Calling all Chicago DISers #3

disney gal......:wave2:

congrats on the little firecracker you are going to have!

aim for the 4th..........

then all your child's life he/she will think the fireworks are part of their birthday celebration......

I need help, please! My DD has an interview with The Theatre School at DePaul in February. We will be on a whirlwind trip and will be driving in from Ohio and then back out to Pittsburgh. I would love suggestions on where to stay for the one night. I will have to park, obviously, and would like valet services, I guess. That would probably be easier for me. I'm not crazy about driving to Chicago, but the airfare for all this is outrageous!

Not sure..but I would think that there must be some motels near DePaul or try the southern burbs and drive to the interview...good luck

Congrats on the new up coming Mouseketeer DG..and have fun on the cruise..

You may want to check Groupon or Living Social for Chicago... They often have good deals for hotels in that area.

Not sure what your price range would be or do you want a room with a "view"...

The otehr place for Chicago Hotel deals would be HERE:

Other place would be HotWire

One of the unadvertised places is the Seneca Hotel

I like the location and the price per night.

I live near there. There are a couple hotels within a few blocks in Lincoln Park. The heart of downtown isn't far either. Depending on your price range, I can give you a few suggestions.

I would love some suggestions! The budget is kind of open right now. I want her to enjoy the two short days we have. I think she's really, really going to like Chicago!

We live in the suburbs but often like to stay a night "in the city". We have bid for some fantastic deals on Priceline. You can specify the area. However, you can't guarantee 2 beds instead of one. If you have 4 people you take a chance of landing up with a King. The other option is Hotwire. We have enjoyed luxurious rooms for low, low prices! There is a site called "Better Bidding" where people post recent bids that they have won. Also, we just ate a fantastic meal at "The Little Goat Diner". Check it out.

Chicago is great. Especially in the area.

Note: I can only vouch that these are in good areas and look like places I'd send my parents. lol

Here's a few hotels in the Lincoln Park area.

DG -
Hello and CONGRATS!!!
Lori

Congrats on the new up coming Mouseketeer DG..and have fun on the cruise..

Thanks everyone! We are very excited!

Mac - It's funny you mention "aim for the 4th". When I found out I was due in July my immediate thought was... I hope s/he comes on the 4th. I have always LOVED fireworks and it would be so fun to have a 4th of July birthday party every year! Even if s/he comes on the 15th... I suppose I can still have the party on the 4th. LOL. I'm already party planning. :goodvibes

I hope everyone is doing well. I miss being around here more. I really like our group!

Thanks for the suggestions. I think we are going with the Hotel Lincoln.

No your eyes do not deceive you, tis I, DMM back again. Kind of! LOL! It's been 5 years since I popped in here but we have still been going to Disney regularly. Life just got in the way. 3 in school has me busy all day long with helping out anywhere I can and actually making some real life friends! :rotfl2:

I wanted to pop in and say hello!

Hi friends!!!

I wanted to take a few minutes to check in, and let you know how we are all doing.

*Stephanie has graduated from middle school, and is now a freshman. I have no idea where the time has gone:confused3 and I still can't believe that I am old enough to be the mother of a high school student:lmao: She is spending a lot of time at the high school doing the conditioning program for soccer, and has volunteered to train as goalie (she's never played this before). Last night was her first night being goalie at a scrimmage game against another high school, and she did a great job. I'm really proud of her!!!!:goodvibes

*Katie is now going into fourth grade, and this will be her last year in elementary school. She is having an awesome softball season with only striking out 4 times the whole season, and has really become a power hitter (she got her first homerun a couple weeks ago:worship:). Her pitching is getting better also, and she is really becoming a great athlete. When she tried out for All Stars, she ranked #2 out of 16 girls, so we were/are very proud of her!!!!:goodvibes

*Kevin and I have been busy keeping up with our girls activities, and we are coaching softball again this year (Katie's team). Our regular softball ends this weekend, and then we are managing the All Star team, and that runs through the month of July. After that, we will coach Katie's fall ball team, and that starts in August. Between softball and soccer, we are not home very much, but that's ok, because we have tons of fun!!!!:thumbsup2

*I'm still working at the chiropractors office I told you all about almost a year ago, and I absolutely love it!!!!:goodvibes:lovestruc I'm so happy that I closed my store, and was blessed with this wonderful job. The doctor and I have sworn to stay together until we both retire. Since he's older than me by about 5 years, he said that he will work long enough so I can collect Social Security, and then we'll retire together. He's a great guy, and I'm very blessed to work with him everyday!!!!:goodvibes

I think that's about it, and it's enough.
I hope all is well with you and your families.
If you have a moment, check in, and let us know how you are doing.

With love and pixie dust!!!!:wizard::wizard:
Sandy
