I called inquiring about some dates in early December, and I was told there was a one-bedroom standard view available at BWV. I thought that was almost impossible to get this close to December. This was for Dec 8-11 (4 nights). Should I have been surprised?

We cancelled a one bdrm BWV for Dec 12th thru the 15th yesterday. We decided to go w/ a preferred studio (all I could get) instead to save some pts and bring family down with us in June. If my add'l nites in the studio come through....the one bedroom will also be available for 16th and 17th. So, nope I'm not suprirsed :D

We were not so fortunate yesterday! We tried to add on another day (12/28) at BWV but there was no availability. My husband, bless his heart, did not think to put us on the waitlist!! Instead, he booked a night at the AK Conciegre (spellling?) -- we're thinking about doing the early morning safari!

On Monday I called and got a preferred view, one bedroom at the BW for Dec 6-9.

I really wanted a studio anywhere, but there were none available. I would also have preffered a standard view, but got "stuck" with the preferred. :)

Also available during the same time was a two bedroom at OKW, for the same number of points at the BW. Since the pool wasn't going to be ready at OKW, I went with the BW.

Wow, must not be as hard to get as I thought. I really thought that the low points of early December made it a favorite for DVC folks and that ressies were really hard to come by. Maybe not.

I would say that has less to do with "not being hard to come by" than it has to do with people who gave up on the waitlist and booked elsewhere. Then someone cancels (which of course happens a lot) and the rooms are up for grabs immediately.

Could be that no one else was looking for those particular four days, others have a waitlist that isn't day by day (I know I wouldn't do that 3 months out for a BW SV in Dec - I would only do the entire stay). Then again - look at people who wanted a guaranteed BW view and are now booking that instead of SV.

I called last Friday for a 2-bedroom at BWV from Dec 11-15. They had a preferred view for all but Sunday night, 12/12. I was going to waitlist for that night, and all of a sudden she checked and said that she could get us a 2-bedroom BCV for all 4 nights.

I got a 2br VWL for 12/13-17 just a couple weeks ago...and we cancelled our 1br for those dates. Still have the 1br for the 12th....on the waitlist for the 2br and hoping it comes through before I start worrying about it! Worst case scenario is that it won't and my parents will have to get a room at the WL for that night instead of staying with us....and we might have to move....but if the night doesn't come through I'm hoping they can at least link our reservations so we don't have to move and can just add the connecting studio.

Could be.

I think another component of it is folks whose plans have changed. One of the byproducts of the "book right at 11 months" mentality is that invariably there will be a higher level of cancellations. Life has a way of derailing attempts to plan vacations nearly a year ahead of time.

Standard view rooms aren't that great a deal for weekend nights -- the points are almost as high as for a preferred view. But, I'm surprised about the weeknights.

Just called MS this morning. I was hoping for a studio or 1BR at VWL or BC. Wonderful MS person (Matthew) looked all over for my dates (12 - 15 Dec). He told me that VWL was completely sold out and that there were no studios availbale at BC (was able to get me a 1BR there though!!:bounce: ) Had him check the other resorts too...BWV had no studios, but had 1BRs...same for SSR. The only resort with studios available for my dates was OKW.
I was thrilled there was so much availability for our travel dates! I loves have lots of options!!:hyper:
I also booked our MVMCP tickets this AM. Will work on some PS now and then I am done with Disney for the day (yeah right!)
