bunchkin.........
i hope your daughter feels better real soon.
when our children are ill, we hurt for them.

i'm so sorry to hear about your mil 's medical condition.
i know this is hard for all of you.
she is a brave woman making that decision.

keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers.:grouphug:

ID, well, PT sucks big time but i don't have a choice.
glad today is over for that but dread going back on thursday.

i'm such a wimp with pain

Hey, all! I managed to get rid of my weekend shifts this upcoming weekend! I will miss the money, but I need a break!
Dec. 7 Meet- I think I am going to go! I have to request it off, but it will be worth it. Woodfield and The Cheesecake Factory...so worth it! I hope to see some of you I haven't seen in a looong time or those I have yet to meet IRL!:)
Geef- Hi! We have a puppy, too. He just chewed up DH's PS3 controller...did I mention he bought it Sunday? What a tough lesson to learn about putting toys away!
Slo- Hi! Thanks for the concern. Everything is fine, just busy! Can't wait for the semester to end.
ID- Would love to move to FL! I hate the cold! I only like snow from Dec. 24th-Jan. 1st. Too much to ask?
Bunchkin- So sorry to hear about MIL!
Hersey- Congrats to Alex!
Tig- Hi! Hope you stayed warm! At least when I fold the stuff fresh from the dryer, it warms me up!
Dgal- Go to the meet! You can go to Pampered Chef later!

Semester is winding down, thank goodness. I have a presentation and an oral exam (Spanish- you guys know how I love it!) on Thursday. Next week is TGiving break, but after that I have 2 papers due and 2 tests, on of which is going to be really difficult (cummulative and lots of stuff on it!). I am also awaiting results on a huge test I took a few weeks ago which will allow me to move forward in the teaching program. Keep your fingers crossed!

Time to be productive!

:surfweb:

Geef - What kind of puppy do you have? I have a puppy too (she's 6 months old now), and she's a Yorkie named Sophie :dog: She's so sweet, and loving, but taking her out in this cold is a drag!!!!

Tiiiiigern - How was your training last night?

DG - I had someone PM with me with a ton of turkeys that are good for siggies. I'll try and remember to forward them to you later:) Remember you can only use 3 images in your siggie, or you could get banged with points from the moderators (this happened to me a couple of years ago). Many people get away with it, and some people don't:confused3 I just wanted to warn you so you don't get in trouble.

HERSEY - Congrats to Alex!!!!:cheer2: You can brag all you want, because I would too!!!!!:goodvibes
**Sophie doesn't like the cold - she shivers!!!!! :cold: I need to buy her a doggie coat, so I can take her on some walks, because I'm having guilt for not walking her. I wouldn't put this coat on for going potty, because I"m hoping that if she's cold, she'll go really fast, which is a good thing in the winter :thumbsup2

Donna - I will enjoy the Festival of Lights through you this year, because we aren't going. I decided to put up Christmas tree #1 that day, and I think Kevin is going to put the Christmas lights on the house too:santa: . I hope you have a good time!!!!

Bunchkin - I am so sorry to hear about all the sickness in your house:guilty: That is always so stressful and exhausting!!! I hope and pray that all this sickness goes away by Thanksgiving, so you can enjoy your holiday!!!:wizard: :wizard:
**I'm also sorry to hear about Tony's mom:guilty: I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers:angel:

ID - I LOVE the Polar Express too - one of my favorite movies of all time!!!!!:goodvibes I keep the soundtrack in my car 365 days a year, and we listen to it even in July:) I'm looking forward to when I get tree #2 up, so we can watch it. I turn the surround sound up super loud, and it's awesome. A couple of years ago Kevin could here it outside:eek: but I was lovin it!!!!!

Mac - :wave2:

paint - I bet you are so excited for this semester to end:dance3: How much longer until you are totally done with school?

Well, I best finish my coffee and jump in the shower
Have a good day!!!

Good Morning Chicagoland homies! :flower3:

Hersey ~ Thanks for the turkey! It's so cute! I've been seeing them in peoples siggys and just didn't know if they meant something or if it is like the tag fairy...:confused3 i still feel like a newbie sometimes! So Thank you for sharing the Thanksgiving love! :goodvibes Congrats to Alex on getting invited to the honor's luncheon. It is definitely something to be proud of!

Donna ~ Have fun at the lights festival! I don't think I've ever been!

Bunchkin ~ Sorry to hear everyone in your house has been getting sick :sad2: And I'll keep your MIL in my thoughts and prayers.

ID ~ I've only seen Polar Express once and loved it. But there is a Metra conductor that sometimes fills in on the Rock Island who looks just like Tom Hanks character! I smile everytime I see him!

Paint ~ Good Luck with school! :wizard:

Slo ~ thanks for the warning about the images. I had no idea there was a limit! Like I was saying to Hersey, I still feel like I'm new to the boards b/c I don't know a lot of the random things. This is the first forum type thing I've ever been a member to so I'm still learning almost a year later!

Everyone ~ :wave2: have a wonderful day! Stay warm!

Morning everyone!
John, you made me crack up this morning!:lmao:
Slo, training went alright. This time we got to practice on the computer instead of just watch a screen. How are you surviving the cold? I will brave the temps today. Need to get Kellie some white tights for her understudy role, just in case she needs to dance an extra part. I also have to change out the color on her elastic on her ballet shoes. Needs black not pink this time.:headache:
Bunchkin, Hope your family is on the mend. Many thoughts and prayers to you and Tony for his mom. My dad finally had enough of it all, too. He just couldn't deal with one more chemo treatment or one more blood transfusion. I think they just know for themselves when their bodies have had all they can take.:grouphug:
Paint, how is the semester going? Done with Spanish yet? My DS says he just doesn't like Spanish very much-"They spell funny!" I am with you on the snow thing-1 week and be gone with it!
Mac, sorry you are not liking your PT very much. But keep up the hard work. It will be worth it for you in the end (and for the next trip you take to WDW).
Hersey, congrats to Alex!! Be proud. It's always great when they do well.
Donna, enjoy the light parade. Bring some hot cocoa, blankets, hand/foot warmers and stay warm. Say Hi to Mickey for the rest of us!
DMM I hope you share some pix here when you get them back.
Geef, welcome aboard. Come by often for a chat. We love to have new people.
For those of you heading to the meet, have a great time. The kids will be practicing for their Sunday School Christmas program, so I don't think I will be able to make it.:sad1:
Sorry if I missed anyone, but I need to get moving.

Good Day All!

I hope the weekend get warmer than they say... We are going to the Mg Mile Lights Parade (& Cheetah Girls show) on Sat.

DisneyGal922 - I'd answer you about the turkey, but it looks like you have been Gobbled!;)

Donna & Slo - We have a mutt from Appleton Wi. His dad is a Malteese, and his Mother is a cross between (get ready for this) a Jack Russle Terrier & a Black Lab. My parents have one of his sisters. They are totally different from one another. Ours is named Stitch. He has a thicker body than his sister and he is getting looong legs (looks kinda funny). He is looking like a Monster Truck puppy. :lmao:

Sorry I just have to brag for a moment. Alex was invited to the honor's luncheon tomorrow I am so proud of him I could bust. :cheer2: .

Congrats that is a big honor for you both.. Congrats..

Hi everyone!

Yesterday I was able to read everything I missed here but I didn't have time to post until now.

The past couple weeks have just been crazy.
So last time I was here Hunter was sick. He is fine now and went back to school. But by that weekend I was feeling a little ill and by last Monday (not this past Monday but the week before) I was really sick. I had a fever for 5 days just like Hunter did. Went to the doctor. And I have something wrong with my throat/lungs. It's not strep at least. Congestion? :confused3 I just started feeling better on Sunday and had no fever that day....finally. But then Monday morning, 4am, Lauren came into my room and she had a fever. It went away and she went to school. But by 1pm the school called and she was not feeling well, and then later that afternoon her fever was back. She stayed home from school today as she had a fever this morning at around 5am and she hurled. That's the way her body responds to fevers. Poor kid.
So I have no clue what is going around our house. Everyone was on antibiotics too. We all just finished them.
I was way too sick to even have the energy to be on the computer last week. I was totally wiped out.

And on top of all that I was/am by myself here. Tony went to be with his mom last Wed. while she had a biopsy on her left lung. I mentioned before her cancer is back. It is in both lungs. They biopsed the left one. And her tests for what kind of cancer it is comes in tomorrow. She has told Tony she does NOT want to have chemo! She has immunce deficiency and she is afraid what it will to do to her. The right lung has cancer in it too. I think she has made up her mind that it is her time to die. It's so sad.
She just had a whole body scan 4 months ago and there was no cancer. So what she does have is very progressive.
Tony comes home on Thurs. He's been there taking care of his dad, helping his mom recover and doing a LOT of work around their house for them, inside and outside.

So that's my world in a nutshell.

geffric I have a really good broccoli casserole from Palua Deen you could add to your Thanksgiving dinner. I used it last year for ours and it was really yummy.

:wave2:

Bunchy.. sorry that you have had a rough time. hope the house hold get over the creeping crud and everyone is mended soon. Hope you MIL is without pain, does not suffer and is able to enjoy her time with her family. Has hospice been called? they can help from cleaning the house to helping make your MIL comfortable.

Yes I would love the recipe.. when ever you have a chance pm or post it for me..

Well I am back from Pittsburgh.. the meeting went well.. and there was snow on the ground and it was cold .. YUCK!!! Downtown today and trying to hold on for a few more weeks.

DG - Remember you can only use 3 images in your siggie, or you could get banged with points from the moderators (this happened to me a couple of years ago). Many people get away with it, and some people don't:confused3 I just wanted to warn you so you don't get in trouble.

I thought that limit got relaxed when they rewrote the signature guidelines a year or so back. Trying to make judgements on what's a smiley and what's a graphic can sometimes be a tough call for a mod to make. So, I believe the new siggie guidelines were to finally put it all to bed by saying you can only have so much space for your sig to fit in. That may be why you're seeing so many people not getting yelled at. Now, if your sig is too big, it just gets cut off.

I'll have to ask Carol what the current rules are.

Brrr.....it's cold outside!!!!! :cold:

Crissup - My understanding about the signatures, is that you can have as many similies as you want from The DIS, but you can only have 3 images from the outside (when you have to use IMG). This way, there's not as much stress on the servers, which slows The DIS down. Please ask Carol Ann if this has changed, because if it has, than I can add more stuff :teeth:

DG - This was my first forum too, and I'm still learning as I"m going:)

Tiiiiigggggern - Does Kellie still use ballet slippers, or does she have toe shoes/slippers or whatever you call them?

Geef - I laughed about the puppy looking like a monster truck :rotfl:
**Have fun downtown this weekend:)

geffric - Welcome home!! I"m glad you made it home safely :)

Mac - Tomorrow will be :cold:!!!!

Well, I gotta go workout, and then get this day started!!!
Have a good day everyone!!

Good Morning all!! :wave2:

Well some good news.....
Tony's mom has decided to have the chemo!! After speaking to her doctor's nurse who runs the chemo procedures, she decided to go ahead and try chemo. They think the cancer in her lungs is NOT lung cancer but the bladder cancer she had that spread to her lungs. Which means it may be more treatable and could go into remission. Lung cancer itself is the worst cancer to get. The survival rate is only 15% and most patients only live 4-5 years.
The crazy thing that I don't understand is that they removed her bladder, so how did it spread the cancer?? I'm not sure if my MIL got an answer on that. DH went with her and I'll have to question him about it later today. I get to pick him up at Midway around 1:30pm.

I went back to my doctor yesterday and she wants me to go in for blood work and a chest x-ray. She can hear something in my lungs. And there is for sure something in my throat making noise. And there is a lymph node in my throat that has formed too.

slo A coat for Sophie would be cute. Last night I saw my neighbors walking their dog and it had on a coat that was a Scottish tartan print.

paint Hope your test grade is good!! Why do you have to wait so long to get it though? Have fun some fun this weekend since your not working.

geffric I'll try to get that recipe to you today or tomorrow.

mac Hope PT goes well for you today.

irish dancer We love Polar Express too. Glad you had a good weekend at the cabin.

Tiggerrn What roles is Kellie playing?

Need to run!

Crissup - My understanding about the signatures, is that you can have as many similies as you want from The DIS, but you can only have 3 images from the outside (when you have to use IMG). Carol didn't get a chance to respond last night, but she told me I was right. She also pointed out to me that I could find the answers in the Board Posting guidelines. :rolleyes1

So, I went and checked the posting guidelines and here's two sections I found that are relevent...

5. ADVERTISING: The advertisers/sponsors who you see on the DIS are carefully chosen. While we welcome discussion of them as well as other businesses that you have information or questions about, if its determined that you are using the DIS to promote a commercial venture, you will lose your posting privileges. This includes choosing a username/signature that refers to your business. In addition, links to the company's website will be blocked. Also note that we do not want the boards to be used for solicitations or for requesting referrals.

10. SIGNATURES:

- Your signature will be limited in length. The program will do this automatically and anything over the allowed length will be cut off

- You will be limited to a total of 25 images and smilies The program will handle this automatically

- All content and links must meet DIS board posting guidelines. Signatures have the same content rules as any post on the boards

- You may not have a signature that is so wide it causes the page to expand

- We reserve the right to remove or modify signatures that cause issues with the boards or slow page loading. Please make sure any images in your signature are hosted on a reliable site. Any signature that contains malicious or harmful code will be removed immediately and the poster
sanctioned

If you have any questions or need help please visit our Tech Support Board

If you notice, you'll sometimes see people's signatures that have a portion of the bottom clipped off. These would be signatures that are too long and the board has automagically truncated it to fit the space allowed.

Hi gang! I have been reading and keeping caught up with all that is going on. Prayers and pixie dust to all the dis'ers who are sick, their kiddos and families, too.

Looks like I better check the weather for Friday? I am so not ready for winter or the cold.

Slo - are you getting snow yet? I hope not! Is business picking up for the holiday season/ I hope so!

Thanksgiving is just one week away. I am making a corn casserole and something else to take to mil. I have a box of Cranberry Jello hanging around so I think I might do a search for some type of Cranberry Jello salad.

DS is doing a 1 mile run at Pilcher Park in Joliet that morning. They have a 1 mile and a 4 mile. He doesn't feel like he is up to the 4 mile and has never done a race in the cold. So...watching him run cross country in the lovely fall weather was one thing....but to now watch him run in the freezing cold is another. Good for him, though!

Better get back to work! Have a good day everyone!
Lori

Hey all. Day one of Nutcracker performances (out of 4) is done. There were a few glitches with the sound system today. But all in all it went well.
Kellie danced 2 parts today-she is little Clara (there is a part in the Land of Sweets where Clara sits with her Prince and watches all the dances, and sees herself and her young prince as children), and today she understudied for a Bon Bon. The children come out from under Mother Ginger's big skirt and do some tumbling and dance. She is one of those children as a BonBon. Slo, she still dances in ballet slippers. They don't put them in Toe Shoes until they are about 12 years of age. Kellie's ballet teacher says it can ruin their foot bones if they do that too soon.
Bunchkin, I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers and hope you keep getting good news.
Mac, thanks for reminding us it is :cold: And I need to go out and blow those leaves.:guilty:
BigV, nice to hear from you here again. Stop in more often!
Well, I need to get moving here, so everyone have a great day and try to stay warm.

Hey everyone! I am placing below the Posting Guidelines blurb on siggies. The system automatically measures them so no need for any mods to actually modify or contact the posters. Unless, of course, there is something way out of line there. Let me know if there are any other questions!

Bunchkin - I'm glad Tony's mom decided to have Chemo. It always makes me sad when I hear someone say they want to die, even though I would probably say the same thing when I'm older, my children are raised, and I'm tired of fighting an illness. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers, that the Chemo works, and she gets better soon:wizard: .
**I"m sorry to hear about the tests that you need to have done. Did the doctor say what you may have? Please keep us posted, and I"ll send lots of PD your way:wizard: :wizard:

Crissup and Carol Ann - Thanks for clearing up the signature rules:) Now I don't have to worry about having to much - that's awesome!!!!!

Big V - So good to see you!!! Please come by more often - we always love seeing you!!!!

momto1 - I make a corn casserole for Thanksgiving too. It's with cream corn, regular corn, corn bread, and other ingrediants that I can't think of - I love it!!!! I especially love eating corn pudding (that's what it's called) and left over green bean casserole for dinner the next day while putting up my Christmas tree - yummy!!!!!!!!!:goodvibes
**I have no snow - thanks God!!!!
**I have been having a little more business, but none of it has been for Christmas. I"m going to have a "Super Sale" the day after Thanksgiving and then having it run for 1 week, so I"m hoping that generates some business. Kevin is going to make a big banner this weekend for us to hang outside on Wednesday:thumbsup2

TTTTTTTTigern - I"m glad Kellie had a successful first performance:dance3: That makes sense about the toe shoes. Is she looking forward to advancing to those someday? I know Stephanie always looked forward to wearing them.

Well, I'm off to jump into the shower
Have a great day today!!!
