Calling all Chicago DISers #3

good monday morning chicagoland homies......:goodvibes

i'm looking forward to seeing Mr Sun today..

yes slo, we received 8" of snow.
it was that wet heavy stuff, icky.

it should melt in a few days. should have nice weather today and rain on tuesday so that will take care of this snow.

hope all are doing fine and becoming healthy.

catch you later gator......

slo, quit playing with knives.......

Good Monday morning guys! Well, I'm on Phase I of Spring Break. DS is off this week. He slept in until 8a!! I still had to be up to get the girls out but it was nice to get that done with him still in bed. The girls will be off the week after Easter.

slo - yikes, I hope your hand feels better soon!
*Did Stephanie get out OK? Around here the first day back is usually OK, it's the second day that is the problem.......

mac - I hope your snow melts quickly! Luckily ours melted yesterday.
*Thanks for the listings, we missed that Miley Cyrus bday cake one so I'll DVR it for the girls.

momto1 - glad to hear you're nearly ready to go, I hope you have a GREAT week in WDW. I so wish we were going now too but we have to wait until June.

Bunchkin - I'm so glad DHs mom is doing a bit better. I'm constantly amazed at how much my mom has become more like a child. Unfortunately, she is a stubborn child that won't accept the fact that she's getting old and doesn't follow doctors orders.
*Good luck to DD and DS this week!

disneygal - how did the photo shop go? Any luck with designs?

Tiggerrn - I'll make you a deal, I'll come pack for you if I get to go too :rotfl:. I hope you guys have a GREAT time in WDW too!

Dan - so glad to hear you're doing better. I hope things keep going well.

Hi to everyone else!!

Well, DS and I went to the library and he is driving me absolutely crazy wanting to get on my computer to play a game he checked out so I've got to run. Have a great day everyone, enjoy the sunshine!! :flower3:

Good Afternoon Everyone! :flower3: I could've sworn I posted earlier this morning... guess not. I did play around on photoshop and got one thing slightly accomplished. For our Save the Dates, Disney sends some out but a lot of brides send their own out as well. Originally, I was just going to use the Disney ones b/c they have more information and are professional. But then I came across another Disney bride who made these adorable "boarding pass save the dates" I thought they would be really cute so I started trying to come up with a nice design. I have the "envelope" part almost done. It just needs some tweaking. On the actual "boarding pass" part, I'm going to put a magnet on the back so people can put it on there fridge! We'll see how they turn out. I was just playing around with the idea!

Slo ~ sorry to hear about your hand. Hope it feels better soon:wizard:

hope everyone has a wonderful day! :flower3:

My hand still hurts today, but it hasn't split back open - I tried to not use it much yesterday. I need it to heal fast because I have a couple cross-stitches to stretch, and I don't want to bleed on them - that would not be good:sad2: Thanks for the well wishes!!!:goodvibes

momto1 - Stephanie got off to school surprisingly better than I expected. I hope today is the same:rolleyes:
**I bet you are getting excited for your trip:cool1:Bring some of that warm Florida sun home with you okay :sunny:

Mac - Yes, I will stop playing with knives:laughing:

ID - Wow, your spring break is spread out - that's great!!!!:thumbsup2
**I didn't know you could check out games at the library - I'm going to have to see if my library does that - thanks for the tip!!!:)

DG - Are the "save the date" cards something that most brides due today? No one did those when I got married. I like the idea of them, I was just curious if they are the norm now.

Well, I must go eat my grapefruit, and get Stephanie up for school:teacher:
Have a good day everyone!!

Good morning all! What a gloomyday today! The perfect day to sleep in, especially since I was up late doing homework. There is about a month left of the semester, which is life, however, all of those project that seemed so far away are coming due! Yikes!
slo- Hope your hand heals. What a pain, literally! It is so hard, especially with hand washing and still trying to use it.
Dgal- Those sound cute!
ID- The spread out breaks are nice. It lightens the load on you for a few weeks!
Mac- Not too many shows this week. Boo! Also, this snow stinks. We were in the city, S Burbs and finally home in Central, IL, all of Sunday-what a variety of snow amounts we saw!
Tig and Momto- I wanna' go! Take me! Don't you need a servant?!?
Bunchkin- :hug:to your family and what you've been going through.
Dan- Glad you are feeling better!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: Nothing too new around here.

Slo ~ Save the Dates are pretty standard. Both my sisters had them and most ladies on the wedding boards use them as well. Especially with destination weddings, it's important to send something out as far in advance as possible so people can plan.

Paint ~ good luck with the rest of your semester. :wizard: how many more do you have?

hello ladies & gents,

I was directed here by one of the ladies over at the Pop Tarts thread and I wanted to say hello! Hope everyone is enjoying their Tuesday!

Anyway, my DH and I are planning our Disneymoon, just in time for our 2nd Anniversary! We were broke and had just started new jobs when we got married, so it has taken time for us to decide where to go and what to do. I had like the idea of Disney and signed up here (hence my name being 07) but we did not have funds and then the idea fell to the wayside eventually...until my mom put the idea back into my head!

