Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: Dad and I went to see Dark Knight on Saturday, OMG it was amazing! Other than that it was a pretty relaxing weekend for me! Just hung out watching the Olympics... LOVE THE OLYMPICS!!! :goodvibes A sister of a girl I graduated and was in band with won a silver medal in Swimming... she was really close to the gold but hey... it's the olympics any medal is amazing!! :) Well, we leave for Frankenmuth in 2 days and I still need to do laundry and pack... I was too lazy this weekend!

ID ~ sorry to hear about your vacation! hopefully, it will all work out!

Slo ~ I'll have to check out those books. Glad to hear your pics came out well! My dad was just saying that for Christmas he would like a pic of Me, Mike, Buddy (dad and my dog) Dsis1, kids, hubby and their Dog, and Dsis2 with hubby and dogs. So hopefully i'll be able to arrange it!

Bunchkin ~ my parents used to threaten me with the garbage thing too!

Everyone else ~ :wave2: have a wonderful day!

HI gang! :wave2:

Today was an open house day for the schools where you can take the kids in and they can find their room and look around. Not all the teachers are there though. DS's 1st grade teacher was there, which was great! He got to meet her and find his desk, coat hook and mail cubby. Then we took him around to show him where everything is. Then it was off to DD's school.
Then we went to lunch and ran into our neighbor friends there. :)

I'm thinking of trying Priceline for the very first time. Anyone used them before? I know a lot of people have. I usually try Hotwire, but I'm looking for a room downtown and the prices they have are just crazy high!! A neighbor told me she has gotten 4 star hotels downtown for only $49!!! WOW!!

slo Gosh, your weekend sounds so busy!!... but fun!!! :thumbsup2 We spent most of ours with our neighbors!! :)
Does your school district have decent registration fees? This has been a topic of discussion lately with my neighbors! Ours are so high!!

Hersey The kids start on next Wed, it's a half day at least.

mac A rake to clean!!!!! :rotfl2: Thanks for the listings!

irish dancer Wow, I would be peeved if they stuck us in a one bedroom and had offered an air mattress!!!!! I hope it all works out for you. And I'd point out to them their own occupancy rule!!! :thumbsup2 :)

Hi to everyone!

Hi guys! Well the fun never ends ;) . This morning I got another call from MS supervisor telling me I wouldn't have to move  . People are still being told the whole floor will be closed including the lounge :confused3 .

mac - I threaten with the garbage too, it might happen again tonight from the looks of the family room!

Bunchkin - glad ds got to meet his teacher and get the lay of the land. We don't start until the 27th.

slo - wow, busy weekend! Sometimes that can be fun but it makes the time go by so quickly.

Deirdre's pool party went great today, the weather really turned out beautiful. The girls had a great time in the pool and nearly everyone from their class was able to come. I was suprised how uncrowded it was, other than our 24 kids there were probably only around 15 other kids in the pool.

Tomorrow is volleyball tryouts for Mairead and then practices start Wed. She hasn't played in a long time, she's going to be rusty.

Well Deirdre is bugging me to get off the computer so she can play with her new Webkinz. She got the goldfish (too cute), bluebird and cocker spaniel.

Have a great night everyone! :flower3:

:surfweb:

Not much new to report:sad2:
I went to a wake last night for a friends dad, and their DD, who I've known a long time, is looking for a job, and she asked if she could come work for me. She likes the hours she would be working, and she likes the amount of hours she would be working. I'm a little nervous hiring a friends DD, because that could cause problems if the girl isn't a good employee, but at the same time, she could be an awesome employee, because she knows us. I'm a little confused on what to do, but I need to decide, because I need an employee NOW!!!! What do you all think?????

Mac - My friend has actually thrown her DD's things away too, and it worked great:thumbsup2 I couldn't actually throw things away, because it's me that bought most of it, and I just couldn't do it. I do throw the small crap away (happy meal toys, and stuff like that), and since Stephanie has seen me do that, she believes I'm serious about throwing the other stuff away;)

DG - I enjoy watching the Olympics too ::yes:: Did you watch the mens gymnastics last night? They were awesome!!!!!:)

Bunchkin - That's so nice about the open house. We won't find out Stephanie's teacher until Friday after 3pm (this is when they post it on the front door of the school). We can't go school supplies shopping, because some teachers require different things, and I'm not going shopping twice:sad2: To answer your question about school registration fee, it was $125 for Stephanie this year, which I don't think is bad at all - I think this was the least expensive year since she started:thumbsup2

ID - That's awesome news about not having to move from AKL:woohoo: That's very good news!!!
**I'm glad your DD's pool party was a success - how fun!!!!:cool1: Also good luck to her at volleyball tryouts today:wizard:

Well, I gotta run and workout - have a good day today!!!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: man, these olympics are killing my sleep habits! I've been staying up way past my bedtime b/c i can't seem to turn them off... i'm addicted!

Slo ~ those men were on fire! especially on the high bar! i was quite impressed!:goodvibes

Well, have a wonderful day everyone! :flower3: Enjoy this beautiful weather!

