We have ADR at the CAGRILL. The last time that we went there we took the bus from our resort to the transport center where we then took the monorail to the Contemporary hotel. Is this the best way to get there from one of the resorts? Would it be easier to take a cab there? How expensive would that be? Thanks!

The least expensive way would be bus to MK and walk to the CR. A cab will run about $15 each way.

I'm interested as well as to the best way. Going from Boardwalk Inn to California Grill. Then going to Pleasure Island.

I would agree that the best way to get to the Contemporary is to take the bus to MK and then walk over. It is not far from the bus stop, maybe a 5 minute walk. When you are finished, you could then take one of the buses back to your resort from MK as long as they were still running. The one poster wanted to get to DTD from the Contemporary-you could just take the bus to DTD from the Contemporary bus stop. Cabs are not bad options, especially if the MK is closed (for the OP) or if you are in a hurry as I believe the DTD bus from the Contemporary stops at GF and Poly prior to going to DTD (for the other poster). We find the cost of a cab not bad, especially if we used the buses or monorail for the first leg. Have fun!

We always bus to the MK and then take the Monorail to the Contemporary.

We always take the bus then the monorail.

Our first time I was really looking forward to the monorail ride. We left the parks to head back to our resort to change. We had the bus all to ourselves, the driver was really nice and was talking with us. When we got back on it was the same driver. He commented on how nice we looked and asked where we were going. As we were getting close to the MK he made an announcement he had to make a quick spot for special friends of his. He pulled into the CR. It was one of those mixed things, I was completely floored he did this for us but yet had really wanted to ride the monorail!

We've been back several times and never had that happen again but it sure was nice.

A few times after O'hana's at the Poly the bellmen have gotten the shuttle and drove us back to our resort.

So plan on taking the bus to MK and then the monorail but you never know!

Is that because you want the monorail ride? When we ate at CG, we walked because the MK resort busstops are between the monorail stop and the CR. In other words, I think you have to walk about as far to get to the monorail as you would if you just walked over to the CR.

We enjoy the monorail ride. Nothing wrong with that. It's a part of the WDW experience for us.

This happened to us on our last trip. We had an 8 a.m. PS at Kona Cafe. We were going to bus to the MK then take the Monorail to the Poly. We were the only people on the bus. The driver asked if we were going to an early breakfast at the MK, and we told them we were going to Kona Cafe. He dropped us off at the Poly instead! :)

Oh I wasn't suggesting there was anything wrong with it, just that you can probably get there more quickly by walking from the bus stop.

Oh the time thing isn't important to us. We always leave early enough to take the monorail and get there with plenty of time to spare.

we have reservations at the CG while we'll be staying at Saratoga Springs...do you think the easiest thing to do is to catch the Contemporary bus over at the DTD busstop?

Thanks for any advice...didn't mean to steal the thread, by the way! :goodvibes

That would be the quickest way for you to get there if you are taking the disney buses.

I would certainly catch the bus to MK and the walk or monorail to the CR if it were me.

ourhappyplace, just wanted to make sure you knew that the resort buses no longer go to the TTC.

Thanks so much! We really appreciate it - we'll plan on taking the bus to the MK and then walking over (as long as we have good weather!) - we never would have thought of that! Thanks so much! :thumbsup2

I'd also like to thank everyone for their advice - I like the idea of walking over to the Contemporary from the MK...work up an appetite before dinner!

That's just how we're planning to get there from the Dolphin!

We had something very similar happen to us! The last time we went to CG, we caught the bus from POR to the MK. It was nearly empty though, since it was later in the evening. We sat at the front of the bus and chatted with the driver. When he found out our ultimate destination was actually CG he made a special stop to drop us off there first! Very cool! pixiedust:

We do too. We took the bus over and were lucky enough to get the front car with the driver. He let us make a full circle. I honestly don't know who was having more fun, my DH, or my DGD. It was just part of one magical night.
