Calling all Chicago DISers #2

After looking back at my WDW times with my Chiro, we came to the conclusion that RnRC and ToT both gave me migraines, because of the way they shake my neck (the last time I was at MGM, I had a migraine when we left, and I couldn't stay with the family at Whispering Canyon, I had to sit in the lobby with my eyes shut, while they ate their dinner).

You're probably going to need to avoid Expedition Everest also. The only thing I remember about the ride is how much is jostled me side to side, like Star Tours does.

Hey all!!
Down to 8 days now!!! Getting a little worried. I don't have anything together yet. Except the grocery stuff. At least we can eat.:rotfl:
Paint, welcome home!!! Sorry you had a bummer beginning. Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip.
Bunchkin, I think it is wonderful that Tony would be willing to renew vows at Disney with you.
Slo, hope you have a nice relaxing day today. We ran some errands earlier and I gave Tiggs a bath. Now it is time to wash the new van. Lots of bugs on it already.
Crissup, glad to know you are healing well and hopefully will have no trouble with the tooth hole.
Mbeds, how are things coming at your house? I hope you get a good adjustor rate.
Hi Hersey. How's the end of your summer rating? We aren't having much of a summer anymore it doesn't seem. Glad I am going to a warm ending and get to use a pool for a bit before we really have to give up on it for the year. I feel my SAD returning and it isn't even fall yet.:guilty:
Hi to everyone else. Hope you all have a great weekend!! It is beautiful outside today.
Anyone enjoying the Air and Water Show today?!

Slo- We were as ASMO. When I booked, many resorts were full already, including my first choice (CSR). Asmo was my second to last choice, only over ASMu.

So, our first day had to begin late, since there was no way we could have gotten up early. We went to Epcot to explore WS at a leisurely pace. We at Tangerine Cafe and had thewonderful Grey Goose and Grand Mariner slushies. They were so good and refreshing. We had dinner at CR and then later got in line for TT. The CMs saw our "Just Married" buttons and let us to the front of the line througha side door. Then they let us ride twice in a row!
Oh, almost forgot dh's suprise to me that morning...when we got married, theykept telling us to get a band forboth sides of the engagement ring to create a wrap. We just couldn't afford it with all of the wedding expenses. So, that morning in the bus line, dh gave me a suprise- he pulled a ring box from his pocket. He had gotten the other ring. He had planned to give it to me at CR, but I had made him carry ponchos in his pockets and he did not have room- it was too uncomfortable!

Well, have to go to work. I am tentatively planning a Dec. trip with two of my sisters...so I need to go make some money!

Also, if you get a chance, check out my pics on the "food porn" thread. There are several pages!

Paint Wonderful pic's thank you for the link.

Tiggggg Our summer I am afraid to say has just about passed us by. I have just finished refinding my yard again. I have fed a few more mosquito's.
I think I was waiting for our vacation to come so the beginning of summer flew by. I hope your vacation is relaxing and that you have great weather.

I'm tired. I've been cleaning out my basement, trying to clear a path for the shade installers on Monday. :sad2: I made a lot of progress. I got most of my Christmas stuff over in the corner, and moved my picture boxes to my shelves. (They were in front of the window.) I pulled one of the temporary shades off a window, and it doesn't seem like it will be that hard.

I'm so glad I have Monday off! Although I can't say that this week was very taxing. We had our company picnic on Wednesday, so we only worked a half day. (But the picnic exhausted me. :lmao: I think it was a combination of the fresh air and trying (trying being the operative word) to help my friend with her nearly 2yo twin girls. They don't know me, so they wouldn't hold my hand or let me pick them up. She was so relieved when her husband got there! :thumbsup2 ) Then we got out of work early yesterday. I complained a couple of weeks ago when some people in my department were getting dismissed early while others of us weren't. So the last two weeks we've gotten out at 3:30pm. :thumbsup2

I did see a little of the Air & Water Show, but only what I could see from my office. I saw 6 planes practicing on Thursday, and then I saw 3 planes yesterday trailing red smoke out of them. But that was it. I heard a lot more, though!

it's saturday and a few minutes to midnight.

have decided to start cleaning my dump here......

mr mac on a canoe trip in Mn and will be back next weekend.

i figure if i start the heavy duty cleaning now, i might be done by next week.

you know, i should just take care of things in the house as they happen.

caught up on the cliff notes here.

hello to everyone and hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

did you hear about hurricane Faye?

Poor Sophie is sick today :guilty:
She woke up this morning with both diaharea and vomiting:guilty:
This makes me nervous, because she is so little, that she could dehydrate very easily. I did give her 1 grape, which I found out later is dangerous for dogs, but it was just 1, so I don't if that's it. I then gave her part of a Dentabone, which I saw on the package, this morning, in very small print, that it's not for puppies, so I don't know:confused3 All I know, is that I don't like seeing her this way.

Katie is still not 100% either, and I have a feeling I'm taking her to the doctor tomorrow:guilty: She still has no fever, but talks like someone is pinching her nose, and is still complaining of a sore throat. She is also not acting like herself - not alot of energy. Poor thing!!!!:guilty:

To all that are waiting for Meet photos, I'm sorry I haven't posted them yet - I can't find my cord that connects my camera to the computer. I know it's somewhere, and when I find it, I will post those - again I'm sorry!!!!!:guilty:

Crissup - How are you feeling today?
*I'm nervous about EE too, but I really want to try it, so I don't know what I'll do:confused:

Tiggggggggggern - Good luck with your packing:wizard: How exciting!!!!

paint - That's awesome about the ring :goodvibes Your DH sounds like a great guy!!!!

HERSEY - :wave2:

Leigh - Have a great day off tomorrow!!!!:)

Mac - I hope Mr. Mac has a good trip :)

Well, I gotta run - sorry this is so brief.
I've been looking up info, online, about how to take care of Sophie
Have a good day!!!!

I did give her 1 grape, which I found out later is dangerous for dogs

Crissup - How are you feeling today?
*I'm nervous about EE too, but I really want to try it, so I don't know what I'll do

I believe the main problem with dogs and grapes is that if they swallow it whole, it can get caught in their intestines. We've got a little Maltese Shih Tzu crossbreed that's only 8lbs. She *loves* raw green veggies. For treats, we buy her green beans or baby carrots. She goes nuts for them. I found on the maltese forum that a lot of people give their little maltese raw veggies for treats.

I was nervous about Expedition Everest, but after riding it, I found it more of a ride that just bounced me around and less of a fun, exciting ride. Obviously, you may feel very differently about it. Of course, my biggest problem (no pun intended) is that I don't always fit in the ride vehicles very well. In the case of EE, I fit fine, but my knees were squeezed together between the safety bar.

The tooth (hole) is getting better. I'll be very happy when I can eat again without having to worry about food getting shoved up in there. Thanks for asking. :)

Slo A little bit of rice and boiled hamburger helps clear up the diarrhea in dogs. Hope Sophie and Katie both fell better soon  Don't worry about the pic's I'm sure you put that cord in a safe place. That makes me wonder what I did with mine.

Yesterday I got quite a bit done around here my yard finally looks like people actually live here.;) The inside of my house is still clean too.:yay:

Mac You pick some strange times to clean. No good tv?

Hey, all...

we went to the Air & Water show yesterday. Never gone before, Mark really wanted to go, I was ehhh. Well, he just loved it & I still am ehhh. I would much, much rather see the highlights on the tv, or even the videos that Mark took that fight all the crowds to see the planes overhead. The best part was the Blue Angels, which came at the very end of the day. Also, I honestly thought there would be more *water* to the Air & Water show (we got there around 11 am and saw no boats, ski shows, nothing...so I was disappointed with that). Lots and lots of "commuting" to get to where we needed to be...train <packed, I've never seen it so crowded, in fact, they added a 2nd train on our line, and the one we were on was an express right to Chicago, no more stops after where we got on>, bus to the North Ave side, then walking to the beach, then we decided to hike on over to Navy Pier for lunch, then watched the Blue Angels from there, and then hiked back to a place where we picked up a cab for the ride back to the train, which was again packed, again an express train. It was something to experience, I guess, once, and it was a gorgeous day, so that part was great, & the lake was beautiful. I did have to laugh, though, I noticed that I was not the only woman not overly impressed with the whole event...almost ALL of the men I saw were taking pictures or videos and stuff, and the women were mostly ehhh...I saw several just sitting in chairs reading books!