Morning everyone!!
Disneynut, sure hope you heal up and feel better soon.:wizard:
Registered my two for school yesterday. They have a new "system". Just follow the 2 simple steps, it's streamlined and will take no time at all.:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :crazy2: :faint: I was there for 2 hours waiting. There were hundreds of people there to register in the morning. I should've just left and went another day, but I just wanted to get things over with. Last week they had new student registration and the lady said, "It went so smooth." Well, yeah, you have maybe up to 500 new students to the district vs. over 4500 returning students (this is returning student week registration). Where do they get these people with these "great" ideas?! I swear, managers and higher-ups do not have the brains God gave a goose!! They should have set days/times to register by Last names. Then people were getting upset because they showed up to registration, waited in line, but didn't have the right paperwork with them and were told they would have to get their proof of residency and then come back again. If people would only read their mail....:rolleyes1 Sort of like, check the kids' backpacks and make sure they do their homework, too.....:rolleyes1
Glad I got it done yesterday, though. Now I can spend the day today at my friends' relaxing in her pool.
Mac, thanks for the listings. Looks like I will have an enjoyable Saturday doing :laundy: and packing things up for the trip with the Disney ambiance in the background.:woohoo: Looks like summer is coming to an end around here as well. Not supposed to break the mid 80s at all this next week.:sad2: It will wait to hit the 90s again til all the kids are back to school.
It wasn't a very hot summer at all this year. Kids really didn't get much use of the pool. I think DH will probably let the water out while we are gone on vacation. They return to school when we come home, so not much use for the pool then.
Bunchkin, are you going to see Space Chimps this week? I think we will go on Thursday. Nice that Hunter got to meet his teacher and get oriented to his room. Mine will miss the Back-to-School barbaque and orientation. I already took the note to the school secretary to let them know my kids will be absent the first 3 days.
ID, glad the girls had a nice pool party. I would be upset, too, if my vacation plans were changed. Was this your first AKL stay? That would be even more upsetting if I was counting on staying somewhere and then couldn't.
Disneygal, pssst, you can catch the Olympics during waking hours on the internet. Just kidding.
Well, I had better get a move on my day. I want to get out and enjoy my friend's pool today.
Later all!!!

Tiggern ~ unfortunately I do not have FLASH or Media Player on my work computer so I can't watch anything but I can keep myself updated on other things... like the Dis:laughing:

Well hi there everyone :wave2: - LONG time no see -

I just signed on to the boards for the first time in a long time a few days ago -

Hope everybody is doing well -

I didn't realize how much i missed these forums until i got back -

Feels good -

Hi guys!!! :teeth:

The kids are so excited, we are taking them to Great America for the first time ever on Thursday. Me and my bum ticker will be looking to go on the tame rides!!

I haven't mentioned it yet but, there is some exciting news for us.
DH and I are making serious plans to do a vow renewal at WDW for our 15th wedding anniversary! We've got some time, but we want to be prepared with all the info we can get and how much it will cost. :thumbsup2 We've already looked into the basic info and I've now been looking at the wedding boards with all the vow renewal threads. It's so exciting all the info that's out there on things you can do...and it's a little overwhelming too. :goodvibes
We're not sure where we want to do the renewal yet, as in which location, but we do know we want a dessert party buffet at Fantasmic afterwards!!! :rotfl2: Food first, location second!! :rotfl:

slo $125 for school fees are not bad at all. Lauren was like $268 and Hunter was $250, if I remember right. Plus all the school supplies!!!! YIKES! Doesn't your school give out a list of what the class requires in school supplies ahead of time?

Tiggerrn We'll probably do Space Chimps tomorrow since we are going to Great America on Thurs.

irish dancer Glad you don't have to move from AKL!! Let's hope they stick with that now!!! ::yes::

Bunchkin ~ That is one reason I do not want to move back to New Lenox, the fees are more than double what I pay here in Mokena. $110 for each kid and $250 covered Kevin's first year of high school, yearbook included.

Started at Hanna Andersson yesterday, and go back tonight too. Love it so far.

so this is a silly question but normally i try NOT to shrink my clothes...:confused3 i am making my 2 adorable nephews shirts to wear to the one's first birthday party next week... which is mickey mouse themed! Let me add, obviously the youngest is a year old and roughly 20 pounds... the other will be 3 in october and i have no idea how much he weighs but i would guess average size of a 3 year old i suppose.... maybe a little tall. anywho, i went on a search for plain tshirts to use and all i could find was a small in youth sizes.... i think it might fit the 3 year old fine but is definitely WAAAAAAY too big for the 1 year old... any suggestions on how to shrink it? it's 50% cotton and 50% polyester...

Ok, how crazy would this be? I'm going to WDW Oct. 15-19. Now I've discovered that there's an awesome travel agent deal for DL through the end of October, one that would be really too good to pass up if it weren't for airfare. The DL part of it is just a great deal. So I told my friend, because she wants to take her kids to DL esp. (they've never been), or WDW (her DD went when she turned 4, but middle DS was baby and the youngest wasn't born). I would, of course, have to go with. Her DD has a fall break something like Oct. 22-24, so if they decide they can do it with the airfare, and there's availability, I could get back on the 19th, go to work for 2 days, and then go out to Cali for DL!

