Caleb's Wish trip!

I thought I would add some pictures so you could have some faces to go with the names!

Here is Caleb...the star of the show (he was the ring bearer in my nephews wedding last summer)

Caleb loves to swim and ride his bike ( we had to order him a special bike he could ride...it is really cool....I will have to take a picture! It is called the triton)
He is excellent at math and reading! He loves to talk...which gets him on trouble at school! (can't imagine where he gets that from ;) )

And here is Aubree...she is almost 4 going on 14! She is VERY spunky and FULL of life! Always into something!

And here is Emilee...she is 12...and is turning into such a young lady..with an unpredictable attitude! One minute we are all happy...then BOOm...mood changes! I pray it is all hormones!!

And here are Tom and I. He is truly my best friend! Not sure where I would be without him!

We are hoping for the dates of May 9-16th.!

I just wanted to tell you that I'm on board for your pre-trip report! Yay! I can't wait to hear what your dates are, and to see some pictures! My sister will be there in May, too!

Yeah, what my sister said!!! I'll be there then too! It would be so neat if you went then and I saw you guys!

Just got off the phone with the wish granter! She is coming Monday evening!! :cheer2:
We are so excited to make this all "for real"!
I think we might try and extend our trip a couple of days since we might never get an opportunity to go to Disney this again! I don't want to feel like we missed out on anything!

OOOOH!!! YEAH!!!

I love the pictures of your beautiful family!!!

Thank you!
I am ready for 6:30 to get here....that is when our wish granter comes! :yay:

Caleb's wish granter came tonight and brought him a box of whoppers...yum!
We filled out all the paper work and she said we would have our dates by tomorrow! I can't wait!

Here's a pic of Caleb and his WG

How awesome!!! I hope you get the dates you are hoping for!! I will be going in May also. If you are able to extend your trip and you are interested, there will be a dis meet in Epcot on May 17th.
It would be fun to meet Caleb and your family!!:goodvibes

I just found your thread. Your children are precious. I too hope that your dates are possible.

Dates...we have DATES!!!!
We will depart on May 9th..return May 15th!
I can't believe she was just here last night and we already have dates confirmed!

I am so excited!! It feels official now!!

OK...let me tell a little more about our visit with Angela, our wish granter.
When she came she brought Caleb a huge box of whoppers...so he liked her instantly!
She was very friendly! She asked Caleb lots of questions like his favorite color, TV show, and food. Then she asked him to close his eyes and wish where he would like to go.....who he would like to meet, and what he would like to have.

Caleb had a hard time with some of these questions....he couldn't decide who to meet or what to have. BUT there was no doubt where he wanted to go!
Disney World to meet Goofy! :thumbsup2
She took down out top 3 dates when we wanted to go. And told us we would hear from her tomorrow as to which dates they chose for us!
I couldn't believe we would hear so soon! As I had read some other people having to wait weeks to learn their dates! But I was thrilled because I am so ready to make it "official"!

She also talked to Caleb about his send off party. She gave him several local party locations. (we live in a small town...but not too far from Dallas)
So some were big name places in Dallas. But he chose to have it in our church gym and play dodge ball!! I was laughing so hard!! :rotfl:
But this is his wish...right???

So today I got an email from Angela (WG) confirming our dates (5/9-5/15).:yay:
As well as our send off party (5/7). She said our pastor was gonna invite our whole congregation. (we are very active in our church...so this might be a pretty big party) We feel so Blessed by all of this!

I keep feeling like we are cheating the MAW organization...when I read all of these stories of these children so much worse off than Caleb! He is doing really well right now...of course we never know when he will begin to go down hill.

I bought some Disney stickers today and made each kid a chart to count down the day's (74 from today...not that I am counting?!!):upsidedow
I also bought a couple Disney guides to read up in my spare time!
And I bought a small journal to write down and remember all of these special things happening fro Caleb! As well as keep track of our trip.

Thanks for reading all of my ramblings!!

Don't you dare feel that way!! He has had a rough time and as you say, there is no guarantee how long he will be enjoying his current level of mobility and wellness....this is the perfect time for him to go with his family to WDW because he is feeling so good right now!

In the beginning, I did feel a bit guilty about accepting accommodations from Disney because of my son's special needs. But then I realized that it would not be possible for us to enjoy WDW like typical families without them. When your family has it rough 365 days out of the year, you should at least have a few days when you get "special" treatment. Please don't feel guilty, Caleb and all the other Wish Kids deserve this, no matter what their individual ailments may be.

So happy you got your dates; the weather should be spectacular!

Here are the kids with their countdown charts I made them.....the sad faces are for there being 74 days before we leave!

OK...so I am beginning to really read info about the different parks and I am thinking I really would like to have 4 days for the Disney parks....1 day for each 1. And not sure about going to the Universal parks or Sea World at all???

With 7 places to see and really only 6 days to see them...how do you do it?
I know I have read lots of TR's where people have done more than 1 park in a day. Maybe that is the best answer.

But my question for you who have been there and done that....which park would you omit?

And are the Universal park tickets GKTW gives you park hopper tickets? Between US and IOA?

DATES!!! You got your DATES!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

AND!!! You will be there the same time we are!!! Oh I hope I spot you! :yay: :yay: :dance3:

Hooray for dates!

We went to GKTW in november with our twin sons, age 10. It's been a terribly busy, stressful time for us since we got back...but man oh man...that was a fantastic trip!!! (Yes, I plan to write a trip report as soon as I can)

I saw your questions about Universal and thought I'd chime in. Yes, the GKTW Universal passes give you access to both Universal and IOA. I know this because we did "park-hop", including our second Universal day when I ran (literally) Mark (he's in a wheelchair) from one to the other, first to catch a special meet n greet with Scooby, and then to run back to catch yet another meet and greet with all the super heroes at IOA, then back again to catch the last show for the horror movie magic show ANd a visit to the magic shop!!! Meanwhile, Mark's twin, having just discovered the joys of loop-de-loop roller coasters, was able to do the big coasters again and again. The GKTW button and Universal passes will your whole party the opportunity to avoid waits and do the things they really want to do.

Keep the questions coming. I pop in when I can!

Thanks for answering my question! I am sure I will have many, many more!

Caleb had his neuro check up appt today. I mentioned to the Dr about a form of MD I had been reading about that I really think Caleb might have! He seems to meet all of the symptoms. It is called Bethlehem Myopathy. At first she seemed to blow me off like ....oh great another internet Dr!
But then she was like....hhhhmmm MAYBE!
SO they drew blood and sent it off to a far away lab. We will have the results in 40 days!

I just pray this is an answer for us...for 2 reasons!
#1....it is a slow progressive form.
#2...this would mean no more muscle biopsies!

So we wait again for an "official diagnosis"...but what is a 40 day wait when we have waited 8 years???:confused3