Hope you all enjoy what's left of this weekend...looks like it's going to be another nice summer day!

Hi all!

I have a blister on my hand from sharpening pencils for the kids!!! The electric sharpener, which is older then DD, gave up after 5 pencils. I guess it's time for a new one. :rolleyes1
And I've written the kids names so many times on all their school supplies that now I have writer's cramp!! ;)
Kids start on Wed with a half day.

Hersey Glad you got to the yard and those new 'trees' you planted! ;)

slo Sorry to hear that Katie......and Sophie......is sick.
Now bites on the house, but I'm not in any rush. One person in our subdivision who has the same model as us is practically giving his house away!!! He's lowered his price WAAAYYY too low! :sad2: This just hurts the rest of us trying to sell in the subdivision.

Donna We've been to the Air and Water Show before, when Lauren was just a toddler. Obviously we have been in no hurry to return.
We didn't see anything water wise either.

momto1 Don't be upset for not making it to GA this year. We just took the kids there for the FIRST time!!! :rolleyes1 I and DH hadn't been there since '92!!!!

mac So when do you sleep if you clean in the middle of the night? :upsidedow

Well, we are back to normal bedtime schedules here, so it's time to tuck the kids into bed!!!

Ciao!! :wave2:

Fisher provides the voice of Angela, Peter's boss at the Pawtucket
Brewery. (TVKirby note - This show is on late at night for a reason!
Rude and Crude and I was laughing out loud when Stewie fufills the old
Jungle Cruise joke and gets chained and forced to sing in the
attraction that approximates "small world" in the Family Guy universe
version of WDW.)

This show will repeat

Mac You pick some strange times to clean. No good tv?

i clean when the mood hits me..........:rolleyes1

and it was so nice for it to hit at midnight yesterday as i finally cleared off the dining room table and bedroom closet.

i love to clean when mr mac is gone.

i can do 3 jobs and switch off on them at my leisure.......

he just doesn't understand that.

Everyone is better here today - thank goodness!!!!!!:)
I took things very very slow with Sophie, and she never got sick again. I firmly believe that the bone I gave her was to blame. I don't think her little tummy could digest it :sad2: I'm thinking of calling Pedigree today and voicing a complaint about how their packaging sucks, and I never would have given this to Sophie if they would have printed "not suitable for puppies" larger.

Katie is still complaining of a slight sore throat, but she's not acting sick. She went in the pool yesterday, and ate pizza, so I do believe she is better. I think resting Friday and Saturday really helped her:thumbsup2

So, Stephanie goes back to school this week:teacher: It's been so nice having her home, and not having to fight about getting her out of the house, and having to do her homework. She still doesn't know who her teacher is, because the school keeps delaying it. They were suppossed to post it Friday after 3pm, and now they aren't posting it until today after 5pm - it's so frustrating:headache: I wonder what the big deal is:confused3

This is my first week w/o my college girl, and my last week with having my highschool girl with me all the time. Next week I'm going to be working alot:guilty: I love the store, but I don't like having to live there. Oh well, at least I can catch up on my reading while I"m there (we are slow at night) and maybe play my DS again a little.

Crissup - I'm glad your mouth is feeling better:)
**I did alot of reading about grapes and dogs, and I found out that grapes and especially raisens are very toxic for dogs. The raisens are worse, because the toxins are alot more in one raisen, than in one grape. I used to give my Shepherd grapes all the time, but he died in 2002, and I read online that grapes were found out to be bad in about 2003. The toxins in the grapes and raisens can cause renal failure if a dog eats to many. I guess one is not bad, but several are fatal:eek:

HERSEY - Can you use instant rice, or does it have to be normal rice? I don't need this anymore, but I would like to know for future reference. Also, how do you boil hamburger - I've never done this. Do you just literally put the meat in boiling water? If so, how long? How much do you give your dog? Is there a certain amount per size of the dog?

Donna - I feel like you about the air and water show. I would like to go, to say I went, but I'm not wanting to go, because I have a huge interest in planes and boats. I"m glad you had such nice weather when you went!! :sunny:

Bunchkin - That's a drag that the other person really lowered their price:guilty: The one good thing you have about your house is how it's on the end, and how a park, someday, will be built across the street. The future buyer doesn't need to know that you've been waiting for it to happen since you bought your house, they just need to know that it's going to happen;) .
**Your kids start a day earlier than Stephanie - she starts on Thursday.

Mac - I love to clean when everyone is gone too, because then I can turn up the music, and not be disturbed:thumbsup2
*Thanks for the listings!!!!!

Well, I'm off to walk off all the badness I ate this weekend
The one bad thing about sitting by the pool, is I eat way to much snacky food and ice cream - but I can't help it, I love doing that while sitting by the pool. I"m paying for it this morning - I woke up with terrible heartburn. I haven't had that since I was pregnant with Katie.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: we are back from Frankenmuth. It is such a nice little town. Our weekend away was just what we needed. Slo~there were quite a few kids we saw walking around with their parents. At the Taffy place they can see how it is made, the Cheese Haus was our favorite! There is a hotel that has a water park. There is probably more but we really didn't do much. Just walked up and down the street shopping and then hanging out watching the olympics. Way to go Michael Phelps!! I have the day off today but have to run some errands so this has to be a quick post! hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. :flower3:

Hi gang! I am so exhausted froms staying up late and watching the Olympics. But, I am really enjoying them. I hope this week is as exciting as last week.

Slo - I am glad to hear the Sophie and Katie are feeling better. Way to go to Stephanie for wanting to run cross country. When my ds told me he wanted to run cc, I was like "huh?" But, he likes it and is pretty good. I think the runs are 11/2 miles.

Paint - Loved the food pics. I am putting some of that on my list it looked so yummy!

School starts for ds starts Thursday. Locker set up is tomorrow. I can't believe it is the end of summer already. He is ready to go back, though, so that is good.

Have a good one!
Lori

Hi al!!

Today I woke up thinking it was Tuesday!! So I started doing one of my normal Tuesday household chores of changing the kid's sheets. I tell DD she shouldn't have made her bed as I'm taking off her sheets and DD says "uh, mom, it's Monday". :rolleyes1 :headache: DH has been working 7 days a week and I've been loosing track of time and have no clue what day it is anymore!!! :headache:

Washed the car today with the kids, well, they helped a little.
Then I totally cleaned it in the inside too. I love a clean car!!!! :goodvibes

momto1 What grade is your son in that he gets a locker?

disneygal Your trip sounds like it was nice and relaxing.

paint Sorry you had so many problems with your resort room. That was really sweet of your DH to get you that other ring!! :lovestruc

slo I hope Katie's throat feels better soon.
I can't believe Stephanie's school is dragging their feet with getting this info out to the parents.
I also like to play the stereo loud when I clean and no one is home!! ::yes::
This past spring I can remember a day when I was doing this and DH came come from work unexpectedly. I didn't hear him come in the house and he scared the 'you-know-what' out of me!!!!

Bunchkin, who's al?:rolleyes1
I couldn't resist. Thanks for the coupons. I think, unless we are dead beat tired from our vacation, we will join you and your family at Lego Discovery Center. We aren't ones to get together with family for Labor Day, so this sounds great!! Loved your stationary, too!! Thanks again.

Slo, we won't know til Friday at 5 who the kids have for teachers either, but mine aren't scheduled to start until the 27th. (Of course, we will be in WDW until the 30th-so mine get an extra few days off. ) I really dread the thought of lunch making and early rising (for me) every day once again.
Glad to hear your puppy is OK. I still don't give Tiggs those rawhide type bones or the chewies. He get diarrhea from those. I stick to the biscuit snack bones. Glad Katie seems to be OK.

Mac, I loved to clean the house in peace-never happens here anymore. So I don't clean.:rotfl2: :rolleyes1

Disneygal, glad to hear you enjoyed your weekend away. Did you make it to Bronners?

momto1, exactly what is locker set-up? Do the kids just go to find out where they are located and get their books and stuff?

Well, I had better get a move on. I want to look over my vacation schedule a bit and put it all down on 1 sheet of paper instead of many scraps. I plan to take the kids shopping tomorrow for school shoes and then send them to camp Wed. Thurs, and Fri. They have been begging to go all summer. This will give me those 3 days to :laundy: and pack for the trip. I have to work Saturday 12 hours, so I have to be all ready to go Friday. :scared1: Hope I can get it all together. Usually by now I have suitcases out and half packed (of course, we usually go when the weather is cool here and I can pack the summer clothes. Harder when you need to pack what people are wearing.)
Talk to you all tomorrow.

Hi guys! This weather has been so nice, warm but great. It's going to make going back to school harder though. Kids start the 27th, ds8 will be in the same spec. ed class so we know his teacher but the girls do not find out until their first day of school. It has always been that way, I'd like to know sooner but that's just the impatient side of me ;) .

We had a great time at Coco Key. The Clocktower Resort is in need of an update, kind of old and tired but the water park is great and wasn't crowded at all.

Got dd11s volleyball schedule today. She's not going to be happy but we'll be in Disney for their tourney, the trip is a suprise so she won't know for a while and won't be able to angst over it. I was hoping she'd only miss a game or two but no such luck, her team is finishing a week early this year :sad2: . I can't decide when to tell the coach though, should I wait a bit or let her know right off?

Bunchkin - glad you had a good day at GA. Taking a lunch is a great idea and must be a huge money saver!!
*Our Catholic school tuition went up to $5150 for two this year, nearly a 20% increase :scared: .

paint - Welcome Back! So sorry you had so many room issues, that really could have put a damper on the trip. I LOVED the food pics, yummy!
*So sweet of dh to get the ring as a surprise.

slo - glad to hear Katie and Sophie are feeling better.
*I hear ya on the wake-up and homework battles, not looking forward to that at all! DD6 is by far the worst, she only wants to do the bare minimum of work!
**My sister used to breed and show Wheaten Terriers, whenever she'd have a sick dog she'd brown some ground beef, drain well and mix with cooked instant rice. Sometimes I think she'd use plain unseasoned baked chicken too.

Leigh - I hope the shade install went well today!

mac - I usually get involved in some kind of project late at night, cleaning or organizing - lol. Too hard to get much done during the day with the kids under foot.

Donna - I haven't done the A&W show since high school. Must be something about getting older that I have no desire to fight the crowds. Back then I also did Venitian Night and the 4th fireworks, would never even attempt those anymore either. It sounds fun though!

Well, I think I might try and get to bed early. I always stay up too late when dh is out of town but I'm going to try and break that cycle this week. Lots to do getting the kids ready to go back to school so I need my sleep. Darn those Olympics, they conspire to keep me up :rotfl: .

Good Morning.
Sorry I haven't been on in so long. I think my computer is on it's last leg. I am out looking for a new one now.My internet works when it wants to, which is most of the time not working. The cable company tells me that the signal is too strong for the computer/modem. I figured I can put this one in the kids room for their games which slow my computer down anyway.

Kids got home on Saturday and I don't think I could hug them enough. I picked them up in Michigan City. We hit the outlet mall out there and did all their school clothes shopping. We were exhausted but finished.

I finally bought my car. I got a used one since I couldn't seem to find a dealer that would be straight with me. I went to Carmax and bought a 2004 Chevy Malibu LT Maxx. It is like a sea foam green and fully loaded. Only 26,000 miles. Drives great!

My leg on the other hand is still quite sore. At least when I wake up in the morning it is somewhat normal at least until I start walking on it.

Sunday, took the kids to Six Flags. They have an online offer of everyone pays $29.99. I haven't been there since I was a teenager (I think it might have been Marriott's then :rotfl2: ) It was very nice. Not too crowded. But I guess once you are use to WDW you can deal with anything.

DS starts school today. We spent last night finishing out his supply list. I was up until 9:30 labeling everything and packing things into his back pack. DD starts Kindergarten on Thursday. Today DD and I will meet the teacher around noon. She is sooooooooooooooo excited.

Well, I should get going. Almost time to start waking up the kiddies. Have a great day all. I hopefully get back on later.
