Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: Just a quick hello!

Sam ~ gas prices really do stink!!! :sad1: i am lucky b/c i take the train everyday to and from work, and i live only 2 miles from the station so i don't have to fill up as often... but when i do i nearly fall over from the amount i spend!

Slo ~ glad to hear you had a productive day! :goodvibes i wish i had time to clean out my closet and whatnot... :confused3

Hello to all my Chicago buddies! Just a quick check-in!

Wanted to let you all know that Brian's gf is doing really well. :goodvibes She continues to go to therapy and is still making progress each day. A great big thank you to all of you who have kept her and our family in your thoughts and prayers...it really does help!!!

My other "baby" is doing good out in a land that is far, far away. He still is loving his new job and I am so happy that he is "living the dream"!! :)

I hope everyone enjoys the weekend that is ahead of us, and hope the weather is as good as it is promised to be. I think we all need some warmth and sunshine! :cool1:

Please know I think of you all often...

Shout out to all!

.....
YIKES. I gotta get talked off this ledge!! :scared:

I told Megan this morning that we are going to enjoy this trip to Disney because I really fear it may be our last for a very very long time. Eeek! I almost feel that I should cancel this whole shebang and save the money.

Don't cancel! Just live your life. Can't life your life in fear.... and if this is the last trip for a long time.... you'd be so sorry you hadn't gone. Get off that ledge! We're all in the same boat, remember? :rotfl:

I took the drive the twice last year. It took me a day and a half with a stop overnight for sleep.

The kids and I love the drive. We stopped a few times to see the sights and sometimes a song will come on the radio that we heard quite a bit on the drive and it reminds us of the fun we had that trip.

Hey DisneyNut, I had to ask. Are the same DisneyNut on the Good Day Chicago chat room on FOX in the mornings?

You can't live in fear?? You don't know me! :lmao: You should have seen me during the bird flu media hysteria. Running around like a chicken with my head cut off! :rotfl: (I looked like that smilie -- just rolling around)

Sure I want to live my life, but the money I spent on this trip could pay for A LOT OF GAS. I'll tell ya, this will be the last trip I take to Disney for a long long while! Had a cruise in mind for next year... that's off the table for sure now!

Thanks for trying... :scared1:

Words of encouragement please...I just checked the weather forecast for my wedding day. Now, granted, it is still a bit away, but it says a 60% chance of t-storms. Not good! We were planning to have it outside! Do you think it is accurate this far off?

:rotfl: Not a chance! They're lucky to get the forecast right for the next 24hrs ;) . I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry until about 2 days before.

Yeah! Congrats!! What a relief. Kind of bad timing with the wedding and all but it'll be a load off your mind to have that covered. One less thing to worry about.

Paint How long have you lived in Chicago? I never listen to the weather more than 2-3 days out.

Hey :woohoo:

Sam I would sit down and think before cancelling your trip. Ask yourself why,are you using savings or credit, how comfortable am I spending this money. Are you going to put the money back in savings? Only you cananswer that question.

I alway stress over spending money.

it is unpredictable.
they base some of the long term weather on past history.

right now it is 45 degrees. wasn't like that last year at this time...

congrats on the new job !!

gas prices.........i'm sure mine is cheaper than cook county.
our prices went up late this afternoon to $4.16 a gallon for regular.

$4.16 for a gallon of regular at the BP station I visit. I am so close to actually pulling my bike out of storage and start using that to get to work. It'll take me 40 minutes to get to work instead of 20, but I may seriously have to start considering that option.

$4.16 in Central, IL, too. We are usually cheaper than the 'burbs, but it looks like we are the same as some of you!
Thanks for the job congrats! I think I will make excellent tips, but I think it will be pretty strict (not fun). Oh well.

I'm up really early this morning {{yawn!!}}
Kevin has to get up early to catch a plane for work, and I got up with him (it's always easier for him to get up and get going, if I"m up too :) ). It's actually a benefit for me to get up this early, because it gets me up earlier to walk, and I'll be able to do 4 miles today:thumbsup2

We had excitement at our house yesterday morning.
Remember how I said those goofballs were at our house until midnight the other night? Well, yesterday when I came in from putting STephanie on the bus, I could smell gas:eek: Obviously I got nervous, and I called Kevin at work. He told me to call the FD guys and have them bring out a meter. Well, you can't just call and ask that, it has to be a huge thing - lights and sirens:eek: I felt so silly - luckily I know them all :) They could smell the gas too ::yes:: and there was a gas leak. Nothing read on their meter, so they said that the gas wasn't enough for it to be dangerous, which was good, because I told them I wasn't in the mood to blow up today:rotfl: So they turned the gas off to the furnace, and then we visited for a couple of minutes and they left (this was at 8am). So, needless to say, the furnace peeps had to come back out last night, but luckily they didn't stay as long as last time, and I guess everything is fixed now:thumbsup2

What is everyone's plans for this Memorial Day weekend?
I'm going to finish my planting, so I'm really excited about that. I bought 2 more flats yesterday, and some vines. Most of the vines are Black--eyed Susan vines and I"m planting them in planters by the pool and hottub. I'm going to lead them up the deck railings so they cover those - it'll look pretty cool (fingers crossed).

Sam - I freak out about the gas prices everyday!!!!! ::yes:: Not only do I freak out because Kevin has to drive to Midway Airport area everyday (Bedford Park), and that's not cheap, but I also freak out about how this is affecting my business. If this keeps up, I"m going to go out of business, because people are not going to get custom picture frames, when gas is getting higher and higher. I"m not something that people have to have:sad2: While the gas executives are getting richer and richer, the small business owners are going to all be going out of business - it p***sses me off!!!!!!!!

DG - I don't drive far to work either, which is good, because it balances out with what Kevin spends having to drive to work everyday. My travel distance is less than a mile :thumbsup2

Donna - That is so awesome about Brian's girlfriend!!!!! The power of prayer is amazing!!!!! :goodvibes I'm also happy to hear about Christopher:) That is great news that he is doing well, and enjoying life!!!!:goodvibes

julez and Mike and ID - :wave2:

paint - Try and not worry about the weather  It changes 500 times before the actual day :rotfl:
**Hooray about the new job!!!! :cheer2: That is such awesome news!!!!:woohoo:

HERSEY - I always stress over spending money too ::yes::

Mac - Your gas is higher than mine  As of yesterday, it as $4.09:sad1:

Peter - If I didn't have to take Katie to daycare in the morning, and bring both STephanie and Katie home at night, I would definitly be riding my bike to work too. It would save on gas, and I could always use the extra exercise :thumbsup2

Well, I"m off to get ready for my walk
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Hersey- Lived in Il, Chicago area, my whole life. i know it changes, but I won't feel happy until I see a 0% chance of rain!
slo- I have a slight gas smell from time to time in my basement. The plumbers noticed it and told me it wasn't a big deal, but to have somebody come out and check it out. Haven't done it yet. So, if you never hear from me again, you'll know why...

So, I hate when I do this...ever agree to something and then regret it? I am kicking myself over agreeing to train the day of my rehearsal. I have family coming in, stuff to do, getting my hair done...what was I thinking? I am going to call the guy and tell him I have family coming in. Does that make me look bad? I mean, it is my wedding, for goodness sake?!?
I did about 10 favors last night, and omg, are they cute! Going to take me ofrever, though. My dsis is coming down this weekend to help.

Thank goodness its Friday & a long weekend!! :cool1:

When we moved in our house in July of '07, my mom wasn't feeling well for a few days.. and thought she smelled something. My husband had one of the firemen come over with the meter also and sure enough.. the dryer was leaking gas. We had to have Lowe's come back out and fix it! What made me mad was, they acted like it was no big deal... that it was leaking and my mom had been sick for few days cuz of it.

Looks like a gloomy day today in our area... i just hope the rest of the weekend is nice. Have a nice Memorial Day weekend everyone!

Happy Friday morning!!

Boy, this seemed like a long week. Glad it is finally over. It is getting so hard for all of us to focus on school, the kids are tired of homework and just want to play outside and I'm tired of the 6:30a alarm and lunches and homework. Only 5 1/2 days left to go!!

Sam - I can't even think of cancelling out Oct trip, ugh that would be so depressing. I'm just hoping things will turn around before then. I know it's minor but at least milk has come down in price (1.99 at Jewel this week).

mac - we're also between $4.14 and $4.19. Even my cheapie station which had still been at $3.95 the other day has gone up to $4.14 :sad2: . I just keep comforting myself with the knowledge that those in Europe have been paying this much and now a lot more than we have so it could be worse :confused3 .
*Do you have any of your ADRs booked for Oct? I think we've gotten everything we wanted.

slo - yikes, so glad you got that gas prob fixed. It would have freaked me out too.
*We're going to my BILs cabin in WI, it's just outside of Manitowoc. Bad news is that I checked their weather and it is not going to be as nice as it is here  .

paint - you should have that gas smell checked ASAP. Doesn't CommEd check those out immediately if you call?
*Training on the day before your wedding might be stressful. It wouldn't hurt to ask if you could do it another day, the worst they could say is no.

Well, I went to Target yesterday. Bad, bad store for me.....way too many tempting things. They had a ton of great things in the $1 spot. There were lots of Nemo and Aerial things (tatoos, crayons, lip gloss, snack baggies, etc), picked up a few things as suprises for our Oct trip. They also had fun summer things and 4th of July stuff. Be careful though those $1s add up fast!

DD11 has her class picnic today, poor kid they had a crummy day last year for their picninc too. They are having a suprise baby shower for their teacher too, she's expecting her first in Sept. It's so cute to see the kids all excited for their teacher. I'm room mom for DD6, her picnic is next Friday anyone have any good game ideas?

Well, I'd better get my load in the washer and take the dog out. Hope today goes quickly for everyone. Have fun!

Good Friday Morning Everyone!:flower3: woohoo for long weekends! alot of people are out of the office today so i'm hoping my boss will let me leave a little early. mike's friend tom is coming into town so we are going to go out tonight and i would like to be able to go home and change out of my dress slacks. this weekend i plan on taking my dad to see the new Indiana Jones! i'm excited... indy is my favorite trilogy (well, it's not a trilogy any more. what do they call it now a quadology??? ) anywho... i'm gonna get some work done. have a fabulous weekend everyone!:flower3:

Good afternoon everyone!!!!!
Just wanted to stop in and say hello and let you all know I am still living. Welcome to our new friends.
Paint, do ask if you can have the day to train switched. Your head will already be spinning to remember what you need to do for the next day. Did you think of a place to stay for your mini honeymoon? GrizzlyJack's in Utica, IL looks like a nice place to spend a weekend. Not peaceful, but fun! We spent our 1st anniversary in Saugatuck, Michigan at a B&B. We went out on a canoe trip and just wandered around the marina there. It was very nice. Congrats on getting the new job, by the way!!
Slo, feel free to come plant some colors around my house this weekend. I have a very BLACK thumb!!!! Can't grow a thing and can kill anything green. Is Kevin going to INDY this weekend?
Anyone else going to see Indiana Jones this weekend? I have been anxiously awaiting this movie. I loved the Indy series.
Well, shout out to all!! I need to run. DD has her last ballet performance for their skills learned this year tonight and I need to do her bun and get ready to head out.
Later
