California Grill-Attire

When we went to Cali Grill on our last trip, we found it to be quite upscale. I did not observe children behaving badly. Instead, they were dressed up and acted appropriately for the setting. As we got ready in our hotel room, I was worried about being overdressed, and upon our arrival, as I looked around the room, I was glad that we had dressed as well as we did. It made me happy to see people well-dressed instead of wearing the usual park attire. Unlike some others, I am very much affected by aesthetics and ambiance, and I appreciate anyone that makes the effort. It elevates the entire experience for me. But that's just how I feel.

I carry a good size purse, and my husband carries a backpack in the parks for extra water, rain ponchos, etc. If I were in your position, I would ask my DH to wear dressier shorts and a polo or nice button down short-sleeved shirt. I would roll up a sundress and put it in his backpack with some bejeweled flip flops.

It isn't necessary to dress to the nines, but I don't think it is appropriate to show up in sweaty shorts, t-shirts, and sneakers either. Whatever you plan on doing, I hope it works out well and that you have a wonderful experience.

Shoes! This is my problem. I am not going to carry a bag or deal with locker.

I get that a cute sundress, capri pants or nice shorts work for both park and signature dining. My park shoes, required because of Rx inserts, are not attractive. At. all. Why do manufacturers insist on using the most garish colors?! Especially in larger sizes? They will kill any dressy vibe I am trying to convey.

So smile and wave when you see me in July at brunch- I will be the one in the nicer clothes with day glo athletic shoes that are same size as the shoe box. After a few mimosas I won’t care anymore

I have always felt that the dress code at resort Signatures prevent people from coming directly from the pool as I am sure that has happened.

I think brunch is much different from dinner. I wouldn't go crazy with fancy shoes at brunch before a day in the parks. We always go to breakfast at Cinderella's Castle. I try to wear a nicer top with nicer capris, perhaps a little jewelry like my favorite svarofsky crystal mickey icon necklace. But you will definitely see me wearing my most comfortable sneakers with the inserts for my high instep. That is unavoidable.

At night, I will wear my Yellow Box (very cushiony and comfortable, but no arch support) blingy flip flops. I can handle being without arch support for a couple of hours in order to look pretty in a Signature restaurant.

I don't know what kind of inserts you need but these are my go tos for relaxed vacation footwear:

Comes in lots of colours!

When we were on the Deluxe Plan, we ate at a signature every night so it wasn’t always practical to go back to the resort before dinner.

I wore capri pants and a nice top out to the parks those day with sandals. In my tote bag, I carried travel size Gold Bond powder and deodorant, foundation, lipstick, eyeliner and a hair brush. When we arrived at the restaurant, I hit the ladies room first and freshened up with these items.

Obviously, I didn’t look as fancy as I would have going straight from a shower in my room, but I felt perfectly presentable in the restaurant.

What people are wearing has no impact on my dinner. What does is having children running around the restaurant. Has happened a few times we have eaten at CG.

I like to plan to be able to change into something nicer before a sig. for me nicer is non-denim capris (chino or linen or something) and a non-character shirt. I put a polo and long pants on the kid. I do that because it enhances MY experience for us to clean up a bit.

Last time we went our table was next to a couple who looked like they came from the park, in shorts and character tshirts. It did not detract from my experience, in fact we had a lovely chat about the food. Go as you are and enjoy yourself.

I’m right there with you. I’ve been surprised at how many people have said that it does detract from their experience. I couldn’t tell you what the people around me were wearing at any restaurant I’ve eaten at while on vacation.

All personal opinion - I'm not necessarily right, no one else is necessarily wrong.

OK - worth noting what any Restaurant's Dress Code is designed to accomplish....

It allows the Restaurant to refuse to seat that guy that arrives unwashed for three weeks. Or wearing an "I love Hitler" T shirt.
It allows the Restaurant staff to use common sense.... and say "ahhhhhh -no. Go back and change".

Now - this is not to "suppress" free expression - it's to honor ALL the guests, and respect the Restaurant itself.

So? Best advice is easy, for a SIG: Don't show up looking like a bum :). My standard dress IS black jeans, collared shirt, and sports coat.
So denim, per se, can be done well. Goal? All of the OTHER patrons are happy. As is the Restaurant.

I don't pay that much attention to what others wear when I dine but I do pay attention to what the restaurant requests and assume it's for a good reason that I can reasonably figure out:).

well the restaurant doesn't request no shorts or character shirts, does it?
