Calling all Chicago DISers #3

good sunday morning chicagoland homies.
i have a minute before i leave for church.
will have your backs for the week.

hope the day is good for you.
i know ducks love this type of weather..........:goodvibes

we haven't stopped raining yet.
it keeps coming down but now all of our snow is gone, so that is a good thing.

geffric, i know your pain when it comes to cars.
mr mac was stuck for 3 hours before the tow truck came for him yesterday morning.
he went to the doctor and the car wouldn't start when he was going to leave to come home.
crankshaft sensor went out.......well over $400..........there goes march's budget for us.

but, it is better than making car payments all the time.
one time mechanic and towing bill was to be expected when you drive older cars.

as long as the temps don't dip and the rain doesn't turn into snow, we all will be fine for monday.......;)

Thanks for the well wishes for the car.. they will look at it on Monday Morning and let me kown what it costs... luckily I have motor club so the tow is paid for by them.. the iginiton problem is common with Dodge Caravans according to several internet sites. They recommend hitting the key with a mallet, shoe, sunglass case.. and then replacing the part.. so I'll see what the estimate for repair is..

It is still raining and damp.. yuck.. i am thinking I'll make some soup..

Rain, rain, go away our streets have flooded enough today!

Mac, thanks for posting the listings. Hope it's not too wet by your area.

Tiggnnn...I hope your strep clears up quickly and you start to feeling better. Thanks for telling me about the Wii system...I keep getting tempted!

Slo...are you finding you have a lot more work to do on your own since you lost your employee?

Geffric, sorry to hear about your car issues.

Hersey..YES, the thunder woke us up yesterday (well, first it woke up Binx and then he woke us up, my doggie hates thunderstorms).

Robby...where were you thinking of for a meet?

Shout out to all...everyone try to stay dry and have a good week!:)

hey donna, you're welcome.
I try to do the tv listings every week when i see they have come out.

our streets are flooded up here. i had to go to the grocery store this afternoon and couldn't get through some of the streets. The drain system can't handle these down pours.

i'm sure it is bad in other areas also.

bad news is, the temps are going to drop and it will then be sleet tonight.

ugh..........

Happy Monday (what an oxymoron, right?)! I am on Spring Break, but my kid's aren't for a few more weeks. I am going to relax today and am starting a diet. I've let 15 lbs. creep on in the last few years and need to scale back. What a tough week to start, though, when I am home with all the snacks! TG I haven't broken open the Tagalongs. They need to stay locked in the box!:rotfl2:
Tig- Hope you're feeling better. DS had strep 2months in row!
Rob- All for a meet! I am in Central, IL, so I prefer S of the city or at least near the city. You planning?
Donna- We had barking dogs at 4 a.m.!
mac- DVR is set! Thanks!
slo- Glad K registartion went well. I was sad when ds, myfirst went, but fine when dd went. I'd already been through it!
gef- I am doing MNSSHP and F&W, too- first time!
ID- Want to go to Akerhaus on the 14th for lunch? I am going to order a bday cake! I beed to get on those res. soon!
hersey- What a time to clean carpets...love spring but hate muddy paws. Puppy isn't so good at waiting to have his feet wiped. Dog is patient.

Ugh, need to make ADRs today. I've heard horror stories about the wait times. Also, I am not 100% on a few yet.
Also might add a new ticker soon. Going in Fall with my mom and sister for a short trip, just not sure of dates yet. That will be my first MNSSHP!

Good Monday Mourning Chicagoland Homies..........

it might not rain today.

woo hoo.............

did we beat slo here today?.

Morning all. Slowly on the mend. Amoxicillin is so not my drug of choice!! EVER. I think I may have healed at this speed on my own. Weather is not helping. Weather lady said the sun was out!?:confused3 WHERE?!!!!!
geffric hope the car troubles are easily and cheaply taken care of.:wizard:
Mac, I sure hope you didn't get hit by too much slush last night.
Slo, where you at this morning? Forget the time change?:rolleyes1
For those of you heading off to FW this fall, please, please have a Maine Lobster Roll for me in America. That was soooooo good. Cheese soup in Canada was good too.
Going to say howdy to all and then off for a nap. Still mending.
Later.

