Holy Tamole, it's snowed alot!!!!
The school has a 2 hour delay, and they should have school cancelled today. My street isn't plowed, and no driveways or sidewalks have been shoveled, and it's still snowing alot!!!!
21.gif

I'm hoping the school system comes to their senses soon, because the highschoolers would have to be at the bus stop in about an hour, and this isn't going to get better in an hour :sad2:

I feel so bad for Kevin having to go to work today - his commute has got to be terrible!!!!:headache: :headache: I wish he could have just stayed home today, but him being new at work, he felt he should go. Eventually he'll get things set up so he can work from home (once in awhile), and I hope that's soon, because it's days like today, that it would be great for hiim to work in his home office.

Oh...I just got a new email from the cancellations website, and they said school is cancelled for today - good decision!!!!!:thumbsup2 It's to bad I can't cancel work, oh well, thank goodness I don't have to go very far at all:rolleyes:

Bunchkin - I'm glad to hear that Lauren isn't as sick as you were, that's good news!!!! I'll continue to send PD so Hunter or Tony doesn't get it :wizard: :wizard:
**Thanks for the congrats to Stephanie!!:goodvibes
**I"m looking forward to seeing you guys too tomorrow!!! :goodvibes
**I'm going to assume my employee will come tonight. She doesn't start until 4pm, and she lives really really close - hopefully the snow will subside by then, and the streets will be much better.

Becky - I"m glad you made it home from your meeting safely last night :)

TJ - Enjoy your day off today :goodvibes

Laura - I'm glad you like snow, so you can keep all the rest of us upbeat about it :)

HERSEY - It snowed all day by Kevin too. It didn't start here until 5pm or so.

DS - That event at Woodfield sounds fun :cool1: I wish I didn't have to work so we could go.

Tiggerrnnnnn - I hope Kellie's friend gets better by tomorrow:wizard: and that Kellie doesn't get it at all :wizard: That would be a bummer if they were sick:guilty:
**Thanks for the congrats to Stephanie. We want this day to be lovely, but there's no way I'm going to put as much money into it as a wedding :sad2: (it's amazing that some people do that  )

Mac - How's the snow by you? Yesterday morning the weather people said that northerners wouldn't get as much snow - were they right?? Do you have school today?? :teacher:

jtm -

Thanks for stopping by here, and we hope you come back often :goodvibes
**Good luck going downtown today :wizard: - you'll have to let us know how it went.

To everyone else - Hi there!!!

Well, I guess I should go get ready for work
Have a good snowy day today - stay safe!!!!!

No school in our town, we are now down to only one day left to play with. If we have any weather:rolleyes1 in Feb & March we will be making up those days in June:scared1:
Be safe everyone:goodvibes

Hi all. I read through this thread some times and thought you would get a kick out of my story.

Way back when I bought tickets for myself, DW and our 3 DD's to go downtown and see the new 3D Hannah Montana movie. I figured we would spend the afternoon downtown, grab some food and enjoy the movie.

Well you guessed it, the tickets are for this afternoon. We live about 25 miles north of the city and with the snow, it could be very challenging to get to the movie theater. Taking public transportation is not really an option because it doesn't get us close enough to the theater and putting my kids in a city taxi with weather like this is not going to happen.

The silver lining is that since the kids school is closed today, if we do make it down they won't miss an afternoon of school like they were going to. :rotfl2:

My girls are going to be very disappointed if we don't find a way to get downtown today.

Oh well, just thought I would share.

I agree with PP, the streets downtown are (or will be) fine. Why not take a bus? Its really easy to do, they are parked out side the train station, just go to the CTA site and it will tell you which one will take you to Michigan Ave.

It will be an adventure for the kids.

We got over 8" here in DeKalb yesterday. We're currently snowed in and waiting for the plows to come down our street. Fortunately I don't really have to be at work until noon on Fridays so I still have a few more hours for them to move some of this snow out the way. DD3 is excited because she gets to stay home from daycare and watch Little Einsteins. :cutie:

We have a snow day today. I just finished shoveling. UGH. It wasn't too bad until I got to the part that was by the street. You get to shovel all the snow that was on the street that the snowplow stuck at the end of your driveway.

We have tickets to see Hannah Montana in 3D tonight too but ours isn't in the city. It's at the local theatre. DD was kind of worried about it but I told her by tonight, it will probably all be cleared up.

It has stopped snowing here and the sun is trying to peek out so that will help things.

No school for us today, too. DS better be cleaning his room on his snow day. It is totally out of control. I left home early expecting a horrid commute. I couldn't believe it but it only took me a little longer than normal. I only saw one car in the ditch and one fender bender. There wasn't much traffic today, though.

Now that I am work, I better get to work. Have a good day everyone. Stay safe.
Lori

I just wanted to say that I was on one of the trains that hit the car on Monday!

Leigh, we must take the same train. I would have been on that train too, except was stuck at the office. With all the canceled trains that day I got home around 11pm.

No school here also :)
My DD is VERY happy about that ;)
I thought for sure my district would have school b/c they hardly take any snow days.

Have a good day everyone :)

We got so much snow! And the way our house is (first on the block and across from a big, open field) we got a lot of drifting.
I went out this morning to shovel so DH wouldn't have to do it and the snow was a foot deep if not higher. And I had to push a ton from off of the end of the driveway into the middle of the street. Luckily the plows have been though and took that away.
It took me almost 2 hours. :faint:
And do you think the 2 neighbor guys right across the street who were using their snow blowers came over? NOPE!
No neighborly kindness around here I tell ya!

slo Tony's commute this morning was a long one too. I'm sure the roads will be much better for both Kevin and Tony on their way home.
That's good that Steph's school cancelled. I wonder what took them so long to decide? Our school automated calling system called us shortly after 5am!

Looks like a lot of people are going to see the Hannah concert movie!!
Hope everyone has a good time!! :cool1:

Our school automated calling system called us shortly after 5am!

Bunchkin - that is the same time our school system called us! We know the district spokesperson who is usually the voice on the automated system so when the phone rang I told dh - "Tom must be calling to tell us school is cancelled." - and then rolled over, let dh answer the phone, and went back to sleep. Sure...enough...Tom called us to let us know that school was cancelled! He is so nice to do that for us!
Lori

I wish I didn't have to work so we could go.

Maybe you can talk the boss into giving you the day off. ;)

I went out this morning to start the car and the driveway had 8-10 inches of snow in from the snow and drifting. I was just going to drive over it, but I decided I'd better do something so I wouldn't get stuck doing it all tomorrow after it got packed down. I ended up snow blowing the whole driveway and the sidewalks. The sidewalks were so deep that the snowblower was bogging down.

Afterwards, I threw the Durango into 4x4 Lock and we headed off into the snow. We actually made pretty good time getting to work. I took mostly sideroads so I wouldn't hit much traffic and got Carol to work only 10 minutes late.

After we got home tonight, I decided I better go out and blow the driveway apron again because it was under another 3-4 inches of snow from the road plows. Thank God we've got a good snowblower! :)

Anyway, I hope everyone else stayed safe and warm today. We'll see what the groundhog does tomorrow.

Evening all. Boatload of snow here, too. Out shoveling at 5AM is not my cup of tea!! Didn't get the cancellation call for school until I had already left for work. DH took the kids to my friend's house and she agreed to keep them for the day while we worked. (Note to self: get this good friend a dinner gift card and keep her kids all day).;)
Ride to work was slow but steady. Still some fools that think they need to pass the line of cars and drive in the unplowed lane only to fishtail around into a curb or the other lane. Go figure.
Hope everyone is enjoying the HM movie/concert. We see it tomorrow and DD is quite excited to go see the show and her friends. Bunchkin, we are looking forward to tomorrow and very glad the snow fell today and not tomorrow. Hope Hunter is still feeling well. Glad to know Lauren is doing better.
Well, better do a few things around here.

i get more than some people as i am a mile from lake michigan.

skool all day today.

Good Evening Everyone.

I was an official member of the slug club today. I did absolutely nothing, but read and watch tv all day long. Rather pathetic I know. However, we will have a busy weekend so I guess that it is ok once in a while.

I hope you all stayed safe and warm.

