Jon said Happy Father's Day to me today. We were at the farm again and after they sang Happy Birthday to 1 of the cows (had bday cake) they told the kids to say Happy Fathers Day to their Dads. Dave was at home so Jon said Happy Father's Day Mom - what a good kid.

He said earlier he cant wait to get back to school cos after the next 3 days summer is here!

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads in the group.

I have plans to take my Mom to dinner tonight for Father's Day. After all, she has been both Mom and Dad to me for most of my life. (My parents were divorced when I was 9 and my father passed away about 10 years ago now.)

I can't wait for Devin to get home tonight! I decided to make this birthday particularly memorable for him, since he's turning 13. His dad and I bought him a new computer for his birthday. (He REALLY needed it too! His current PC doesn't even have a USB port and the schools have moved to thumb drives from floppy disks as a storage medium.) We're going to make him earn his gift this year. I'm sending him on a treasure hunt to find his gift and since he's 13, there are 13 clues to locate his gift. I'm sending him all over the house and even out to the garage and mailbox. It should be quite amusing for those of us watching. I'll let you guys know later how it went.

Well, I think that it's time to go outside and enjoy some of the sunshine today. Lord knows, it may be raining tomorrow. (That's why this part of the country is known as the Pacific North-wet! LOL)

Hi everyone :wave2:

We all went out for brunch today, then Craig had to go to work, so John, Robby, and I went to the mall and bought our DISNEY WORLD PARK TICKETS!!!! :goodvibes We got regular park hoppers for John and I, and premium park hoppers which include 5 "extras" for the boys, which they plan on using to go to DisneyQuest 5 different days. :3dglasses Or they can choose a water park for one of the days, if they want.

Our trip is in 16 days!!!!    Usually I pack the night before, but for some reason, I feel like getting the suitcases out this week and start packing. My poor DSs still have another 6 days of school left!! :earseek:

Andy: I'm sorry that you and Angelina aren't feeling well. Does it seem like she has mono? Have you heard back from the doctor's office?? I hope you're both feeling better soon. :grouphug: And I hope Hazel doesn't catch it!

Ed: I'm glad your ankle is feeling better. Keep taking care of it, you have a Disney trip coming up this summer! :teeth:

Tina: I LOVE your picture, it's gorgeous!! And don't forget to let us know how you make out at the doctor tomorrow!

Bev: Its GREAT to seeing you posting!! I'm so glad your surgery is over now. See? I told you you'd be ok!! :earboy2: And there are some drinks with our names on them, waiting for us for the summer :teeth:

Dori: Has Devin gotten home yet?? He must be thrilled with his new computer! :goodvibes I love the scavenger hunt idea; I've done that with my sons on occasion, they really enjoyed that part of it, the excitement builds with each new clue!

Hope everyone's having a good weekend :flower:

Hopefully we will have Angelina's CBC results by the middle of this coming week. Angelina's glands are slightly swollen, she also has a nasty cough now which just started last night. I had a monster sinus headache yesterday, but it is nearly gone now, thank goodness, I'm feeling much better today. Just sitting here relaxing watching the U.S. Open.

Andy,

Hope you and Angelina start feeling better, :wizard:.

Well for Father's day its simular to most other days around here.
This morning Caitlin says to me, Dad how would you like to have pancakes. I'll help you make them.

Her way of saying she wants pancakes this morning.:rotfl2:, she did help mix the batter, but dear old dad is the one on the grill.

We did have "Mickey" pancakes as I pull a surprise on the family as I was cooking them. Later in the day my hellper and I did food shopping, she loves going with me, as she gets lunch with Dad out of it.

Well the afternoon is filled watching the Nascar race.

Well almost time for dinner, time to light the grill

TTFN

First off - Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads

Just got home from 5 great days in Florida. Spent the first 3 in Orlando at the Hard Rock Hotel - Highly recommend it - what a cool hotel!!!! Its really pretty, the pool area is amazing and its so nice to get into the elevators and instead of hearing "elevator music" to hear Areosmith or another cool band playing. We spent the last 2 days looking around at areas with a realtor - didnt actually look at any houses yet - just settled on 3 different towns all of which are a reasonable commute to my new job and all have "A" rated schools. Bob and I are going back on July 1st-3rd to actually look at homes.

I cant believe this is all happening so fast.

Congrats again Ginny, you'll be in your Florida home in no time!!!

Since Angelina has been feeling under the weather, I fixed her chicken noodle soup for lunch, helped Hazel get dinner ready, then I got the job of cleaning out the kitty litter box. Yep, it's been a "GREAT" Father's Day for me around the house, LOL!!! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Oh yea, I forgot to mention, Angelina's computer crashed last night, so I've been trying to get that back up and running, I think it is going to take a trip to the computer repair store in the morning.

It's "GREAT" being a dad!!!

I can't believe it either, Ginny, and I'm really happy for you :sunny: I'm glad to hear you liked the Hard Rock Hotel because that's one of the hotels we're considering staying at either before or after the cruise next year. I KNOW both of my DSs would love to stay there, they are really both into music. :rockband: Also, it looks a really cool hotel! :teeth:

I hope you're able to find a house that you love when you go back in July!

We're happy to have you and your family join the group, and congrats on your rebooking!!! :goodvibes I know there are a couple other girls in the same age group as your DD. Welcome Aboard, nittany89!! :boat: :sunny: We're a very friendly group...please feel free to join the conversation! :)

For those of us with "younger teens"....

I read about the new changes they'll be making to the Magic when it goes into drydock this fall. One of the changes is supposed to be a new club area for younger teens, ages 12-14, down in the area where conference rooms used to be. Deck 4, I believe, but I may be wrong.

You know, I think this is a WONDERFUL change because on last year's cruise, DS14 was 13 at that time and felt very out of place in The Stack, with the older teens, so after the first few days he basically just wandered the ship and made some friends with kids he happened to meet at the arcade or just walking around the ship.

When we got back home, I told him that he could've dropped down to the "10-12" year old club, and done the activities there and met some 12 year old kids there. I know that some of OUR group's kids were 11 or 12 at that time, but he didn't really hook up with them because he never got the chance to get to know them. When I told him he could've dropped down to the 12 yr old group, he said "I wish I would've known this while we were ON the cruise" so I think he would've gone for that option.

ANYWAY, my point in all this.... (yes I have a point! LOL), is that on next year's cruise, it's going to be the same thing all over again. He'll be 15, and again he'll be on the younger end of the spectrum in the Stack. Also, I know that many of YOUR kids will be under 15, and won't be in the Stack with him, like I originally thought!!!

Do you think I should let him try the Stack, and if he doesn't like it or doesn't meet kids his own age, let him drop down to the new "12-14" Club?? He's not immature and he's extremely intelligent (honors and all that), but he gets overwhelmed sometimes by loud and overly aggressive behaviour, which is what he didn't like about the Stack last time.

Anyway....I know that Joanna's daughter will be 14, Daniel will be 13 or 14...and those are only 2 of "our" kids I was hoping he'd be able to spend time with on the cruise. But if he's in the Stack, he won't be able to.

Any thoughts or opinions? I really want him to enjoy next year's cruise and make friends. I felt bad for him last year :( :( :( But I didn't know the extent of it till I got home.

Edited to add:
P.S. Maybe some of our kids WILL be 15 - 17? :scratchin If you have a child who'll be in this age group for the cruise next year, let me know! Thanks :)

Good morning everyone, :sunny:

It's a great sunny day here in Philly and I'm staying home from work today. Lindsay has been waiting on me since Friday, so why not take advantage of it. lol Just want to rest one more day before going back to reality.

Welcome to all the new Disney cruisers. :cheer2: This truly is a fantastic group of people. You won't be sorry joining

Tina - good luck with your appointment :wizard: :wizard: Your picture is great.

Andy - hope you and Angelina start feeling better soon :wizard:

Ginny - good luck with your move to Florida and finding a house soon.

Doreen - how's Marty doing?

Darlene - how's Stan doing?

Terry - I can't believe it's only 16 days to your vacation. It came up really fast. Whenever we cruised, Harley was always too old to join whatever the teen club was and Lindsay was always the "old" one and felt funny. (Except on Disney, where she meet and hung out with a nice boy). At the time of the cruise next year, Harley will be 20 and Lindsay will be 18 (one month short of 19). And I'll be _____ old. lol

Any chance of having a mini "teen" meet soon so some of the teens can meet before the cruise so that age won't really matter. Or starting a teen chat for the teens to get to know each other. Of course, the adults will also need a have a DIS meet too.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Bev :sunny:

Good Morning Everyone
I just got back from the doctor's.................First let me say I apreciate everyone's support. It is especially hard sometimes because Chuck is gone so much. It has been a rather difficult subject for me to talk about and yes it's really personal for me. o.k so I found out what those 8 tubes of blood was for. He was testing me for everything under the sun !! Excuse my spelling, He was testing for Lupus, Hepatitis, MS and did a series of liver tests and took samples of my red cells and put it through different things. Intially I was told the liver tests came back fine. Today I found out my Ast & Alt were fine ( It was the last 2 times it was abnormal) but a different part of the test came back elevated where before that was fine. :confused3 I have to get tested again in a couple of months. They are suspecting a fatty liver. o.k on to the next part, which by the way I hate to talk about. There is something not right about my colon. It is a little more then just being constipated. Now I have to have a Colonoscopy. It is scheduled for July 1st. Chuck will have to take off to drive me. If anyone has had one could you PM me and tell me about it? From the instruction sheet they gave me it doesn't look pleasant. I will be an awful day before the procedure and I will be allowed only to have clear liquids. The cyst on the kidney wasn't really talked.......will keep an eye on it. Although one of the things they will be looking for is Cancer she doesn't seem to think that's what it is because of the sudden weight gain. They will look at everything. I am not scared to find out just scared of having this done. Thanks for listening.

Welcome aboard ! The more the merrier !!

Bev: It is wonderful to see you back posting. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Doreen: We had plans for the Sterling festival on July 2nd. We are in limbo because my procedure is the day before. They said I should be fine but hey they aren't feeling what I am. :rotfl2: Have you ever been before? The kids are really looking forward to it.

We also will be on the August 19, 2006 cruise. It will be me, my husband, daughter who will be 17 and son who will be 21. We will be celebrating with our friends whose daughter is getting married on the Magic that week. She is busy with the Disney Wedding planner now. Looking forward to meeting other families from here on the cruise.

Tina--Hazel had a colonoscopy done last year (Spet. '04) because she had just turned 50 and her brother had recently passed away from stomach cancer in April of '04. I had to take Hazel and wait in the office while the colonoscopy was being done. She made out fine and said it wasn't all that bad, and Hazel doesn't handle pain very well at all. Now that I'm 50, I need to get one scheduled for myself.

Terry--From what you stated and from what I've seen on the ship in my three cruises, I have a feeling your younger DS might be more comfortable with the younger teen group, but that's JMHO. The older teens on our cruise in August 2004 were a rowdy bunch, I think that's why Angelina didn't go back to The Stack after the 411 on the first night.
