Calling All 8/19/06 Special Western Cruisers! AKA "The Cruisin' Castaways"

Hi everyone:

It's really nice to see so many people posting again, especially those who were Missing In Action!!! *nudge-nudge* Mary Rose :rolleyes1

I am looking forward to linking reservations with the late-seating cruisers! Lyn and I have plans to link our reservations together for 1 table, but then all the rest of us can link so that we are all right next to each other. I have to say, I am really excited about this :)

I also have a confession to make..... :guilty:

I sometimes go into the Cruise Cafe chatroom on AOL. It's mostly a much older (late 50's, 60's, 70's, even a few in their early 80s) group of people who know each other in "real life" and have cruised together, and have been cruising for decades. Anyway, I have been visiting that chatroom since 2003 when John and I were planning our first cruise, which was on a Royal Caribbean ship. I still go in there, I tell them how awesome our Disney cruise was, but they've been trying to talk me out of going on the Magic again in 2006, saying that since my sons will be older, they'd probably have more fun on the Voyager. John and I are cruising on the Voyager in a few months, so I figured I'd be able to check it out for myself anyway.

So this evening I decided to ask Craig and Robby if they thought they might prefer the Voyager instead of the Magic, for our family cruise in 2006. When I asked them which ship they'd want to cruise on, they both said immediately without hesitation "DISNEY!!!!!". Wow, I have to say I was a little surprised! I thought maybe they'd be at least a little curious about the Voyager. But no....they want to sail on the Magic again, so now I can go back to that Cruise Cafe chatroom and tell everyone there to get off my back because my TEEN SONS, BOTH want to sail on the Disney cruise, and not on the Royal Caribbean cruise! :) I was so hoping that they'd choose Disney, because there's no way I'd miss sailing with all of you! But I felt it only right to ask their opinion (not that they'd have a final say in the decision).

Ok, so now I feel better after having confessed to even *thinking* about taking the kids on Royal Caribbean next year

Mary Rose: I'm sorry to hear about losing your job :( I hope you find another one, a better one, soon! P.S. We'll have to see each other again soon; I'll be in NJ probably during spring break in April. Maybe we can get together another breakfast or lunch meet.

Andy: I can't imagine the thrill of pushing the button to sound the Disney horn!! What a wonderful memory of that cruise for you and Hazel.

Karen: We'll be thinking of you during your surgery. :grouphug: Here's to speedy recovery.

Everyone: thanks for the good wishes. I'm still feeling lousy, but trying to keep my mind on good things, such as our cruise :boat:

My father is supposed to be getting out of the hospital tomorrow, so that's good news.

Darlene: He's in the VA hospital in the Bronx, of all places! But he said he's gotten excellent care there, so that's all that matters. I'm just glad that he's able to go home tomorrow.

We're supposed to get more snow this weekend. With being sick, I don't plan on going out anywhere. I hope you all have a great weekend :sunny:

Ok - I better fess up and admit that I have been lurking too. Happy New Year to all. I am on my way over to read Andy's live account after I post this - sounds exciting. Everyone in my house has been sick and my husband's Aunt died this week so it hasn't been the best week.

To everyone who has been or is sick - best wishes for a speedy recovery.

To those who have lost jobs - I have been there many times - the company I am working for now is the only one that I have worked for that is not out of business. The one thing that I have learned is that it will always work out in the end. So keep up good spirits - it will turn around.

Tina - I missed you!!! I am getting ready for the March cruise. I am trying to decide on shore excursions for St. Thomas and St. Marteen. Did I tell you that when my dd needed to take a family picture to school she wanted to take your wedding picture? She said "Well, its a family, there is a Mom, Dad and a brother and sister." Remember how long it took me to put my Christmas decorations up - Well it is taking me even longer to get them down.

My body must have misunderstood the Diet Challenge, its moving up instead of down. I am up 15lbs from my pre-cruise weight. I have taken a few of those off but I'm not were I wanted to be less that 60 days before my next cruise(with all thin people).

Back to the couch for me (after I read Andy's post). Hope everyone has a great night.

Linda

Hey gang!

Terry - Hope that you and your dad feel better soon! I'm glad to know that you'll still be with us again next year. Just remember: Disney isn't for the young, it's for the young at heart!

Karen & Carmen - I'm sending both of you some of my luck finding a job. :goodvibes Before I got my current job in corporate America, I spent about 15 years as a government contractor and had to find a new job every 3 years or so. I always ended up with a job that was better than the one I lost and always found one before my unemployment benefits ran out. So here's some more... :goodvibes :goodvibes

To the Lurkers - Glad to see that you are okay! Don't be strangers!

Lucy - Are you lurking too? Where are you? I've got the email problems with Devin's mailbox fixed. He would like to get in contact with Tyler. Please get ahold of me, somehow!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Dori

P.S. - Hey! Where's the Friday night weekly countdown?

Linda: No more lurking for you !! That is so funny about your DD and the picture. We decided on our theme for next year's tree. It will be the year of the Santa. I went on the Eastern cruise about 7 years ago. It was on the Princess. You will love it !!! I have maintained my weight all through the planning of the wedding and all of a sudden I am gaining? What is up with that? I guess that's what happens after you get married and are happy huh? :flower: I am planning a trip myself to Las Vegas for a week in April. Chuck will be there on Buisness and I am going to meet him there. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc I have never been there before so I am excited. We wanted to take the kids but there spring break doesn't match up.

Sue:Being on the "Magic" with all the pixie dust around how can we not be able to find you a fella. How are the drums coming along? :rockband: Jonathan got a guitar last year. He wanted an electrical but we said NOT till you learn an acoustic guitar first. He plays once in awhile. lol I know I am bad.

Terry: Sorry your not feeling well. Get better soon. :flower1: Glad your still cruisin with us. Hello to everyone else I missed. Tina :D

Good Morning Everyone!!! I hope everone is having a great Saturday.

I want to wish "pixie dust"to all of us who are sick, out of work and who are having a rough time going now!! It can only get better!!! My prayers are out to all of us and the people in SE ASIA.

Reading the posts everyday(several times) cheers me up and makes me think of our happy times spent together!! We do have a great support group!!! :grouphug:

First of all, KAREN WHAT ARE YOU DOING UP ALREADY??? :cool1:

SECOND.. TERRY.. you had me scared.. that you were bailing out on us. Jaclyn would be crused not to see CRIAG again.. HMMM... BRUNCH in NEW JERSEY in APRIL.. tht may be do-able.. Ok.. and I will PM you my RESERVATION and I have DORI's linked to me... and KAREN so at least we can sit in the same area.
TINA.. if you choose your dining rotation and pic the APL ( which I think is the better) we may follow you ... (HOPE HOPE HOPE) Thats what we did last time..
WE CAN ALL REQUEST PALOS BRUNCH AT THE SAME TIME SHE SAID>>>

3RD.. MARYROSE.. phew I am glad your back.. the phone number was getting closer ..
Good luck to you and KAREN finding a job again... As you all read , I am going down to VIRGINIA next week, to take care of KAREN post- op for the week after her surgery. This is the first time MOM is leaving home.. Karen told me lets cancel the surgery and just go on a 4 day cruise.. her treat.... I told the kids that,, they said "MOM,you would never do that to us". and MARTY said, you would never go with out me... HMM now that sounds like a challenge...

Anyone going to FLORIDA next week that I can send you a post card to send back to my kids,,lol with a ORLANDO post mark  :flower1:

Doreen

Doreen: I am really just happy being on the cruise now that being said here is my 2 cents worth lol This is the first time for us being on the Magic. I am not really familar with the apla or the ppla or you get the idea. When I was planning our wedding I just told our wedding cordinator what nights we wanted to go where. :cool1: I thought it would be cool if we had dinner at Parrot Cay for pirates night and Lumiere's for the formal. What would the rotation be for that? I was also thinking of planning a mini day trip to see you and Linda when the weather gets warmer. Anyone else who lives out that way is more then welcome. When should I book the package? Thanks and let me know what you think. Tina

Terry - I hope you will get better soon and glad you are going on the Magic. I guess it's time for true confessions. LOL. I totally understand what you said about the Voyager or Disney because I also asked my kids which they would prefer after we came back from VOS. Lindsay, without hesitating, thought I was crazy for asking her and said DISNEY. Harley said he thought Voyager had more things to do (since he'll be 20) but said as long as there are people around his age, basketball, and his family, he's fine with Disney. (Mickey just doesn't turn him on). And I'm old, and I prefer Disney and being "Goofy".

Going to see Disney's "On the Record" at 2 pm today. Got the tickets last month and paid over $75 each for them. In yesterday's newspaper tickets were advertised for $25 rush special and $10 for students/seniors arriving at the box office 2 hours prior to the show, if tickets were available. My luck LOL. (I just hope that the people sitting next to me didn't pay $10 each).

Hope everyone feels better soon.

DOREEN - you are soooooo bad! Wish I was heading to FL so I could help you out with the postcard. Take good care of Karen and enjoy the break from home.

Darlene

Doreen - I wish that I could help you out too. (I LOVE it! I can just picture the look on the kids faces. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only Mom that has a twisted sense of humor.) One of my best friends (Devin's godfather, the one we had dinner with after seeing The Lion King) is currently in Florida and is another twisted personality. I'm sure that he would be more than willing to help out, BUT he's due back in Seattle on Monday... darn!

Everyone else stay warm today. We got hit with some snow yesterday. Yuck Tina

Three, of the more memorable photos, of our recent 4 day cruise on the Magic. Truly, this was a "MAGICal" cruise.

Sounds like everyone is doing well this weekend. Except a little snow. Sorry, Tina.

We had a good weekend. Yesterday I used my gift certificate from Stan for a spa pedicure...heaven... . Then I had a haircut that I badly needed. Today we went to the Walnut Street Theater to see CATS. Awesome!!! There is nothing like live theater. The performance was outstanding. Even Stan teared up near the end. Sandra loves live performance and this was her 2nd time for CATS.

Andy & Hazel...welcome home...where is the warm ocean breeze and sun that I ordered, huh? Glad you had such a memorable cruise.

Doreen...I can't wait to hear the kids roar when they get your postcard from "Florida". Priceless!

Back to work tomorrow. Everyone have a great week.

Hi everyone :wave2:

I'm still feeling a bit lousy, but better than I have been feeling. My dad is home from the hospital now and seems to be a little better. Thank you all for the good thoughts and get well wishes :)

DH John-Bob gave me a shot of adrenaline last night when he told me to plan an anniversary trip for the two of us, for this July, to Disney World!! I had been dropping hints left and right for months now. :earboy2: So, I've been checking out the new attractions and ticketing that Disney World has changed recently. Since 2 weeks before our anniversary we'll be on the Voyager of the Seas for a 9-night cruise, John won't have much vacation time left, so we're planning on flying down on Thursday, July 7th, and flying home Sunday night, July 10th. This will let us spend the entire day of our anniversay (Friday, July 8th) at Disney World, plus another full day, the first evening we arrive, plus most of the day on Sunday before we fly home. John isn't into thrill rides or the Animal Kingdom park, so we will have plenty of time to do the things that we really want to do such as the classic rides at Magic Kingdom (Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Small World, Hall of Presidents), plus some newer ones such as Buzz Lightyear and that new 3D show Mickey's Philharmagic. We also want to go to MGM to have dinner at 50's Primetime Cafe and see the Fantasmic show that night. We want to hit Epcot for a couple of things such as the 3D show "Honey, I shrunk the audience", and the new ride called "Soarin' Over California" which is supposed to open in the spring.

I am really excited about this trip! It'll just be John and I (Doreen, tell your kids we are mean parents! LOL), but Craig and Robby know this is just a short trip for our anniversary and are not in the least big sad that they're not going. LOL Robby will be in NJ for most of the summer, and Craig will be thrilled to have the house to himself for the first time ever! He'll be 17 and working, so he'll be quite the bachelor for 3 nights. LOL We totally trust him, and will threaten him severely if he dares throw any wild parties. lol

Still sick so this will be a short post.

Andy - Great pics!!! I tried to access the Webshots but I got an error. I'm glad that you two had such a great time.

Tina - We had the snow too. My MIL and SIL are coming on the cruise with us this time. I'm sure Roger will do brunch but I don't know about my MIL & SIL.

Doreen - The postcard is a great idea. We have 1st seating and when I get feeling better I will pull out the reas and get you the #. Keep bugging me if I don't PM it soon.

I missed Extreme Makeover show. Let me know when the re-run comes on. Hope everyone has a good night.

Linda

Sorry about the link with my webshots account, it was working earlier.