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: Am I the only one around here who doesn't mind rain? Yeah, it does suck to walk in it but it makes the grass nice and green and means spring is coming! I know I know... temps are dropping and it's cold again but still! I'm optimistic today!

Well, i best get back to work! :goodvibes

Ugh! What a week!! Last Monday, as I was at work getting things together before leaving for Vegas, I started feeling really bad. So, Carol and I finally decided to take me to quick care before we had to leave for Vegas on Tuesday morning. A few blood tests and a throat culture later, nothing found. But, the doctor gave me a prescription for Levaquin just in case and sent me on my way. So, Tuesday afternoon, we check in at Mandalay Bay and get situated. As we were checking in, I offered the front desk clerk $20 if he could find us a free upgrade. Well, he said the hotel was just too booked to pull a free upgrade off, but he could upgrade us to a nice 750sq ft room with sofa and Jacuzzi for $25 a night. We took the deal, gave him his $20 tip and off we went. The room had a nice mountain view out one window and a view of the strip (straight at the side of the Luxor) out the other window.

We went down, enjoyed a very nice lunch buffet before I went to get ready for early registration at the conference.

By Tuesday evening, I'm walking to the conference center for early registration and my lungs are just burning as I walk. Two hours later, I've registered, enjoyed my snacks and drinks, collected my free computer case and some swag and headed back to the room to see Carol.

Wednesday, I wake up and head for the conference. My lungs are still burning so bad that I wasn't sure I was going to make it. While I'm at the conference, Carol is wandering through the casino and then headed over to the Luxor. Two hours later, she's back from the Luxor and back in the room. By Wednesday night, she's starting to not feel good. We had an event happening at the nightclub Tao, at the Venetian on Wednesday night that I got Carol into. By the time we left, she was really feeling wiped out.

Thursday, Carol spent the entire day in the room feeling sick. Thursday night, some associates put together a dinner at Smith & Wollenski's. Carol was feeling so wiped that I went without her.

Friday, she thought she was starting to feel better, so we headed off to the Venetian. We weren't there for two hours before Carol felt like she was going to pass out. We headed back for Mandalay and spent the rest of the night in the room. I did get out for about two hours to the casino and grabbed a quick late night meal for dinner and back to the room again.

By Saturday, we weren't sure we were even going to get Carol on the plane. We called our doctor and he said to take her to the ER. We decided to just try and get her home instead. By Saturday night, around 10pm, we were home.

Sunday morning, we took her to quick care and the doctor put her in the hospital. They poked and prodded, swiped and scanned, x-rayed, waved the cat over her, everything. In the end, they never quite figured out what it was, but the doctor suspected it may have been a really bad attack of the flu. Anyway, we got her out this afternoon with orders to keep her out of work until Thursday.

So, here we are finally. A week later, spent our 5th anniversary Vegas trip sitting in a hotel room, and then got to sit in a hospital all night. Poor Carol is so wiped out.

Whew! Now to start planning for our 10 year! :dance3:

John I'm sorry your trip wasn't better. When you both are feeling better you need to go back so you can enjoy yourselves.

This has been a year for sickness. I am ready for spring minus the rain thank you.:woohoo:

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday.
I worked out instead, and found out it made my neck hurt again :guilty:
So, I've come to the conclusion that the exercising I'm doing inside the house is just not a good idea. I'm looking forward to walking again, once it's light out in the morning, and I'm hoping that doesn't make my neck hurt (it did last year when I over did it). I really don't want to return to the Chiropractor - I"m starting to wonder if my adjustments did more harm than good :scratchin I guess only time will tell.

