Good Morning Everyone! I have an update on my shirts I made my nephews. I found 2 shirts at target in their correct sizes. They are tshirt-esque... they are solid red cotton shirts with 3 buttons on them sort of like a henley but i used them anyway. I finished them last night and I'm so happy with how they turned out! It would have been better if the buttons weren't there but oh well... as soon as i get some pics i will post them!

Slo ~ to Katie! I used to love Legos! they are great! i think my dad still has some of my creations i made him way back when still on his workbench!

Bunchkin ~ hope DS had a better day after you saw him. Hope today goes even better!

Tiggern ~ hope the packing goes well. i always get stressed about packing. everyone laughs at me b/c i'm one of those people who will bring enough clothes to last me through a season change

Hi gang! Thanks for the bday wishes for ds. The menu is planned, we have more guests coming than I originally thought, and the cake is ordered. Now, if only it doesn't rain on Saturday,

I watched ds go off to the school bus this morning for the 7th first day of school and realized I only have 5 more 1st days of school! Where is the time going? He really didn't want me to take his 1st day of school picture! I have been taking them by the same tree since Kindergarten.

Mac - Happy Belated Birthday! Way to go on rolling along on your list of things to get done!

Slo - Happy Birthday to Katie! I hope Stephanie has a good first day of school. What Marathon are you planning on walking? I told dh and ds I wanted to walk in a Disney marathon -don't know which one yet! They told me to go for it but I better get busy!

Paint - a trip with the kiddos next summer sounds great! I hope it works out for you. It sounds like dh was "bit by the Mouse" as we say at our house.

I can't possibly catch up!!! I miss you all, I read often, I just don't post.

My Aunt passed away last week, 57yo. Memorial was Monday.

My Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer this summer, had the cancer removed, and will begin radiation soon.

Enough bad news? I think so!

Oh wait - 1 more - SCHOOL STARTS NEXT WEEK!!! I'm NOT READY!! Another summer too short!!! I go back to work 9/3. < that's actually GOOD NEWS, that I have a job, again!! Just part-time, but enough.

We have been very busy this summer! As usual! As you ALL have been, too!!

1st - Kelly is going to be a Chicago Cubs Celebrity Batkid next Friday, the 29th! It probably WON'T be on TV tho , because the broadcast that day isn't on WGN, but it's a THRILL nonetheless! We have to be there at 10AM for a 1:20 game! All her 'duties' happen before the game. She gets to go IN THE DUGOUT and watch batting practice. She gets a jersey, cap, certificate and autographed baseball. Her name will be announced on the PA, and her name will show on the scoreboard. The day can not get here soon enough - for me!! EVERYONE at school registration was SOOO excited for her, even her White Sox-fan Principal! I quizzed her on players, and she knew all but 2 coaches - by face, number and name! I'm soo proud!

She was also busy this summer finishing softball, and taking ice skating and clarinet lessons. To name a few.

We went to Starved Rock, IL (with brother and family), Wis Dells, WI twice (taking my DN as well), and several Cubs games so far (most with DN also!), as well as Six Flags Great America and Kiddieland amusement parks.

We had Girl Scouts, block parties, picnics, and wakes/funerals to attend as well. When Kelly saw a 'blank' day on the calendar, she always asked, "what are we doing tomorrow?". Sometimes, rarely, I actually said "NOTHING"! Which really meant laundry , shopping, NAPPING, etc.

And Matt had 2 Big Screen movie showings so far! His first movie won 4 awards!! The 2nd, we don't know results yet. The thrill of seeing your son's name as DIRECTOR on the BIG SCREEN tho, brought tears to my eyes each time! He also filmed a movie this summer at Kelly's school, with Kelly as an 'actress'. She ALMOST gets hit by a car, when the lame crossing guard 'saves' her. It took several hours just to film that one part. My niece, also did a cameo in another movie of Matt's. He has been very busy this summer. He also attended the Chicago film premiere of Dark Knight, as part of his school being a sponsor for the night - he was 'working it'. He got to attend the Red Carpet arrivals, 'direct' the interviews of the stars, etc. He was THRILLED! That is a BRIEF summary of our summer.

Back to school next week.

