Calling all Chicago DISers #2

I was SO nice to sleep in this morning:goodvibes
Sleep was intereuppted though with Kevin getting a call at 5:30am for a house fire. So I laid in bed listening to everything that was going on for awhile. It ended up being a shed on fire, so I was glad about that. I always feel so bad for whoever has a house fire - I just couldn't imagine going through that. A shed, and it's contents, are so much easier to replace, than a house and your memories inside it.

I got alot of my chores done yesterday, so that was good. Today I'm taking the girls out for pancakes at IHOP, and then we are heading to the mall. We may even make a stop at American Sales to go walk around there Christmas trees - I love doing that!!!!! Then I need to come home and finish Katie's room. I LOVE the new paint job, and she does too. Her room went from bright teal/turquoise on the bottom, and a bright light purple/lavender on top with a Winner the Pooh border between. Now it is bright dark hot pink on bottom, and a darker/brighter pink on top, and a solid white border is going between them. The theme of her room is Dora the Explorer - she loves Dora!!!! I was so against it at first, but then I thought I need her to be her, so I gave in. This is also her Christmas present, so this is another reason why I caved. It really is going to look great when it's done!!!!:thumbsup2

HERSEY - Bowling!!!! How funny!!!!!:rotfl:

DG - Did you have a successful shopping day????

Mac - :wave2:

Tigggggggggggggggggggern - Good luck to Kellie :wizard: I hope I can come see her someday before she doesn't do it anymore. Good luck to you too with all the stress that comes with this :wizard: You're such a good mom!!!!:goodvibes
**I have your photo album, but it's tucked away in a box that Kevin needs to go through first. He had a bunch of stuff shipped home, and he has a Christmas present for me in this box. So I keep telling him to get that gift out of there, so I can get to the other things. He keeps saying he will, but you know how that goes:rolleyes: I will let you know when I have it at the store, and then you can come get it.
**Thanks on the tip about going to Macy's. I"m always looking for long sleeves, because Stephanie gets cold at church, when she's singing in the choir. I will definitly go there today :thumbsup2

Geffric - When I get in that box, I will ship your CD to you ASAP:)

Geef - :welcome:
No need to read all the pages, because that would take forever. Just jump right in, we'll be happy to help you catch up as you go :goodvibes

Well, I need to go jump in the shower and get the girls up - I'm hungry for my pancakes :teeth:
Have a good day everyone!!!

Good Sunday morning, all!

Thank you for the birthday wishes for Mark...he celebrates his birthday for a week at a time, so they are not really belated at all! (I made brownies yesterday, turned out much better than the cake debacle!)

Mac, great to see you posting! And, continue to heal and feel better...

Hersey, the office is relocating on the opposite side of the same city, so it will be a further drive for just about everyone that works there. I am going to have to figure out the quickest way to get there from home. I know it's going to add at least 10 minutes to the drive time in the morning for me, plus there is now a huge parking lot, and a 3-story building to deal with, instead of the park-your-car-in-front-wander-in-to-your-desk situation I had before. It will take a while to adjust!

Slo, the room sounds like a true little girl's room..I am sure she will adore it! What is American Sales??

ID, I hope your weekend in Wisconsin is relaxing for you all!

Geef, welcome!!! Are you the organizer of the Doorway to Dreams meet? I think Geffric first mentioned it on this thread...so, this is open to everyone?

Paint...remember to schedule some "me" time in with all the studying & stuff!

Tigg...best wishes for your daughter with the Nutcracker! I hope you were able to catch up on some sleep yourself, though, just reading your schedule tires me out!

ALL...including any "lurkers"...have a great Sunday...and for the football fans, go Bears!

Morning all..

DonnaW - Happy Birthday to Mark.. the office relocating is tough but at least it isn't in another city ..

MAc- hope things are going well and you are healing as best you.

Welcome Geef..

Hi to everybody..

Well Eric had a pole vaulting thing at Bloom TWP HS this morning.. so a friend drove him to Chicago Hts and back.. Wonder which Sunday is our turn?? He wants to go to a camp on 12/22 and 23 there.. hope we can carpool.. not sure we can do the drive both days.

