Cakes and Napoleons and F&W, oh my! Planning our Disney wedding!! UPDATED 9/15!!!

Sigh... Disney Halloween... so wonderful... I really want to go during Halloween and see all those decorations...:goodvibes

I don't eat hot dogs very often... usually at baseball games in the summer(hmmm...that's kind of ironic) but there is something about the one's at Casey's ... pretty yummy ... and the views aren't half bad either...:thumbsup2

You have awesome self control... I might have taken that CM up on the BOG offer cause I'm just so nosey that way...;)

The whole new circus area is really picturesque... the characters to meet in the tent are cute as well...

ahhhh P of the C... and the Haunted Mansion... my two favorite MK rides...

It smells unbelievably good in the Confectionary... just seeing your picture I could almost smell it... kind of like a scratch and sniff...:cloud9:

I pretty much NEVER eat hot dogs except at Casey's! They're just special there, I think!

Hahaha I should have been like...."well can I meander down that way and check out the menu?" :rolleyes1

The whole new area looks really well-done, I was excited to see it all!

Hahaha it really does!! :goodvibes

I loved your engagement photos! Every single one of them! Your dress is so pretty too! Where did you get it?

Bummer about the BOG invite. I think I would have found a way to fit all the food in my stomach. Beauty and the Beast was a favorite of mine growing up, so it's like a dream come true to be able to eat there. Crossing my fingers the lines won't be too crazy when we go.

That dino tee shirt is too cute.

Thank you!! :goodvibes I got it from Anthropologie a few years ago.

Hahaha I don't think we were up to that challenge! I'd love to see it someday when we're less full though!

Thanks!

MK with all the fall decorations is really nice. Those pumpkin Mickey heads on all the light posts are just too cute. :goodvibes

What luck with the BOG offer. I mean, if you hadn't eaten at Casey's, you never would've run into someone offering you a test run at BOG. But because you'd just filled yourself, that's of course why the CM made that offer. :rolleyes2
Oh well, next time you go back you won't have to worry about that issue since the restaurant's open to everyone now.

I know what you mean about the Storybook Circus area. DH and I actually haven't even taken a really good look around, because we know it's more for kids. Obviously, we'll be venturing over there in the future, but when it was just adults we never felt the need to. :confused3

They really are cute! I love all of the decorations!

Hahaha of course it was! Yes, now we can go at any time!

Yeah, it was fun to walk around there, but without kids, there wasn't THAT much to really do (especially since DF can't do spinning rides, so there goes Dumbo).

I definitely read this update already, and thought I commented. I do that a lot... I have to stop browsing on my ipad!
I LOVE your dinosaur t-shirt!! Super cute!
Too bad about missing out on BOG. I need to see that place some day. :lovestruc
I loved what I saw of Storybook Circus in September. I also don't love Circuses but they did a wonderful job. (Of course they did, it's Disney!)

Ugh I hate when that happens!!

Aww thanks!! :goodvibes

Yeah, I am definitely not a fan of circuses or clowns or whatnot, but I really thought it was nicely done!

:) Excited to join in (better late than never!).

Loving all the planning you are getting done.

Want to let you know that I have the lawn ornament flamingo, and since my move away from Florida to Maryland he currently has a place of honor in my.....living room!! He is next to the fire place so he feels warm all the time (because that is very important for flamingos..ha ha)

Welcome!! Thank you! :goodvibes

Hahaha awww yeah there aren't too many flamingos in Maryland, good idea keeping yours nice and warm! :thumbsup2

I figure why don't we briefly fast-forward this TR to, well, now, and start to make it a PTR, a la my last TR.

So, you all know by now how much DF and I like staying in the Epcot resort area. Combine that with the fact that pretty much 100% of our wedding activities will be taking place in that region, and it made a pretty clear-cut decision on where we should stay for our wedding/Disneymoon trip.

(Drumroll please…)

(Are you making a drumroll sound right now?)

(If not, here we go…)

THE YACHT CLUB!!!!

We both really enjoyed when we had stayed at the Yacht Club, and it was pretty much instantly declared that’s where we would be staying for our 9 night trip.

(YES, 9 nights!! So much Disney…so excited! :wizard: :yay: )

The breakdown of our stay is that we will be arriving at Disney 3 days before the BIG day. We're planning to get settled in, do whatever wedding errands need doing, and have our guests gradually arrive for the next couple of days. The day before the wedding will be our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.

THEN, after all of the fun and festivities, well, the fun and festivities will continue on when we stay at Disney for the next 6 days for our honey…sorry, Disneymoon!

So the plan was set! Signed, sealed, delivered, that's done!