Mac - thanks for the listings!!!!:)

geffric - I"m hope the mechanic didn't give you bad news yesterday. When do you get the car back?

Donna - I do have more work to do, but not much - I didn't trust her to touch to much (she didn't prove herself to responsible (one of the other reasons why she's gone) ). My other highschool employee, the one that also works for Jewel, just quit Jewel, so she'll be working for me more again - this makes me very happy!!!:woohoo:

paint - Good luck with starting your diet:wizard:
**How did everything go with making your ADR's?

TTTTiiigggernnn - I"m glad you are starting to feel better :) I'll send more PD your way to feel even better soon:wizard:

DG - I think you may be the only one here who likes the rain, but that's okay, you can like it for all of us :teeth:

Crissup - I'm so sorry to hear your trip was filled with sickness :guilty: I know a nurse that said her hospital is having a huge epidemic of flu cases where people feel like they have the worse case of heartburn or chest burning - I wonder if this is what you had. She told me this at church one day, to warn me what was going around, so I know the symptoms for me or the girls. How is Carol doing today? I hope she is starting to feel better :wizard: I know the disappointment of planning a nice trip and having it ruined by unplanned sickness. When Kevin and I took our adult only trip to WDW in January 2007, he spent 3/4 of it in bed with a terrible stomach virus - he was miserable!!!! I hope you and Carol can plan another trip soon :wizard: :wizard: Please tell her we hope she is feeling better:grouphug: Are you all better now? Hugs to you too!!!! :grouphug:

HERSEY - Me too!! ::yes:: Me too!!! ::yes::

Well, I'm off to wake Stephanie up and get her to school - I think I may drive her today - it's so yucky outside :umbrella:
Have a good day!!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: Anyone a fan of Dancing with the Stars? I was pretty impressed with a few people.

Crissup ~ sorry to hear you and Carol were both not feeling well on your anniversary trip. :wizard: hope she feels better real soon!

Slo ~ sorry indoor exercise is not helping. :wizard: hope your neck gets better soon. with daylight savings, it should be getting light out soon! just don't over do the walking. take it easy!

Everyone else ~ :wave2: have a wonderful day! :flower3:

john i hope carol gets feeling better real soon.
isn't it scary to be far from home and get that ill?
maybe a few days in bed at home will help her feel better.

mr mac and i ate at smith & wollenski in chgo.
i wasn't that impressed by it. i found a few other places i liked better.

planning your 10th anniversary celebration already. that's great!

slo, hope that pain goes away.
it is difficult to function when you are not feeling good.

i forgot everything else i was going to say.
i need more coffee first.......

but, good tuesday morning chicagoland homies.

Hi Everyone! Since I am home for a few days, I hope I can now catch up a bit here on this thread. There is never enough time for everything it seems..

To everyone with their own health issues and problems, best wishes. This time of year can be rough as we are at the end of winter with just a tease of nice weather then cold returns. Hope you are all well now and looking forward to spring. Slo - my boss had neck issues, finally was diagnosed with disc problem and had surgery last week. He is doing fine now he says...Hope yours is much better now!

John gave the lowdown already I see, lol. Although my doctor wanted me to get to the hospital in Vegas, I truly did not want to do that as I had no idea how long they might have kept me. Last time I felt this bad, I ended up in one for 6 weeks, yikes.

John's was more of a respiratory flu, mine with that plus an intestinal one too. My problem was as I did not eat (for several days) that means my meds which I could take, were just going right through me anyway. So by the time I got to the doctor, my vitals were not too good.

Anyway, I am home now, thankfully out of the hospital. I was in isolation in there and even the cleaning lady had to put on gloves and a floor length gown - not the Oscars variety tho, lol.

The only upside to this whole thing was I dropped some pounds. Now, my goal is to maintain and continue that downward trend. Quite a jumpstart to a diet, but nevertheless effective!

