Good Evening Everyone.

I was an official member of the slug club today. I did absolutely nothing, but read and watch tv all day long. Rather pathetic I know.

I hope you all stayed safe and warm.

where can i sign up for membership today?

So, I am sure ya'll have heard about the shooting in Tinley Park today. I was at the Cracker Barrel right across the street while it was going on! We were going to go to Super Target, but decided to eat first. I do some shopping at Lane Bryant too...it was surreal with all the helicopters and stuff.

Hope you have a good rest of the day. You never know when something like that can happen. Hug your family a little tighter tonight!

Hi all!!!

The Hannah movie was a lot of fun for the girls!
And it was really great to see Tiggerrn and slo~!! :goodvibes

kors Good thing for you "right across the street" included 6 lanes of highway!! :goodvibes :thumbsup2 I would have high tailed it out of the area myself. Especially since the person who killed those poor people got away! We used to live right near there.
And this afternoon we drove right past there twice on our way to see the Hannah concert.
We shop in that whole shopping center from time to time.

jtm Glad you were able to make in downtown without much hassle.

Hope all of you enjoyed the snow day. i did not get to relax! The restaurant where I work was still open! I could barely get out of the driveway. Then, there weren't any customers! I got a lot of reading dine, though!
kors- I heard about that. My mom was at Friday's last night. crazy. That is a nice area, too. Just goes to show you this kind of craziness can happen anyplace!
HM movie fans- We had a crowd of them in the restaurant last night. Now,I have a dd, but a room full of them?!?:headache:
Okay. Better get a bit of homework done. I have a feeling I won't do much tomorrow. Super Bowl party:woohoo: , even though I don't know the first thing about sports! I know snacks and that is all that matters!

New member are always welcome and encouraged to slug out at least once a month. Welcome!!!

kors What a tragedy. I had to go look it up I hadn't heard. I will be keep them in my thoughts.

I had to take my son to convenient care this evening to check out a wound on his hand. I hadn't noticed it before, (feel like a bad mom), but it was infected and had started to streak. We waited over an hour to get into a room. Once in the room the nurse does all the things nurses do when you get into a room. Part of our conversation went like this....

Nurse: Does any one in the house smoke

Staci: No

TJ: Papa does.

Staci: That is not our house.

TJ: What about the other kind of smoking.

(Right about now I am trying to figure out what in the world he is talking about. We don't do drugs, but the dramatic pause he has is deafening and my heart starts pounding trying to figure out what he is talking about. At this time the nurse turns to me and raises an eyebrow.)

Staci: (palms sweating) What are you talking about?

TJ: (as he laughs) Farting.

What can a mother of a 12 year old boy do but roll her eyes. The nurse smirks at me and continues doing nurse things. After she leaves I sternly tell TJ to NOT be a smart alec when the doctor arrives. He then proceeds to laugh at me.

Don't you just love your children. I know I love mine.

The shooting is very scary, and I just hope that they can catch the guy. Being in retail, a hold-up is my greatest fear. My thoughts go out to the family and friends of the victims.

We shop over in that center all the time, but have never been to that store.

hello homies in chicagoland

i did nothing today and proud of it.

going to church in the morning, will have your backs covered for the week.

All I can say is Hefty bags not just for garbage

I haven't the first clue about football but I do enjoy a good snack too :thumbsup2 I think I'll just watch to see Paula try to not make a fool of herself and the commercials.

The Hannah Montana was a lot of fun, and many girls in the theater were as crazy as they were at the concert  Many older girls (13 and up) were standing and dancing (which I felt really bad for those people that were sitting behind them, because many of these girls were tall), and alot of screaming  I really wasn't expecting that at the movie theater, even Stephanie said she wasn't expecting that. But it was a lot of fun, and the my girls loved it!!!!:cool1:

HERSEY - I hope you had a productive day yesterday with getting cleaned and organized. I need to do a little of that today too ::yes::

Bunchkin - It was great to see you and Linda too :goodvibes I'm sorry I didn't answer the phone when you called, but I had it on vibrate, and I didn't hear it. In fact, I didn't even know you called until I was at the theater, and looked at my phone to make sure I still had it on vibrate before the show started. With all the screaming at the movie, I could of had my phone on a regular ring, and no one, including me, would have heard it:rotfl:

crzykid - Be safe while driving back and forth to see your niece. I bet it was scary for your DB and DSIL to have their baby born so early. I will keep your niece in my thoughts and prayers to continue growing strong and healthy:wizard: . Please keep us posted on how she is doing.

Becky - Your DD's dress sounds really pretty :goodvibes We don't have that store by us, is it just a department store?

jtm - I'm glad you made it downtown and were able to see the movie:) . I think Bunchkin and I went to that theater once, at least I know we went to a movie theater downtown with a bowling alley attached to it.

kors - How scary that you were by that shooting :scared1: I'm so glad that you decided to not go shopping at Lane Bryant yesterday

paint - Have fun at your Superbowl Party today!!!:cool1:

TJ - Your son sounds like he has a pretty good sense of humor:rotfl: What happened to his hand? Were they able to fix him up? I'll send some PD his way for it to get better soon :wizard:

piglet - I couldn't agree more about a hold-up being a scary thought when you work retail. I have 2 panic buttons in my store, that if someone comes in, I can push it, and a alarm goes straight to the police dispatcher. I hope and pray that I never have to use it.:wizard:

Mac - I'm glad you did nothing yesterday, because everyone needs those type of days once in awhile ::yes::

Well, I guess I should start thinking about breakfast before I get ready for church. I'm thinking of making French Toast Sticks today :scratchin

Have a good day today!!

slo Sounds like you had a few rowdy kids at the theatre yesterday. I wonder if their parents were with?
No one stood up or danced when we went. Luckily!
Lots of clapping, singing and laughing at the part were they showed several groups of kids screaming!! That was funny!
I figured you couldn't hear your phone! ;)
Did you arrive early enough to get good seats? When we got to the theatre, there were only 2 other groups in front of us. So we were one of the first into the theatre!! :thumbsup2

piglet Was there to be a Pottery Barn in the shopping area you work at? I heard there was to be one, but obviously there isn't.
And have you ever eaten at the restaurant just north of there, not the PF Changs but the one that looks like a steak place.
We were over there shopping just the other weekend and that restaurant was PACKED!!! Smelled good too! Just wondering if you know if the food is any good.

Well, lots of Super Bowl snacks have been made! And lots already eaten and the game hasn't even started!! :goodvibes
DH said we are eating them in shifts!!! :rotfl2:

Just stopped by to say hi! :wave2:

Glad it's the weekend. The week seemed so looooong!

:santa: Christmas is long over --- no more snow please!

Already day-dreaming big-time about our June WDW trip. :cloud9:

EEK!! Our movie was subdued. I wasn't sure we would buy snacks or not because I wasn't sure how this was going to be (if this would be like a regular movie or was I in for a concert type thing). The little girl next to me was singing but not real loud & bopping around in her seat but it didn't bother me one bit. About the only time it got a bit loud, people into it was when she did the Best of Both Worlds song.

Von Maur is a bit pricey department store but I love it for a couple reasons, you actually can get really good service in there and if it's a simple alteration, they will do it for free. I've been able to find perfectly modest clothing in there there that actually fits. Plus, their charge card charges you no interest (of course, they make their money in the price of the clothes to start with). For example, one year I was trying to get school clothes for DD and was going to have to do older DS also (let's just say he was being a PAIN that day). While DD was trying on clothes and coming out to show me, the sales clerk asked me what type of clothes I was looking for DS and grabbed a bunch of things in his size so we could do it both at once (we were the only ones there and I think DS was going to Kindergarten so he wasn't an older boy in the girl's fitting room). If we needed different sizes for a specific item, she went and grabbed them. Then DH needed some dress clothes for interviews, not only did the associate take us through for the pants/shirt/jacket but DH also needed shoes so she took us into the shoe department and helped us pick out shoes, etc... It's not somewhere I shop on a regular basis but when we are looking for something specific we tend to go try there. For DD's size now it's hit or miss. It was funny that I was talking to one of the Middle School counselors last night at a Cub Scout thing we were at and she said DD wasn't the only who already had her dress.

New show on Wednesday on TBS (scroll down for details)

Hey all!!! Just an FYI, I am SICK OF THIS SNOW!!!!!!!!
Was out and shoveled tonight so I wouldn't have to go out of my warm bed in the morning. I hope it snows no more tonight!!!
Had a great time at the Hannah Movie. Good to see Slo and Bunchkin. I bet the real concert was a good time. (Don't think my ears could've stood it).
Well, need to get off to bed. Work in the AM.
Mac thanks for having my back, and for the listings.

you're welcome tigggeeerrrrrrnnnnnnnn.

it's still snowing here.........

time for green lights out.
tomorrow is a skool day and work day.

sweet sleep

happy monday all.........

saw this thread in the cb tonight. alex posted it.

Please Read- Long Threads
Sorry for the delay on this, we had to have a piece of software custom written to cut up the existing long threads.
We have also decided how to handle long threads moving forward:
1. Threads will be closed at 250 pages (3750 posts)
2. Any existing thread over 250 pages will be locked as is.
3. The really long threads that were removed will come back over the next week or so. I have to shut the boards down to cut them up so I will try to do it during "off hours". We are also trying index them so people will be able to reference them.

I hope everyone is enjoying the much faster boards!

We had a good Sunday staying at home.
I got some chores done, and then I sat in front of the tv for the rest of the day. :happytv: I put in pirate: 3 and after I skipped over all the scariest parts, for Katie's benefit, I condensed that movie from 3 hours to 2 hours :) Then I watched Meet the Fockers on ABC last night - no Superbowl for me:sad2:

Bunchkin - I don't know if there parents were there:confused:
**We had a horrible time getting our seats. We got there 45 minutes early, and 3/4 of the theater was already there   I couldn't find 4 seats together, so I had to put Stephanie and her friend together in 2 seats, and then a nice group directly behind them said they had 1 seat to spare. So I sat directly behind them with Katie on my lap. I wasn't expecting this with being 45 minutes early - oh well
**I'm so glad you guys had good seats, and were on of the first ones in :thumbsup2
**Has Tony or Hunter shown signs of that flu? I hope not :wizard:

Joe - I know how you feel!! ::yes:: I'm dreaming of our October trip too :)

Becky - Thanks for telling me about Von Maur :) Isn't it funny how we live so close to each other, but don't have the same store. You would think they would be around here too.

Tigggerrnnnn - It was good to see you too!!! :goodvibes

Mac - Thanks for the listings!!! :)

I'm off to do my poll for today - I have no idea what I'm doing :scratchin
Have a good day today !!

morning chicagoland homies.

off to work in a few minutes

catch you when the skool bell rings today...:teacher:

Morning all!!

Too much running around to do today!
The worst part of it all will be tracking in slush into the car! Man, I hate winter just for that reason alone. The car mats look crappy and so do my area rugs by the doors at home. Why did I buy rugs that are dry-clean only!!???

Kids are excited we are going to the Field Museum tomorrow. Should be lots of fun!! :yay:

Oh, that's a shame you couldn't find seats all together.
We were lucky getting there as early as we did because shortly after the crowds really started pouring in.
Tiggerrn and I had a nice conversation with a Disney lover who was behind us in line. :)
It looks like Tony and Hunter were able to steer clear of the flu! Go figure!
Are you staying at the time share in Oct?

mac Thanks for the listings!! :thumbsup2

Tiggerrn Just checked my calendar and the kids have the 18th off for Presidents Day. Let me know if that works for you.

Joe HI!! Where are you staying for your trip in June?

Have a great day everyone!!! :wave2:
