Just caught up on this weekend's postings -- you guys sure were chatty! Just want to say :welcome: to Jude and her family, congratulations to Linda :thumbsup2 for post 11.000, and to wish everyone who is traveling today a safe journey. I'm off to the Jersey shore to spend the day at the beach. Sure hope it warms up, though -- it's only 56* outside right now (and to think it was only a couple of weeks ago that we were all complaining of 100* weather. LOL.)

Have a good day all!

Thanks Buddy Bear for posting the pics of the fan. I'm going to head over to Walmart tomorrow.

Yes, I'm beginning to get anxious over packing for the cruise, too.

On Thursday we're taking the kids to their first ever major league baseball game. We're seeing the Mets play the Phillies in Philly. DD decided this year she is a Mets fan (we're talking a girl who was 9 y/o when she decided this).

I took DD to Build-A-Bear yesterday since she had some gift cards to use. DD picked a dog and got him a Mets shirt and named him "Met".

Not a bad year to decide you're a Mets fan.

Time to print out the packing lists.

OK - how bad is this packing story? I have the same packing list I use for our trips. The last trip in 2004 was a week cruise and a week at Disneyworld - same as this trip. The only thing new on our list this year was the boys pirate costumes. Well, for some reason, we just couldn't fit everything in the bags we have always used. So we went to the store last night and bought a bigger suitcase so that we could fit all our "stuff". We are now traveling with 2 - 29" pullmans, a garment bag and a carryon backpack (for cameras and paperwork).
The new pullman is pretty cool - it has a zipper that if you unzipper it you get two more inches of packing room. We didn't need to use it, so we have extra packing room coming for the trip home.

Peeking in from break at work! :3dglasses

Maggie's back, she's thrilled with the way I handled the department for last 2 weeks, and she said everything is even more organized than before she left. :teeth: What can I say, I'm a bit OCD about organization sometimes. LOL

She even brought homemade brownies to work today, I just had one, it was delicious!

Ok..now back to cruise talk! :chat:

Doreen: Get Daniel into the doctor quick to see if he needs to be put on an antibiotic. I hope he's feeling better real soon.

Colestat: Congrats on the new luggage :) Our luggage has the zipper so it can expand too, and it's come in handy many, many times! It's a great feature to have, all of our pieces of luggage have it, even the smaller carry-ons, although if we are carrying onto a plane, we keep them as flat and light as possible so they fit into the overhead bins.

Ski-and-Sea: Yay for your daughter! My mom was a Mets fan too :) (If I had to pick a baseball team to be a fan of, it'd probably be the Yankees and/or the Mets. Yes, I know they're rivals, but not to me. lol)

Doreen: To answer your question, only 4 more days of work! Well, after today, only 3 :)

Andy: Thanks for the daily countdown!! :woohoo: :cool1: :yay:

Is there anyone else who I missed to be added to Page 1?? I got an email from Jude, and I'll add her tonight when I'm home. I hope I didn't miss anyone else. Who was the family who was supposed to cruise a few weeks ago but had to postpone? I'm afraid I might've forgotten to add them in!! :confused3 If I've forgotten anyone, I truly apologise!! It's been a very busy month for me!

Thanks so much for all the welcoming messages!! :earsgirl:
I've been reading thru all the other message boards and fielding calls from my husband and now am kind of freaking out. I wasn't planning to stress out much regarding the dress code as long as we were dressed in nice clothes, even if not standard "formal wear" (dresses for me and DD, pants, button down shirts and ties for DH and DS). We just sold our house, are waiting for a new one to be built and now are in an apartment as we wait...surrounded by boxes that I never had a chance to mark since our house sold in less than 2 hours after it was on the market! I tried to find our more formal clothes, gave up and figured that what we had was good enough (not tat we had tuxes or anything but I KNOW I had a box of "can be worn to a wedding- type attire" put away somewhere...). THEN I started reading the thread about what to wear for dinner and...OMG. Some people are rabid. In the midst of that my DH called from FL (he's a teacher - ie, summers off! - and is already down there with the kids enjoying 3 weeks on the beaches of Daytona while I toil around up here) and said "umm, honey...did I mention that DD has grown and her dressy dress is waaay too short now? Oh, and I think her princess dress is packed in storage so what would you like to do??" What would I like to do? I'd like another week of packing before leaving. And I'm at work today and tomorrow....
Am I crazy for stressing out over formal night? Will anyone really be looking at the dress worn by a 6 yo (but I'm sooo disappointed she can't wear the flower girl type dress I got her. She looked so cute in it. But hey, if her arms are sticking straight out trying to wear it, that would be a bad thing, right??)

I'm at sea side heights with my friends, but I just thought I'd post before going out all day. I can't wait to meet people around my age(I'm 18) on the cruise. I'll be able to spot easy, I'll most likely be wearing a band shirt every day. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:    pirate: pirate: pirate: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :stir: :stir: :stir:

Hi Jude,

Don't get stressed out over Formal and Semi-Formal Nights, just come and have a good time.

Hazel called the airport shuttle service this morning to confirm our ressie for Thursday, we will now be getting picked up between 7:30 and 7:45 Thursday morning, allowing us some extra time for rush hour traffic and getting through the security checkpoint at the airport.

This getting up between 4 and 4:30 the last three mornings is catching up with me, I am really dragging right about now. I felt like I was in a drunkin' stooper this morning walking around reading meters, then about 10:30 I got my second wind. Now that I'm home for lunch and sitting down, I feel like taking a nap, LOL!!! Come on Thursday morning, get here already!!! But not too fast, we still have to pack, and Hazel is on the way to the food store to get a few items to hold us over the next few days.

OK, time for a bite of lunch. ;)

Jude,

Do NOT fret over formal wear for the kids. DS will be wearing a jacket that will be noticeably small on him. DD will be wearing simple dresses.

While DH and I do dress up we really don't bother that much with the kids.

You'll be fine.

Jude,

Same here. The best you will get from me is a button-down shirt and tie. My whole family doesn't care to dress up; especially on vacation. My wife packs a nice dress, but nothing too fancy. Catherine and Sarah are kind of tomboyish so no gowns or dresses for them either.

Yesterday Missy and I were at the Disney store and saw a pretty Belle dress. We held it up and asked Sarah if she wanted this for formal night.

She took a second from the toy she was playing with to look at the dress and said, "NO!" :lmao: She loves the princesses, she just doesn't want to dress like one.

Thanks so much to everyone for their kind comments. (Taking a deep breath here...) I'm going to just go with what I've already packed (or rather, shmushed!) into our suitcases. I think I was just going nuts.
See everyone on Saturday!!!! Wooohoooo :cool1:

Enjoy that now Jeff, that is subject to change, I know first hand. Angelina didn't like wearing dresses up until we started cruising, and now that she is in high school, with Homecoming and The Prom(s), oh my, has her taste changed, LOL!!! :lmao:

Time to get back to work, boy my lunch hour went fast, I didn't even have time to get a 15 minute power nap in like I was hoping too!!! :rotfl2:

I am convinced that I still have my wife bamboozled on this secret after yesterday's conversation.

My MIL (Ann) and her sister (Helen) are coming with us and staying in the Roy suite also, but to keep my wife from figuring this out I had to FIB and tell her that I booked a separate stateroom for them.

Since the royal suites are the only ones that sleep six the dead giveaway could be if we all had the same stateroom number so of course I had to make up this story that they are in another stateroom. I told her we are in 6548 (cat 6) and Ann and Helen are in 6510 (cat 8). Mother doesn’t care to spend the extra money for a verandah room.

Missy’s greatest concern is that her mother is easily lost and we should probably create a “bread trail” from 6548 to 6510 just so she doesn’t get lost. She also wants to create a magnetic sign for her stateroom that says, “You are here, this is your stateroom” or something silly like that.

I was smiling inside will Missy is going on about what she is going to do to keep her mother from getting lost on the ship. :rotfl2:

Jeff - I really want to see the look on her face when she figures it out!!! What a great accomplishment if you can pull this off!
