OH MY GOD........2009 is DH and mine 20th wedding anniversary (mid August). Last winter I faxed a request to DCL inventory control for a suite for the middle of August 2009 and specifically mentioned its because we are celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary.

We are so there in August 2009!!!!!!

I even printed out a calendar of dates in 2009 to see what dates in August we would want.

Ours is in the mid June, but school is still in session then

Well that settles it then! You ALL have to cruise in 2009 with us!! ::yes:: So many of you have special occasions to celebrate that year. :sunny:

Sorry I have been away for so long.. busy planning next year with the fools on the other board!

Hello to all the sisters on the Board! (Doreen, Elaine, Karen & Mary Rose, Paula and Johna!) Mary Rose, say hello to John too!

Andy, Angelina looked beautiful, I didn't know ye were going through hard times.. this has been a really tough year for your family... hang in there my friend! Give my regards to Hazel.

Terry, you are brilliant at holding it together! Whatever you decide will be great!

Ed, how's Beth and Kaitlin? All settled back to school? Managed to open that Powers yet?

Bev, I'm glad that your holiday went so well, what is next on your planning agenda?

Shirley, Kweeva is still using your beautiful present.. and I took this idea and used it for her party too.. thanks so much for being so kind.

Julie, do you have to do Shakespeare in English class?

Promise to pop in more often!

Just read on another thread that passports are not needed for sea travel until June 2009. So we went and got our passports on Monday ARGHHHH

everyone is saying it is the best form of ID and I will see how convenient it is after the first time I use them.

Can't cry over spent money LOL

Joanna

Joanna, we all have passports and find that it makes going through security much easier and quicker. And I'd read on Cruise Critic about people who'd gotten ill or injured while on a cruise and out of the US, and those passports really came in handy when they were unable to continue on with the cruise, leaving them in the other countries.

So don't feel bad for having gotten the passports, I think especially in this day and age that they're invaluable when traveling anywhere. We even use them as ID when flying and staying in the US. :)

Thanks for making me happy I spent $350 LOL But in all seriousness, I agree that it will be easier. When we cruised in February, our friends had passports and they went right through check in and we held up the line it took forever.

Hi Moria,

Beth and Caitlin are doing fine, other than seasonal allergys that Caitlin has.
I havent opened the powers yet, it is stilling on the counter just waiting for the right time. Maybe once we have rebooked for 2008

Joanna, You will need passports to go into CANADA now.. I agree with TERRy that they are a great idea. It was so much easier to get on and off the ship.. At one of our BANKS.. they want a passport to cash checks now too!!

Ok New YORKERS and NEW JERSEY people.. I need help finding a hotel.. for less than $300 a day... I know they are there... but where.. I am not sure if I really want to stay in TARRYTOWN and drive in both days and save that way I didnt know if anyone knows of an off beat hotel that is great price with clean rooms.. One hotel review mentioned ROACHES..ugg...Jaclyn joked about brining her pointed shoes..lol :lmao: :lmao:

Last time we stayed in the SKYLINE.. it was great.. $248 a night.. but this weekend.. no avail rooms.:(

MOIRA.. its great to see ok hear from you again.. did you get your package ok??

JOANNA.. maybe we will come to find a hotel on LI and make the treck everyday..lol dinner sounded great.. yummieeee!!!

TERRY.. maybe we need to do a MOMS only cruise. ..lol yeah like I would be able to get out the door alone...

ok back to AAA.com and the hotel.com links..
have a great day
DOREEN

Hi Moira: :wave2: Very nice to see you again! You must be having a blast planning for the Med cruise next year!! :goodvibes

Doreen: Moms Only cruise? Believe it or not, I know I'd miss John and the kids too much.

Joanna: Regarding the threads for 8/16 and 8/23 2008, I was doing the countdowns because I thought I'd be on one of those cruises. But as of now we won't be cruising on DCL again until 2009 (after this February cruise, that is!), so I thought that someone who will be on those sailings would want the fun of doing the countdowns. :) :hourglass

Now in OTHER cruise news... :surfweb:

Guess what?! I got a phone call from my sister last night. She was asking me all about Royal Caribbean because she's considering going on a cruise that sails out of NJ, next fall. The thing is, as some of you already know, she has MANY life-threatening illnesses that she deals with on a daily basis, and the one she's most concerned with is her asthma. She has extremely severe asthma and that makes her afraid to be too far from a hospital at any given time. She and her family used to travel all around the world until her asthma got critically worse in the last decade or so. However, between my niece (her daughter) and myself telling her about the "hospital" facilities onboard the ships these days, she's just about ready to go on a cruise. :teeth:

SO...she called me back this morning and announced that she's decided to do it! She's chosen the Explorer of the Seas that sails out of NJ on a 9-night Eastern Caribbean itinerary, for next Oct 26th. :sunny:

She wants to know if we want to join them. :scratchin I spoke briefly to John this morning and he said that since it's a very big deal that my sister is going to do this, he thinks we should be there too. So, it looks like we *might* be going on that cruise next fall. :scratchin

Terry
I think you should keep doing the countdowns until the 2008 dates come out and the group decides on which cruise, then one of that group can start a new thread and countdown

IMHO.

Ed

Terry, I agree that while a Moms Only cruise sounds like a great idea, it was very hard to be away from my husband and son this past August. One night, I walked to decks until 3AM because I was crying so hard missing them. I talked to many crew members and sat in Rockin Bar D all by myself because I just was so sad.

I really don't know if I can go it alone again.

A cruise with your sister sounds great, and I am sure you will love it as much as I did with my sisters.

Moira......good to hear from you....we miss you posting here......how about a mini trip report for us about your cruise.

Terry.....I agree with Ed. Keep on doing the countdown until the 2008 dates are out, though by the time that happens you will probably be posting live from the Wonder.

I definitely would go on a cruise with your sister. And you don't have to fly so far to board. I know people who have cruised out of Bayonne and liked it a lot.

The thread on the Wonder drydock has been fascinating. Keeps us entertained while we wait for 2008 dates to come out.

Just ordered halloween costumes for the kids. Both are phantoms. You'd think after our cruise they would want to be pirates. Maybe I can salvage part of the costumes for pirate wear for next summer's cruise.

Hi everyone,

To me, Disney is all about "Making dreams come true". Tonight, I just had my biggest dream come true. I can't believe that I just got home from the Barbra Streisand Concert. Wow. Philadelphia is the start of her tour. It truly is a dream come true. Words cannot possibly describe how fantastic she is. I could sit there for another 3 hours just listening to her. I can't believe that I actually saw her perform. For me, this was a once in a lifetime dream.

Back to reality, I have to go to work (my first day back) in 5 hours.

Take care,

Bev :sunny:

Morning!

S&S - thanks for that! And I will get around to writing it one of these days! It's amazing how easily distracted you get when you have something to plan!

I booked flights with Aer Lingus last night for our trip home next September, really really good value! Was delighted! And we are getting to spend some time in NY after the cruise with some "fools!" so we can't wait for that either! Plus Mel (Bmwdsny) is coming to visit us with her gang which will make the trip even more special.

I can't tell you how many lovely people I met on the cruise.. all of you included! We had such a ball and what would put the icing on the cake would be a trip to Alaska in 2008! We intend now to cruise for the next two years and then see what happens! The ship being in Europe is a great plus for us - I had thought we couldn't go because John was going to the Rugby World Cup but he gave it up to go cruising again!

both Kweeva and myself went to Hungary last week and had a great time there.. really enjoyed that too. So it's all been "GO" but really enjoyable! Now back to normality and Weight Watchers today!

Moira.

Elaine: I knew it was rough for you being away from your DH and DS, I could tell. When you cruise again, would they be interested in cruising too??

Kay: If we do the Royal Caribbean cruise next October, we wouldn't have to fly at all. That ship sails out of NJ and it's only about a 5 hour drive. I'm from NJ and I go back there all the time, so it's an easy drive for us (unless we happen to hit traffic at the George Washington Bridge). So we wouldn't have to deal with airfare or pre- or post-cruise hotels, limo to and from airports, etc. The main thing is that we'd be able to cruise with my sister, which will be a very special event for us. :goodvibes

Bev: I'm so glad you enjoyed the concert, I know how much you were looking forward to it!! :teeth:

Regarding the weekly countdowns for the 2008 cruises: I thought someone else would volunteer to start doing them. Not sure it'd be any fun for me to keep doing them since I know I won't be on any of those cruises. :rolleyes1

With all this talk of cruises....anyway interested in sailing NCL's soon to be newest ship the Gem 4/19/08 - 4/26/08??? It leaves from NY which means we also don't have to fly. There are over 10 restaurants to choose from & you can eat whenever you're actually hungry. It even has a bowling alley! It goes from NY for 1 full sea day to Port Canaveral, then to thier private island in the Bahamas (Great Stirrup Cay), and off to Key West & then 2 sea days home. We are looking at a balcony cabin for a family of 4 for just about 4k.

It doesn't look like we will be moving to Florida in 2008 after all since DH has been promoted & he now LOVES his job. Not that I'm not happy for him, but he is not so eager to leave his job anymore. So now I have a new dream of living half the time in Florida & half the time in Mass. Gotta start saving up for that vacation condo now! :thumbsup2

I have also decided to not become a teacher. I will still have my bachelor's degree in the spring which I have worked really hard to get, but my heart is not in teaching & I'm learning that it takes a LOT of dedication. I have a new appreciation of just how hard teachers really work. :teacher:

I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up! :confused3

Bev you are sooooo lucky! I would love to see Barbara someday!!!

Take care all!
Diane
