Calling all Chicago DISers #3

Hi everyone!! :wave2:

Been busy with life here.
Hunter has been sick this week....again. Took him to the doctor this afternoon...again. He has some virus, but his nose and throat looked good.

My heart is going crazy today!! I haven't had any 'all day' palpations like this in a long while. I have no idea what is going on with my heart. I actually woke up with it beating like crazy!! :confused3 I think I'm just over stressed and tired. I haven't been sleeping well. All that combined can get my heart beating irregularly. I should know better! :guilty:
I'm hoping that a good night's sleep will help.

DH's mom is back in the hospital. She has a very serious infection. And she hasn't been able to have her chemo in a long time because of this infection and being sick. They believe it's in her colon and either along side her heart or near the port they put near her heart. DH is really worried about her. It's just one bad thing after another that is happening to her.

slo Glad to hear your college employee is around to help out.
I'm sure Katie will be fine when she starts school. It's amazing sometimes how they pick OUR fears and take them on for themselves too.

Leigh Happy belated b-day!! :cheer2:
My kids play on Webkinz too!

paint The rules for buying tickets to HDDR have changed so many times in the past 10 years. It's just crazy!! Hope you can get the tier you want. But really, the place is relatively small and any seat will provide a good view.

geffric Good luck with the continued job searching.
We had a 98 Dodge Grand Caravan and it did the same thing...in our garage.
Tow truck had to pull it out of the garage and onto the flat bed to get to the dealership. Mucho bucks to be fixed. Glad you got a deal!

disneygal I have days where I drop things too!

momto1 Hope you find someone soon who will share your cruise!!

Crissup and Carol Ann Sorry to hear about your bad time in Vegas. Take my word and be thankful you did NOT go to the hospitals in Vegas. There are so many lawsuits that the malpractice insurance is so HIGH there that you just don't get the care you deserve. Hospitals are way over croweded and under staffed there.
Hope you're on the mend soon!!

Gotta run and take care of Hunter. He's hoping to get back to schoool tomorrow.....they are having Abraham Lincoln come and give a presentation to the school. He was to come last month around President's Day but the guy got sick!! :)

Thanks Bunchy! Sorry to hear you're feeling down and so much is happening in your life. Hope all settles down and gets better soon. :)

Hi guys! Man, these days are going by so quickly I can't believe we're almost at the end of another week. :scared: Looks like I have a bit of catching up to do.....

DD11 finished her BBall season at 7W-3L and 3rd in their group. Their playoff tournament is this weekend. If they win Saturday then they'll play again Sun. Keeping our fingers crossed for them!

Our town has a BIG St. Pat's Parade Saturday, DD7s dance school marches so she'll get to be in it. Last year was the first St. Pat's parade I'd watched ever!! I was always in them as a dancer and then with my own Irish dance school. It's fun to watch.

geffric - how was the craft fair last weekend? Did the place that buys the gold pay a good price? I've been thinking of cleaning out my jewlery box too. Maybe before our June trip, extra spending $$.
*Sorry about the van issues, glad they gave you a discount.

paint - bummer, we'd love to help celebrate your DDs bday but we're going to be in MK on the 14th and having lunch at the Plaza. That is a morning EMH at Epcot and I always steer clear of those, it's hard enough to get my family to RD let alone a morning EMH. What's the rest of your schedule, maybe we can meet for fireworks or something.
*What a pain about HDDR, we've never done that. With a family of 5 and the oldest DD is an "adult" I always price it out but it never fits our budget. :sad2:
**My DH is not an adventurous eater at all and was only so-so on Boma but he's agreed to either Jiko of Sanaa (the new AKV restaurant) for our grown-up dinner while the kids do Simba's Clubhouse.

Tiggern - glad you're on the mend, I so cannot do Amoxicillin either yuck!

Crissup & Carol - so sorry your trip to LasVegas was spent sick. Carol, I hope you're feeling better soon!

slo - sorry you've been having neck pain again. What about swimming? That seems like it would be very little impact on the spine.
*Glad your college employee is home and you can get some time off, enjoy!