Though I don't have much of a voice today, I am still hoping to get back to work Thursday, so long as I am digesting ok by then. Hence I will have some time to read over the DIS leisurely here, lol.

I am a DWTS fan and I enjoyed the show very much last night. I was impressed that the Bachelor alumni Melissa could step in 48 hrs ahead and dance like she did. I hope she finds success and happiness with this new venture.

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Hi gang! Another day of rain but at least it isn't snow! I see flowers peeking out of the ground. I love hearing the birds singing in the morning, too. Soon...real soon...it will be spring.

John and Carol - So sorry your Las Vegas celebration didn't turn out the way you dreamed. I hope you feel bett real soon.

Slo - Take care of that neck! I am glad you employee will be with you instead of Jewel.

Tiggern - Are you feeling better? Hope so!

Paint - What ADR's did you get? We did ours not 100% certain what we wanted. We are glad we did because we haven't been able to change the times on 2 and had a hard time adding one. When you are going in the fall? My mom and I will be there Sept 26-Oct2. It would be fun to meet up.

Hi to everybody else! Have a great day!
Lori

:wave2: Hi everyone!

Everything's been pretty good over here. Yesterday was my D-Day. I started doing Weight Watchers again. I really need to. :rolleyes1

Carol - I hope you get better soon! And sorry yours and John's trip wasn't the best.

I came downtown on Saturday to meet a friend and go see "Chicago", the musical. I had seen it before, and I really like it, so I was excited that it was coming back. We had a good time. She picked me up at Union Station, and then we went to her house. I had never been there before, and I got to see her twin 2yo DDs. They're so cute. princess: princess: They came out to my house a couple of weeks ago and we went to Max & Erma's. They did better than she and her husband thought they would at the restaurant. :thumbsup2 After we left her house, we went to Macy's and ate at the 7th floor food court. I got a queso fundido flatbread sandwich kind of thing at Frontera Fresco. It wasn't what I was expecting, but it was good.

Then we had a little time, so we walked around the block at the theater (the Oriental, where Wicked was). I had just read a book at a fire at the old theater that was on that block in 1903, the Iroquois. So I wanted to see what the Alley looked like behind it. It was interesting, because it looked a lot like the pictures, although I think it was wider back then.

Then we saw the show. John O'Hurley was Billy Flynn. That was kind of weird. :rotfl: (When I saw it before it was Gregory Harrison, Gonzo from St. Elsewhere.) I thought the Roxie was good, but didn't really like the Velma very much. But I looove the music.

A few weeks ago my friend in Indy with the three kids told me she's having #4 in August. Surprise! To her, too. :rotfl: But it'll be fun. The kids are excited, and are planning out where the baby can sleep. :cutie:

Do you any of you adults here play Webkinz? My Indy friends gave me a grey squirrel, because I love squirrels, and the DD8 insisted that she show me how to sign up, so now I've been playing it. :rolleyes1 I'm kind of addicted to Cash Cow. :sad2:

Greetings happy wet afternoon ( at least it is not snow)

in the NW burbs, mid morning til 1 ish was not rainy but now.. it is pouring. I walked to Dominicks to get ice cream as we were out..
Got the car back yesterday, apparently this is very common in Dodge Caravans.. so prepare to hit the key as it will work and then go to the car place.. if I hd known that, i would have at least had a car for the weekend. Anyway, the ignition and cylinder have to come from the dealer and the dealer has to rekey the cylinder so it works with the key... At least I got a discount, My being laid off is good for something.. I am explaining I am out of work and asking everyone for a discount.

John and Carol - hope carol is feeling better. and John and the kids are clear too.. Sorry about your anniversary.. at least you were together and did a few fun things.

SLO how is your neck today?? Have you thought about a neckbrace for when you exercise??

Sk8Leigh - nice to hear what is happening at your side..

momto1 - I will just miss you as I am coming in 10/3-10/10. I am meeting MAC. She may be at WDW some of the time you are..