We are going 8/30 to 9/6 to POR with free dining and we are so thrilled! I am so excited to be planning this trip and meeting all kinds of other Disney fans! We live and work in Chicago (in neighborhoods in the city), and have since right before we got married.

Welcome DisneymoonJess! :flower3: Glad you have found us here! Congrats on your belated honeymoon! Hope you stop by here often! :goodvibes

Hi guys! What a dreary day....... Well, DS is enjoying his week of uninterupted TV/computer/Playstation time. ;) His new computer games we got at the library are keeping him busy.

Well, tomorrow is "D" Day. DHs office will be notified who will be getting laid off........Approx 60% of those offered the early retirement pkg took it. The waiting is killing us I wish they'd just get on with it. :headache:

DisneymooonJess07 - :welcome: to our little thread. I hope you guys have a wonderful Disneymoon, better late than never I say! Hope you come around often so we can get to "know" you.

paint - best of luck with those projects, that is one reason that I just can't bring myself to go back to school....I don't think I could do papers and projects again.

slo - glad to hear Stephanie got up and out without a hassle and that your hand is going better.

disneygal - those Save the Dates sound too cute, it must be so fun planning all of this.

:wave2: to all our other 'regulars' and lurkers out there. Hope you're having a great day.

Well, have to go get myself some lunch and change the laundry load. Catch you all later! :flower3:

another dreary day.. rain and snow go away.. and rain don't come back for awhile.. but snow we will seee ya in December..

anyway went to volunteer for meals on wheels today.. i am getting good at packing food..now I need to send out some resumes nd do some research..

Welcome DisneymoonJess

irish dancer hope things are okay for your DH on the job front..

disneygal save the date cards are common here.. I can understand why too.. the bride and groom make plans so far out and want to make sure that everyone can come..

bunchkin.. :grouphug: for you and Tony.. hope the 'rents are pain free.. it is miserable to go through for all..

Not sure about the discussion point with the Save the Dates, but we did them for our wedding two years ago and I help moderate a wedding board and there are lots of brides who use them. They are especially great for people with lots of family out of town (like DH & I) so people can get everything squared away so they can attend.

I am sure to be around often!

Also, anyone have advice about flying to Disney? I am looking at fares now and there is an Airtran one that looks attractive, but the Southwest fares don't come out until April 14...which just makes me nervous. Anyone have an opinion on whether I would get a deal better than $83 each way, or the relative merits of Airtran versus SWA. Clearly, I'm trying to stay with Midway, but am open to O'Hare as well.

Airtran makes me nervous.. lots of fare sales going on now.. it might be possible to check united and american and see what their prie is exp if you are flexible..

Hi gang! I guess I am glad that I am work on this dreary day!

Today is ds first volleyball game and I am missing it. I can't have work flexibility this week since I am gone next week. I am sure I will get a full report from ds and dh.

DG - We just received a save the date magnet. We have friends getting married in Fort Wayne. The put their picture on the magnet with the information.

ID - Sounds like ds is enjoying his spring break! Good luck to dh on his job security tomorrow.

DisneymoonJess - Welcome to our board. Visit us oftern! I am going back Florida in September and am waiting to see the SW fares. I don't like paying $15 for a checked bag on Air Train!

Geffric - Continued good luck on your job search.

Paint - Good luck on your school projects!

Hi to everyone else! Stay dry.
Lori

I didn't know that had the baggage fee on AirTran! We just flew United and everyone did like we did - brought the tiny little bag of luggage on the plane with them and it was crowded and awful. I will wait for April 14 then!! Thank you for that bit of info!

DisneymoonJess07 Welcome and Happy belated honeymoon.

Geffric I hope you find a job soon. Have you ever heard of Feed our starving children? They are always looking for people to help out. Alex and my neighbors help out there.

In case any one else doesn't feel like cooking Brown's chicken has a coupon 8 pieces of chicken for $5.99. Pretty cheap if you can only get the chicken I had to get some sides.:rolleyes1

Decided to work from home today for my birthday. Figured I'd at least get out for lunch and enjoy some time outside. Wouldn't you know it would rain all day? Really wanted to take tomorrow off instead, but with a major worm set to hit the Internet hard tonight, I figure I better be in the office tomorrow in case we get hit.

Also, anyone have advice about flying to Disney?

Don't flap too hard. While it will get you there faster, your arms will be much more tired and you won't enjoy your 'moon as much. :lmao: :lmao:

Rent a car. While it will be an additional expense, you'll be able to get around the property much more efficiently and will allow you to enjoy your time more. Travelling from one resort to another in the evening to eat at a certain restaurant can take as much as two hours to get there by the time you wait for the buses, transfer at downtown disney, etc. With a car, you can be there in 10 minutes, leaving you more time to enjoy.

I will check them out thanks..

Happy Birthday John.. hope it was special and happy..
