Well, after 3 days of gloomy dreary rainy days, we finally have a bright beautiful :sunny: day here to enjoy!!! :goodvibes

PS-we were at the bottom of page 1, that's why I made this post!!! :rotfl2:

Andy and Angelina: WAY TO GO on the weight loss!! :thumbsup2 :sunny:

Andy: Speaking of high school things, Robby brought home the information packet for ordering a school ring. He's only a sophomore but apparently now they allow the sophomores to order their ring this year. When I was in school we had to wait until our junior year to order it. Personally, I like the idea of letting the kids order them earlier because it gives them more time to wear the ring while in high school. I can't believe how expensive they are now; the prices have even gone up since Craig was a junior in high school only a couple of years ago. We'll be getting Robby a 10k gold ring which will cost about $450. They want close to $600 for the 14k rings, and I told Robby that 10k gold is not as soft as 14k. My high school ring was 10k and you couldn't tell just by looking at it. Even after all these years, my ring still looks great. LOL

Anyone else have a child in high school who'll be ordering a class ring soon?? LOL They really have lots of choices now, in addition to being able to totally personalize the sides of the ring!

I lost my high school ring years ago
since then my High School went and changed the design.

Due to cost. Its hard to believe they have gone up so much

Caitlin is only in 4th grade, I dread to think how much it will be when she is ready.

I believe the price of gold has gone up a lot over the past year (could be wrong) so that would help explain a big increase in the cost of school rings.

I think that's a great idea to sell the rings in the sophomore year. I never understood waiting until senior year to buy a ring then only have a few months to wear it. Sure you have the risk that you change schools but I'd rather buy it sooner than later.

Interesting read on the other threads about a possible announcement of the building of new ships. This is exactly what we heard on our cruise. The only difference is that I heard the announcement will be next summer to coincide with the Med sailings.

A new ship + Alaska itinerary makes perfect sense.

I wonder how long it would take a new ship to be built?

HELLO HELLO...I am back on line and have a new desk.. of course not without defects of course.. When they were bringing it in.. the bar that was drilled into the top of it to help carry it in...made a welt on the wood.. and it bubbled.. well at close to $1000 I think I want a new base to the desk.. than it dosen't have the disk that covers the wires... ok now we find the cover does not lock (its a roll top desk).. The poor delivery guys were so embarrassed.. ok now to mistake #5 the CPU door has a magnet on the inside and that was put on crooked.. The guys called ASHLEY furniture to make it good.. They will exchange the base for me and gave me a $100 gift card. but I have to wait another week to PUT MY DESK BACK TOGETHER>> UGGGG..So have of my work is in the dining room, the kitchen.. and so on..lol

Terry... I know what you mean about class rings. Jaclyn got hers in 10th grade too.. she got a sports on one side andher name on the other. and yes,, talk about price.. ED.. look out for what you may pay.. Iahve to ask.. what is the differnce from what WALMART rings are compared to these BALFOUR rings besides the BIG BIG price?? I have seen others that had them,, and then thought about changing JACLYNS.. but she is very happy with hers..

MARY ROSE how is young JOHN doing?? I am so scared with that spinach scare..

JOANNA how was the RALLY??? did your family enjoy the get away>> Did you learn alot?? and did you get a hand out full of party ideas??

DOREEN

Hi Everyone!

WHY!!!!!!!!!

do the weekends go by so fast :guilty:

Hope everyone is well!

The John's are both on the mend. DS John's pediatician said we are not sick from Mexico otherwise we would have been constantly sick and most likely run a fever so that's good. He did get two shots thought and that's bad!

Terry - John home yet?

Doreen - Sorry about your desk. You know I have a connection to Ashley. Unfortunately, not one that can help in your situation. But I'm sure they'll make it right!

Mary Rose

Hi everyone :wave2:

Mary Rose: Yes, John got home late Friday night. It's great to have him home again :teeth: He'll be going to China at some point this fall, so I have to get used to this! lol

We had to go to Lowe's this afternoon because John needed to get a small part to fix our leaky bathroom faucet. While we were there we bought a new Moen shower head. Actually, it's a set of 2 showerheads that are connected; 1 of them is a HUGE "rain shower" showerhead and the other is a regular sized showerhead and has several massage settings on it. And the cool thing is that you can have either one of them running at one time, OR have them both running at the same time. I've always wanted one of the rain shower showerheads and I can't wait to take a shower later!! :umbrella: :teeth:

I agree that the weekends fly by too fast... :hourglass

I was wondering about the new ships too, so I emailed Disney on September 4th, and this is the reply I received:

9/5/06

Dear Bob,

Thank you for your interest in another Disney Cruise Line Vacation!

At Disney, we are always looking at ways to build on the great Guest
experience that we have today. We continuously evaluate various options
based on the Guest demand and feedback. It is not uncommon for cruise
lines to meet with shipyards and various industry suppliers; however, we
have not contracted to build a third ship and cannot speculate if and
when that might happen.

Also, unfortunately, we do not have any information regarding the
release of the 2008 inventory.

Please continue to check our website at www.disneycruise.com for updates
or call our Reservations Department at 800-939-2784 Monday - Friday
8:00am - 10:00pm (EST) or Saturday - Sunday 9:00am - 8pm (EST).

We look forward to sailing with you again! Have a Magical Day!

Doreen: I'm sorry that your new desk is damaged. I hope they replace that part of it soon! I know you've been waiting a long time to get just the right desk :)

Bob: Thanks for sharing that email, it's very interesting! :scratchin They came right out and said they DO NOT have a third ship contracted to be built at this time. I would think they would've been evasive if they DID have it contracted but just didn't want to say that at this time.

Hi Everyone!

As some of you may know, we are DVC owners. We are thinking of adding on to our contract. When we started researching we read all kinds of rumors about where the next DVC would be built and we are waiting for construction at the Contemporary before we add on. Well between the speculation of the next DVC resort being at the Contemporary or the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the other speculation of the third Disney ship already under "secret" construction I am going insane! The only thing all this proves is that no one know anything. Instead we missed out on adding on our DVC at a lower price :guilty: All week on our cruise we heard the most outrageous rumors from people who heard it from people who are supposedly "in the know". A new ship, two new ships, three new ships, West Coast, 10-days, Alaska, etc. You all heard the rumors too I'm sure. Well you know what, you know whose is really "in the know"? The Disney Board or Directors!

So as fun as it may be to speculate I think we'll most likely all be on the Magic in 2008 (or maybe the Wonder?)!

Oh my goodness, get out the electric-shock paddles and jumpstart me back into coherency!! :faint:

I read your last sentence FIRST before reading the paragraph "....So as fun as it may be to speculate I think we'll most likely all be on the Magic in 2008 (or maybe the Wonder?)!" and thought for a moment that you were trying to tell us that you were considering doing something else in 2008, other than cruising with us!!!! :scared: I saw the "most likely" part and thought you meant you were planning something else for 2008.

 Silly me!! :p

Now I realize that things do and will come up between now and 2008 but I hope none of us will jump ship :sail: before we even get to book the next cruise!! :rotfl:

Ah Terry......You can't get rid of me that easily!! :rotfl:

Excellent point......rumors are fun to discuss but they shouldn't be confused with anything concrete. I remember when it really looked like the announcement would come at the beginning of last summer (when the Magic was in CA).

Oh well. My kids will be in high school before a new ship is ready to sail anyway.

Now we're all in the "void" like we were two years ago waiting for the itineraries to come out. I just want to know if it will be the standard easter/western itinerary or if there will be something special.

Can't understand why DCL can't tell us that even if they haven't finalized all the pricing and deciding which week will be which itinerary.

Just need to know where on the globe the Magic will be in summer of '08.

I still have one more roll of film from our cruise that needs to be developed. The one in the camera with the dead battery. I had completely forgotten that high heat drains batteries very quickly and should have brought along a spare.

Same is true with very cold weather - I've had dead camera/camcorder batteries on ski trips. But then the advice is to remove the battery and put it in an inside pocket of your jacket to keep it warm.

Can't do that in the tropics.

Kay,

I guess you could have put the batteries in the cooler in your stateroom, LOL!!! :lmao:

....my Shoreside Survival Kit!!! Complete with CC cards for everyone in the family! I am listening to the music right now. Boy do I wish I was on that Southern cruise with Bev :teeth: lucky girl! I feel so official!!!!!!!! I can't wait to cruise again and be in that lucky group that gets those fun extra things.

Have a great day all!

Joyce

ps. Katharine finally called and she is doing great....just trying to get used to all that French :thumbsup2

Hey, that might have worked!!!!! I just needed enough juice for two pictures. TWO pictures!!! Was that too much to ask????

It was pirate night and we were all dressed up and wanted to snap a picture of the kids with Jack Sparrow and then with CD Andy (his pirate sash matched the one DD was wearing).

It was a pirate curse.

I still never ever received Castaway Club cards. The funny thing is that after our first cruise, DCL mixed up DH and DS's names so all the marketing stuff came addressed to DS.

Guess DCL only wanted DS to be a repeat cruiser and not the rest of us.

Out of the six of us that cruised for the first time in 2003, Hazel was the only one that received a CC card. We had to call DCL to get the rest of our CC member numbers.

Bumping up to keep us on page 1......

Mets clinch NL East tonight. Giants had that BIG comeback yesterday.