Yeah, right!!!!! You all know me better than that!!!!! :upsidedow

So ANYWAYS, Stringbean got to thinking…

(I really did consider ending the post there, but I'll be nice and avoid that cliffhanger!)

For a little bit of backstory, we had set up our room block through Disney, in which basically you select a handful of resorts that your guests can choose from to stay at during their trip. If they stay in the resorts within your block, they get a nice discount on their room rate. If they stay at another Disney resort, they can be manually entered into your block, but they won’t get the wedding rate room discount.

Our room block consists of:

Yacht Club
Boardwalk Inn
Coronado Springs
POP Century

DF has always said what fond memories he has of going to the Boardwalk Inn as a kid, and he and I started discussing how a 9 night stay is more than enough time to do something we had never done at Disney before – a split stay. We’ve always dismissed this idea in the past, since our trips are usually in the 5-6 night range, since it would mean we would switch resorts so soon into our trip. But with a bit more time, why not get to stay at 2 different resorts?

SO, the first half of our trip (including the wedding) will be spent at the Yacht Club, after which, we will move across the lake to the Boardwalk Inn! :yay:

I can't think of a better switch! The YC sounds wonderful for all the wedding festivities and the Boardwalk sound wonderful because, well, it IS the Boardwalk and one of my all time favorite resorts.

9 nights in Disney sounds glorious!

Your plans sound super and those are two great resorts to split between! And hurrah for nine nights! Of course I find no trip is EVER long enough but nine sounds pretty good!! :upsidedow

How fun to stay in two resorts for your Disneymoon! I've never stayed at the Boardwalk, but I love that area. Sounds like a great plan!!

All of that sounds so amazing !! You will love the Boardwalk. If you get an hour, you should listen to Lou Mongello's podcast. He did an episode on the Boardwalk resort and I found it very interesting. They told you all about the resort and the inspiration for it. Here is the link

Hidden Treasures of Disney's Boardwalk Resort

I listened to it on my iPhone and the way to work and back. I really enjoyed it.

We are staying a Beach Club in September, so we plan on taking the time then to explore the Yacht Club more.

I can't wait to hear/read more about your Disneymoon !!!

Your plans sound awesome! I love the entire Boardwalk area, and I'm hoping I'll get to stay in one of those resorts soon!

I've done one split stay, and it was really nice to get to check out two different resorts on one trip! We had some slight issues, because they were transferring our luggage over while we were at the parks in the morning and it wound up at the wrong resort, but that doesn't seem like a problem you'll have with the two being so close to each other!

That sounds like such amazing plans! The Yacht Club is gorgeous, and you just can't go wrong with staying at the Boardwalk! Your wedding is going to be amazing!

Lou is great -I'll have to catch that episode later in the week(I'm behind). Love his hidden treasure and DSI shows, especially the ones with Jim Korkis ....that man is simply amazing!

A split-stay sounds like a great plan! I know you guys loved the Yacht Club, and I think the Boardwalk seems so fun! Your wedding and Disneymoon resort choices are excellent! :thumbsup2

That split stay sounds awesome! I mày be just a teeny tiny bit jealous. Or maybe a lot jealous.

Oh my goodness! What an awesome trip that will be! I want to stay at both of those resorts SO badly. Can't wait to hear what you think of BWI!

Sounds like a great plan! I'm partial to the BWI because that's where DH and I stayed on our honeymoon! Of course I think it's a fabulous choice. ;)

YOU'RE LIVING THE DREAM!!!!! Seriously. Like. You're living my dream. Not only the wedding aspect but I have been dying to stay at the Boardwalk forever, for some reason I am fascinated by it. The problem is there is no way I can afford the normal price and every time I try to rent points they are sold out. I wanted to do it for our May trip and the only thing that is available is Saratoga Springs. -_-

Anyway I am SO excited for you and I cannot wait to read more!!

Lucky you with the cowboy scene.
Wow! Your first mickey bar welcome to the dark side they are addictive. LOL
Love the pics of the food at Sanaa. That place is so good. I will be eating there one week from tonight. I cannot wait.
E.T. LOL. It looked like a rose.
How nice they gave you roses. The mimosas I would have loved. LOL
LOL. You stole the roses. That is hysterical.
Great pics on Figment
The engagement photos look great.
What a beautiful day to sit outside of Casey’s.
Too bad you couldn’t eat again.
Great resort choices.
All caught up.

Oh how wonderful! Yacht club AND Boardwalk! I'm in love with your trip! I'm basically with everyone else so far -- jealous! And very, very happy for you. Sounds like a seriously magical wedding/Disneymoon!

Catching up...loved all the pics in your last update. Especially the one of your ring with the bride's ring at HM - so clever!

Your upcoming trip sounds so exciting - Yacht and Boardwalk are two of the best! :goodvibes
