california Grill or Artist Point?

Hmmm...Here are my thoughts: We try to make it to Cali Grill every time we go to disney.
We LOVE their sushi and their flatbreads. If you time your reservation around the fireworks, you will not be disappointed. Keep in mind that it can be VERY noisy in here.

For a more quiet and in my opinion, more of a "gourmet" experience, go for Artist Point. You really cannot go wrong either way.......That is a tough call.

I hav eaten at both and really enjoyed both meals. We had xmas dinner at Artist Point 3 years ago. Love WL at xmas time with the fireplace and xmas tree, dinner was wonderful and the service great. We had xmas dinner 3 years ago at CG and it was also amaxing. We had 9pm adr so we saw wishes and had a wonderful meal...leisurely about 2 hours in total. Great looking restaurant and the views great. We actually would return to either of them. I think the menu choices are more extensive at CG, but quality of food at both were wonderful.

Connears

Actually like seeing the crowds in "nice " attire at CG. DH and DS(16) had polo shirts and khaki pants and the 3 women had nice pants and xmas sweaters. We even saw them ask a man in hawaiian board shorts leave as he got off the elevator..lluckily he understood. Artist point dress was not as evidently different from other reataurants when we were there.

I like the menu choices at CG better because we are sushi fans. The views are beautiful but the noise level here takes away all of the feeling that this place could remotely be considered fine dining. If you go very late, after fireworks, it's a nice enjoyable meal with an eclectic menu. I enjoy the sushi and appetizers but I've never had an entree here that I thought was sooooo good. The steak and duck I've ordered have been too well done and the pork was okay. Since then, I've learned my lesson and just get sushi and a salad and my meals have been very nice.

I'm not a huge fan of the menu choices at Artist Point. It's a more hearty meal, all courses are bigger than the ones served at CG and it's heavier than my personal preferences would be for dinner. The decor is rustic, also not a fan, but the views out the windows, especially at sunset, are almost as good as CG's. It's quiet here, at least we've never experienced a noisy meal. The service has always been top notch.

Never Been to AP so really can't speak.
Cali Grill- great food, great atmosphere & service & the best view of the world AND you can watch the Fireworks from there deck.
:worship::thumbsup2:banana:

Both are very good, but California is superior IMO. California Grill's atmosphere, especially if you're they during the fireworks, is great. Both have great service and food, I like then menu selection better at California grill.

DW & I have eaten at both Cali Grill & AP.

Our first experience at Cali Grill was interupted by a drunk in dirty shorts, flowered shirt, and drink in hand as he wondered around looking out the windows yelling back to his party near the bar what he found in the direction he was looking. At first I though a CM would take quick care of the situation, but it went on way too long until he got board with interupting peoples dinner. I know this was an unusual experience.

AP, who's menu we find wonderful, has a more open and refreshing feel to us, and the bar is separated from the dining room.

We have ADRs this May for AP. I am still working on DW for a return to Cali Grill.

Both have great food, but the atmosphere at Cali Grill is just unmatched. It is breathtaking! I also love their sushi options, so I would vote 100% for Cali Grill. Artist Point is a great place to try if you are on DxDP, or like signature meals. But if it's between the two, definitely Cali Grill!

Thank you everyone, I appreciate each persons comments. My 5 yr old son loves California roll and my husband loves sushi so we will be going to Califonia Grill and save Artist Point for the next trip. Plus my son loves to visit CR game room.
Thank you

Both are great. I prefer Artist Point, it is quieter and a little more luxuorious. I like Cali Grill too but it is very loud. The view is great too. You really can't go wrong at either but I like AP better.

I prefer Artist Point to California Grill. The food at both was excellent, but preferred the atmosphere at Artist Point. They are definitely my first and second choice for a signature restaurant.

Both are absolutely spectacular (Cali Grill probably a bit moreso) but I'd take a look at recent reviews for both. Last I checked, Artist's Point seemed to be going downhill.