I get tired just thinking about it!

But I would do it, for the children. :rotfl:

Hi gang! Sorry I have been MIA for awhile but I have been reading and keeping track of all of you. I wrote a post yesterday, went to play with my ticker and "poof" it was gone!

DB and his family are in Disney now staying at the Pop. I think I officially have made the family Disney geek. He calls yesterday on his way from Daytona asking for directions to Disney! Huh? Don't you have a map? Do you think I know how to get to Disney from all parts of Florida? I told him to follow the signs on 4 and he couldn't miss it!

DS started band camp this week and then starts school on the 21st. Our registration was $108. I still have a few school supplies left to buy and might finish up tonight.

Getting ready to reserve a rental car for September trip. I am leaning toward Enterprise since it is about the best rate. But, I really like the convience of the on airport rental. What to do?

Sk8 - Definitely do it for the kids!!

Bunchkin - I think vow renewals would be great. Keep us posted.

Mbeds - Welcome back. Hope to get to know you better.

Everybody else - Hi!

Lori

You can always sleep on the plane. ;)

Bunchkin Your plans sound great. Have fun at Great America. Your school district charges alot for public education do you get a private teacher too.:rotfl:
I find it so interesting we pay soo much in taxes and still have to pay enrollment fees.:scared1:

are any of you homies going to six flags for the free jordin sparks concert?

if you were, i would meet up with you to chit chat some.

i am not a fan of miss sparks but would go to the park to meet and greet any of you homies.

Hello, Chicagoland...

Some of you know I have been looking (seems like forever) for that perfect little part-time job. Well, I started one this week...however, it's just a temporary part-time job. But, at least it's a start!:goodvibes

Those of you who pay school fees...having sent both our kids thru private schools, ..we paid taxes to the district, plus the private school fees...but, I do feel your pain!!!

Bunchkin...vow renewal would be so awesome...please keep us posted...congratulations on 15 years!

Sk8..yep, I say go for the trip. Sounds like a good time to me!

Disneygal...no clue how to shrink clothes! Good luck!

Slo..I would go ahead and offer the job, see how it works out, as you said, you need an employee now, and the timing seems to be just too perfect.

ID..how frustrating all around with the whole you are going to have to be moved, you are not going to have to be moved. UGH. Good luck to your volleyball player!

Mac..when is Jordin Sparks going to be at Great America? I actually didn't think she was too bad when she was on American Idol. However, no one...NO ONE.. can compete with my David, that would be David Cook!!! :rotfl:

Shout out to all, especially any lurkers...hope everyone has a great night!

Donna congrat's even if it's temporary. That's how I started at my present place it will be 8 years in October

:surfweb:

This is my last Wednesday off, because my college employee goes back to school this weekend:guilty: Stephanie is going to daycare today, because they are going on a great field trip that she doesn't want to miss, so it's just Katie and I:goodvibes I'm going to take her to lunch to Mc'D's and then I'm going to take her to the show (I don't know what we are seeing yet:confused: ). It should be a nice afternoon with just the 2 of us:goodvibes (I don't think this has ever happened, because Steph is always with us).

DG - Did you watch the girls Olympics last night? I DVR'd it for Stephanie and I to watch this weekend:)
**I know nothing about shrinking things - sorry!!!:guilty:
**Have fun on your weekend get-away tomorrow. I can hardly wait to hear all about it!!!!!:)

Tiigggernnnnnnnn - I agree on not being able to use the pool much this year. We have a heater, which is great for the kids, but not great for me when I'm floating on top of the water:laughing: So, I've had less time in the pool than the kids.

MBeds - Welcome back!!!! :wave2:
Did you get your son registered for school on Monday (for those that don't know, our kids go to school together, and have shared a couple of teachers together). Stephanie is very eager on Friday to see who her teacher is, and I'm eager, so we can go get her school supplies:thumbsup2

Bunchkin - That is awesome about renewing your vows at WDW:goodvibes Good luck planning your trip - how fun!!!!:yay:
**I do have a list on what to buy Steph, but the list says what some teachers want, and what some teachers don't want, so I decided to wait, so I don't have to go back and buy things at the last minute.
**Have fun at GA tomorrow - you'll have very nice weather!!!!:sunny:

piglet - I"m glad you're liking your new job!!!!:woohoo:

Leigh - Sounds like you will have a very fun October:cool1:

momto1 - Hi there!!! :wave2:
*What insturment does your son play? I hope he enjoys his band camp:)
*Are you going to the Halloween party on your trip?

Mac - :wave2:

Donna - Good luck with your new job!!!!:wizard:
**I agree about the employee situation - I think I will probably hire her ::yes::

HERSEY - When does Alex start school?

Well, I'm off to get walking - have a great day today!!!
