What a beautiful day yesterday :sunny:
Even though I was stuck inside, I still loved the nicer weather!!!

This morning I need to rush Sophie to the vet.
Kevin found a tick on her last week, and pulled it, but incorrectly (he didn't know) and I think part of it is still in there. Plus, I found another area that we think has burrowed ticks behind her ear. With her hair being long, it's very difficult to see these areas, and if I weren't literally looking for tick areas, I would have never found them. I'm stunned that she has these, because she's outside for such short periods of time (long enough to go potty) and goes no where that has a lot of brush. So, we'll see what the vet says.

HERSEY - Thanks for hugs - I need them lately!!!!
**You are right about those telescopes ::yes:: There was a telescope store in our town, that is now out of business. He had some telescopes in there that were so big, that I could probably see another galaxy with it :laughing:It is now out of business, but in the right area, that store could have done well.

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, I gotta run and get ready to leave early today
Have a great day!!!

good monday morning chicagoland homies.

sunshine and lollipops all day today!!
:goodvibes

Hi gang! What a a beutiful weekend and day we are having. DS baseball team did not do well at all. I think they will be practicing very hard this week.

My back started hurting yesterday and I don't know the cause. It felt the best when I went out to pull weeds. Go figure.

Slo - How is Sophie? We had a coonhound once and ticks were super easy to see since her coat was so sleek. Since we camp a lot we saw our share of ticks.

ID - How as the communion and party? You had a great day for it.

Becky - We leave Joliet after school/work at 3:00 and can make it to Nashville in 7ish hours. It is then a full day to Florida the next day. We try to be past Atlanta around noon. I am familiar with 47 - how far are you going on 47 to catch 74? It seems like you could scoot over to 57 and shoot down that way. Although you said people recommend 47. Just don't get stuck behind some farm implement!

Mac - Glad you are feeling better and on the mend.

Geffric - We are geeks with a telescope at our house. DH some fancy smanchy telescope at a garage sale in Naperville a coupld of years ago for a fabulous price. He and ds swear you can see stuff on the moon. DS even thought he could see the American flag. I have my doubts. Joliet Junior College has a nice series of astronomy programs that we went to when ds was younger. We should check them out again.

Hi to everybody else!
Lori

Hi gang! What a a beutiful weekend and day we are having.

Lori

Yes, we use 47 to catch 74 and then scoot over to 57 from there and then 24 if my memory serves me correctly. I HATE, HATE the 47 drive -- it's look there's corn, there's beans and WAIT...there's beans & there's corn!!! Occassionally something else will show up though. :) We start near Waubonsee Community College. Maybe it's from when I was little and seeing the billboards on the interstate always made me feel like vacation was starting.

Although, LAST time we had the infamous getting lost in a cornfield on the way HOME due to police directing us off Rt. 47 to the West, we were only about an hour or hour & half until we got home before we were detoured. It was around 10:30 - 11 pm dark & no street names (who knew they had PAVED streets back there!). I couldn't figure out how to get home because you can't figure out a route on a map to get where you are going if you don't have a clue where you are at ON the map! :lmao: It was a bit after July 4th too and the corn was TALL -- literally all you could see were cornstalks & no street signs anywhere to be found until we FINALLY saw one that said "Rt. 30" to our right -- HEY...we have a location marker now...we can get home! No, we did NOT have GPS but I would have really loved one that night!

I keep trying to convince DH that there *has* to be a shorter way but alas he insists that's the best way. My DD did a music camp at U of I in Champaign last year for the first time. The new girl she met over the summer, her parents had gone several times so I asked them "what route do you take?" and sure enough it was the 47 way & was told that was the best way they found to take (they didn't know I knew that way). I think I'm resigned to that is just the way we go & I should just count it as part of the trip with our Gibson City required stop. :rotfl:

The only thing that makes it maybe not so bad is DD reminded me that she could drive part of the trip next year, more than likely with just a permit and she figured that would be a good way to get LOTS of hours of practice in. OK...if she is going to drive, then driving route 47 sounds better to me for her to be driving on.

Hi everyone!! Been so busy that I haven't logged on since April 22nd. Finally figured I'd better get over here and catch up. Have an unexpected business trip to the UK next week. Flying out on Mother's day and should be wheels down in London around 7am Monday morning (local time).

We leave Joliet after school/work at 3:00 and can make it to Nashville in 7ish hours. It is then a full day to Florida the next day. We try to be past Atlanta around noon.

I used to leave work in Naperville around 3:30 and would hit Manchester, TN, by midnight. Since that was my halfway point, I would usually stop there for the night unless I was still feeling good. I always read the billboards as I woul drive and when I started having to take a second glance to focus, then I knew it was time to stop.

I keep trying to convince DH that there *has* to be a shorter way but alas he insists that's the best way.

I used to leave the marina in Seneca to drive down to Arcola to visit my cousins. Unfortunately, there just is no other good way than 47. Any other route causes you to have to cut across, instead of heading south towards your destination.

Last time we were down that way, I stopped in Arthur before we left and I just headed north up the gravel roads. Carol kept asking me if I knew where we were and I just replied "Nope, but as long as we keep heading north, we have to hit the Interstate eventually". LOL! Once we hit the Interstate 30 miles later, I just started making my way west until we found an on ramp. LOL! Carol gets very nervous when I start heading between the corn fields.

HI kiddies!!!

I've been so busy here!! To quote Dolly Parton in Steel Magnolias..."I don't know whether to scratch my watch or wind my butt." :)

Packing up a storm. DH will be in town this weekend to help pack too.

Our neigbor was really nice and cut our mile-high grass (thanks to all that rain)! Luckily, he has a rider mower and it took no time at all to cut.

DH's mom is sick again. She was to go to see her cancer doctor this week to get on chemo treatments but that won't be able to happen now until she's better.

slo I wish you lived closer to help me pack too!!!
I hope the vet was able to melp Sophie!!!
I did know your brother's b-day and Sophie's anniv. date was the 18th of July! That's Hunter's b-day too!! :)

geffric Don't forget you can take 355 to 80 now. That should save some time than your old route. ;)

disneygal PICS!!!! :3dglasses

piglet I had a benign tumor scare myself many years ago. I'm so happy for you that it is benign. What a weight off your mind that must be.

Becky The only thing quicker is gonna be a plane!!! :)

Hi to all!!! Need to run!!

Evening all. Just a quick fly by. Wanted to say howdy and hope all are well. Started the busy weeks on Sat. and tomorrow is the big "Go Live" day. We shall see what happens. Should be interesting. We are also having a Cince de Mayo lunch for everyone. Taco/Nacho bar. We had to get the food together so I have been busy shopping and fixing food.
Slo, how did Sophie fare at the vet?
Bunchkin, happy packing. I did try to call you tonight. Phone rang and rang. I will be on the run the next few days, but will try again to catch you home.
Crissup, have a safe trip!
Hello to everyone else. I need to get to bed!
Later.

10 pages since I was last here! So Sorry!

(Thanks Hersey! ;) )

I won't bore you with Kelly's ridiculous last few weeks, nor her upcoming 4 weeks, but I will say I'm looking forward to her 'schedule' getting reduced, somewhat, next month - maybe?!

HELLO ALL!!! Sorry to not be here daily, weekly. :guilty:

Found out yesterday my cousin is now a DISer also! She is going to WDW again in Nov! :cool1: I'm so jealous because we're going to Montana this summer to see DH's sister (she has MS and is wheelchair-bound) and we'll go to Glacier Natl park for 2 nights, BUT with ALL Disney is offering, we could've gone there instead for the same or just a little more money!! :sad1::sad1: It'll be good for Kelly to see another part of the great U.S. tho, totally laid-back and beautiful! ;) And, to see her Aunt, who shares a BD with her.

I said I wouldn't bore you.

Goodnight all! Please keep me in mind when things/Meets come up! Thank you again Hersey!!

:grouphug:

This is my usual Tuesday morning quickie - I have my leads group this morning.

Update on Sophie....... :dog:
The vet said there was no evidence of ticks attached at this time. The sore under her ear was much larger than I realized, and the vet said that this could have been started by a tick, but he's not 100%. The wound is growing, which he wasn't happy to see, because it could be a bacteria infection, and not just an infection. He put her on an oral antibiotic, and a topical antibiotic. He said that if her sore isn't better in a week, that I need to bring her back, because there's something worse going on, that the antibiotic won't heal.

In case anyone care - I learned a little about ticks.
Ticks don't go all the way under the sick (we thought they did), only the head does. Females will balloon up with blood, which makes them very easy to see. The males can be as small as a pin head, and they don't balloon up. They just feed, and then detach themself (this is what the vet thinks could have happened to Sophie). When removing a tick, you should put mineral oil on it, with a QTip, and then carefully pull it off with tweasers. You must not break it, because all that disease will get all over your dog. You should also wear gloves, so you don't get disease on your hands.

Now that I've sat around talking about Ticks, I need to get ready for my meeting. I read everyone's posts, and I'm sorry I can't respond individually.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Morning guys! Wow, I can't believe it is Tues already! DD7s Communion was lovely. They all looked like little angels. It was a beautiful day and everyone had a good time at the party. The park district building we rented has a playground, mini golf and batting cages so everyone had a great time. DD was off school yesterday so I took her for her portraits. Oh how I wish money was no object, I could have spent hundreds of $$. The photographer did a really great job.

slo - so glad it wasn't a tick problem but hope Sophie's infection gets better and not worse.

Bunchkin - best of luck with the packing. We moved only once and I can honestly say I NEVER want to do that again.

mac - glad you're feeling better and thanks for the listings.

Crissup - safe travels and enjoy the UK. I travel like you too sometimes, just taking whatever road heads in the right direction knowing that sooner or later I'll get where I need to go.

Becky - I so wasn't expecting DS8s meeting to go so long, I was expecting the usual hour but 2.5hrs - yikes!

Tiggerrn - best of luck on "Go Live" day tomorrow, fingers crossed all goes well.

 to everyone else!

Well, have to run. We joined the YMCA so I want to go this morning and get in a workout. Enjoy our last day of sunshine before the rains return! :flower3:

Morning! It is finals week-one more and I am done. I decided to be "productive" today, but I am already pooped! I am trying to study, do laundry, and integrate summer clothes and get rid of winter/stuff that no longer fits dcs. I think it is nap time!
slo- Hope Sophie is better. Do you put Frontline or anything on her?
bunchkin- I hate moving! Good luck!
ID- Ready for the trip? I have the suitcases out! Also got ME papers the other day! Congrats to dd, btw. I remember at mine, I got sandals with a little heel to wear. I was SO cool!
Mac- Thanks for the listings! I wish I had DIY- that Epcot yard crashers sounded neat! Hope you are feeling better!

DS was in his first play last night! He remembered all 4 of his lines! He also won first place in an art contest and was supposed to be at the unveiling of a county history thing with the mayor last night, but...I saw the note in his backpack last night!!! I'll bet it was supposed to go home on Fri., but ds was sick. Then, I didn't look in his backpack when I picked him up because we went straight to the dress rehearsal. Ugh! An email would have been nice! It is supposed to be hung up, so we are going to see the prize winning piece!

Good Morning all!

slo - Interesting reading about ticks in the morning. :) Hopefully Sophie's sore will heal up with the meds.

Since I missed a ton in the middle what is a leads group?

Irish dancer -- Photos are a weak spot of mine. We should be getting the proof book for DD's photo shoot for the pageant soon & on one hand I'm excited, on the other not so much -- I have a feeling I'm going to want prints of my own vs. just the ones he's willing to give us. So, I'm wondering how much I'm going to end up spending that wasn't in the plans just because I love the pictures so much. :lmao:

Hi to everyone else.

Let me just say that I'm also not thrilled that you all are siding with DH about Rt. 47! :rotfl: Looks like I get to see the corn & beans again (and how much it has grown into retail actually in certain areas).

Kevin made Monkeybread last night, for the first time, and I can't stop eating it. It is so yummy!!!:goodvibes It was especially good after he took it out of the oven, but I put some in the microwave this morning, and had it with my coffee - I've died and gone to heaven - so good!!!!!:goodvibes

Thanks for all the well wishes for Ms. Sophie :dog:
Her sore seems to be getting better, but it's so hard to tell. With all her hair, and her impatience while trying to look at it, makes it hard to get a good look. I'll keep you posted:)

ID - I"m so glad your DD had a great day:goodvibes Again, congratulations, and God's blessings to her!!!:goodvibes

paint - Congratulations to your DS on his play and his first place win :cheer2: That's awesome!!!!

Becky - A Leads Group is a group of professionals that get together once a week (and you HAVE to be there once a week, or have a sub go for you) to refer each other's businesses out to other people. You have to pay a yearly fee, and only one type of business is allowed in the group. So for me, no other picture framers can join. You MUST refer people out, and the group does keep track of how many you refer out, and if an actual sale happens. If you don't refer people out, than you can no longer be in the group. With this economy, I'm hoping that this generates more business for my store, because I really need it!!!!

Well, I must go get Steph some breakfast, and then I have to jump in the shower to get the hair dye out of my hair (I never enjoy hair dying day).

I hope you all have a good day today!!!

Good Wednesday/Hump Day Morning Chicagoland Homies..

just think, after 5 today, only 2 more work days this week.

i'm doing okay at this point. my face is still swollen on one side and welted but in time it will go down.

i'm tired all the time.
main reason for that is i had to return to my job or lose it.

i go to work, come home and go to bed.
then up to fix dinner, stay up for a bit and back to bed.

i'm so looking forward to the weekend.
:worship:

too much for me to ketchup with here.
i'll do a one minute review this weekend......

thank you all for the well wishes and pixie dust you have sent my way.
very much appreciated.

Mac - I'm sorry to hear that you had to go back to work, and couldn't stay home to heal:guilty:I"m glad you are doing better, and I pray that you completely get well soon. Take care, and try and not overdo it

Kim - :wave2:

I hear Stephanie's alarm clock going off, which means it's time to go make her lunch - have a good day!!

just a quick drive by. off to work now...
:drive:

have a great day homies....:goodvibes

Morning guys! Wow, it's Thursday already :cool1:. DH is going to the new Star Trek movie tonight with his DBro, should be fun. Not much else going on around here.

mac - glad to hear you're healing, I hope it continues to go well.

paint - congrats to DS on the play and first place for his art. What a bummer you missed the unveiling.
*Get packing! LOL, I should talk lots still to do around here and only 36 days left to do it! :cheer2:

:wave2: to slo, Becky, Kim and all Chicago Disers.

I guess I'd better get by stuff together to go to the YMCA. Also need to swing by Once Upon a Child, dropped off 2bags of stuff yesterday. Have a great day everyone, stay dry! :flower3:

Mac- Hang in there!
Slo- I have been enjoying these non-rushed mornings, since I don't have class. I sleep until 7!!!
ID- I know, not much time! One month from today we will be in Epcot-CR for dinner! I need to call and order a cake for dd's bday. What are your plans looking like? We have ADRs for dinner at the parks with EMH...we'll go someplace else, then head over for ADRs and enjoy the late hours of rides!

I took my last final yesterday and it was easy! It was a fill in the blanks thing with answer key. Now I can relax. I work all weekend, which will only ge great when I count my money Sunday evening (a penny earned is penny for WDW). It is college grad. and mom's day weekend...busiest weekend of the year. I should be exhausted!
