Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Hi guys! Well, I'm feeling so lucky I think I might go buy a lotto ticket!! :yay: We thought since DH had made it through yesterday without being notified of a layoff that all was well......not so! He arrived at work today to find out his boss had flown in from Calif for their 10a meeting. At that meeting they were told that 37% of their division was being cut :scared1: . They were having 1 on 1 meetings after the group one. DH met with his boss at 12n (a little over an hour after that first meeting) and the first thing she told him was that he wasn't impacted! :worship: :cool1: :cheer2: I cannot tell you how relieved I am, with him being our only source of income it was beyond stressful. They've known since December that layoffs were going to happen and then at the beginning of March they were told that it would happen by the end of the month so really there has been that nagging stress for over three months but these past three days have by far been the worst. I've decided to celebrate with a big dinner, I've got a turkey breast defrosting in the sink and just put a cake in the oven.

slo - where are you, I hope all is well.......

Tiggerrn - I know you'll get everything done before vaca. Enjoy the trip and I'm sure no matter the weather you'll have a great time.

geffric - best of luck at the interview, I hope it goes well! :wizard:

paint - I hope you're feeling better soon, don't you hate spring colds! Have fun with your sis and bil this weekend.
*I was so afraid I was going to have to cancel our June trip due to DHs job, I'm so glad we're not. We've got the Plaza and Biergarten for lunch and then Boma for DH and I for dinner while the kids go to Simba's Clubhouse. How about you? How are the plans coming along?

disneygal - I'm glad you got a better night sleep. I hope things are better at work after yesterday, such a sad story.

momto1 - mums the word, I won't tell ;). Have fun at DSs game!

piglet - I hope all goes well for you at the doctor, here's some PD for you :wizard:

Leigh - isn't it the worst when they drag that kind of news out!!! I teased DH that we should sue for undue torture. ;)

Well, I can smell the cakes so I'd best check on them (I forgot to set the timer, duh). I hope everyone has a great day!! :flower3:

Well, that could have gone better. BP is still high, so I have a beta blocker to take now as well. Add to that, my cholesterol is still not good, I have a prescription for Zocor. The MRI is not encouraging. I now have two "spots" instead of just the one. My doctor did not really want to go into much detail, instead I have to go see one of the specialists at the hospital. He did however tell me that there is a possibility that a biopsy will be needed. He even called himself "Mr Doom and Gloom." All in all, I think that was one of the worst office visits I have ever had. I am trying so hard to not freak out, but it is hard. Dewain is not home right now, and I really just need some hugs and reassurance from him that this will all be fine.

ETA ~ The MRI was of my brain, not sure if I shared that I was having it done.

:grouphug: and more :grouphug:

it will be okay.. with medicine and exercise and such things will be okay..:grouphug:

Thanks guys, it helps to know that I at least have cyber hugs. I just wanted to add that the MRI was of my brain, not sure if I shared that I had that done last week or not.

ID Glad your husband is not getting layed off. This is a rough time for everyone.

Piglet :hug:Hopefully those spots are nothing more than spots. Try to relax I know easier said than done.

Paint Who is a neatfreak? The pups are driving me crazy along with the kid.:rolleyes1

Sorry I didn't post yesterday - the boards were not coming up on my computer - I think they were moving very very slow. I tried several times, and then I gave up. Then I had a lot going on during the day, so I didn't have a chance to check in then.

TTTTTTTTTTTigernn - You leave tomorrow :woohoo: Have a wonderful and safe trip!!!!:cool1:

ID - I was very glad to read about your DH's job still being okay :)

paint - Here's some :wizard:to feel better soon!!!!

Happy Friday Homies!:flower3: Anybody have any fun and exciting plans for the weekend? (Tig, have a wonderful trip) We are going out for my sister's 30th bday. It's going to be a surprise dinner for her at the fuji steakhouse. Never been there but have heard very good things about it! My other sis is all mad and upset b/c she can't go (it was short notice). She already made plans with her in laws to celebrate a birthday on that side. I told her not to worry about it b/c we'll have cake and a get together maybe sunday at home. other than that, my weekend will consist of :laundy: and cleaning and hopefully some relaxing! :goodvibes

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

I had so much fun last night - my best friend came over and treated us to dinner. The pizza she brought was so yummy, and then we played 500 Rummy, and I won!!!!:woohoo: I don't win much at things, so when I do, it's pretty exciting. Jennifer is already planning a rematch, because she's not good at losing, and she said she needs to study a strategy, and then we need to play again:rotfl: We had some great laughs last night, it was great!!!

We finally watched the final ER last night, and I was surprised with how unsad it was. I was expecting to be blubbering like an idiot, and I wasn't - I didn't shed one tear. I did enjoy the episode, and I thought it was good. Did any of you watch it? What did you think?

TTTTTTTTigerrnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn - Bye!!!! Have fun!!!! Bring back some sunshine please :sunny: Be safe - we'll miss you!!!! :wave2:

Hi everyone!!

DD did really great in the Math Bee. Her team came in 2nd place. They missed one problem and overall it was the easy one. Go figure!!
DS's musical was great. I was able to video tape it for DH and loaded it onto a DVD for him to watch. I have to mail that out tomorrow to him.

DH's mom is back in the hospital, not sure for how long this time.
They're saying she has pneumonia now too. Her fever has broken and she says she's feeling better.
Every time she leaves the hosptial she gets worse!
And it's been months since her last round of chemo.

And to add to the mess....
The job site DH was working on is being run by MGM and they just lost their financing!!! :sad2: So he's laid off AGAIN! :headache:
