we are a fun bunch..

Thanks, Doreen. You certainly sound like a fun-loving group....Hoping to be able to make my plans after we come back from the weekend. Maggie

Tina ... absolutely getting the insurance. My parents were supposed to cruise with us last week and my Mom hurt her leg and had to have surgery ... thank God we had the insurance, as we had to cancel them out 7 days before and we are getting 100% of their money back.

You can never count on the weather, as last year there was a hurricane the week of August 14th and this year we sailed with very calm waters. Hopefully this week next year will be prove to be a lot calmer than those waters right now!

I'm sorry to hear you are sick, I hope you are feeling yourself again soon :sunny:

Have a great day :wave2:

Yes, Tina,, SUNDAY is out for our MINI DIS meet. You have to get better first..

You have never been to the FAIR?? WOW!! I guess its like a yearly thing around here.. but than again its in our back yard.. We go 3-4 times when its here..

DISNEYPOLY you were on the cruise the week or two before we went last yr.. We did get hit by HURRICCAINE FRANCES.. but CAPT TOM.. kept us very safe.. He is the same CAPT on the RETURN cruise from CALIFORNIA now.. LUCKY people.. They are getting hit by some waves of 30 ft high and had to miss CABO.. but CAPT TOM will keep them safe, just like he kept us safe last yr... :teeth:

TERRY,.. hope all is well with your family too.

Today MARTY and his family had a CANCER meeting to find out what will be happening to his mom... She will need a port inserted and will start CHEMO after the WEDDING next weekend.. We need :wizard: to get MARTY through this....

DOREEN

Terry,

Thanks for the countdown

Hi all,
Well after some delays on the way home.
We are here. Arrived today around noon. Decided to spend last night in Scanton Pa instead of driving the last 3 hours at night.

Yesterday morning we decided to explore parts of skyline drive. This added many hours to the drive but was worth it.

Welcome Home Ed, Beth and Caitlin!!! That must have been some three week trip!!! It was nice getting to meet you at Trail's End on the 19th!!!

Andy

Thanks Andy

It was fun meeting some of the dis cruisers at the mini meet on the 19th. I am uploading the pics from this trip and will post a link soon.

Yes it is a 3 week trip to remember.

From Amtrak Autotrain to Skyline Drive
Many Disney charature shots and Natural Bridge and Luray Caveens.

Hey Sue - no fair - Jon & I are already home - wahhh. Nice meeting you (and everyone) at the DISmeet and at Soarin and at Innoventions. Continue to have fun
Trying to get another trip planned in the next 6months - Next August is too far away.

Dave's doing wonderful - he looks great. He's lost 30lbs and is feeling good.

Does anyone know anything about Hashimoto's thyroiditis? Came home from WDW today to find a letter from my doctor, prescription and a third bloodwork (already tested in June and Aug) to be done 4-6wks after starting this drug. Looking it up on the internet but has anyone ever heard of it?

Hello Everyone..

one year ago we departed on our 10 day unscheduled cruise...

Just thinking of everyone.....

Hi there!

My mother has Hashimoto's disease. It's a form of an underactive thyroid. I have hypothyroidism, we both take Synthroid. My mother, however, has a "goiter" on her thyroid and therefore she needs to be checked for that every year to be sure that it doesn't grow. We both go every 6 months for blood work just to be sure the Synthroid is doing its job. During and following my last pregnancy, my dosage had be to adjusted as my hormones were changing.

Have you been on any thyroid medicine previously?

Maureen

Hi Maureen - this is the first time Ive been on thyroid medication. Doc did prescribe it for a yr so we'll see how I do

sitting here surfing the DIS listening to Off Kilter - they are really good
Caught a few British Invasion acts last week too
Also had the chance to briefly see Sweat & Shears (real name?) the night we were heading to the new Lights Camera Action stunt show at MGM
God I wish I was still at WDW!

Hey everyone!

Bev: I tried to PM you about a room at the Radisson, but got a message that you were out of space and could not accept new messages currently.

Doreen: Don't worry, I have no plans to cancel this cruise. In fact, sometime this next month I need to get the air travel taken care of. (The cruise is already paid.) My current burning question is whether to stay at WDW Resort for a few days after the cruise or not. (And if so, where?)

The mini-DISmeeters: Loved the pictures! Wish I could have been there. It sounds like everyone had a good time. I'm glad that everyone got home safely.

Well, this last week has been absolutely crazy (again). I know that some of you jokingly point out that at least my life isn't boring, but quite frankly, I think that I could go for a couple of weeks of "Boring" at this point.

I spent this last week not as second-in-command, but as team lead. The lead was on vacation for the week. It just reinforced my desire to not be a manager. (There is a reason that a friend of mine refers to work as "adult day-care".) I am SOOO glad that the lead will be back tomorrow.

On Thusday night Devin, my mom and I all went over to Seattle to see "Annie" on stage at the Paramount Theater. I got season tickets to "Broadway at the Paramount" for Mom and I as an early birthday/Christmas present for her this year. It includes five plays over the next year. Mom had taken me to see "Annie" when it first came off Broadway. (I wasn't much older than Devin at the time.) Since it is such a good play, I got an extra ticket for Devin and took him along. There is one other play in the series that I'm going to take him to - "Wicked". It's the story of Glenda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West before Dorothy comes to Oz. It's supposed to explain a lot of things, like where the Ruby Slippers came from. I'm so glad that Devin has developed a liking for theater. In spite of the fact that we missed the 10:30 PM ferry home by about 20 minutes and had to wait for the 12:50 AM boat. He still thought that it was "worth it!"

Then on Friday morning we had to be at the junior high by 9 AM (after getting to bed at 2:30 AM) to pick up Devin's class schedule, have school pictures done, get a locker assignment, etc. School starts on the Tueday after Labor Day. I felt like a walking pocket-book. The only thing they needed me for was to sign a couple of forms and to write several checks. By the time we got everything done and hit the drive-through for lunch, we didn't get back home until 1 PM. (And then I got to log in and work for the rest of the afternoon - I was one whooped puppy that night.)

Yesterday we went up to the county fair with my friend, Doug, and his daughters. (Doreen, I understand about having the fair in your backyard. I live 1/2 mile down the road from the county fairgrounds.) We bought the kids all-you-can-ride passes and turned them loose in the 'spin-and-puke' area (as Doug calls it), while we enjoyed ourselves wandering around the fair and catching up with each other. The kids located us before the appointed meeting time for dinner complaining about being hungry already. We passed out dinner money and made arrangements to meet up again in an hour. It was nice to have some uninterrupted time to catch up with each other.

Today I am trying to take it easy and recouperate before I have to dig into the work situation again tomorrow. I hope that everyone is well.

Dori :cool1:

what a sad sad day - its back to work today - havent been there since Aug 11th - boss is on vacation this wk so thats a good thing
I read a post on the Budget board about airfare from Hartford to Orlando roundtrip at the cost of $116.90 11/30-12/4 (Wed-Sun). DH agreed that its a great rate. Only thing is Im out of vacation time until Jan 1st. Told DH Id take the days w/out pay. Kinda defeats the low airfare though. He said "talk to my boss". Well maybe I'll start looking after Jan 1st - give myself a Christmas present!
Im now ready to start saving up all my vacation time though for just WDW

Yep,

Sad day here too, My first day back since Aug 3rd.
Boy did I hate that alarm going off this morning.

Came into work, and they was many glad faces I was back. Gee at least its nice to be missed.
As they put it, it was a rough 3 weeks for them.

Well only another 500 emails to go though and I will be caught up

back to work

Ed

Well, I still have about another four weeks before I will be going back to work. Therapy is going good and the swelling is going down, the hematoma is hardly noticeable now, which makes me feel better. I'm still having trouble going up stairs, but we are working on getting the strength back in my right leg.

Ed--have you heard from your brother in Alabama? How is he fairing with Hurricane Katrina?

Havent heard from the group in the south yet.
Normally it will take a day or two if the power is out before We will hear anything.

This is normal

OMG OMG OMG - take a look at my signature! I just booked a return trip to WDW for Feb 5-10 on pts - may work on getting cash discount for either/both of those wknds - ahhhh - Im going to Disney, Im going to Disney, Im going to Disney :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

well I may change those dates and wait till end of March. I know it will be busier but a friend and her daughter will already be there. They may extend their vacation and stay w/me to do Disney! DH says "go for it, show them how nice the WL is"

Congrats Barb on the planned return trip.