The upcoming activities include band, ice skating, Girl Scouts and Cross Country for Kelly - for the 1st quarter. Matt will get 2 weeks off before going back to school in early/mid Sept. I'm sure he'll work at the theater when he's not in school.

Thanks everyone for your Happy Birthday wishes for Katie
She had a good day!!!! She made a last minute change for her birthday dinner - she wanted TGI Fridays. The servers sang to her, and gave her ice cream - she thought that was great!!!!!! Then we went to ToysRUs, so she could pick out some LEGOS - those things are expensive!!!!! She really likes her LEGO table, and is excited to play with her new birthday present this weekend


TTTTTiiigernnnnnnn - That's nice that your kids start school later - I think all kids should Stephanie had a good first day, and seems to like her teacher. She doesn't have a lot of her friends in her class, which she is a little bummed out about, but I'm happy about it, because then she'll pay attention more.

paint - I understand how hard it is to get back in the swing of things after a grown up trip to The World. That's how I felt too, after I came home from our grown up trip in January 07 .
**I tried an eliptical machine in Dicks Sporting Goods, and I didn't like it to much I think I would get very bored on it, plus, I didn't love that I have to use those arm things. I'm sure I would get used to if I used it more than a couple of seconds, and if I was really working out - this was just a quick trial in the store.

DG - Your shirts are awesome!!!!!! I need to learn how to do that!!!

momto1 - Happy Birthday to your DS arty: I hope he has a great party this weekend!!!
**I've ALWAYS wanted to run the Disney Marathon. I've had many challenges getting there though. When I was running alot (training for a marathon), I had to have my Gall Bladder taken out unexpectadely. When I recovered from that, I found out that I have heal spurs (1 in each foot), and 2 broken bones (1 in each foot that doesn't heal), that I get treated to this day, and I was told by my doctors to not run anymore, and I should only ride my bike (this was devostating). Then I had the girls, and when I started working out again last spring, I found out about my bad knees, and started having physical therapy for that. When I recovered from that (maybe 50%) I found out about my bad neck being worse than normal, and here I am now. I will walk that marathon someday, and I will cross the finish line, and when I do, it will be an emotional, proud day for me, because I would have gone through alot to get there!!!!!

Well, I'm off to go walking this morning. I haven't walked since Monday, because of that terrible headache that I had, and then yesterday, I needed to leave the house early, so today I need to sweat a little (especially after my meal and dessert last night )

Good Friday Afternoon my chicagoland homies! i'm a little late on my post b/c i had to come in to work early to stuff envelopes for a giant mailing. I'm so glad it's friday!

Slo ~ thanks for the compliments on the shirts. The DISign board is great! I have been playing around on photoshop for quite sometime and when i saw i could make a T-Shirt i got all excited. If you have any questions the folks over there are great for helping out. I couldn't get an idea i liked for Drew's so I asked for ideas and someone posted the mickey head... it was perfect! Alex's i did all by myself though! I was quite proud with how it turned out for a first timer!

i fell off an eliptical once (then again only I could fall off one) ... vowed never again... treadmills and bikes it is for me!

Kim ~ I'm so sorry to hear about the rough summer you have had. I will keep your family in my prayers.

It's so exciting for Kelly to have such a wonderful opportunity! Hopefully you can get some great pictures!

Afternoon all. No rest day today. Spent the majority of yesterday at the Dept. of Motor Vehicles trying to get my plates. Long story. Then on to work for my meeting and visited DH aunt who still is in rehab at my hospital. So, by the time I got home, dinner, kids' baths, bed, ....... Packing never happened.
So packing like mad today. Hope I don't forget anything in the rush. I ordered a basket of goodies to greet my niece and her husband on our arrival to start out the trip. They just learned that once again she is not pregnant. They have been trying for over a year. So I know they will be a little disappointed at the start of our trip. Hoping to cheer them up a bit.
Got the chargers, the batteries, camera, camcorder, swimwear, clothes, light jackets (for the restaurants and buses-DD freezes easy). Guess it's down to the toiletries and carry-on choices.
The clock is really ticking now.

KimRaye, nice to hear from you. Sorry about your aunt and your mom. We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Great job to your son. What a talent!! Would love to have a career goal that looks to be fun and exciting.
And congrats to your DD. She will totally have a great time with the Cubs!!

i haven't been posting much here as everytime i say something about myself, it is reposted by a reader here on a different thread.

i have always felt so safe and secure and loved on this thread in the past years i have been on it.
since summer began, one gal reads this chgo thread and then repeats what i say, or what i am doing, on another thread. i see it this way, if i wanted what i posted on this thread to be shared on another board, i would have done that myself in the first place.

i share on this thread like the rest of you do because i trust all of you and want to let you all know i am here for you too.

now i don't mind anyone saying mac is going on vacation on these dates or mac is doing the mnsshp or stuff like that.
that type of stuff is public knowledge, it's a disney board here....!!

now that i have addressed the issue, i hope it stops.

i would like to do more than the weekly tv disney listings.
now i have to go back and play ketchup

My blinds and shades are all installed, and they're nice. I also bought a bookcase from Sauder for my photo albums, and my dad put it together today. So now I just need to put in the adjustable shelves as I put in the albums. I'm excited!

We've been so busy here. And right now I'm beat. I'll be heading to bed soon!


I've come to the conclusion that DS was upset the other day on the bus going to school and then again on his way home due to it just being the first day of school. He told me that he missed me.
Second day of school, yesterday, was an improvment. Well, other than some boy in his class telling him he was a baby and was wearing baby shoes!!?? The things some kids say!!! In fact, I just bought DS a new pair of Sketcher Z straps and he's totally thrilled with them.
Anywhooooo..Today was an even better day.
He seems to be adjusting just fine to going to school all day. And loves the fact that he can get hot lunch and 2 recesses!!


DD is loving school too. She has a great teacher, even though he's a Sox fan!! But I won't hold that against him.
Found out from her principal on Wed. she qualifies for the gifted program in the school district as she is in the upper 5% of the district academically. Yeah for her!! But she has already been in the accelerated classes as of last year, 4th grade, when they start to offer them. I'm hoping she qualifies for the Presidential Award of Academic Excellence.



Kim I'm so sorry to hear about your mom and her cancer and of your aunt's passing. DH's mom had a rough bout with bladder cancer so I understand what your family is going through right now.

You guys sound so busy! I don't know how you manage!
And, I don't mind if you repeat yourself!!

That's a shame you have to stop running, but if it's the best way to avoid pain than it must be done. I have a friend who bought an eliptcal to loose weight so she didn't have to go to the gym. She lost the weight AND part of the skin on her thumb on the handles of the arm things on the machine!!!! She used it so often that she was doing damage to her hands.

I guess I better get used to it, because it's going to be happening all the time now I haven't had any luck with getting in applications, and the friends DD never came in (apparently she doesn't want to work at my store ). Oh well, hopefully a perfect person will come in soon.

Sounds like Fay is finally moving I hope Tiggg is able to get the good kind of "water view" not just of Fay's leftovers. Have a great trip and short lines.

dgal- How'd you almost fall off an elliptical?!? Treadmills are another story...I must look straight ahead, at nothing or a t.v.- I take a quick sideways glance and get wobbly!
slo- I love the elliptical! My upper body is stable enough (if I don't use the arm things) to read. Otherwise, I watch t.v.! That is cool about the WDW marathon. I would love totrain for that, but I wish someone who lived nearby would train, too. Dh isn't much of a runner. He has bad ankles.
KimRaye- Wow! You've been busy! Congrats to your dcs and for your mom!
mac- I'm confused...what do you say onhere that gets reposted? Not that I expect you to answer that, but did I miss something controversial are super, duper exciting that you said? Just seems like regular 'ol stuff we all post about. Hope it stops!

I finally got Alex to do a little clothes shopping yesterday. We went to Old Navy they were having a great sale to bad everyone else in the state was there too. We met up with Nicole and her kids. Thanks for staking out a place in line ala WDW

Leigh Some people have this misguided idea that kids need to be older to enjoy Disney . Good luck there is nothing like seeing the kids enjoy the parks.

Mac I hope the person that is reposting your plans stops it. We all like to think we are safe here to say things that won't be repeated even on other threads. We all need to respect that.

I hope everyone is able to enjoy the day today it looks like it is going to be a good one.