Leigh - Hi! My girls are both into Webkinz but I don't follow along. DS also has a couple but he never plays with them online, just sleeps with the animals. I'm sure his are sick by now but maybe his sisters have been taking care of them I hope.

KimRaye - glad you found us at our new "home".

momto1 - lol, my DH is also one that thinks it's kind of wierd to meet people you only know from the internet. My mother would probably think I'm totally nuts but then again she doesn't know anything at all about that "internet stuff", lol!

disneygal - I hope your day got better after this morning, I hate those kinds of days that start off that way.

Bunchkin - :wave2: . Sorry Hunter's been sick, poor kid hope he feels better soon.
*I'm sorry your MIL has been having so much trouble, prayers for her and your family.
**My DSs school had Abraham Lincoln visit, he absolutely LOVED it. I hope Hunter makes it back for that.

Phew! I think I've caught up. Sorry if I missed anyone.

Ugh, the dog next door is such a pain! She is a huge Great Dane mix and her bark is so LOUD and she barks at anything and everything all the time! Well today when my DD was going out with our little Jack Russell this dog jumped against the window by my driveway and broke the window. This happened around 3p and there is still no one that has come home and it's nearly 10p! The dog is sticking her head out the window and barking and there's no storm window, it's a mirace she hasn't cut herself on the broken glass. It is a young guy that lives there and I know his parents live in town so I looked them up on the internet but there was no answer the two times I tried them. I hope someone comes soon as I'm tired of hearing her bark.

Well, I think I might watch the news from bed tonight and get a bit of extra sleep. Have a good night everyone. :flower3:

Hello all I hope all that were sick are on the mend.

Bunchkin Sorry to hear that Hunter is not feeling well again. Poor guy has not had a good winter. I am sorry that Tony's mom is not doing well. I keep meaning to call you all but things keep getting in the way.

I woke late and better get ready for work. I'll be back this weekend to catch up.

I have the day off which makes me happy, but I've had a headache since Wednesday, which makes me very unhappy - I just can't shake it!!!! :headache: If I die with a healthy liver and stomach, I'll be amazed with all the Advil and Tylenol that I take:sad2: Drives me crazy!!!!

DG - I hate it when days start off like yours did yesterday :headache: I've had many of those!!! I hope the rest of your day wasn't like the start of your day, and I hope today starts off better :wizard:

Bunchkin - So many hugs to you!!!!  Like HERSEY said, I've been meaning to call you too, but the days go by and it doesn't happen:guilty: I hope you and Hunter feel better soon, and I'll continue keeping Tony's mom in my thoughts and prayers  Take care, and we'll have to talk soon!!!!

ID - How scary about the dog breaking the window  Your neighbor needs to get some control with that dog!!!! Do you feel it's dangerous or just wants to sound dangerous?

To everyone else - :wave2:

I gotta run and watch Steph get on the bus
Have a good day!!

Happy Friday Everyone! :flower3: This morning was much MUCH better than yesterday! I think the fact that it's friday might have something to do with that!

Leigh ~ These webkinz things sound cute! I'll have to look them up :goodvibes

Bunchy ~ :wizard: hope Hunter feels better soon. :wizard: :grouphug: Sorry to hear about your DH's mom. I'll keep her and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

ID ~ I hope you neighbor came home and checked his pooch out? Sorry to hear he was annoying you with his barking.

Slo ~ feel better soon! :wizard:

Everyone else ~ :wave2: have a wonderful day! I hear a warm up is in the forecast!

Evening all!
Slo, hope you feel better soon and your headache goes away. I'll send some of this back to you now. :wizard:
Bunchkin, I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers for your MIL. Hope Hunter is feeling better now.
Crissup and CarolAnn, hope you are both mended quite properly by now. So sorry you had a bummer of a trip to Vegas.
Paint, hope you figure out your HDDR plans and your trip goes as planned.
ID, geffric, Mac, DG, hersey, Leigh, momto1 and everyone else, hope all are well and doing OK.
Later
Oh, I am finally fairly mended. I will never take Amoxicillin again!:sad2: It tore my digestive system to bits-almost worse than the original illness.
I will return to work on Monday and continue on!:rolleyes1

/
Thanks for the get well wishes everyone! I am doing a bit better - just took the last pill from my Z Pak tonite. Sounding like a fog horn still, not much voice. Will plan on getting extra rest this weekend.

