Yep, Andy, the kids always take it better than the adults expect them too.
When Amanda was 5 and her goldfish dies, we were ready to buy her a complete aquarium, she said, Yeah, I know these goldfish don't live long.
Go figure.

Tina, how much arm bending did they really have to do? What an exciting opportunity!!! Enjoy, and let us know the details.

If you can afford to go then absolutely positively go. I think its so important for kids to realize there is life beyond the east and west coasts of the U.S.

Just to see that there are other cultures out there is important. Not to mention that the history of the U.S. is relatively short compared to the rest of the world. No 400 year old churches in this country.

Jeff.....don't envy the move. How fortunate that it wasn't one of those situations where you had to move out of one house and into another in the same weekend. It seems like house sales in NJ has come to a grinding halt. I know people who have had their homes on the market for a loooooong time now and they've already closed on the new home.

Andy.....are you kidding me with Angelina's boss???? Then its for the best that she no longer works there.

Fall is certainly upon us - the leaves are starting to turn. I'm dodging squirrels right and left in the road.

I'm liking the changes we're reading about the Wonder in drydock. Too bad about not getting Oceans Quest but at least we adults will get a treat for not being able to sail on the Magic next summer.

Come on DCL let's get with the program and release the dates for 2008!!!!

Hi Everyone!

Andy - Poo Poo on Angelina's boss. Glad she didn't take it too hard. It made me laugh because my DD just got a PT job and she works weekends. She's is dying to have her weekends back too!

Jeff - Glad your move is nearly complete! Best of luck in the new house!

Ed - You are making me feel much better eye-wise. I'm forty-f..., well let's just say I'm somewhat north of forty, LOL and my eyesight is changing dramatically. Reading glasses I understand, but my overall vision both near and far is deteriorating. Did you not wear any glasses until you got "over forty eyes"? I've never had to wear glasses before and now I think I'll have to wear them 24/7!

Hi Kay, Karen, Joanna, Tina, Elaine, Doreen, Terry and all other Cruisin' Castaways that may be lurking!

If memory serves (which nowadays it doesn't), we started this thread on the very day the 2006 rates were released and we all started booking. That was 9/29/04. We may have even started it a day or two after we all started booking. So maybe we should really be on the look out for 2008 rates really soon! Fingers crossed!

COME 2008 RATES!

Mary Rose

Same here on the eye glasses. A few months after I turned 40 I was getting an eye exam (I've worn glasses since 4th grade) and the doctor wastes no time saying that now that I'm over 40 that I will be needing reading glasses.

I totally scoffed at him saying I'm sure it will be a while.

It was a curse because within months I noticed I was starting to hold things in my hand further and further away so I could read it.

This is why I am upset with the new format of the Navigators because I have to hold it far away to read it.

Here's what I don't understand.....I've extremely nearsighted - I basically can't see a few inches beyond my nose. But since I am getting close to needing reading glasses, why doesn't that counterbalance the nearsightedness thus leaving my vision almost normal? :confused3

My doctor had two words for me....bi-foculs. :rotfl:

Oh forgot to mention this......

We just bought the same nautical map that DCL auctions off on the cruise. Its a map of the West Indies and the captain plots out the course of the ship during the cruise.

It used to be available as part of the silent auction but the bids always got too high for us.

Then this year DCL switch to that art auction and I darn near hit the floor when told the minimum bid for the nautical map was $500!!!!!! :scared1: :faint:

Are you serious about this DCL??????

So this time DH wrote down the name and publisher of the map. When we got back I did an internet search to see if we could buy the map.

Success!!!!!!

And better yet, there are two handwritten marking in the Gulf of Mexico. We think its the two oil fields that the oil companies just discovered.

And Gorda Cay is noted on the map.

Hi all,

Well my machine was upgrade to XP today. Tonight I am busy reloading my non work software.

Mary Rose, I have had reading glasses for the last 5 years
, but starting last year I noticed my distance also was not as sharp as it should be.

So now in about a week I will start with no line bifocals

So yes over 40 it starts going downhill :rotfl2:

Ed

Andy,

I'm glad you dd is taking it so well.
I too lost my first job within the first month.

Sounds like the old boss was a real jerk, your daughter will find a better job.

Well hello everyone and how is everyone doing?? I have had some health issues AGAIN... sad to say. None of us can donate blood for 1 yr from AUG 22 due to our visit to COSTA MAYA.. I give blood since I can no longer practice nursing . That was my way of giving still to the medical community.. needless to say I am bumming I guess COSTA MAYA has the potential for malaria..

ok so now more bad news.. A friend of Jaclyns called today and she was married in APRIL to Bobbie.. he was shipped to IRAQ the week of our cruise. 2nd tour. Last summer the 3 of them had a great time at the beach... Well she got the dreaded visit today at 12noon.. Bobby died when his HUMVEE tipped over and he was driving and it blew up.. no one survived.. he was 22 yrs old. He is being sent to MARYLAND and then to NC where his home town is.. He is stationed here at FORT DRUM in NY..Talk about young love and true love.. All he wanted was to have babies with this cute beautiful girl.. and she wanted to wait until her college was over this DECEMBER.. Please keep Kristine and Bobbie and all the wonderful men and women in special thoughts this week as Jaclyn and My family mourn for him and help her get through this difficult time.

ok enough bad news..I need a vacation.. ANDY.. having a child that works weekends really is tough..We cant seem to get away for any quick get aways.. maybe this is a good thing still.. have her hold out for a better job and don't put this one on a reference though..

MARY ROSE.. where is TARYN working??
DOREEN

OMG Doreen, How sad, I don't even know what to say. Please accept my deepest sympathy to this young bride and their families and your family also.

Love,
Joanna

Doreen-- :grouphug: to everyone concerned, we will keep everyone in our thoughts and prayers.

Well... I want to wish ELAINE a HAPPY 22 YEARS of wonderful wedded BLISS!!! I am not sure what Karen was thinking.. but maybe that was a special sister thing they used to do when I was in college...lol  :cheer2: :rotfl:

The cold weather is coming here.. 46* here this AM. Do I still get to blame TINA??

We finally got our postcard on MONDAY... my surgeon did as well.... and he got nervous thinking I was still there..lol He is thinking of bringing he grandkids on the cruise. I told him he can take me as a prescribed R&R.. and a babysitter.. DARN.. why did I tell him about all the clubs on board for the kids hheheh

MARY ROSE.. I have to ask on your choice of adjectives.. Poo Poo?? I can see you telling Angelinas boss "Well poo poo on you" and walk away with her>lol :lmao:

Ok.. need to make plans for the day... have a great one.
DOREEN

Doreen: I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of such a young life. My sympathies go out to all who knew him. :grouphug: I hope your health issues will be resolved soon

Andy: I just know that Angelina will end up with a BETTER job :thumbsup2 I'm glad she took it so well.

Elaine: Congratulations and Happy Anniversary! :bride: :groom:

Mary Rose: How is Taryn enjoying her new job?? How are DH John and DS John?? Hugs to all of you :grouphug:

Ed: Sorry to hear about the bi-focals. :3dglasses I've had them for a couple of years now, I hate having to need them, but that's just the way it is. It took me a little while to get used to them and they still are very annoying if you're not looking directly through them at the proper angle for the distance you are from the object you're looking at (did that make sense?? LOL), but all in all, I'm much better off with bi-focals than without them, especially since I do a lot of reading and computer work which requires me to look close one minute, then distance the next.

Kay: The map sounds great!! And how clever of you and DH to note the publisher of it while on the cruise!! :smooth:

Jeff: Congrats on the last leg of your move. Congrats on your new home. :sunny:

Karen: How are things in VA?? Do you realize that today is the last full day of summer??!! :sad2: The temps here have been getting cooler and cooler! In the mornings I have to put the heat on in my car just to take the chill out of the air! LOL

Jude: I think September/fall is THE most busy time of year, especially when you have kids! Hang in there!!! I hope you're in your new home before you know it. :sunny:

Joyce: Isn't it fun to come home and find mail from DCL?? DCL will send cute mail every once in a while, so enjoy it!! :sunny: I'm glad to hear that Katherine is doing well in France. :)

Paula, Bob, Johna, & James: Hello to all of you!! :wave2: I hope you're all doing well and hope to see you one of these days when we're down visiting your neck of the woods. I grew up in Sayreville and still have a lot of family in NJ!!. :grouphug:

Bev: I know you and Lindsay must be having a BLAST on the cruise right now!! :sunny:

Tina: If you do decide to go on the trip, I know you and Brooke will have a wonderful time. :sunny:

****************************************************

A quick countdown:

:sunny: pirate: :woohoo:  99 weeks to go until the August 16th, 2008 cruise!!!

100 weeks to go until the August 23rd, 2008 cruise!!!!
:sunny:  :woohoo:

Well Elaine, Happy Anniversary "whatever year" it is, LOL!!! :teeth:

Oh how terrible about the soldier killed. What a sad story.

It made me enjoy reading the countdown timer to 2008 even better.

Interesting story about trying to buy the nautical map......DH tried looking on the internet for it a couple of years ago. He could find who produced the map (Dutch royal navy) but could not find a company that distributed the map.

It was so frustrating.

But thanks to google, this time I was able to find a place in Florida that sells the map.

Yes, the heat came on in the house last night and both kids wore winter pajamas.

Happy first day of autumn.

So last night when I was at a party, these people who went on a cruise were talking about it for the whole party so it kinda ruined it for the rest of us. I mean sure they had a geat time but, get on with your life you went on the cruise in August 2004. It just really made me mad.
Man: Have you ever been on a cruise?
Me: yeah just last month
Woman and Man: oh, we went on one in August 2004 and met a lot of great people
Me: cool(thinking why are you telling me this, I already figured it out since you were talking about it) what cruise line?
Woman: Disney
Me:yeah I went on disney too.

Just wanted to post some pictures from the cruise for you all to see
and sry I don't know how to size them

Thanks for all the anniversary wishes. Being in the restaurant business does not allow for a night out on a Friday, so last night, my husband, son and I went out to dinner. Saratoga Steaks and Seafood, a really nice restaurant in DeWitt, NY. Of course I had to order the Filet Mignon and Tail. Awesome!!! And what a surprise, our son offered to pick up the check. But, alas, dad told him to save his $$$, he would need it for law school. Had a great time, and today was surprised with flowers at work.

Andy, tell Angelina that bosses like that are a dime a dozen and this only frees her up to take a better job.

Hi Terry, Mary Rose and Shirley.

Cannot wait til '08

Hi Everyone!
