get my store back to normal.

Happy Saturday everyone!! Watching my first Hawks game of the new season. My boy Kane has 8 shots on goal, 1 goal, and 1 assist yesterday, even though they lost yesterday in a shootout. Oh well, that's at least one point to start the season. =) Lazy Saturday, as always. Slept 9 straight hours last night, lovely after only sleeping 4-5 each night during the week. Calling Bingo at the Sunrise by my house tonight as one of my volunteer "jobs". =) Hope everyone has a good day/weekend.

slo I never get everything done at night. I always leave my calculus homework for lunch the next day, which doesn't always work out.
Wow, Stephine has sooo much homework for 5th grade!! I don't even think I had anywhere near that. Jeez...wow.
I hope they get everything with your store cleared up fast. That sounds like a horrible situation. What does your company do?
paintnolish I can't wait to graduate high school, so I can't imagine being a senior in college and having to wait to be done with school. I can't wait for college!
disneygal922 Thanks. My parents aren't much help with my brother's work so I help him, and his friends, a lot. It's hard sometimes because I try to edit his English papers that are so different from mine or do the math that I've been doing for 3 years so it comes natural to me. But it helps him, I hope. =)
irish dancer Yah I'm in the western suburbs, Westmont, basically just south down 83 from Elmhurst. =)

Well the Hawks scored already on a power play so I'm off to watch the game with my dad, then maybe go to lunch with him =)

Hellllllllllooooooooooooo Chicagoland Dis-ers!!! :flower3: So seeing as they are changing the ADR window back to 180 days, Mike and I are able to make our ADRs for the wedding and honeymoon at the end of this month. Because we have a lot of other wedding stuff to work on we decided to figure out our ADRs now. So in no particular order this is what we have decided on. If any of you have any opinions please let me know!

Biergarten - our fave. it's always a must for us.
Ohana's
Whispering Canyon Cafe
California Grill
Jiko
LeCellier
San Angel
Raglan Road
Tony's Town Square
Kouzzina

The Saturday and Sunday night before the wedding he'll be with his groomsmen and i'll be with my sisters and dad so we are leaving those open for us!

Slo ~ I'm so sorry to hear about the water damage. I hope the problem gets resolved soon! :wizard:

Hersey ~ Our heat went on this week too. My dad turned it on for me on Thursday night. I was sitting on the couch watching tv all bundled up under a blanket and big fleece sweatshirt

ID and Geffric ~ Glad you both love DVC. We are really excited!:cool1:

Everyone else ~ :wave2: have a wonderful weekend! :goodvibes

slo Again, sorry to hear about all this damage and the havoc it's causing to your shop. If Jennifer didn't say it already, get the contractor's insurance agent phone number and file a claim with them. If you can't get any where with that, then file one with your insurance and they'll go after him.

Bunch How is the cold? I hope you are starting to feel better.

Slo I am soo sorry you are having such a problem. I hope it is fixed for good very soon.

DG WOW it is getting close. Your ressie sound good to me. Let me know how San Angel is I've always wanted to try it but for some reason we haven't :confused3.

Princess calculus for lunch = indigestion. Good thing my son is fairly good at his homework, I think he pasted me up somewhere in the 4th grade.

:surfweb:

I hope you all had a good weekend!!!

Our weekend was somewhat relaxing.
Saturday after I went to work, I sat outside in the cold, rainy, windy, damp weather to watch Stephanie's soccer game - yucky day :cold:!!! Then after church we went to Sam's Club, and then came home and watched tv.

Sunday we went to church to have Sophie blessed (it was an open pet blessing for everyone), and then Katie had a bday party. While she was at her party I stayed home and did stuff around the house, and then after getting Katie I hung out with the neighbors outside (it was cold), and then came in and watched tv until bed - it was a good day!!!!:)

Today I go to the store to see how everything is drying. Hopefully, everything will be dry so the drying equipment can go, and the carpet can get cleaned - after that, I can reopen :)

chell - You are so busy - go for you:)!!! Your parents must be so proud of you!!!:goodvibes
**I have a custom picture frame store :)

DG - Thanks!!!
**Your choices sound very good :thumbsup2 How about LTT - that one is always a must for me :goodvibes

Bunchkin - I do have a claim number with his insurance - I just need someone to call me back about it

HERSEY - Thanks, me too ::yes::

Well, it's time to wake up sleeping beauty. She's going to have a very exciting surprise at school today - her daddy's going to be there for Fire Prevention:firefight Stephanie always loved it when Kevin was there, and I know Katie will now too :goodvibes

Have a good day!!!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: I had to scrap my windshield today!!:scared1: the side windows were just covered with dew so i could handle that but i wen to use my wipers to clear the windshield to find it was ice!!! it was easy to scrape though but still... i'm not ready for the cold!!!

slo ~ LTT is definitely on our back up list. Neither of us have been there but I've heard really good things about it.

hersey ~ i can't believe how close it is getting. it seems like just yesterday i was saying we still have another year and a half! it's amazing how time flies! i'll definitely let you know how San Angel is.

Hope everyone is doing well! :wave2: have a wonderful day!