Also on the agenda, getting tax stuff all together for the accountant. That is never easy, but a necessary evil. Taking DD to Midway tomorrow as she is flying to FL to visit her BF and his family there. He lives in NH, but is visiting an aunt down there. Universal Studio is on their agenda..

Does anyone else have a ticket for the Shamrock Millionaire drawing this week? Tix were $20 each and they sold out yesterday. Four lucky folks will become millionaires - hope I am one of them, lol.

Have a nice weekend all..

CarolAnn Glad you are doing better. I bought a raffle ticket too. When I bought it I requested a winning ticket so I am sure I have one.

I bring my car back into the shop Monday morning I think we finally know what the problem is. Mysterious things that happen only now and then. I'm bringing it to the dealer. I think it is an electrical issue. So prayers that they can fix it fast cheap and last me another couple of years.

Kim How are you and your family. It is almost another school year down.

Tigggg Glad you are doing well I can't take a lot of antibotics not because of digestive stuff I have a full blown allergic reaction.

Alex is done with his constitution test. They took this past week. I think I would flunk. There is so much I don't remember.

It looks like it is going to be a nice sunny day.:yay:

I have to start this post out by saying how much I love my Pediatrician!!!!!
Here's why.......
Katie's been having a cough that's been getting croupier all week - started Monday. Her nose also started running on Wednesday night. She has had no fever, and has not acted real sick, so I thought she just had a cold. I've been giving her Mucinex during the day and Dimetapp at night. Yesterday at 4pm she comes crying to me about her ear hurting ALOT. The last time this happened her ear drum burst, so I immediately called her doctor. They know me VERY well there, and told me they would talk to the doctor and see what she says in regards to us coming in, or them just calling a prescription - I said "okay" When Kevin got home a 1/2 hour later, Katie was crying more, and I told him I'm just going, and when they call back, to tell them I'm on my way.

When I got there, the receptionist said she was dialing my phone when she saw my car, and that the doctor did want to see her. When we got into a room, and the doctor came in, she said to me, "I told Cindy that this is not a family that messes around. When Sandy says there's something wrong with her kids, that means there is something really wrong with her kids." This made me feel so good that she knows me, knows my family, and knows that I'm not blowing anything out of proportion. She looked in Katie's ears and the painful ear has a full blown ear infection, and the other ear has the beginning of an ear infection. Then she listened to her lungs, and said that her one lung was full of fluid:eek: Basically, she has the beginning stages of pneumonia, and if I would have not gone in, she would have been a very sick little girl by Monday:eek: With Katie's history of having RSV badly twice when she was a baby, her lungs are more susceptible to this type of stuff. So she's on a strong antibiotic, and an inhaler (which she is having a hard time understanding how to breath that mediciane in, but she'll get it by the today). She also needs to use her vaporizer, and sit in a hot shower to breath in the steam (we did this yesterday, and you should have seen the steam in my bathroom - it was pretty funny. We are going to do this again tonight).

The doctor warned me that this could get worse before it gets better. She said I should expect a fever and the cough could get worse, but it's possible we caught it early enough that this may not happen - I pray it doesn't!!! She told me on the way out how grateful she is for not just calling in a prescription, and for actually seeing her. I told her how grateful I am to her for fitting us in at the very very last second of the day.

So that's how I ended my Friday, and I'm praying that Katie doesn't get worse.

So today and tomorrow, we are just going to be home, so Katie can rest rest rest.

Thanks for all for your kind thoughts about me and my constent headaches. I'm starting to feel a little better today, so that's good, because I need to focus on Katie. I'm hoping I continue to feel better today, and best by tomorrow. Thanks again!!!!

Well, Katie is now up, and she is hungry, so I'm going to get her some breakfast.

Have a good day everyone!!!

Morning..

HERSEY - good luck with the car.. i hope the dealer treats you well and fixes the problem without it costing an arm and leg.. tell Alex that I am glad that he is done with the constitution test.. hope he did well on it..

SLO :grouphug:

Tiggerrn2 and CarolAnnC glad you are feeling better.

Slo ~ Thank goodness for great doctors. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it does not get any worse.

Happy late night everyone! :flower3: I'm not usually on late at night but just got home from a wonderful evening of good music. One of the choirs and the jazz orchestra from the college i went to is on tour and performed at my old high school. The choir director at my HS is Luther (the college) alum as is another choir director in our district and a science teacher in the district. My former band director was there too. About the second song in, i realized the 3 most influential people in my music life are all in the same room. I started to tear up a bit. The whole concert was great. We all went out afterwards and it was so nice to hear stories of when they went to Luther and hear names that are familiar. It was a lovely evening.

ALSO, before the concert, Mike and I went to grab a bite to eat and I noticed they are opening a Lou Malnati's, right here in Tinley Park!!!! I was very excited because I have heard such wonderful things about Lou's from everyone around here. I've never been so I'm looking forward to it. For those of you in the area, it will be in the little strip mall-esque area at 171 and LaGrange Rd, two doors down from the CharleyHorse restaurant. Frankie's, the Italian place Mike and I like, is also in that strip.

Slo ~ :wizard: lots of PD for Katie. So glad the doctor was able to see her. Hope you are feeling a bit better too!

Thanks all for your kind thoughts about my Katie:goodvibes
She has not become sicker - thank God for that!!!!! But it's hard for me to know if she's any "better". I never heard the weezing in her lung to begin with (I never can hear weezing - this is not the first time Katie has had weezing) and the ear infection snuck up on us like a snake in the grass. I'm thinking she's getting better because she's not coughing as much, she hasn't run a fever, her nose isn't running as much, she did mention her ear is still hurting last night, but she wasn't crying when she said it, like last time, so that's a good thing. I'm going to have Kevin listen to her lungs today, and see what he thinks. The Doctor said for Kevin to keep an ear open this weekend, because he has a stethescope, and is an EMT - so we'll see what he hears later.

Today will be a long day though, because Katie was upset she couldn't play outside yesterday, and she'll be even more upset today. She feels Stephanie should stay inside too, but I can't make Stephanie stay inside - so we are going to have many many tears later this afternoon - I"m not looking forward to that at all :sad2:

I'm going to take advantage of staying in today with cleaning the house and putting up our Easter decorations. I also am going to go through some things in the attic to get ready for the garage sale I"m having in May. So, this day should be very productive:thumbsup2

HERSEY - I hope your car repairs are minimal:wizard: Keep us posted on how that goes.
**I hope Alex did well on his test :wizard:

DG - I'm so glad you had a good night last night:goodvibes
**I'm feeling a bit better, but not 100% - thanks!!!!:goodvibes

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, I must get going and give Katie her inhaler - she doesn't like it at all. :sad2: She said it makes her tongue taste bad, but she's a trooper, and takes it w/o a fight, which I'm grateful for!!!
Have a good day!!!

Hi all. Slow day here today.
Slo, sure hope Katie is better quickly.
Hersey, hope that car is fixed for cheap!! How did your DS do on his test?
Carol, glad to hear you are on the mend.
This was a lovely weather weekend. Took the kids for a bike ride yesterday and to the park to play. (oh, and the dog, too). Kellie has :dance3: til 8 tonight. She will be pooped when she gets home. I am waiting for DS to finish playing Wii Smash Bros. so I can play Indiana Jones Legos. I had a baby shower to go to earlier today. I just love seeing what presents friends get for their babies. So many neat new things out now (not that it makes me want any more little babies mind you.:scared: )
Well, off to see if DS game is done yet.
Hope you have all had a great day!! And that everyone is out enjoying the nice weather!

for your enjoyment chicagoland homies........

Hi everyone! Weekend went by too fast! I worked Fri and Sat. nights and spent today in Chicago. It was my gpa's 91st bday, so well all went to his house for brunch. we then went through some of my gma's things, like jewelry and stuff. It wasn't too bad and my gpa seemed like he was in a pretty good mood, all things considered. It really cheers him up to have the kids over and see them play. I just wish we lived closer. It is almost a 5 hour round trip for us. Anyway, I spent the evening doing homework and am now killing time until midnight when registration opens up for fall.
slo- Glad Katie is on the mend! Sounds like you caught it just in time. We just need some warm weather. I am tired of these illnesses!
mac- Thanks for the listings.I have DVR now, so I watch them all. DS and I just watched the behind the scenes at AK the other morning.
Tig- I swear baby stuff progresses faster than cellphones and pcs! They have all these amazing gadgets thatI didn't have just 8 years ago!
DGal- Never been to Frankie's but am familiar with the area. Is it a sit down, nice place?
ID- We're stuck going to Epcot that day, since it is dd's actual bday. We'll be in MK the day before. My mom and sister are coming down for a quick trip,so it's a MK/Epcot weekend for us. We'll have to try to meet up. That'd be cool! Oh, and that dog next door situation sounds crazy!
Bunchkin- Long time, no see. So sorry to hear about MIL.

[Kim How are you and your family. It is almost another school year down.
Hi Hersey ;) and All!~ This school year can't finish soon enough! Kelly has an inadequate, 1st time teacher. Ugh. The class (and parents) corrected her Multiple times! :teacher:

Kelly & I have been sick, as well as many others here. I think I'm getting better, after 1-1/2 weeks, and Kelly, who was home sick M-W, seems to be having a re-lapse! She wants to do too much, and I tie her down when she's sick, really I do!, but she just thinks she's ready to go all the time! She's in the 3 S's, I call it, right now - Skating, soccer and softball. Besides Girl Scouts and Band (3 times/week). I HAVE to STOP this madness! :scared:

Sending TONS of pixiedust: to all those who are sick, recovering, in need, etc.!!

COME ON SPRING! :flower1: :daisy: :flower2: :rose: :dogdance:

Katie was crabby most of the day yesterday because she couldn't play outside:mad: (that face is hers) I guess I can't blame her - it was beautiful outside :sunny: I tried keeping her mind off Stephanie being outside, but it wasn't easy:sad2: I was so glad when it was time for Stephanie to come in, so I didn't have to hear about it anymore :upsidedow

Katie is getting better all the time, which makes me so grateful!!!!:woohoo:
She is suppossed to go to daycare tomorrow, but I'm going to keep her with me - I really don't want her running around outside and getting sweated up and catching a chill. She'll be so happy about that - she loves going to work with me:banana:

Yesterday I didn't any cleaning done, which was a bummer, but I did get other things done. I got up in the attic and went through some boxes, and tagged and boxed more things for the garage sale. I decorated for Easter - the most I've decorated in years. I found more Easter decorations in the attic, that I haven't seen since we moved 4 years ago. Normally Kevin goes in the attic, but it's easier for me to do it, and I've been finding tons of stuff since I've been going up there. So the house is very springy and Eastery looking - it's great!!! :flower:

I take Stephanie tonight to the ENT again to get the true results of her hearing test, and see what he says about a 3rd surgery. 50% of me hopes for the surgery and the other 50% doesn't hope for the surgery. I"ll let you know tomorrow what he says.

TTTTiiigggernnnnn - I enjoy baby showers too ::yes:: They are alot more fun than wedding showers IMO.
**I'm glad you are feeling better :)

Mac - Thanks for the listings!!!!

paint - Happy birthday to your grandpa :cake: It sounds like you had a nice weekend with him. Did you take any of your grandma's jewelry? I have alot of my grandma's old jewelry and I absolulty love it!!!! I love knowing that I'm wearing something that she used to wear - it helps me feel like she's not completely gone.

Kim - Wow, Kelly is a busy girl!!!!! :faint: I hope you all start feeling better soon!!!:wizard:

Well, I need to get Steph up for school - have a good day today everyone!!
