Hi everyone

I hope you're all doing well! For the last few days I've been fighting off a sore throat/fatigue thing, but I've actually made it in to work all week! lol I'm so glad today's FRIDAY!

It's exciting to hear that the itineraries for summer 2008 may be released soon, I'm curious to see what they're planning. I really don't think we'll be cruising on DCL in 2008, but I know that some of you will be able to take advantage of (probably!) new ports, so I will live vicariously through you all

Andy: GREAT pictures, a nice way to start to my day! I still chuckle every time I see XOP or even just think of them. LOL And what a great group picture of all of us! I love it. And I'm really glad that I bought one for myself.

I haven't scanned mine copy yet, and it'd just be a lot easier if I could use your image because our scanner is not working. If you'd rather that I didn't, then that's fine, just let me know, ok? Happy New Year everyone!!!!!

We had a terrific Christmas then set off the next day for five nights in Vermont. We had rain on the way up but the Snow Gods came through for us and brought some snow so the conditions got better as the week went on.

Its Smuggler's Notch's 50th anniversary this winter and they are displaying the old marketing poster from that first winter.

We now have proof that Snow White was supposed to have 8 dwarfs but one went off and became a rum runner in northern Vermont. Here's the photo..

I gotta laugh because Smuggler's has been playing off the pirate theme for 50 years now. Hence the pirate trail names:
Upper rumrunner
Lower rumrunner
Hangman's Drop
Bootlegger
Poacher's Woods
Powder Keg
Pirate's Plank
Treasure Run
Jolly Rodger

They even had a pirate show for the kids featuring that little-known pirate, Silver Long John.

So I had my cruise fix even on a ski trip.

No worries about what clothes to pack when you have to dress like this...

Back to DCL.....I am still amazed there are absolutely no solid rumors about the summer of '08. If the Magic's itinerary is something we're not interested in then we'll probably do back-to-back Wonder trips just so we can get our 7-day fix.

Or maybe the Wonder will do 7-day Caribbean cruises if the Magic is away.

I still find the prospects of the Magic being away from the Caribbean for the summer of '08 kind of odd since its her 10th anniversary and it all started in the Caribbean. It would be like a couple eating out separately to celebrate their wedding anniversary.

I tend to agree with your way of thinking Kay, maybe just some different ports in the Caribbean, or maybe more "double dip" cruises!!!


As you can see (countdown ticker removed), our planned 2007 WDW Christmas trip is no more, the other party decided to go on a 7 night DCL cruise the early part of December, their son is homeschooled, and we won't be taking Angelina out of school for a week with next year being her Senior Year in high school. Speaking of Angelina, she called Hazel first thing this morning after morning announcements to let us know she was awarded "Student of the Month" in English, she was the only one of the entire Junior Class to receive this award, we are so very proud of her. This is her first award since she started attending the high school. She was so happy, she was crying on the phone when she was talking with Hazel this morning.

I've got to take Angelina to her friends birthday party.

Congratulations to Angelina, we are proud of her too!! Keep up the good work.

We were talking in work today about 2008, and I'm not sure if that will work for me as 2009 is mine and Russ' 25th anniversary, and I would like to take that special vacation with my husband this time.

It poured all night here in Syracuse, and when we got home from dinner, we had no power. It was restored about 10:30. I'm so glad. I would not like going to bed w/o power. Even though snow is prettier than rain, I will take every 50 - 60 degree day we are having this January.

Russell (son) had another allergic reaction tonight. He was playing basketball in the Friday night league and felt it come on, luckily he had Benadryl with him and got right home. No trip to ER this time, but I was ready to go if it was needed.

OK, power on, clocks reset, cable and computer working, so off to bed and my book. Take care all, and talk soon.

Doreen is feeling a little better and stronger every day. This bug really knocked her for a loop. She does too much, with running here and there. She just needs to slow down.

Elaine: Poor Russell! I remember the last time he had the bad reaction he had been playing basketball, was it at the same location?? I wonder if there is something in there that's causing this reaction?? Anyway, I'm glad he's ok!

Hi Terry, thank you for your kind words about Russell. No, this time he was at the parish gym, not LeMoyne College. The allergist told him that these reactions are a result of having an aged dairy product, and then exerting himself. ??? Last night he had blue cheese on his salad and then went to play basketball, but he also had skim milk on cereal about noon. So no more blue cheese for him, boo hoo, chicken wings are one of his favorites. As I said no trip to ER needed, but we have to get him back in to the allergist for a refill for the epi pen. It is 64 degrees here today and I am off to get ready for work.

Hi Elaine,

We're up to 72* here today. I have the windows open trying to cool the house down as it got up to 77* in the house with the oil furnace OFF. Hazel wanted me to turn the central air on, LOL, but I opted to open the windows!!!

To tell you the truth, it could stay this way until April as far as I am concerned, but I know the ski resorts aren't liking this weather. I know it won't last, but it sure is NICE!!!

LOL! I can't believe that I didn't notice it before today! LOL Anyway, I'm 99.99% sure that we won't be sailing DCL in 2008, but I'm still not counting out for 2009!

Hopefull for those who are thinking 2008 are out of the question,
When Disney announces its summer 2008 sailings maybe there will be something worth the expense.

For those of us in the Northeast a cruise starting from NY worth be great.

This doesn't surprise me at all because after our August 2006 cruise I got a postcard to take an online survey and most of the questions/options pertained to west coast California cruises.

I saw that thread earlier, I was kind of surprised, I didn't think they would take the Magic away from Florida two summers in a row. We "might" consider the repo cruise back to Florida if this is indeed what is going to happen. Of course it all depends on the prices.

Andy: The fact that the Magic might not be in Florida for a second summer in a row does surprise me somewhat, but it doesn't surprise me that if they do move it (and it seems like it's a reality now), that they're taking her back to the west coast. Those cruises were very popular, from what I remember.

regarding a repo cruise: We'd love the idea of a repo...but if the dates for those are in May and September, then they definitely clash with our sons' school schedules. Oh well.