Geoff went to an Order of the Arrow thing yesterday and was supposed to stay the night and have more stuff today but it ended early and he arrived home last night..

Today I am cleaning, laundrying and cooking for the week.. oh and DISing too;)

hi there! Crazy day yesterday we spent the morning looking over the proofs of our photoshoot and I fell in low with too many of them! (As my wallet now shows) then we spent the day downtown at the Childrens Museum and then walking michicagn avenue and then to the American Girl store and the Disney Store and so on and so on!! It was a very tiring day!!

i didn't see much for the disney shows this coming week.

this is what i did find.

John Ratzenberger' s Made in America - Budweiser
Join us as we catch a pop fly at Nocona Sporting Goods in Nocona,
Texas, down a can of red and white at the Anheuser Busch brewery in
St. Louis, Missouri, and then head off to Tomorrowland to see why the
world of Disney is a small world after all. (TVKirby note - The
segment of the show is the last 5 minutes or so. It is really just a
short history of Animatronics. Lots of footage we've seen before
<Wathel Rogers in the Carousel of Progress programming harness, etc.>.
Segments are shown from all the parks and going back 50 years.
Expedition Everest's Yeti is shown, but commentary says it opened in
2005 instead of the correct year of 2006. Lucky the Dinosaur is also
shown. Worth recording for the completist. Interesting, but not
essential viewing.)

I had a very productive day yesterday!!!! :woohoo:
I took the girls to IHOP for breakfast - they've never been there, and they enjoyed the different syrups on the table. Stephanie fell in love with the Butter Pecan syrup.
Then we searched the entire mall for a Christmas dress, and bought one from the first store we went to - Sears.
During our searching, we also shopped at a couple of other stores for Stephanie, because she was in the need of clothes. We also had some ice cream at Maggie Moos - has anyone has this before? It was okay, but very expensive. The girls each got a scoop of ice cream, and I got a Rootbeer Float, and it cost me a little over $13:eek: To expensive for me!!!!
Then we went to Kohls, and got a 2nd Christmas dress (so now one has to go back), and also some new shoes for the girls.
Then we came home, and I put Katie's room back together, and then until 9pm I was going through all her drawers, pulling out all the small stuff, and putting away some summer things for next year. Then I went through her closet and did the same thing. I have piles of clothes on her floor that need to go into a box for our Spring garage sale. I can't even imagine how many clothes I'll have to sell when I go through all the bags that are 4T and smaller - there'll be TONS!!!! I'm going to make a lot of money next year!!!!:thumbsup2
So, that was my very productive day - it was great!!!!! :yay:

Donna - American Sales is a chain store around here that sells pools, pool supplies, and patio furniture during the warm months, sells Christmas trees, ornaments, and other Christmas decorations now, sells hot tubs, pool tables, dart boards, and other reck room things all year round, and sells other holiday decorations throughout the year. It's a nice store!!:)

geffric - That drive would be far for you - I hope you can find someone to car pool with too:wizard:

DMM - I bet your pictures are great!!!!:goodvibes We really need to go get a professional family picture taken - we've never done it.

Mac - Thanks for the listings!!!:)

Well, I gotta go workoff all those pancakes I ate yesterday
I ate to many of them, but they were sure yummy!!!!:goodvibes

Have a good day!!!

Good Morning,

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

DonnaW - Yes, the meet is open for all Disney fans! (non-Disney fans are tolerated if accompanied by a Disney fan) :rolleyes1

Have a Great Week!

Todd

GRRRRR.. anyway, I be back later much later..

good monday morning chicagoland homies.

it is 29 degrees and snowing.

welcome to chgoland .......:goodvibes

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: boy is it cold out there and it's only bound to get worse :sad2: I found mickey sweatpants at the disney store for DN1! They're blue with a mickey on them and the sweatshirt i ordered is gray.... i don't really think a 1year old is all that worried about being perfectly coordinated though:laughing: I also had a deal with the disney visa that i found out about at the store... buy one toy get the second 50% off. So I bought DN3 a buzz lightyear and an aladdin toy set for my dad to give him! I also got a gift for mike's sister, my oldest sister, and part of my dad's gift! So I'd say it was a pretty successful day! The mall was packed on Saturday, you'd think it was the day after thanksgiving. When I went back to the mall later to work(around 430) i had to drive around for 15 minutes just to find A spot. I wasn't looking for a close good spot.... just A spot! Anywho, I had fun being back at W-S. The people there are just so wonderful!

Slo ~ sounds like you also had a productive weekend! Did it snow flurry by you yesterday? How'd Sophie handle it?

Geef ~ :welcome: I was hoping to make it to the meet but I think my sister is having a pampered chef party that day... it's sunday the 7th right?!?!:sad2: I guess I'll just have to wait until next time. Glad you found us here! :)

Donna ~ Glad to hear your brownies came out well! :thumbsup2

Everyone else :wave2: Have a wonderful day everyone! Stay warm!

Our meet is at 9 am. Come to the meet,
then go to the Pampered Chef party! :)
Geef ~ :welcome: I was hoping to make it to the meet but I think my sister is having a pampered chef party that day... it's sunday the 7th right?!?!:sad2: I guess I'll just have to wait until next time. Glad you found us here! :)

I am SO glad that I am NOT a part of Indiana that is getting all that snow. If we were, we would be snowed in, because Kevin is not prepared yet for that. The shovels aren't out, and the snowblower is still sleeping in the shed. Yep....I'm glad it's not us!!!!!

geffric - Aren't last minute people frustrating:headache: Good luck on your presentation today:wizard:

DG - I"m glad you had a good shopping day Saturday:) It did flurry by us, and Sophie didn't seen to care. I'm very interested to see how she's going to be when there's actual snow on the ground :)

geef and Mac - :wave2:

Well, I'm off and running - have a good day today!!!

Good Morning all! :goodvibes

Speaking of the snow and the flurries...

We have a 12 week old puppy that does NOT like the snow! He stands shaking and crys. You have to pick him up and carry him back in the house.

It's funny... but, he better get over it for all of our sakes.

Good Morning everyone!! Did anyone here suffer the painful realization that we live in the Chicago area and it snows here in the FALL!!!? We just had flurries yesterday, but I feel for those that suffered an actual accumulation of the dreaded white stuff. My SIL had 6 inches overnight.:rotfl2:
Sure wishing I was headed off to WDW about now.
Thank goodness I went out for groceries yesterday. Today is only 26 degrees right now. I think I will just do :laundy: and stay in where it is warm. I unfortunately have to go in to work 6-10PM today for a computer training class.:sad2: Better wear the woolies!
Well everyone, stay warm and safe!

Good Morning Everyone! :flower3: brrrrr is it cold out! I'm definitely glad we are missing all that snow!

Slo ~ Glad to hear you aren't getting all that snow either. When i was watching it on the news last night i thought of you! Good to know Sophie doesn't mind the flurries!

Geef ~ Can I ask what those turkey's are in your siggy? I see them in a lot of sigs and think they so cute! Do they mean something? it took me about 6 months to figure out what a tag is...

Tiggern ~ Stay warm tonight! I would much rather stay home and do laundry and clean house than have to go out in the cold!

Everyone else :wave2: have a wonderful day!

Sorry I just have to brag for a moment. Alex was invited to the honor's luncheon tomorrow I am so proud of him I could bust. :cheer2:

Tigg I saw some of that stuff falling on Sunday  It isn't even thanksgiving yet:headache:

Slo glad no snow by you :woohoo: How is Sophie doing in this cold?

Geef I sure hope your puppy is going to be a small dog. He is going to be really heavy carrying him around when he gets older.

Hi, all!! Happy cold day in Chicago! We are going downtown for the Lights Festival this weekend, and of course, it's going to be freezing! I remember one year it was actually in the 70's when we went to the festival, that was a whole lot more fun. But, we will bundle up and make the best of it.:thumbsup2

So the company welcomed us to our new office home with a coffee cake yesterday morning and a catered deli lunch yesterday afternoon. I thought that was really nice of them! Now, I just have to figure out how much extra time to allow in the morning to get there.

Hersey...BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Alex!!!! And, way to go MOM!

Mac..how are you doing? Hope the recovery is continuing okay.

Geef...what kind of puppy do you have?