Tonight is the Hannah Montana 3D Concert Movie, and my girls are so excited!!!:yay: :yay: I wish we could while Tiggggerrrn, and Bunchkin are going, but at least I still get to see them for a couple of minutes :goodvibes

bonzarella - I think we have to make up all snow days in June :guilty: I keep telling Stephanie that when she prays to have a snow day, but she doesn't seem to care. I guess I shouldn't care either, because when she's making up school days, I will have peace and quiet in the pool :teeth:

Becky - Have fun at the movie tonight!!!! :)

Crissup - My boss is a pain in the butt, so I doubt she'll let me have off :rotfl:
**The groundhog said we have 6 more weeks of winter :headache:

Tigggerrnnnn - That was nice of your friend to keep Kellie and Kyle all day :goodvibes I'll see you later today :)

Mac - You got 12 inches and you say you didn't do to bad:eek: Holy cow, I think got more than all of us :faint:

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, I gotta run and get ready for work
Have a good day today everyone!!

Good morning! Today I'm cleaning and getting organized. Yes I'm trying it again. :rotfl: Maybe this time it wil stick.

Have fun at the Hannah Montana show :scared1:

Mac I think we got around 9-10 inches of the white stuff and we didn't have a snow day at work. I still should have called in the morning commute was very slippery.

Alex got "cheated" out of a snow day cause they already had the day scheduled. Some teacher day.

One of these days I need to take a day off and maybe he and I can head down to the museums.

Morning all!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! :thumbsup2

DD is looking forward to seeing the Hannah movie today too!!
And she's happy her friend's mom finally called us back yesterday to make sure she was coming. This mom is such a nut case! I won't even get into it.

DS and DH are having a guy's day out while the girls are gone! :teeth:
That should be fun for them!

sloSee you later today! :goodvibes
I'm hoping the roads have all been cleared out by you!

Tiggerrn I'm thankfull that big snow was not today too!! See you later! :goodvibes

SamIam I hope you and Megan have lots of fun seeing Hannah downtown and you both get a chance to stop by AGP and get Megan's doll into the hair salon!! ::yes::

hersey Check the museum web sites, there are lots of free days out there at all of them. The museums are really hurting for patrons!

Gotta run to the store before we can go! :wave2:

Good Morning

I had a busy morning. Tried to get an oil change but they did not open til 8 so off to Kohl's. I was looking for boys clothes for my cousins baby but they do not have much of a selection. Bingo Toys R US is in the same parking lot cause really what kid wants clothes. Yeah they were not open. So off to Target. They were CROWDED and they just opened.:confused3 Then I get to the dealership to get my oil changed. I was in and out Man I love my dealership. I always forget the coupon book at home so they just give me the discount anyways.

So now I am off to take a shower and get ready for my 80 mile drive to Indiana to visit my niece who is in the hospital. She was born 3 months early and weighted 1lbs 15oz in December. I talked to my brother last night and he said that she now weighs 3lbs 3oz. I cant wait til I can hold her. This little girl is going to be spoiled rotten by me.

Well I hope everyone has a great weekend.

The Hannah movie was fun.

Although, remind me that a teenage girl + mall + friends = mom spending money unexpectedly.

They went shopping after the movie and DD was looking for her 8th grade dance dress. I keep telling her that we have until May. I had no intention of buying a dress of any sort. She kept looking at WAY, WAY, WAY too formal and too old for her dresses.

Then we went to Von Maur's and she found a really pretty purple sparkly dress that seems to be the most popular dress of the day as there was another girl trying it on plus when we walked out the sales clerk asked if we had a specific size (way too small size for DD) in the dress because someone else was looking for it. Since it was sleeveless I wasn't sure how well this dress was going to work for her (since she has problems with those with her shoulders being uneven). Basically she took it in to try on for giggles & grins. Turns out it looked fantastic on her and fit her perfectly (we got the bigger size that gives her a bit of growth room)...so lucky for her I had my Von Maur card on me because I had no cash for shopping. She had tried on another much fancier dress but really she would have no where to wear that. It fit her perfectly too and looked really cute but it was too fancy for the dance and reminded me more of a bridesmaid dress.

Well we made it downtown. We decided to drive and there was no traffic at all. The snow had stopped up north here when we left and had also stopped in the city by the time we got there. It really didn't take longer than about 45 minutes to get down.

We ate at the Lucky Strike in the same building as the theater. Not very good food, but the girls enjoyed it. It was good that we already had the movie tickets at lunch because they all just wanted to stay and go bowling instead.

We all had a good time at the movie with my 10 year old loving it. As soon as the first song started she immediately began playing "air" drums. :thumbsup2 :lmao:
