Sam I remember my mom getting my hair permed when I was young, maybe Lauren's age, at a friend's house who did hair out of her basement.
It was the worst experience ever!!! :scared: :sad1:
My scalp was burning! And afterward I looked like Little Orphan Annie from the movie!!!!

tmq Eye brow waxing for a 5 yr old???!!!!!?? WHAT!!????
I don't even wax mine for fear of the pain!!!

DMM Glad everything went well today. If they didn't find any fluid in Roman's ear then what do the doctors think is causing his loss of hearing?

DMM- Hope they get Roman's ears figured out!
Bunchkin- That is so sad! I remeber seeing a little girl wrestled to the ground, screaming, in Claire's. SHe had gotten one ear pierced and didn't want the other done. Now, dd's ears are peirced (At 5 and she really wanted them), but I was smart enough to have them done at the same time!
tmq- I waxed dniece's brows when she was 12. Her mom said it was okay, dn wanted it, and she needed it. She was really self concious of her unibrow!

Spanish test- 82...not great but not bad!
Got my Nicor bill- 375!!! I feel nauseous. Really. They underestimated last month. Lucky me. I might go throw up, or cry, not sure yet!

DMM I hope the Dr's figured out Roman's hearing soon

Bunchkin I agree if you get girls hair colored too soon I thought I heard it changeds their hair.

Paint 82 isn't bad. Are you sure you aren't paying some of our gas bill? Thank you if you are.;)

Hi everyone! Roman is home and asleep! My little guy was a trooper! The doctors were phenomenal! He was in and out within 30 minutes.

The bad news.....

They found zero fluid in his ears.

The tubes MAY still help his hearing by opening up the ear canal fully! We will find out for sure on March 12 if there is any difference in the ear test.

So all in all it was a good day!

Thanks for thinking about him!

good to hear you are now home and all went fine for the baby.

it may surprise you that the tubes will help him.
there was no fluid found in my son's ears when he had the surgery as a baby.
his problem was immature development of the inner ear area.

the tubes took him from 1% hearing to 55% hearing.

it was good for him.

keep us posted on roman :grouphug:

DMM, glad all went well with Roman. Hope they figure out the reason for the hearing loss soon. Have the docs suggested sign language? It might help him fill in anything he misses. They pick it up quick when they are young (unless us old folks trying to learn second languages - right Paint?! )
Enjoy your trip!!
Bunchkin, I cannot believe the hair salon would even consent to doing that to a young child. Talk about ruining one's hair!! I had the whole perm thing in Jr. High/High School. My hair is so fine, it would never hold any curl without the perm. And you know all about that 80's Hair!! Big wasn't ever big enough (thanks to Farrah). And mine would not cooperate. Love the 2000s. Flat is definately in!!!:rotfl:
Speaking of 80s, have you all noticed the polo shirts all coming back in? I was looking for the gator, too. Maybe the preppy look is returning. I've seen boat shoes and I've seen collars up. And Thriller is celebrating its' anniversary in rerelease. Lord help us all!!!!
Still coughing up a lung here - just haven't figured out if it is the right one or the left.
Later

I adore Lauren's natural highlights! I love the fact that our hair is similar, and there have been times I joked that I want to take her with me to the salon and say "make my hair the same colors as hers."

Oh I know that one.. Eric has my hair and I have many times wanted to take him with me and tell them .. this is my haird color really.. make it look like that now!!

DMM _ glad your home and that Roman made it through the day.. what tests do they recommend next??

DisneyMommyMichelle..... Hope this is the solution... I will keep my fingers crossed for the poor little thing...

Boy, that was some heavy snow yesterday.
Kevin snowblowed before work, and then when I came home from work (I was home before him) I shoveled by the street (from the snowplow), and the drift by our front door and against our garage. I couldn't believe how heavy it was:rolleyes:

Donna - I"m sorryto hear about Brians girlfriend still being in ICU. If you don't mind me asking, what is wrong with her? Has Brian got any positive news that she is going to get better? Please keep us filled in, and we'll keep her in our throughts and prayers :grouphug:

Tiggggggggggggern - I"m glad you enjoyed your out of town quests :) Were they friends or family?

Rose -I"m glad your dad is starting to do better. Please keep us posted on how he is doing, and we'll keep him in our thoughts and prayers :grouphug:

momto1 - I often wonder if Stephanie would enjoy track when she's in middle school :scratchin Good luck to your DS if he does it :wizard:

Bunchkin - I saw your post about the 4yr old, and it is so sad when you see parents that make their children grow up to fast:guilty: It would have frosted me too!!!! Stephanie has asked me about highlights (someone in school must have got them), but I told her that when she's old enough to afford it, and old enough to get herself back and forth to the salon, than I didn't care. But that won't be until she's 16 or 17, so she's going to have that long to wait
**To answer your question about the school delays for snow, it's not because of the custodians, it's because of where the buses have to go for the students. This area has way to many kids going to one school system (that's a whole nother topic for a whole nother day  ) and some students live way out in the boonies, and the school officials easily get nervous about the bus drivers having to drive in these areas, and especially for the highschool students that have to drive to school (the high school starts at 7:10am). So this is why the school officials easily make a 2 hour delay for a lot of snow.

DMM - I'm sorry I didn't wish Roman well yesterday for his surgery - I feel terrible!!!! :guilty: I thought his surgery was tomorrow, I don't know why :confused3 I'm glad that everything went well yesterday, and I pray that the tubes help him. If you ever have any questions about them, that I could help you with, please ask me anytime :flower3:

paint - My NIPSCO bill for home was alot too, but the one for the store    I may have to call my landlord and ask him if there's a problem, because $463 for the store seems like to much!!!
**Don't feel bad about the 82% - it can always be worse

To everyone else - :wave2:

Well, I'm off to start my day - this is bathroom cleaning day :thumbsup2
Later gaters!!!

g'morning chicagoland homies.

off to work soon.
hope you all have a great day!

Hi guys!! Thank you so much for everything. Right now they are holding off on anything until his appt, on March 12. They say like Mac did that maybe the tubes will help him out anyway. By expanding the ear canal etc.

If not, he says we will go from there.

Thanks again!!

I can't believe that 4yr old getting highlights?!! But I have a story that will shock EVERYONE (at least it shocked me!!)

When we were registering yesterday morning, they asked us a bunch of questions. I personally thought some were ridiculous:
Has he had any street drugs within the past 24 hours :earseek:
Does he have any recent tattoos :faint:
the lists went on and Sal and I joked with the nurse.
Then she said oops. Wait I forgot one:

Does he have any body piercings OTHER than the ears?!?!
We laughed and said "not today" ;)

But then she laughed too and said, these may sound crazy, but the list gets LONGER as we actually SEE some of these things on BABIES.

LAST WEEK a SIX MONTH OLD BABY came in with her BELLY BUTTON PIERCED?!?! :faint: :earseek: :sad2: :sad1:

Can yo believe that?! I wanted to cry for that poor baby :sad2:

DMM~ First of all, I am sorry that this was not the "quick fix" that it was supposed to be for Roman. I'll keep thinking of him, and I hope you can find out more next month. Now, as to that poor baby with her belly button pierced, that makes the "hair mom" seem normal. :scared1:

Rose ~ That seems to be great news on your dad, hope he continues to do well.

DS (and others) ~ Just heard the governor said Cole Hall will be torn down. What do you think of that?

Off to Lauren's ENT visit in just a bit now, she is looking forward to it because they have tootsie roll pops for their suckers. (It has been over a year since she was last there, i am surprised that she remembers, and I hope they still have them)

Morning all.
Rose, sorry I forgot to mention that good news for your dad. Will keep your family in thought and prayer that all continues to go well.
DMM, I cannot believe parents would do that!!! I see a lot of stuff on these young teens, but on a child!!! Shame on that parent!! I am totally against choosing things for my children such as piercings or any of that artificial stuff. How do they know that the child will want that for himself/herself one day? Perhaps they would never choose to do that. I waited until Kellie asked me to have her ears pierced and even then, I made her wait about 4 months to be sure it wasn't just a whim. No other piercings for her either. I hate having to tell these girls that ALL their piercings need to be removed before surgery. Even the ones in the places I don't want to know about.:scared1:
And, no, even if she wants a tatoo, that will not happen so long as she lives with me. Too many risks with that for me to assume. She will have to wait til she is on her own and can assume the risk for herself.
Still coughing my head off today. Wish that would quit. Nothing I do seems to help either.
Well, off to finish my cleaning. Sheets washing today and bathroom cleaning after the vacuuming and sweeping. Gee, guess that makes it whole housecleaning day today.:rolleyes1

Back from the doctor's. The one tube was out, sitting in the ear canal, and the other seems to be working fine. However, he ordered a hearing test and she does have a mild hearing loss in that ear. Not sure if it is fluid, or what. No antibiotics and just told me to bring her back if she seems to show a greater loss, or there is drainage. I am trying not to freak out because to me, any hearing loss is too much. I have so many questions, and was in too much shock at the time to ask them. I am sure it is nothing really, but with my hearing loss being so great, I am freaking out. To top it off, we owe the office $80 that I did not know about and the office lady said that I have to pay it before any further services are provided. Does that include a phone call for questions???

ETA ~ I just wanted to add that i only have to wait for Friday to have the money to pay them. I just hate waiting to find out, and trust me, the attitude from the office lady was that I will get no where with them until it is paid off.

Hello!!

Last night I went to one of the district's schools where they were previewing for parents a health education dvd they will be showing the kids at school next month! I wanted to find out exactly WHAT they would be telling the kids!!! Luckily, it was things Lauren and I have already discussed!!! ;) But I think it may lead to more questions......you know...THE BIG one!! :faint:
I cannot handle my daughter growing up!!!!

Today I went and helped out at DD's school where they had an in-house field trip about Pioneer times. All hands on activities and discussion. Really neat!
I picked up the guy's flier that runs it and I couldn't believe how much he makes!!!! Over $650 for 3 hours work!!! And it was just him!! The "helpers" were us moms!!! I want my share of that $650!!!! :rotfl2: ;)

piglet Is Lauren's hearing test soon? I wonder what they will do for her hearing loss?
Did she get her Tootsie Pop?? I :lovestruc those!!!

Tiggerrn You can clean my place when you're done! Thanks! :thumbsup2

paint Considering how hard you thought the test would be, I think an 82 is not bad. :thumbsup2

DH is home and driving me crazy!!!
Time to go get the duct tape!!!!!!! :cool1: :ssst:

Bunchkin ~ She had a hearing test done today, they have an audiologist there. It is not a huge loss, but still a loss. (if you are familiar with them, her right ear was perfect straight line where her left ear was the next step down for all the lower level sounds.) As for what they are going to do, well that is one of my questions.

Ok, I came back because I forgot to share something with all you other AMERICAN GIRL LOVERS!!

If you haven't been to the theatre at AG Place and have always wanted to go, you might want to get your tickets!!!

I read yesterday from a site with lots of AG info that all theatres in the 3 AG Place's will be closing!!!

Last theatre date for Chicago is Sept 1st! :sad1:

And the new location opening at the Lord and Taylor store in Watertower mall, as of October, will NOT have a theatre!

The company is looking into other ways to entertain customers! :confused3

L & T is a huge space so who knows what they could be adding or changing to the set up of the AG store once they move there.
Of course though, down the street on Michigan Ave is the actual offices for AG. So they might be adding them to the L & T space and leaving their current office location too. That would make sense to me.

I know Lauren and I will be going to the theatre again before they close.
We have been several times and really enjoyed all the different performances. And have even spent time will all the actors/actresses after a couple shows and even got Lauren's picture taken with them. Just a great experience!! They have produced 3 different shows at the AG location and we were able to see them all, some several times.
We will certainly miss it when it's gone.
And I hope the new location has something grand planned!! :thumbsup2

DS (and others) ~ Just heard the governor said Cole Hall will be torn down. What do you think of that?

I've personally never been in Cole Hall, so I wouldn't be able to recognize it one way or the other. However, I think it now has a lot of negative memories for people, and I don't think students/faculty would be comfortable having classes there again. Therefore, I think tearing it down and building a new building to honor the victims is a good idea.

piglet The location on Chicago Ave is closing. And a new location will be opening in the old Lord & Taylor space at Water Tower Place in Oct.

DS I agree with you, a new building would be best.

Hello all I was dragging myself around this morning. I so didn't want to go to work. At least the week is half over.