Tigg..yeah, remind me..WHY do we live in Chicago???

DG...glad you found what you were looking for!!

Slo...I thought about you, too, when I saw all the nasty weather reports for Indiana. Whew!

Geffric..I hope the presentation went well. Are you planning on going to the meet at Woodfield in December?

Bunchkin...know that we are thinking of you..hope things aren't too stressful.

ALL..have a good evening...Dancing with the Stars results show tonight..anyone watch? I am really liking Lance this season, but for some reason I don't care for his partner at all!

Hi everyone!

Yesterday I was able to read everything I missed here but I didn't have time to post until now.

The past couple weeks have just been crazy.
So last time I was here Hunter was sick. He is fine now and went back to school. But by that weekend I was feeling a little ill and by last Monday (not this past Monday but the week before) I was really sick. I had a fever for 5 days just like Hunter did. Went to the doctor. And I have something wrong with my throat/lungs. It's not strep at least. Congestion? :confused3 I just started feeling better on Sunday and had no fever that day....finally. But then Monday morning, 4am, Lauren came into my room and she had a fever. It went away and she went to school. But by 1pm the school called and she was not feeling well, and then later that afternoon her fever was back. She stayed home from school today as she had a fever this morning at around 5am and she hurled. That's the way her body responds to fevers. Poor kid.
So I have no clue what is going around our house. Everyone was on antibiotics too. We all just finished them.
I was way too sick to even have the energy to be on the computer last week. I was totally wiped out.

And on top of all that I was/am by myself here. Tony went to be with his mom last Wed. while she had a biopsy on her left lung. I mentioned before her cancer is back. It is in both lungs. They biopsed the left one. And her tests for what kind of cancer it is comes in tomorrow. She has told Tony she does NOT want to have chemo! She has immunce deficiency and she is afraid what it will to do to her. The right lung has cancer in it too. I think she has made up her mind that it is her time to die. It's so sad.
She just had a whole body scan 4 months ago and there was no cancer. So what she does have is very progressive.
Tony comes home on Thurs. He's been there taking care of his dad, helping his mom recover and doing a LOT of work around their house for them, inside and outside.

So that's my world in a nutshell.

Hersey Congrats to Alex!!! Cool!!!

geffric I have a really good broccoli casserole from Palua Deen you could add to your Thanksgiving dinner. I used it last year for ours and it was really yummy.

slo Congrats to Stephanie on her basketball game!!! :cool1:

Gotta run, it's almost bedtime here. And Tony should be calling soon to tell the kids goodnight!

:wave2:

Hi guys! The weekend at the cabin was fine, nothing special. Went bowling and to the dairy for ice cream and just hung out. Watched Polar Express too, I just love that movie.

mac - glad to hear everything went well. Hope you're relaxing and getting better! How was PT?

slo - the tshirt arrived today - Thank You!!
*Katie's room sounds cute, we did Deirdre's bedroom this summer while she was away at camp as a surprise.
**Glad you're not getting burried by the snow. Our snowblower isn't ready for the season yet either....guess I know what DH is doing this weekend.

Geef - Welcome to the thread!! Hmm, I might have to check the calendar for the 7th, would love any excuse to go to DtoD.

DMM - glad the pics came out great! Sounds like you had a nice day downtown.

geffric - hope the presentation went well today, it's always tough when you have procrastinators in your group.

Tiggerrn - the weather here is certainly enough to try anyone's patience. DH has been surfing the real estate sites again and is sending me links to homes in Florida. He desperately wants to move to a more temperate climate, me-well I hate the weather but I've lived here all my life so the thought of moving is scary!!

Hersey - congrats to Alex!! That is so great, you should be proud.

Donna - I always see the commercials for the Lights Festival and think it would be so fun but the weather always scares me away!
*Sounds like a nice welcome from the new company, I hope it all works out.

Bunchkin - Yikes, I'm sorry you've been having such a hard time of it. Here's some PD :wizard: :wizard: that all the germs leave your house.
*Will keep your MIL and FIL in my prayers, that isn't easy to go through.

I hope I got everyone, if I missed you I'm sorry but I've got to get the kids to bed. Have a great night everyone! :flower3:
