Calendar of groups visiting

Hi All! This is my very first post here.. My sister let me know about the boards, and my husband did a major eyeroll because the last thing I need(he says) is another message bord. This will be our first trip to WDW yahoo!! I have wanted to go for 6 years and he has vetoed every single time, my only trip there was when I was 12, I am 34 now. We have a 3 1/2 year old so I am uber excited. This has been me -------> lurking for the past 3 days, soaking in as much info as I can.

My question..... We are looking at the dates of February 25th through March 6th, we had to change once due to job schedules, and a solid booking the week of Mardi Gras, but this one should be set in stone. I haven't reserved yet, I am looking at the value resorts. Specifically ASsports, or Pop. Then likely music, or movies. I found somewhere(maybe here), a list of groups of cheerleaders and other groups and when they visit, I think I read here the ASsports tends to fill up with cheerleaders and groups so I was hoping to avoid that type of crowd if possible.

Any other tips you can give we would appreciate!! Thanks so much

If I remember correctly all 3 All-Star resorts, POR and CBR are used for those types of Cheerleading/Dance team competitions. If you think a group will be there the same time as you, I would choose POP as my resort. I think Disney avoids putting groups there because their are not enough room compared to the All Stars. I'm sorry I don't know a link to the schedule of the cheerleading groups and such!

Well shoot, it looks like this question got kinda buried awhile back with no answers given.

I was looking at the events calendar for 2008, and I don't see any groups scheduled to be there during your dates.

One thing your hubby might enjoy is the ESPN weekend at Disney Hollywood Studios. Click on the link below to see what's scheduled at WDW for 2008.

Here is some events:

College Cheerleading & Dance Team National Championships (January 18-20, 2008) Disney Hotel, no commit on which one
National Dance Team Championship (February 1-3, 2008) All Star and CBR
National High School Cheerleading Championship (February 8-10, 2008) All Star and CBR
Twirlmania (February 15-18, 2008) All Star Music, and POP Century (costs alittle more), and offsite

Cheer & Dance National Championships (February 23-24 and February 29-March 2, 2008) All Star

From their site "Accommodations at our host hotel, the Disney All-Star Resort, or upgrade to another Walt Disney World Resort or to an offsite property hotel."


National All Star Cheerleading Championship (March 7-9, 2008). All Star and CBR

Feb 28 - Mar 2 AAU Spring Field Hockey Classic

I would try for POP. Would be the least likely affected since they will probably have to pay more like Twirlmania.

I would stay at POP. They have their own buses. We stayed there and it was really nice. We enjoy that fact about the buses. Dont have to wait for the bus to stop at any other resorts.

Where do the actual championships take place? In a park? I remember a couple of years ago when MGM was very busy with cheerleaders because I think the competition took place "in" the park. Anyone know where they do this stuff?

Some of the cheer stuff takes place at the Indy Jones theatre at MGM and sometimes it takes place at WWoS.

There is a cheer/dance group at Disney every weekend in February and the first two weekends in March.
